Denver Overwhelmed After 40,000 Immigrants Flood City

(AP Photo/Edgar H. Clemente)

Denver is grappling with a surge of more than 40,000 new residents due to the ongoing border crisis, placing a significant strain on the city’s infrastructure and resources.

The capital, home to over 700,000 people, is the latest to see an influx of migrants, highlighting broader issues faced by regional communities.

Supporting the growth of its newly-arrived populous has proven to be a significant challenge for Denver, particularly its role as a ‘sanctuary city’ for those in need. With the surge in numbers, the city’s services – from shelters to healthcare – have been stretched to their limits, prompting state officials to institute time limits on temporary accommodations to manage daily arrivals.

Healthcare providers, including Denver Health, are reaching out to local and federal authorities for much-needed aid, as the situation has led to overcrowded facilities and a strained medical system. The added strain on the system comes at a cost for the city’s economic landscape. Reports from local businesses cite tent cities sprouting up in response to the housing crisis, which have led to declines in consumer activity, particularly in the vicinity of downtown Denver.

Bay Area family says 25-to-life sentence too low for man who beheaded his child’s mother

San Mateo Superior Court Judge Lisa Novak said Tuesday the trial of 33-year-old Jose Rafael Solano Landaeta was the most difficult in her career. Last November, a jury convicted Landaeta after a two-week trial, finding that he killed 27-year-old Karina Castro of San Carlos, the mother of his one-year-old child.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Landaeta viciously attacked Castro with multiple strikes from a sword, decapitating her in the street in front of her apartment complex on Sept. 8, 2022, in front of several witnesses.

Evidence from online messages between the two showed Landaeta decided to kill his ex-partner the morning after an argument, and prosecutors played recordings of Landaeta telling family members, “I fucking killed the bitch.”

For those close to Castro, a sentence that left any chance of Landaeta’s release was too lenient.

Biden’s SEC Targeting Rumble May Influence 2024 Election, Rep. Byron Donalds Says

In light of an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) into free speech platform, Rumble, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) has voiced concern that the actions of the regulator may be politically motivated and potentially impact the 2024 presidential election.

Rumble has seen a surge in popularity, especially among political channels, due to its advocacy for free speech. This appeal is largely in response to increasing concerns about content censorship on platforms like YouTube and Facebook.

The investigation of Rumble pivots on allegations against the company’s user metrics. According to a report from activist investment group Culper Research, which has an active short position in the social media platform (meaning that would profit if Rumble’s stock drops), Rumble is accused of boosting its reported monthly active user count.

With the gears of the presidential election cycle turning, Donalds expressed concerns about the timing of the investigation. The implications of it seem to suggest an intention to control Rumble’s impact in the 2024 election through the pressure of continuous legal proceedings.

Newly released survey data shows even more Americans are citing economic hardship from the spike in prices in recent years.

Prices have risen about 18% since President Joe Biden took office.

Gallup released the survey data from January, which showed that 63% of those surveyed either said it was a moderate or severe hardship to maintain their current standard of living.

That is up significantly from November of 2021, during Biden’s first year in office, when only 45% said the same. The figure in question has steadily increased since then, surpassing 60% around the start of 2023.

A California Teen Threatened to Shoot Up His High School. Cops Found Ghost Guns and a Rocket Launcher at His House

Authorities in San Diego, California, have arrested a father and son after seizing dozens of guns and explosives from their home late Monday night.

The weapons and explosives allegedly seized from the home included unregistered guns without serial numbers, supplies to produce ghost guns, and rocket propelled grenades.

NBC 7 in San Diego reported that the son was accused of making a threat against his school, Rancho Bernardo High School, on Jan. 26.

The teen allegedly said he would be carrying out a school shooting Tuesday, one he said he had been preparing for. The students who heard the threat went to school officials, who contacted police.

FBI blocked surveillance team from interviewing person of interest in J6 pipe bomb case: former FBI agent

A former FBI agent has revealed that the bureau tied the suspect wanted in connection to pipe bombs planted at both the Republican and Democrat National Committee buildings in DC before January 6, 2021, to a DC Metro fare card and a license plate, but his team was prevented from interviewing the person of interest.

After over three years, the person wanted for placing the pipe bombs in these locations has yet to be found.

The counterintelligence team had used security footage to follow the person of interest to a Metro station after the bombs were planted, and the card used to access the transit was identified.

The card allowed them to determine he got off at a stop in Northern Virginia, where the person was seen entering a car. The card and the car were registered in the name of a retired Air Force chief master sergeant that was now working as a contractor with security clearance.

Newborn great white shark spotted for first time, researchers say

A newborn baby great white shark has been spotted for the first time in the wild, or so California researchers say.

Researchers at University of California, Riverside believe they have made a major scientific breakthrough by spotting a great white shark that appeared to be “one day old at most” off the coast of California near Santa Barbara.

“Where white sharks give birth is one of the holy grails of shark science. No one has ever been able to pinpoint where they are born, nor has anyone seen a newborn baby shark alive,” Wildlife filmmaker Carlos Gauna said. “There have been dead white sharks found inside deceased pregnant mothers, but nothing like this.”

The internal federal memo to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, which was first obtained by The Daily Caller, revealed that the unidentified member of al-Shabaab, a Somali terrorist organization, was released into the United States after the terrorist was caught crossing the border last March near San Ysidro, California.

