‘It’s a zoo out here, man’: Teen girl killed after driver plows into crowd following late-night fight in downtown Minneapolis

Ateenage girl was killed after a hit-and-run driver plowed into a crowd following an after-midnight fight involving multiple teens over the weekend in downtown Minneapolis — and business owners and residents are fed-up with the lawlessness, WCCO-TV reported.
Officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash on Fifth Street North at Hennepin Avenue around 12:23 a.m. Saturday, the station said, citing police, who said the female suspect drove in reverse on Hennepin and then drove the wrong way on Fifth Street into the crowd.
“The video of this incident is absolutely horrific,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said, according to WCCO. “There aren’t words to describe how tragic and senseless it is.”
The station interviewed residents and business owners who expressed outrage and frustration over what they call an out-of-control environment that plays out on a weekly basis.
“It’s a nuthouse out here, man,” one downtown resident told WCCO. “That’s every weekend. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened sooner.” The resident added to the station off camera that “it’s a zoo out here, man, and it’s not getting any better.”….
An American pastor detained in China for nearly 20 years has been released

The U.S. State Department says a Christian pastor from California has been freed from China after nearly 20 years behind bars and is back home in the U.S. Advocacy groups say 68-year-old David Lin was detained after he entered China in 2006, was convicted of contract fraud and sentenced to life in prison
David Lin, 68, was detained after he entered China in 2006, later convicted of contract fraud and sentenced to life in prison, according to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and advocacy groups.
“Praise God! We got the call late last night!!! Dad is free and over Alaska now,” the pastor’s daughter, Alice Lin, said by text message Sunday to Bob Fu, a longtime supporter and the founder of China Aid, an U.S.-based advocacy group for persecuted activists in China. Fu shared with The Associated Press a screenshot of the text sent before the Lins reunited.
“We welcome David Lin’s release from prison in the People’s Republic of China. He has returned to the United States and reunited with his family for the first time in nearly 20 years,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters.
“We’ll continue to push the release of other Americans,” he said. “It’s something that we continue to work on. It’s an important step forward, and we’re going to continue to push for the release of other Americans.”
Lin frequently traveled to China in the 1990s to spread the gospel, according to China Aid, which says Lin sought a license from the Chinese government to carry out Christian ministry. It’s unlikely he was granted permission, and he was detained in 2006 when assisting a church not authorized by Chinese officials, the group said….

The Navy’s Most Advanced Virginia-Class Submarine Is ‘Gender-Integrated’

-This submarine is the third Navy vessel named after the Garden State, following the renowned Iowa-class battleship BB-62.
-Notably, the USS New Jersey is the first fully gender-integrated fast-attack submarine, with special modifications to its living quarters to accommodate its crew, including 29 female sailors. Commanding Officer Steve Hall emphasized the crew’s diversity and professionalism.
-The submarine carries the legacy of BB-62, the most decorated warship in Navy history, and has been nicknamed “Jersey Girl” with memorabilia from the state adorning its interior.
The USS New Jersey may be the third vessel to honor the state, but it is also unique in that it is the first fully gender-integrated fast-attack submarine. The U.S. Navy lifted the ban on women in submarines in 2010, but there have been concerns that the living quarters on the fast-attack boats would be an issue. The sea service has sought to address the issues, including providing additional privacy in the showers and longer stalls in the washrooms on the 377-foot-long submarines.
In addition, overhead valves were redesigned with the height and reach to accommodate women sailors.
SSN-796 will have big shoes to fill when it comes to honoring New Jersey, as BB-62 – fittingly known as the Big-J – has the distinction of being the most decorated warship in U.S. Navy history, seeing service in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, while also being returned to service in the 1980s as part of President Ronald Reagan’s effort to build a 600-ship strong fleet.
REACTION: Something is VERY OFF about the 2nd Trump assassination attempt
Former president Donald Trump was allegedly targeted for assassination a second time over the weekend, this time at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida. Glenn takes a close look at all that we currently know, and things look VERY suspicious.
Glenn asks the questions the state-run media won’t:
Why did the potential attacker bring a Go-Pro and body armor (misleadingly referred to by the media as “ceramic tiles”)? How did he even know Trump would be golfing at that time? Did the Secret Service actually do its job? Did the suspect, with all his ties to Ukraine and history of media interviews and donations to the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue, have any outside help?
Miranda Devine Opinion: Reckless rhetoric from Dems and media to blame for second Trump assassination attempt

