Maryland Supreme Court reinstates murder conviction for ‘Serial’ podcast’s Adnan Syed

Citing the rights of victims in a 4-3 decision Friday, the Supreme Court of Maryland upheld the controversial murder conviction of Adnan Syed, the man at the center of the hit “Serial” podcast.
“The Maryland Constitution requires that crime victims and their representatives be treated by agents of the state with dignity, respect and sensitivity during all phases of the criminal justice process,” Justice Jonathan Biran wrote in his opinion.
Syed’s conviction for the 1999 murder of classmate and ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee gained national notoriety after “Serial” detailed what producers described as mistakes and omissions leading to his imprisonment.
“Adnan’s case was a mess,” host Sarah Koenig said in a 2022 episode. “Adnan’s case contains just about every chronic problem our system can cough up.”
The case has moved through the court and appeals process for the last 24 years.
Friday’s ruling centered on whether a lower court gave the victim’s family sufficient opportunity to participate in a 2022 hearing to vacate Syed’s conviction. That hearing ended with a dramatic call from the presiding judge to unshackle Syed.
Arizona migrant busing continues as feds send nearly $50 million more in aid

Over $47 million in federal taxpayer dollars is going toward service programs in Arizona as the state continues to facilitate migrant requests for transportation to other parts of the country, albeit fewer than before.
The funds are part of $380 million in supplemental funds for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and United States Customs and Border Protection for the Shelter and Services program, which a news release states is used for “food, shelter, clothing, acute medical care, and transportation to noncitizens” that are waiting for their immigration court date in the U.S.
Gov. Katie Hobbs told The Center Square at a media availability on Thursday that migrant busing to one’s desired location continues to play a critical role in managing the crisis.
“When it comes to community safety… avoiding unsheltered street releases of migrants is a critical, critical piece of that,” Hobbs said, adding that the state has done a successful job of not doing street releases so far.
“We’re going to continue deploying those funds to ensure that folks get processed, they get to their destination, which usually is not in Arizona,” she continued, adding that a “complete shutdown” of services in Pima County was possible without the new round of funding. …
‘Dangerous’ Stoke-on-Trent predator targeted teenage girls

Pervert Sajid Najeeb has been jailed. The 37-year-old messaged three girls – aged 13, 14 and 15 – and asked them to meet him, engage in sexual activity, and send explicit videos of themselves.
Najeeb was arrested and told police he did not have a mobile phone. But officers found out the number, rang it, and heard it ringing under his mattress.
Officers from Staffordshire Police’s child exploitation team (CET) identified the victims after reviewing the evidence on his phone.
Jailing Najeeb for three years, Judge Smith said: “The probation service concluded that this was a planned, predatory and targeted abuse of children. They consider you to be a high risk of serious harm to children. In my view you are a dangerous offender.”…..

California Treasurer Fiona Ma claims vindication, but taxpayers are on the hook for $350,000

California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, who is running as a Democrat to be the state’s next lieutenant governor in 2026, has closed the case on the harassment allegations against her — at the state’s expense.
A PR firm representing Ma released a statement Thursday announcing that the complainant, Judith Blackwell, was abandoning her claim that Ma sexually harassed her, bringing an end to a three-year case that was set to go to trial soon.
But there’s more to the story.
As first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, and verified by The Bee, while Ma isn’t paying any settlement, the State of California is.
Golden State taxpayers will pay Blackwell to the tune of $350,000, though the agreement specifies that doing so is not an admission of any wrongdoing.
“My client is excited that we came to an amicable resolution of her case and she is ready to move forward with her life,” Blackwell’s attorney, Waukeen McCoy told The Bee.
“And this case presents that no one is above the law.” McCoy said it was ridiculous for Ma to claim that she was vindicated in this case when the resolution included an exchange of hundreds of thousands of dollars. He said the case can only be dismissed once the state pays the settlement, which he has yet to receive. McCoy rejected Gavrilov’s claim that his side did not want to go to trial…..
FBI Whistleblower REACTS to Trump Shooting Investigation Details
FBI whistleblower and co-host of the “American Radicals” podcast Steve Friend exposes the paper-thin explanations government agencies are giving for the Trump assassination attempt.
He also highlights that Trump was given inexperienced security personnel and requests for extra security were denied.
Friend says the whole reason a parallel investigation is needed is because Americans have no faith in these institutions as the FBI hides information.

