Texas rancher killed by suspected cartel IED on Mexican border as authorities warn of ‘growing threat’

Rancher Antonio Céspedes Saldierna, 74, who worked on both sides of the border, along with Horacio Lopez Peña, were killed in the blast in Tamaulipas, Mexico, which was just south of Brownsville, Texas. Lopez’s wife, Ninfa Griselda Ortega, was hospitalized with injuries.

Saldierna was driving on his ranch when he hit the explosive device, causing it to detonate, according to KRGV.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller said the deadly explosion is part of a “growing threat posed by cartel activity along our southern border” and encourages ranchers “to exercise extreme caution” in the area.

“I encourage everyone in the agricultural industry to stay vigilant, remain aware of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Additionally, you can avoid dirt roads and remote areas, refrain from touching unfamiliar objects that could be explosive devices, limit travel to daylight hours, stay on main roads, and avoid cartel-controlled regions,” said Miller.

Saldierna’s son Ramiro Céspedes, a US Army veteran who was injured by an IED during a deployment, was shocked to learn of his father’s killing back home.

“I consider this a terrorist attack because if I went to war to fight terrorists, and I’m seeing the same thing here to me – my personal opinion – it is a terrorist attack,” Ramiro said…

Trump uses the CIA to Finally Go After a REAL Target

The Trump administration has shifted the CIA’s focus from Ukraine to the southern border. That’s according to Todd Bensman, a senior fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, who says the CIA is now focused on dismantling the Mexican drug cartels and cutting off their stream of income through drug trafficking and human trafficking.

He also says the Biden administration fast-tracked illegal aliens through TSA to avoid the image of a clogged border and that border czar Tom Homan is picking up the pieces.

France Eyeing Deployment Of Nuclear-Armed Rafale Fighters To Germany: Report

MBDA

France is apparently looking at the possibility of deploying air-launched nuclear weapons to Germany, a consideration that’s being made amid growing concerns that the United States will no longer guarantee European security under NATO.

Broader discussions about nuclear deterrence among European leaders point very clearly to the deepening crisis in the transatlantic alliance under U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasized by calls from German leader-in-waiting Friedrich Merz for talks with his British and French colleagues about European “nuclear sharing or at least nuclear security.”

According to a report in the British newspaper The Telegraph, which cites an unnamed French official, “Posting a few French nuclear jet fighters in Germany should not be difficult and would send a strong message” to Russia, which would aim to bolster Europe’s nuclear deterrent.

While it’s unclear how seriously the proposal is being discussed at the highest levels in France, there is a logic behind raising the idea at this point in public….

Air-Launched Supersonic Anti-Ship Missile Being Tested By Taiwan

Taiwan appears to be moving toward adding a supersonic anti-ship cruise missile to its F-CK-1C/D Indigenous Defense Fighters (IDF).

The current timeline for the introduction of the air-launched version of the homegrown HF-3 missile is unclear, but when fully integrated, it will provide the Republic of China Air Force (ROCAF) with a powerful new capability to better counter China’s growing naval might.

A photo of an F-CK-1 carrying a HF-3 missile was recently published by Taiwan’s United Daily News.

The image, submitted by an anonymous reader of that newspaper, appears to show test rounds of the missile, which is part of the Hsiung Feng, or Brave Wind series. One of the large missiles is carried under each wing.

The jet also has a 275-gallon fuel tank under the fuselage and AIM-9P Sidewinder air-to-air missiles on the wingtip stations. The HF-3 carries calibration marks that are used to make it easier to monitor a store after launch.

The article notes that the ROCAF and the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) have resumed work on the air-launched HF-3, “which was previously reported to have been stalled for a long time.”

The NCSIST, which originally developed the HF-3 for launch from warships and ground launchers, is a state research and development agency broadly similar to the Pentagon’s DARPA but with its own production capability…

China puts Philippines on hypersonic nuke alert

China’s beef with the Philippines for positioning US Typhon missiles on its territory appears to have entered a threatening new phase amid reports China is developing a new submarine capable of carrying nuclear-tipped hypersonic missiles specifically to neutralize the missile threat.

This month, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that a semi-official military magazine suggested that a Chinese attack submarine currently under development at a shipyard in Wuhan might be designed to target medium-range missile defense systems in the Philippines.

The report indicates that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has not yet confirmed if the submarine class is under development.

However, SCMP notes that a publication from Naval & Merchant Ships, owned by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), a PLA Navy (PLA-N) supplier, mentions details about its design and features, thus validating its existence and reasons for its development.

According to SCMP, the publication mentions that the US Typhon launchers, which have been stationed in the Philippines since April 2024, can hit targets in mainland China from the northern Philippine island of Luzon.

The US Typhon missile system’s presence in the Philippines has heightened tensions with China. In September 2024, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi mentioned that the deployment of the Typhon “undermines regional peace and stability,” stating that the deployment “is not in the interests of regional countries.”

However, Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro hit back at the remarks, stating that China is using “reverse psychology” to stop the Philippines from building its defense capabilities…

Biden’s IRS Caught Leaking Taxpayer Information of Over 400,000 Americans Including Pres. Trump as Leftists Sue to Stop DOGE Over Alleged ‘Privacy’ Concerns – Elon Musk Responds

Image: Wikicommons by G. Edward Johnson

The House Judiciary Committee released a new disclosure today that revealed the IRS under Joe Biden leaked taxpayer records of over 400,000 innocent Americans. The committee notes that Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) launched an investigation into information leaks last year.

The committee also reveals that in May 2024, an IRS spokesman attempted to downplay a leak that exposed this information. This turned out to be at least a partial cover-up.

“New disclosure reveals that the Biden IRS leaked taxpayer information of over 405,000 Americans — including President Trump’s. The IRS’s admission confirms the Committee’s suspicion and recent reports that show the scope of the leak was much broader than what the Biden Administration’s IRS initially led the public to believe,” the post reads.

“In May 2024, an IRS spokesman stated that “[m]ore than 70,000” taxpayers were affected. We found out that it’s actually over 405,000 taxpayers! This is a MASSIVE scandal. Jim Jordan first launched his inquiry into these leaks last year.”…

Homeland Security, Texas agents arrest around 90 illegal immigrants

An illegal alien is being arrested and escorted by law enforcement during an operation conducted near Houston. (Fox News)

Roughly 90 illegal migrants were arrested in and around Colony Ridge, Texas, a largely Hispanic development outside Houston, during an operation targeting criminal and illegal migrants.

Early Monday morning, Gov. Greg Abbott announced on X that Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and special agents were assisting Homeland Security Investigations with the operation after months of planning.

“Border czar” Tom Homan, sat down with Fox News after he joined the operation and said it was part of a “larger criminal investigation.”

While Homan could not reveal too many details about the investigation, he referred to the dozens of arrests Monday as “phase one.”

Among those arrested, ICE tells Fox News, was Florentin Chevez-Luna, a 39-year-old three-time previously deported criminal alien from El Salvador.

ICE Homeland Security Investigations and Texas DPS took him into custody in Plum Grove, Texas. According to ICE, he had a criminal arrest warrant for alleged repeated sexual abuse of a minor over an eight-year period from November 2008 to November 2016…

Federal technology staffers resign rather than help Musk and DOGE

Federal technology staffers resign rather than help Musk and DOGEBy BRIAN SLODYSKO and BYRON TAUAssociated PressThe Associated PressWASHINGTON

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 20 civil service employees resigned Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”

“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”

The employees also warned that many of those enlisted by Musk to help him slash the size of the federal government under President Donald Trump’s administration were political ideologues who did not have the necessary skills or experience for the task ahead of them.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was dismissive of the mass resignation.

“Anyone who thinks protests, lawsuits, and lawfare will deter President Trump must have been sleeping under a rock for the past several years,” Leavitt said. “President Trump will not be deterred from delivering on the promises he made to make our federal government more efficient and more accountable to the hardworking American taxpayers.”..

Texas authorities believe they prevented a mass casualty attack targeting police

Texas authorities believe they thwarted a mass casualty attack against police officers. The Houston FBI posted a message to X on Monday, Feb. 24, detailing the arrest of a suspect allegedly planning an attack on police “similar to the 2016 Dallas ambush.”

The FBI Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Police Department arrested Seth Gregori, 21, who goes by the name Andrea, on state charges Monday.

Investigators believe Gregori planned an attack similar to the 2016 ambush that left five Dallas police officers dead and more than a half-dozen injured.

Authorities arrested Gregori on charges of terroristic threats impeding public service/causing public fear or bodily injury and criminal trespass.

Police booked Gregori at the county jail, where he is being held on a $50,500 bond, KIII-TV reported.

FBI was notified of the threats, conducted an investigation and secured an arrest warrant, according to police.

The Corpus Christi Police Department and the FBI listed the 21-year-old suspect as a man. However, the Nueces County Jail lists Gregori as a female in the jail’s booking information…

Musk warns again on emails, will use AI to assess federal workers

Elon Musk is doubling down on a warning he sent to federal employees, which was to respond to an email with a recap of accomplishments from the last week, or be fired. Hours after the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) told agencies that responses to the recap email were optional, Musk again threatened workers Monday evening, Feb. 24 in a post on X.

“Subject to the discretion of the president, they will be given another chance. Failure to respond a second time will result in termination.”

Musk’s statement came as President Donald Trump defended the mandate.

“There was a lot of genius in sending it,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Monday. “We’re trying to find out if people are working, and so we’re sending a letter to people, ‘Please tell us what you did last week.’ If people don’t respond, it’s very possible that there is no such person or they’re not working.”

Leaders of various agencies told their employees they didn’t have to comply with the request, while some told their staff they should, creating a rift among President Trump’s top allies.

In a message to staff on Saturday, Feb. 22, FBI Director Kash Patel said, “When and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses.”

The Department of Defense said it was responsible for reviewing employee performance and it would coordinate responses to the OPM email, asking workers to pause a response….