The Daily Caller reported that the Terrorist Screening Center “deemed” the terrorist a “mismatch” after running the individual’s name through the terrorist watchlist.

According to data provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol agents apprehended 173 suspects on the terror watchlist who attempted to illegally enter the United States during fiscal year 2023.

‘Take Our Border Back Convoy’ heads for Louisiana on day 2

The group is going to great lengths, driving thousands of miles to highlight the ongoing issue at the southern border.

The convoy settled in Jacksonville, Florida, late last night, welcomed by dozens of people waving American flags and a band singing the national anthem.

The record number of encounters at the border last fiscal year has influenced participants to travel to such lengths in order to push for change.

Josh Fulfer, who drove across the country to join the convoy, is among those looking for a better border solution.

“It’s affecting my kids, and eventually my grandkids. This is costing us billions of dollars. I’ve been down there for months and I can tell you the border is wide open,” Fulfer said.

Israel destroys massive tunnel system under Gaza cemetery where Hamas operatives helped plot Oct. 7

Hamas helped hatch its Oct. 7 sneak attack on Israel under a cemetery in southern Gaza, according to Israeli forces who recently took out the elaborate tunnel shaft.

The tunnels led to several wide rooms, including a kitchen space complete with a spice rack and working electricity and plumbing.

There were also several bathrooms and bedrooms in the tunnel system, as well as what appeared to be a meeting room.

The base was where the leaders of Hamas’ eastern battalion allegedly directed their forces during the October terrorist attack that killed more than 1,200 people in Israel, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The Beltway Judge Hearing Trump Cases and Her Anti-Trump, Anti-Kavanaugh Husband

For months progressives have been insisting that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from any case that involves Trump because of his wife Ginni Thomas’ political involvement and participation in the events of Jan. 6.

Those same interests have yet to express similar worries about Pan’s objectivity, despite her husband’s longtime political activism and current opposition to another Trump presidency.

Power couples are the lifeblood of Washington so it’s not unusual for political activists, judges, and White House bigwigs to rub elbows at fancy soirees like the October gala at the Kennedy Center.

But Max Stier’s longtime ties to the Democratic Party, his access to key Biden administration officials, and his suggestion that Trump represents a threat to democracy at the same time his wife is handling sensitive matters related to the Department of Justice’s prosecution of the former president should raise questions about her impartiality.

Israeli Hostage Families Block Border, Demand No Gaza Aid Until Relatives Freed

Tsafrir Abayov / Associated Press

Israel has allowed dozens of trucks of humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, after inspection, since shortly after the war began. It has allowed the aid to flow despite evidence that much of it is stolen by Hamas terrorists and armed gangs, and kept from civilians.

Meanwhile, families of Israeli hostages, over 130 of whom are still thought to be in captivity — though not all are thought to be alive — are becoming desperate, protesting not only in favor of a hostage deal but against humanitarian aid being sent into Gaza.

They argue that Palestinians, and Hamas, should not receive food, fuel, water, and medicine if there is no guarantee that hostages are also receiving aid. Hamas is already thought to have broken an agreement to bring medications to hostages that require them.

As the Times of Israel notes, protesters succeeded in blocking at least some aid trucks from entering Gaza via the Kerem Shalom border crossing between Israel and southern Gaza on four successive days, from last Wednesday through this past Sunday.

Germany Announces Proposed Law to Ban Praying Outside Abortion Centers

The UK Parliament adopted “buffer zone” legislation in 2023, expected to come into force throughout all of England and Wales soon.

Existing zones under local laws already have resulted in numerous human rights violations including police interrogationsarrestsfines and criminal proceedings for silent prayer on the public street near abortion facilities, essentially resulting in “thought-crime” prosecutions. Currently, army veteran Adam Smith-Connor is awaiting trial for silent prayer in Bournemouth, England.

Germany’s proposed new law would be in direct contravention to a 2023 decision from the country’s top administrative court upholding the freedom of assembly across the street from an abortion facility.

Trump’s Defense Team Investigates Potential for New Trial Following Discovery of Judge’s

This development comes in the wake of revelations concerning the presiding judge’s past connections to Carroll’s legal team, raising questions about potential conflicts of interest.

The controversy centers on Bill Clinton-appointed Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who has been overseeing the defamation case brought by Carroll against Trump.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, expressed shock upon learning that both Judge Kaplan and Roberta Kaplan, who are not related, previously worked together at the same prestigious law firm in the early 1990s.

This connection was uncovered by The New York Post columnist Charles Gasparino, following a tip that Judge Kaplan was once a mentor to Roberta Kaplan.

Habba criticized the lack of disclosure of this past professional relationship, calling it “insane” and “incestuous” and a potential violation of judicial ethics rules.

Mayorkas lashes out at ‘baseless’ GOP allegations ahead of key impeachment vote

Green’s majority began investigating Mayorkas’ handling of the border crisis last year and this month have held hearings on the impeachment articles that were sent by the House last year.

Those articles accuse Mayorkas of having “repeatedly violated laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security” and of having “made false statements to Congress” that the border is secure, and closed and that DHS is in operational control of the border.

Green accused Mayorkas of having  “completely disregarded the separation of powers, a bedrock of our constitutional republic.”
