Huge: SCOTUS Orders Maine Dems to Restore Voting Privileges of GOP Lawmaker Silenced for Defending Girls

(AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein)

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) handed Maine state Rep. Laurel Libby (R), not to mention free speech, a huge victory Tuesday afternoon by restoring her voting privileges in the Maine House of Representatives.

In a 7-2 ruling, with Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson and Sonia Sotomayor dissenting, SCOTUS ordered the Maine legislature to revoke the February 15th censure of Libby, which saw her unable to vote on behalf of her 9,000 constituents.

As RedState has previously reported, Libby first got into trouble with some of her Democrat colleagues when she posted to social media the photo of a biological male celebrating his win in a girl’s track and field event. Libby noted that the boy had come in fifth place a year earlier when competing in the same event in the boys division, but emerged the victor when he decided to compete as a girl.

Despite the fact that Libby had used a photo that was publicly available, Maine Speaker of the House Ryan Fecteau (D) censured Libby and demanded she apologize for her actions … or else.

That “or else,” as reported earlier in May be our own Bonchie, was stripping Libby of her voting privileges and banning her from speaking on the record….

Such a revocation of voting and speaking rights meant that thousands of Maine residents did not have their interests represented in the state legislature.

Libby filed an appeal in late April seeking emergency relief; her attorneys wrote at the time, “The member’s vote is not her own; it belongs to her district. And depriving an entire district of representation is no more constitutional than excluding that district from a redistricting plan in the first place.”

And the Supreme Court agreed….

Watch: Bring Your Kids to Work Day at White House Sparks Some Great Trump Questions/Answers

AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein

“National Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day” at the White House sparked some adorable and truly great questions from the kids about President Donald Trump.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday welcomed the children of White House journalists and staff members into the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. The kids got to ask questions about the president, which ranged from whether he liked to give hugs to what he will be doing about things like climate change.

The first little girl was too shy to ask the question, so her mom answered, “She wants to know if President Trump likes to give hugs.”

“You know, I think he does,” Leavitt replied. “I have seen him give many hugs to children and his family and our beautiful First Lady (Melania Trump). So, yes. I do think he likes to give hugs.”

Another child asked what Trump’s favorite food was, and the press secretary said, “Probably steak.”

One question that drew laughter from the secretary was what President Trump’s “favorite ice cream” is.

“I have seen the president eat ice cream sundaes before with chocolate sauce and some toppings too,” Leavitt replied. “Raise your hand if you like ice cream sundaes.”

More than a handful of hands in the room shot into the air at that moment, as Leavitt joked, “It’s a very popular policy position to have.”

But one child asked possibly the best question, which also happened to draw the loudest laughter from those in attendance….

First Lady Melania Trump also stopped by the South Lawn to visit with the kids and check out their arts and crafts of decorating flags in honor of the day.

Quite a few really cute videos of Melania with the kids have surfaced online…

No, Hamas Has Not Been Destroyed

Lately there’s been a clamor of voices calling for an end to the fighting in Gaza. And I mean beyond the usual theatrics from the anti-Israel crowd. Pro-Israel people have claimed that Hamas is destroyed because most of its leaders are gone.

Yes, most of the top Hamas leaders inside Israel are dead. The terror group has suffered serious battlefield casualties. But it is by no stretch of the imagination destroyed.

The thing to remember is that Hamas is just the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza. Unlike Al Qaeda or ISIS, the core of Hamas consists not just of armed terrorists, but the Brotherhood itself. And the Brotherhood/Hamas is still running Gaza.

Suggesting that Hamas has been destroyed is like saying the Jihad is over because we got Bin Laden.

Hamas just folds itself in and out of not only the Brotherhood, but the various fronts and groups it infiltrates from Al Jazeera to Islamic food aid agencies. Hamas operated out of mosques and charitable groups before it formally began to engage in terrorism.

After Oct 7, Israel has destroyed a lot of the Hamas operational capability, but the group is not gone and every adult male Brotherhood member and clans aligned with Hamas will make it all too easy for the terror group to rebound…

Richard Grenell returns to the United States with Joe St. Clair, an Air Force veteran detained in Venezuela since 2024

Trump admin. secures release of wrongfully detained Washington veteran.

This Tuesday, U.S. citizen Joe St. Clair, a decorated veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was released in Venezuela following negotiations between the government of Nicolas Maduro and Richard Grenell, special envoy of President Donald Trump.

The information was shared by journalist Jason Rantz on his X account, where he noted:

BREAKING NEWS: Trump admin. secures release of wrongfully detained Washington veteran.

