AI’s shocking views of how Europeans see Americans based on their state

An AI was asked to create images of what Europeans think the average American from different states looks like – and the results are shocking.

According to the tech, Europeans hold racist and sexist stereotypes about Americans, and generally see people from the US as gluttonous, overweight consumers who only eat McDonalds.
That belief churned out a series of startling images – only of women – that presents how Americans are seen.
In the bot’s view, only Florida and Texas have attractive women. The images presented to represent those states were of scantily-clad blonde beauties.
The other states were summed up with photos of obese ladies chowing down on McDonalds, some of them with guns, and others in sports memorabilia.
Pennsylvania county finds 2,500 suspected fraudulent voter registrations as state election officials investigate

A criminal investigation has been launched after thousands of suspected fraudulent voter registrations were discovered in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.
The Lancaster County Board of Elections announced Friday that staff members identified 2,500 suspected fraudulent voter registration applications, which had been dropped off at the election office.
Some had false names, suspicious handwriting, questionable signatures, incorrect addresses or other problematic details.
Two other Pennsylvania counties ‘received similar applications’ and were notified to check into them, Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams said at a news conference. She declined to name the other counties.
‘It appears to be an organized effort at this point,’ said Adams, an elected Republican. ‘But of course, it’s an ongoing investigation. And we’ll be looking into who exactly participated in it and how far up it goes.’
At the news conference, Lancaster Commissioner Ray D’Agostino, a Republican who chairs the election board, said: ‘The fact of the matter is, we’ve contained this. This is not right. It’s illegal. It’s immoral. And we found it, and we’re going to take care of it.’

Transit workers fired for refusing COVID vaccines on religious grounds are awarded $1.3M each

Six San Francisco public transport employees who were fired for refusing to get COVID-19 vaccines have been awarded more than $1 million each.
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) employees filed a discrimination lawsuit saying they were wrongly terminated for refusing the vaccine on “sincerely held religious beliefs.”
Federal jurors this week awarded the group a total of $7.8 million, or $1.3 million each.
BART officials failed to prove an undue hardship and the six employees had revealed a genuine conflict between their faith and the vaccine, the jury ruled Wednesday.
“The rail employees chose to lose their livelihood rather than deny their faith,” said lead trial attorney Kevin Snyder.
“That in itself shows the sincerity and depth of their convictions. After nearly three years of struggle, these essential workers feel they were heard and understood by the jury and are overjoyed and relieved by the verdict.”
The $7.8 million payout was calculated from lost wages, plus $1 million, for each fired employee.

McDonald’s E. coli outbreak hits 3 more states, 26 new cases reported

Health officials on Friday announced 26 new E. coli cases among people who ate at McDonald’s amid an outbreak linked to the fast-food chain’s Quarter Pounder burger.
The new cases bring the total number of known infections to 75. Twenty-two people have been hospitalized and one person has died.
Risk to the public remains low as McDonald’s and one of its onion suppliers take action to identify the root of the contamination, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The outbreak now spans 13 states including Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, and portions of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, according to the CDC.
McDonald’s restaurants in each state have temporarily stopped using their current supply of Quarter Pounder slivered onions and beef patties.
Investigators are working to confirm which ingredient is making people sick and whether other restaurants might be affected…
Costco recalls chicken products over listeria contamination

The most recent recalls include Readywise 110 Serving Emergency Protein Bucket and Red’s Southwestern Grill Chicken Mini Burritos, El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken & Cheese Taquitos, Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara and Tagliatelle Grilled White Chicken & Portabello Mushroom Sauce.
Costco typically contacts shoppers who have purchased a recalled item and also maintains a list that includes the lot codes and best-by dates of affected products.
The majority of the recalls were connected to a large recall of BrucePac ready-to-eat chicken products found to be contaminated with listeria.
Readywise’s serving bucket is a product of prepared packages of shelf-stable food with a shelf life of 25 years, meant to be used as emergency supplies. The company said the recall was based on potential listeria contamination by one of its suppliers.
Customers are urged not to consume the product but should return it to Costco for a full refund….
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey Announces Investigation into Google’s Censorship of Conservatives