An eagle-eyed Secret Service agent reportedly spotted the barrel of a gun in bushes a few hundred yards from where the former president was playing golf and shot at the would-be assassin, who was later arrested.
It’s a frightening development that highlights the recklessness of the hateful rhetoric constantly aimed at Trump by his political opponents, even after he was shot at a rally in Pennsylvania in July.
Last week, Kamala Harris falsely accused Trump of calling Nazis “fine people,” promising a “bloodbath,” and being responsible for “the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”
She and Joe Biden and their surrogates constantly exaggerate the J6 Capitol riot and use it to frame Trump as a “threat to democracy.”
Biden has labeled Trump and “MAGA Republicans” as “semi-fascists” and domestic terrorists.
Tim Walz called Trump a “fascist” and a “threat to Democracy” who will “put people’s lives in danger.”
On Saturday, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) described Trump as “a candidate explicitly running on the promise of political violence.”
In Orwellian fashion, they accuse Trump and his supporters of stoking violence, when the evidence is almost all the other way.
Conveniently, whenever Democrats are feeling the heat on a damaging issue, there are always bomb threats or phony-looking racist leaflets to distract the media and get maximum publicity. ….

Feds arrest New Hanover County Moms for Liberty vice chair on Jan. 6 charges

The federal government is charging Wilmington-area political activist and Moms for Liberty leader Justina Guardino with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in the Capitol grounds and building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol building.
The special agent said that Guardino initially told law enforcement that she was at Trump’s rally but, after its conclusion, returned to her hotel room. She later admitted to law enforcement that she returned to the Capitol grounds — and saw no barriers blocking her path and that there was one broken window. She said she did not see or smell tear gas.
Guardino said she entered the Capitol and found it to be “peaceful,” “akin to a tour,” and “open to the public.” She later admitted that this was not a “public tour,” as there were no security screenings or metal protectors, nor was she asked to show identification.
Around 3:17 p.m. that day, officers closed the window Guardino had entered through and told her and other rioters to exit the building. Guardino complied and left, but images show her re-entering the building at 3:21 p.m. She started filming again but was redirected by law enforcement to leave. She did so at 3:24 p.m.
NPR has a database of arrests and charges related to January 6. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) estimates that about 2,000 people were involved in criminal acts, and as of September 4, there have been 1,472 charges….

Second Trump Assassination Attempt: ‘Trump Needs Private Security, Not Secret Service’
The Daily Signal’s Tyler O’Neil sat down with Secret Service and border security expert Lora Ries to discuss the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. Coming off the heels of the Butler, Pennsylvania, shooting, occurring almost two months to the day from this latest attempt on the former president’s life, many are worried about Donald Trump’s safety as we head into November.
Does the former president need to bring in a private security force to ensure his safety? How did the suspected gunman, 58-year-old Ryan Routh, know that Donald Trump would be golfing in West Palm Beach on Sunday?
This and more with Lora Ries, Director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at the Heritage Foundation.

Alleged Trump golf course gunman has lengthy North Carolina criminal record

Routh is an enthusiastic supporter of Ukraine in its war with Russia and once traveled there, where he told a Newsweek Romania interviewer that the Ukrainian military wouldn’t let him enlist because of his age and lack of military experience. He also said he had recently moved to Hawaii.
He told a New York Times interviewer in Ukraine that he was a construction contractor.
In multiple social media posts, Routh wrote about the importance of backing Ukraine and posted that he was trying to help veterans of the Afghan special forces join the Ukrainian military.
In 2023, Routh self-published a book, in which he urged Iran to kill Trump, AP reported. He also wrote that he once voted for the former president.
State records show he had multiple convictions in North Carolina, including several for possession of stolen goods, several for carrying a concealed weapon, hit and run, and, in 2002, possession of a weapon of mass destruction…