Joe St. Clair, who served with distinction in the Air Force, was in South America working in the food service industry and receiving medical care.

His family lost contact with him in November 2024, which generated concern. For months, they had no news of his whereabouts until, in early February 2025, the U.S. State Department informed family members that St. Clair had been unjustly detained in Venezuela.

St. Clair’s relatives maintained that his detention was part of a pattern of behavior by the Venezuelan government, which has used the detention of foreigners as a tool of political pressure.

The release comes amid negotiations between the Maduro government and Grenell, who traveled to Antigua to meet with Venezuelan representatives…

Monitoring information and vaccine delivery: WHO approves global pandemic agreement

Chinese medical personnel perform a covid-19 test.ZUMAPRESS.com/Cordon Press.

The text was adopted in Geneva at the annual meeting of the organization’s member countries. It calls for global coordination in the face of a future pandemic. The resolution on the agreement was approved by 124 votes in favor and none against. Countries that abstained included Iran, Israel, Russia, Italy, Slovakia and Poland.

Slovakia expressed its disagreement with the agreement because it considers that it violates state sovereignty. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he received a call from the WHO director to change his mind, but reaffirmed his position.

“It violates the principle of the sovereignty of the member states and disproportionately interferes with the area of human rights,” Fico maintained in the statement….

The WHO agreement not only promises to promote mass vaccination in its member countries but also states that in the event of a pandemic, each pharmaceutical company that agrees to participate in the mechanism will have to provide WHO with “rapid access to a target of 20% of its real-time production of safe vaccines, treatments and diagnostic products,” of which a “minimum of 10%” will be donated and the remainder “at an affordable price.”

The practical details of the mechanism will still have to be negotiated over the next two years before the agreement can be ratified. Sixty ratifications are needed, AFP explained, for the treaty to enter into force.

The treaty also insists on what it describes as multisectoral surveillance and the “one health” approach. The pact encourages investment in health systems to ensure that countries have sufficient human resources and strong national regulatory authorities….

60 convicted of trespassing on new border military zone

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says it has secured 60 convictions against migrants who set foot in the new National Defense Area in El Paso.

The convictions came through guilty pleas entered in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. The 60-foot-wide NDA running from the Texas-New Mexico state line through El Paso County near Fort Hancock, Texas, is considered an extension of Fort Bliss.

“Beginning in early May, additional criminal charges were filed against individuals who illegally entered or were found illegally in the United States and who had illegally entered the National Defense Area,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement Tuesday. “As of May 19, 60 defendants had pleaded guilty and were convicted of these charges.”

The announcement comes days after local news media reported that a U.S. magistrate judge in El Paso dismissed 12 similar cases due to lack of probable cause and prosecutors withdrew three more cases after determining migrants were apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol outside the NDA.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said it will uphold federal statutes for unlawful intrusions into areas designated as National Defense Areas….

Mollie Hemingway: Conspiracy To Hide Who Was Actually Operating As President During Biden’s Mental And Physical Decline

Mollie Hemingway, editor in chief of “The Federalist,” explained the stakes of covering up President Biden’s mental, and now we’ve learned also physical, decline while he was in the White House, on FNC’s “Special Report” panel.

BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS: This former President Biden sad news, obviously people weighing in on the news of his prostate cancer diagnosis on both sides of the aisle. It comes after this revelation over the weekend, the Hur tapes in this investigation. The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes: A Reckoning for the Biden Cover-Up.”

“The cover-up of Mr. Biden’s mental decline will go down as one of the great scandals of modern politics. By refusing to admit what voters could clearly see, Democrats denied their party an open primary. Once President Biden imploded, they handed Kamala Harris the nomination without debate. Democrats and the press are now appalled by Mr. Trump’s second term. They would do better to think upon—and seek contrition for—their own role in making it possible.”

In this current environment, does that focus, that came out before the diagnosis. Whether that changes at all—

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY: I don’t think so. If anything, it actually increases the problems here. We are in the midst of a staggering presidential scandal from the Biden administration. Whether you’re talking about the mental decline or the physical decline, there was a conspiracy to keep the American people from knowing who was actually operating as president.

And this is something that we still don’t really have answers to. To say Joe Biden’s name was the one on the ballot that people chose to be president—not Jake Sullivan, or Barack Obama, or Susan Rice.

Understanding who was operating during this period of both mental and physical decline is something we haven’t even come close to getting answers on. It really makes all other presidential scandals throughout history seem somewhat pale in comparison.