Tennessee Sen. Blackburn Demands Answers On ICE Losing Thousands Of Unaccompanied Migrant Children

The report also suggests that ICE may have lost track of an additional 291,000 UCs who were never placed in removal proceedings or given court dates, raising concerns that the true number of missing children could be much higher.
In a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Patrick Lechleitner, Blackburn expressed outrage over the findings, emphasizing the grave risks these children now face.
“On your department’s watch, tens of thousands of migrant children are now missing—leaving them highly vulnerable to human trafficking and exploitation. This, unfortunately, is just the latest failure of the Biden-Harris border crisis that continues to unfold,” Blackburn wrote.
Blackburn criticized the agency for its lack of follow-up on these cases, stating, “It is plain to me that you have failed in your most basic duty to keep these children safe from harm.”
The Senator also pointed out that this issue is part of a broader pattern of neglect by the Biden administration, referencing previous reports that HHS had lost track of at least 85,000 migrant children. Despite repeated requests, Secretary Xavier Becerra has not provided more information on these missing children…..

Houthi video shows the Yemeni rebels planted bombs on tanker now threatening Red Sea oil spill

Yemen’s Houthi rebels released footage on Thursday showing their fighters boarded and placed explosives on a Greek-flagged tanker, setting off blasts that put the Red Sea at risk of a major oil spill. The vessel was abandoned earlier, after the Houthis repeatedly attacked it.
In the video, the Iran-backed Houthis chant their motto as the bombs detonated aboard the oil tanker Sounion: “God is the greatest; death to America; death to Israel; curse the Jews; victory to Islam.”
The blasts capped the most-serious attack in weeks by the Houthis in their campaign disrupting the $1 trillion in goods that pass through the Red Sea each year over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip, as well as halting some aid shipments to conflict-ravaged Sudan and Yemen.
Texas Man Is Exonerated After Spending Nearly 34 Years in Prison for Wrongful Conviction

A Dallas County judge granted a motion by the district attorney’s office to dismiss an aggravated robbery charge against Spencer, who was initially convicted of murder in 1987 in the carjacking and death of Jeffrey Young.
Wattley praised Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot for taking a serious look at the evidence that was discredited in the case.
Creuzot said he was “relieved and humbled to help correct this injustice.”
Prosecution witnesses, including a jailhouse informant seeking leniency, gave false testimony, Creuzot said. He added that prosecutors at the time also failed to provide the defense with evidence that would have excluded Spencer from the crime, including fingerprints.
Spencer, who maintained his innocence, saw the 1987 conviction later overturned. But he was then tried again, and convicted, and sentenced to life in prison for aggravated robbery of Young…..

Navy fires commanding officer of destroyer John S. McCain

The Navy fired the commanding officer of the destroyer John S. McCain Friday in the middle of the warship’s Middle East deployment.
The service’s statement announcing the firing did not note a reason for Cmdr. Cameron Yaste’s relief, stating only that it occurred “due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command the guided-missile destroyer.”
Yaste had been in command of the ship since October.
Capt. Allison Christy, deputy commodore of Destroyer Squadron 21, has temporarily assumed command of the warship.
The Everett, Washington-based McCain arrived in the Middle East in April as part of a scheduled deployment.

The Biden/Harris corrupt DOJ has a nasty trick up its sleeve for J6 political prisoners…