“I am launching an investigation into Google — the biggest search engine in America — for censoring conservative speech during the most consequential election in our nation’s history,” Bailey revealed in a Thursday X post.
“Google is waging war on the democratic process,” the attorney general added. “It’s time to fight back.”
Bailey told Fox Business, “We have reason to believe that Google is manipulating their search results to deemphasize information about the Trump campaign prior to Election Day.”
“I will not allow Google to interfere in the most consequential election in our nation’s history,” the attorney general added.
Notably, Google censored one of the most historic events in American citizens’ lifetime, the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The last time a U.S. president was wounded in an assassination attempt and survived was 1981, when John Hinckley Jr. shot Ronald Reagan.
The tech giant responded to concerns raised by prominent conservatives regarding its search autocomplete function — particularly its censorship of searches related to the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump’s life — saying Google is “working on improvements” including the autocomplete function….
Fact Check: Facebook Plans to Block News Political Ads in Week Leading Up to Election

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has announced that it will implement a “restriction period” on new political ads in the week leading up to the 2024 election. The company confirmed that from Tuesday, October 29, through Tuesday, November 5, new ads about politics, elections, and social issues will not be allowed on the platform.
This is not the first time Facebook has taken such a step. The company implemented a similar ban on new political ads in the week leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
Meta explained the reasoning behind the restriction period, stating that it recognizes “there may not be enough time to contest new claims made in the ads” during the final days of an election.
It is important to note that the restriction period only applies to new ads related to politics, social issues, or the election. Facebook users can still post about these topics on their personal feeds.
But when individuals post about politics, Mark Zuckerberg’s platform bury the posts, reducing visibility by as much as 63 percent….

The Post endorses Donald Trump for president — the clear choice for a better future

Voters carry a heavy responsibility in this election — one of the most consequential in the history of this great nation.
The choice will have reverberations for decades, deciding which of two very different paths for the future Americans will take.
If history is any guide, the track records of the last two administrations provide a clearly comparable record.
We must choose the following:
- A secure border and a sensible immigration system.
- Safer cities and support for law and order.
- A thriving, low-tax and low-regulation economy for all — fueled by an energy policy that supports, not penalizes, industry and households.
- Common-sense policies that restore the power of parents to choose what is best for their children on school choice, gender surgery and trans athletes playing in female sports.
- An America that’s respected on the world stage — feared by our enemies and trusted by our allies.
Only one candidate can credibly claim to lead us there.
To borrow from Ronald Reagan’s famous “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”: Voters should ask themselves if they were better off under Trump or Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
His opponents focus on how Trump’s administration was marked by a relentless soap opera of high drama and chaos — much of which they fueled.
And yes, many find him offensive — and we say fair enough: He can be ridiculously hyperbolic.
But before COVID wreaked havoc across the globe, Trump’s first-term results were paychecks that grew markedly faster than inflation, the lowest unemployment in 50 years, a secure border and peace overseas….
Virginia school board silenced parents concerned with MS-13-affiliated student in school, lawsuit claims

A group of parents is suing the Loudoun County School Board in northern Virginia, claiming they were silenced by the board when attempting to raise concerns about a student who was allowed to return to school despite alleged ties to the notorious MS-13 gang.
The group of parents at the center of the lawsuit claims that they were silenced by the board during a public meeting when trying to raise concerns about reports that a student who is allegedly in the country illegally and affiliated with MS-13 was allowed to return to school despite being arrested for carrying a gun and threatening to shoot another student.
“Time and time again, the Loudoun County School Board has demonstrated through its actions an unwillingness to respect those rights exercised by community members and parents commenting concerned with the actions of their public schools. This latest constitutional violation is even more pronounced, given that the topic was related to the safety of students,” America First Legal Senior Advisor Ian Prior, whose organization is representing the parents, said in a statement….
US judge orders Virginia to restore voters removed from rolls, restoring access for thousands

A federal judge on Friday ordered Virginia to halt its removal of potential non-citizens from state voter rolls, a decision expected to restore the voting rights to some 1,600 residents ahead of Election Day.
U.S. Judge Patricia Giles issued a preliminary injunction Friday to reinstate all voters that had been removed from state voter rolls in the state in the last 90 days, finding that the removals had been in fact “systematic,” not individualized, and were thus a violation of federal law.
In issuing the injunction, Giles said there is reason to believe voters were being mistakenly removed from the rolls. “This process has resulted in eligible voters having their voting registration flagged,” she said.
And while Giles concurred it is “undoubtedly in the public interest for ineligible voters to be removed,” she noted it is also in the public interest “for states to comply with federal law particularly the right to vote.”…
