Ukraine’s New Long-Range Weapon Targets Deep Into Russia

Ukraine says it has a new homegrown long-range weapon that will allow it to strike deep into Russia without asking permission from allies.

With the characteristics of a missile and a drone, the “Palianytsia” was created due to urgent necessity, Ukrainian officials said, as Russia has dominated the skies since the outbreak of the war in February 2022.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Saturday the existence of the Palianytsia, a type of Ukrainian bread and a word so notoriously difficult to pronounce correctly that it was used to unmask suspected spies early in the war. Zelenskyy called it “a new class” of weapon.

Saturday, which marked Ukrain’es 33rd anniversary of independence from the former Soviet Union, also saw the first use of the new weapon, targeting a Russian military installation in the occupied territory, officials said without providing details.

A Ukrainian military video hinted that its range is up to 700 kilometers (430 miles) — on par with the U.S.-supplied ATACMS. It showed a map with various airfields, including Russia’s Savasleyka air base, which lies within that range, adding that the Palianytsia can reach at least 20 Russian airfields…..

Tattoo Inks Recalled Due to ‘High Concentrations of Microorganisms’

The products were manufactured last year and have June-July 2026 expiry dates.

Packed in PET bottles with black dispense screw top and distributed via Amazon across all 50 U.S. states, the items contain “high concentrations of microorganisms which present a health concern to consumers,” the FDA said.

“Commonly reported symptoms of tattoo ink associated infections include the appearance of rashes or lesions consisting of red papules solely in areas where the contaminated ink has been applied. Some tattoo infections can result in permanent scarring,” the notice warned.

Certain symptoms may be difficult to recognize as they may be similar to symptoms seen in other conditions like allergic reactions. No illnesses have been reported so far from the recalled products, the FDA said.

The recall was initiated after an analysis of product samples by the FDA tested positive for multiple microbes.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Texas Governor’s Office

The removal process is ongoing, Gov. Greg Abbott said when announcing the updated removal numbers.

Those removed include noncitizens illegally registered to vote, those who moved out of state, the deceased, those with a felony conviction, among others.

The majority removed total over 463,000 on the suspense list; followed by more than 457,000 deceased, 134,000 voters who responded to an address confirmation that they had moved, 65,000 who failed to respond to a notice of examination, 19,000 who requested to cancel their voter registration, 6,500 noncitizens and 6,000 with a felony conviction.

Of the more than 6,500 potential noncitizens who were removed from the voter rolls, approximately 1,930 have a voter history, according to the data. The Secretary of State’s office is in the process of sending all 1,930 records to the Attorney General’s Office for investigation and potential legal action….

Breonna Taylor’s Boyfriend at Fault for Her Death, Not the Police, Kentucky Judge Rules

A federal judge has thrown out major felony charges against two former Louisville officers accused of falsifying a warrant that led police to Breonna Taylor’s door before they fatally shot her.

US District Judge Charles Simpson’s ruling declared that the actions of Taylor’s boyfriend, who fired a shot at police the night of the raid, were the legal cause of her death, not a bad warrant, per the AP.

  • Charges: Federal charges against former Louisville Police Detective Joshua Jaynes and former Sgt. Kyle Meany were announced by Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022. Garland accused Jaynes and Meany, who were not present at the raid, of knowing they had falsified part of the warrant and put Taylor in a dangerous situation by sending armed officers to her apartment.
  • Rejection: But Simpson wrote in the ruling that “there is no direct link between the warrantless entry and Taylor’s death.” Simpson’s ruling effectively reduced the civil rights violation charges against Jaynes and Meany, which had carried a maximum sentence of life in prison, to misdemeanors. The judge declined to dismiss a conspiracy charge against Jaynes and another charge against Meany, who is accused of making false statements to investigators…..

Japan said it scrambled fighter jets on Monday after a Chinese military aircraft violated its airspace in a further escalation of regional tensions.

The incident comes just weeks after the U.S. military intercepted several Russian and Chinese bombers in international airspace near the coast of Alaska.

The two-minute incursion into Japanese airspace by the Y-9 surveillance aircraft at 11:29 a.m. was the first by a Chinese military plane, local media reported.

The aircraft “violated the territorial airspace off the Danjo Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture”, prompting Japan to deploy “fighter jets on an emergency basis”, Japan’s defense ministry said.

It said steps such as “issuing warnings” to the aircraft were taken. Broadcaster NHK reported that no weapons, such as flare guns, were used as an alert….

Three years after withdrawal, Taliban rules Afghanistan

Greenway said the Taliban has called on the “faithful” to return to Afghanistan, which increases the threat to the U.S. homeland. The Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. were planned and launched from Afghanistan.

“Ultimately means a regional threat but more importantly means a threat against the U.S. homeland is on the march and actively coalescing,” Greenway said.

Greenway said Afghanistan’s Taliban takeover affects the Iran, Israel and Hamas conflict “a great deal.”

The loss of presence in Afghanistan has removed a sort of regional forward operating base across the world by which to act quickly in the Middle East, and that loss of deterrence leads to a more volatile region, Greenway said.

He also said the withdrawal sent a message to other powers like Russia, Iran and Ukraine that the U.S. didn’t have the will to act decisively and efficiently militarily, lowering the deterrence threat.

“I feel sorry for the people that are going to have to go back into Afghanistan when an attack happens on the U.S. homeland,” Greenway said.

Trump Honors 13 Fallen Heroes from Afghanistan Withdrawal at Arlington

Trump laid the wreath and placed his hand over his heart as a bugler played Taps in honor of those lost on August 26, 2021, during a Kabul airport attack.

Meanwhile, there was nothing on the schedule for President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running to takeover the White House in November, and whose administration conducted the withdrawal.

The 13 American service members were killed during a suicide bombing at Abbey Gate at the Kabul International Airport, where the Biden administration staged a hasty and ill-planned evacuation of thousands of American and other nations’ civilians after it failed to foresee the Taliban entering the capital and overthrowing the U.S.- backed government in a surprise rout.

After the ceremony, Trump visited Knauss’s tombstone and called his family, who could not be there….