As you know, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the J6 defendants in the recent Fischer case.
After the ruling, the DOJ was forced to drop obstruction charges against many J6ers, including Fischer himself. But, sadly, this story doesn’t end there—not with this corrupt, tyrannical regime.
Now, the crooked Biden/Harris DOJ is looking to retry J6ers who have already endured the horrific ordeal of a trial, sentencing, and conviction, all because they ruffled some papers.
Of course, the left couldn’t care less about what the Supreme Court said. They have a tyrannical agenda and will push forward, no matter what the law actually is. Apparently, that’s how you “save democracy.” One of the J6 defense lawyers is rightfully outraged:
Nick Smith, a defense attorney who has been involved in challenging the obstruction charges, said prosecutors’ attempts to move forward misinterpret the Supreme Court’s decision.
“It’s remarkable for the government to be going at this specific charge so persistently when the Supreme Court has told them ‘no,’” Smith said.
The corrupt Biden/Harris DOJ will stop at nothing to persecute non-violent American citizens who dared to dissent on January 6th.
Even after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the J6ers, this regime is shamelessly doubling down, seeking to retry those who have already been through the wringer.
But the Biden/Harris regime isn’t just flexing their corrupt judicial muscles in the US. We recently published a piece exposing how politically connected left-wing groups likely played a key role in the arrest of Telegraph CEO Pavel Durov……
Insects, mold found at Virginia Boar’s Head plant linked to deadly listeria outbreak
AP via Scripps News: A Boar’s Head deli meat plant in Virginia tied to a deadly food poisoning outbreak repeatedly violated federal regulations, including instances of mold, insects, liquid dripping from ceilings, and meat and fat residue on walls, floors and equipment, newly released records show.
Government inspectors logged 69 instances of “noncompliance” with federal rules in the past year, including several in recent weeks, according to documents released through federal Freedom of Information Act requests.
Stolen valor: Two more Dems busted lying about military service, including Trump-hater Vindman…

Well, the list of Democrats lying about their military service is getting so big, we decided to do a “megablog” to cover all the new info flooding the internet.
As we all know, the Big Daddy of Stolen Valor is still Tampon Tim, and when asked about it during the recent CNN interview, he refused to own up to his shameful actions and blamed his lies on “bad grammar.”
Dems really think the American people are stupid.
The latest stolen valor scumbag is Wes Moore—the new political figure the Dems are grooming to be their next “Obama.”
But Mr. Moore, like others before him, is a shameless liar who steals valor and fabricates stories to make himself look better than he is.
Surprisingly, even the New York Times is covering this issue, as Moore’s lies begin to unravel on the national stage. One of the most egregious is his false claim of receiving a Bronze Star—a particularly disgraceful lie, in the Dems stolen valor genre…..
‘LFG!’: Texas judge sets stage for Elon Musk to drag leftist Media Matters before a jury

Elon Musk’s X Corp. filed a lawsuit against Media Matters for America on Nov. 20, 2023, accusing the leftist outfit of dishonestly and “maliciously” suggesting to major advertisers on the platform that its posts had appeared “beside Neo-Nazi and white-nationalist fringe content.” The alleged purpose of Media Matters’ concern-mongering campaign was to “drive advertisers from the platform and destroy X Corp.”
Media Matters, an organization founded by Democratic operative David Brock, attempted to have the lawsuit dismissed in an apparent effort to avoid a jury trial and the possibility of being financially wiped out of existence by having to compensate X Corp. for damages.
Judge Reed O’Connor of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas denied Media Matters’ request Thursday, just as he denied the leftist outfit’s motion to prevent the lawsuit from moving to the discovery phase in April and rejected its desperate attempt to list Tesla as an interested party in the lawsuit.
The case will now go to trial on April 7.
Musk, who has repeatedly claimed that Media Matters is “pure evil,” responded to news of the dismissal on X, writing, “LFG!” — an acronym indicating his readiness to tangle with the so-called watchdog in court….
‘We Lost One of Our Own’: Dallas Police Officer Killed in Shootout, Suspect Shot Dead

A Dallas police officer was killed in a shooting outside a community center in Oak Cliff late Thursday night, and two other officers were wounded in a gun battle with the suspected shooter. Police fatally shot the officer’s suspected murderer after a highway chase.
The department said officers responded to an “officer in distress” call in the 900 block of East Ledbetter Drive, outside the For Oak Cliff Community Center, just after 10 p.m. Neighbors in Oak Cliff told NBC 5 they heard a flurry of gunfire. Around a dozen gunshots were heard at about 10:12 p.m. in a home surveillance video obtained by NBC 5.
“When our officers arrived, they found a Dallas police officer who had been shot in his marked patrol vehicle,” said Kristin Lowman, director of communications at the Dallas Police Department.
Lowman said responding officers exchanged gunfire with a person, and two other officers were injured in the shootout…..
Donald Trump Files Request to Move NY Hush Money Case to Federal Court Ahead of September Sentencing

