North Korea Tests Missile Believed Capable of Hitting Japan, Guam

The missile, identified as an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), fell into the East Sea (Sea of Japan) and did not cause any damage. It nonetheless represents the latest in an increasing series of military provocations by dictator Kim Jong-un during the presidential term of American Joe Biden, who has not prioritized the North Korean threat during his tenure.
North Korea is believe to have tested three ballistic missiles this year and has boasted, without offering concrete proof, of having developed an “underwater nuclear weapon system,” “the most powerful tanks in the world,” and and increasingly state-of-the-art spy satellites to monitor Seoul and Washington.
Kim began the year by declaring that reconciliation with South Korea was impossible and that he would not avoid war with South Korean “scum.”

Migrants try to cut through razor wire at Texas border, video shows

Four migrants have been arrested and charged with trying to cut through concertina wire installed along the Texas-Mexico border.
The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the arrests in a post on X, which included video of the alleged act that took place Friday near Gate 36 in El Paso.
“Destroying state property is a crime — those responsible will be arrested & charged,” the department said.
The arrest comes after migrants tore down other razor fencing and rushed National Guard troops last month. More than 200 people have been arrested.
Following the March 21 incident that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called a border riot, the state has beefed up reinforcements on the El Paso stretch of the border. Texas has warned more arrests will come for anyone caught cutting fences.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Nivenson Sarazin, was arrested on Friday in Pembroke Park, according to an article published Monday by the National Desk. The outlet cited an incident report in the matter.
Officials charged the man with sexual battery on a minor, battery on a child by throwing, tossing, projecting or expelling certain bodily fluids or materials, and possession of child pornography.
The suspect also claimed that during some of the incidents the child had told him to stop, refused him, and reportedly told the man, “don’t put it inside me” in reference to his genitals.
The Millennial report said the girl was hospitalized on Wednesday, and police confiscated Sarazin’s phone as evidence once they arrested him.

All female hostages in Gaza being sexually abused, freed hostage says

Yaffa Ohad, the aunt of the captive Noa Argamani, said that recent reports of both Amit Soussana, who described to the New York Times how her captor sexually attacked her at gunpoint, and of a Hamas captive who described in an interrogation how he raped an Israeli woman in a Kibbutz on October 7, have broken the families’ spirit. Ohad warned that time was running out, not just for the captives but for their families in Israel.

Police say they have identified and tracked down the girl and she is now under their protection, along with her mother.
Contact had been made with the government’s children’s minister and the social welfare department to ensure the 12-year-old gets the necessary support while investigations continue, their statement added.
The story is huge news here – and the move by the police has elicited some praise, though others are questioning why there have been no arrests.
The priest in question, Nuumo Borketey Laweh Tsuru XXXIII, is a much-respected member of a community that lives in the Nungua area of the capital, Accra.

Boston residents rip ‘disgusting’ plan to house migrants at former veterans shelter

“I can’t believe the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home, which is for the Vets, is going to [be] used for the immigrants overflow,” Massachusetts resident George Belmonte said on social media. “How about taking care of the homeless vets first? I am all for helping people but how about taking care of those already here and homeless.”
Massachusetts Democratic Governor Maura Healey announced last week that the historic Chelsea Soldiers’ Home would be converted into a facility to house 100 migrant families, including pregnant women.
The location was previously vacant and scheduled for demolition.
Massachusetts resident Denise Levy also expressed anger that migrants would be put in the location for free while veterans “who fought for our country are paying to live there.”
“Disgusting,” she wrote.
According to the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home website, single veterans living there must pay $30 per day with a $300 personal exemption from personal income for nursing home care.