Former President Donald Trump asked a federal court late Thursday to intervene in his New York hush-money criminal case, seeking a pathway to overturn his felony conviction and indefinitely delay his sentencing next month.
Lawyers for the current Republican nominee asked the federal court in Manhattan to seize the case from the state court where it was tried, arguing that the historic prosecution violated his constitutional rights and ran afoul of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent presidential immunity ruling.
Trump’s lawyers, who failed last year in a pretrial bid to get the case shifted to federal court, said moving it now will give him an “unbiased forum, free from local hostilities” to address those issues. In state court, they said, Trump has been the victim of “bias, conflicts of interest, and appearances of impropriety.”
If the case is moved to federal court, Trump’s lawyers said they will then seek to have the verdict overturned and the case dismissed on immunity grounds.
If the case remains in state court and Trump’s sentencing proceeds as scheduled on Sept. 18 — about seven weeks before Election Day — it would be election interference, his lawyers said, raising the specter that Trump could be sent to jail just as early voting is getting under way…
California officials ticket the ‘Bubble Pirate,’ an artist and Navy veteran, for ‘fluid littering’

A Navy veteran in California has been entertaining the local community with his creative bubble performances for over 10 years.
But Sandy Snakenberg, known as the “Bubble Pirate,” was donning his pirate costume and performing his usual bubble show at La Jolla Cove in San Diego last week when he was issued a ticket by park officials, he told Fox News Digital.
The ticket alleges that Snakenberg, 63, violated San Diego’s municipal code against littering due to the fluid from his bubbles.
Snakenberg said in a phone interview that he asked the park ranger to note that the liquid was from bubbles, but the officer did not do so, he said.
The ticket mandates that Snakenberg appear in court in October.
Snakenberg said he has dyslexia. He makes his living from his bubble artistry and entertainment, he said. The van with all of his equipment and props doubles as his home. ….
OPINION: Harris would turn nation into Kamalafornia, where illegal immigrants get free money

Way back when we didn’t even know who the candidates would be in November’s election, I said that there would be one choice above all.
The choice for the country would boil down to “Which direction America?” And if you boiled that question down further the question would be “California or Florida?”
Both states are sunshine states. Both have a huge amount going for them in their weather, their natural beauty and much more. But they are also polar opposites — geographically and, more importantly, politically.
Like Gavin Newsom, Kamala is one of those West Coast politicians who after ruining a city and then a state seems to hope that they can roll out the same disaster across the whole land.
Today, Florida is a poster child state for Republicans. A place of low taxes and reformable education. And a state that was sane during the insanity of COVID.
California, on the other hand, is the poster child state for Democrats. A place of high taxes, the most insanely indoctrinated education. And a place which went absolutely nuts during COVID.
Between them you still see the choice for this country. And the decision of Kamala Harris to run for the Presidency makes the choice even clearer.
Because of course before she began her DEI journey to the White House, Kamala was Senator for California. Before that she was Attorney General of California and District Attorney of San Francisco.
When people look at the scarred dystopia of what should be one of America’s most beautiful cities, they can to a great extent thank Kamala.
The current situation in San Francisco and California as a whole is Kamala’s creation.
What wonders can we expect?
Well just yesterday we learned that the Democrat-controlled California Legislature has found a new way to go bust even faster than before……

Could Californians get electric bill refunds?

In early August, there were rumblings that Gov. Gavin Newsom was working with legislators on a proposal to reduce electricity bills. Details were scant, but the need was clear: Californians pay more than twice the national average, with bills nearly doubling within the last decade.
After weeks of closed-door negotiations, legislators unveiled six bills Wednesday night, which are dividing experts. Some say the measures take a meaningful, albeit small, step toward solving the state’s energy problems, while others argue they don’t do enough, write CalMatters reporters Alejandro Lazo, Julie Cart and Alejandra Reyes-Velarde.
Assembly Bill 3121 includes a rebate program, which would reportedly amount to one-time payments of $30 to $70 per household. But there’s a rub: The money would come from programs that help reduce energy bills for low-income residents and provide upgrades to heating and air conditioning systems at schools.
- Loretta Lynch, an environmental consultant and former president of the California Public Utilities Commission: “The last minute, gut-and-amend backroom deals do not attack the root causes of California’s incredibly high energy bills. Instead, they rob Peter to pay Paul — taking away key funds from programs that work to create a sham bill reduction.”
The measure is led by Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, an Irvine Democrat who is carrying another bill in the package that would require the utilities commission to study how to reduce the cost of expanding the state’s electric grid for ratepayers…..