DHS: ‘Project Homecoming’ Flight Returns Self-Deporting Individuals To Honduras, Colombia

This initiative marks a significant step in fulfilling President Trump’s recent proclamation to establish ‘Project Homecoming.’

Unlike traditional enforcement operations, this was a voluntary repatriation effort.

Participants, described by DHS as “illegal aliens,” utilized the CBP Home App to choose their departure, receiving substantial incentives for their cooperation.

These individuals were provided travel assistance and a $1,000 stipend. Their voluntary departure preserves the possibility of a legal return to the United States in the future – a benefit not afforded to those subjected to forced deportation.

In Honduras, 38 returning citizens were met with a warm reception from their government and awaiting family members.

They will also benefit from the Honduran government’s “Hermano, Hermana, Vuelve a Casa” program, which offers an additional $100 bonus for adults, food vouchers, and assistance with employment.

Similarly, in Colombia, 26 participants were welcomed by their families and representatives from the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Migration Colombia…

When Did Biden Know He Had Cancer? Five Doctors Weigh In.

“They. Covered. Up. His. Cancer,” tweeted the conservative provocateur Clay Travis on Monday, after Joe Biden’s office said that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

It’s easy enough to understand Travis’s logic. Is it really plausible that the former president could have discovered less than a year after his last physical in February 2024—with his doctors pronouncing him “fit for duty”—that his cancer had metastasized to his bones? As Dr. Steven Quay, a cancer doctor who runs Atossa Therapeutics in Seattle, told me: “The statistics are very clear. There is a 1-to-2 percent probability that you could have a normal prostate exam in 2024 and metastatic prostate cancer by May 2025.” The other 98 percent of the time, he added, “it takes at least five to seven years” for that to happen.

Quay also pointed out that although many of Biden’s test results were released after his annual physical, his prostate-specific antigen test—more commonly known as a PSA test—was never released. When I pointed out that many men are advised that they no longer need to take PSA exams after they turn 70, Quay scoffed.

“I don’t think it’s credible to imagine that the physicians of the president of the United States were not looking for the most common cancer in men,” he replied. “That’s what makes me wonder whether there was a cover-up.”

Dr. Mark Scholz, a prostate cancer specialist, went even further. “The scenario being described is something you might encounter in a third world nation. For someone to have metastatic prostate cancer means one of two things. Either, the doctors in charge of Joe Biden’s healthcare were not checking his PSA levels, in which case they were perhaps the most incompetent doctors on the face of the earth. Or they were taking his PSA levels all along, and therefore, the diagnosis of prostate cancer has been on the radar of his physicians for years, and no one told us about it. Is it incompetence? Or deception? There’s nothing else that can explain what we’re dealing with.”

The darkest scenario, said Scholz, is that Biden’s doctors were already treating him for prostate cancer while he was still president. The primary treatment consists of reducing the patient’s testosterone level, which can shrink the cancerous tumors—but it can also have side effects for men of Biden’s age. “It causes all sorts of frailty and infirmity for men in his age group to have testosterone taken away,” he said—including unsteady gait, loss of muscle mass, and even loss of memory. If Biden was being treated with testosterone deprivation therapy, Scholz speculated, it might even have played a role in his disastrous debate performance.

Home Depot not increasing prices as sales beat expectation despite tariffs

One week after Walmart announced that it would begin raising prices on products sold in U.S. stores due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs on China, big box rival Home Depot announced that it would not be increasing prices. CFO Richard McPhail told CNBC the store intends to “maintain our current pricing levels across our portfolio.“

While the Trump administration has made a deal with China to cut tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to 30% as a 90-day negotiating period takes place, Walmart imports about one-third of its products overall, with China and Mexico being its two largest importers.

By contrast, Home Depot reports that more than half of the merchandise it sells is produced in the United States. McPhail said Home Depot and its suppliers have recently diversified the source of their imports, including reducing products that come in from China. He says that by next year, no country outside the U.S. will total more than 10% of the company’s goods…

As for rival Lowe’s, Yahoo Finance reports that in December, CFO Brandon Sink told shareholders on an earnings call that 40% of its products sold come from overseas and that tariffs would likely add to production costs.

Lowe’s first quarter earnings figures and revenue outlook are due on Wednesday, May 21.

Navy’s former second-in-command convicted in historic corruption case

(U.S. Navy)

A retired four-star admiral who once served as the Navy’s second-highest ranking officer, was convicted of bribery and other conspiracy charges, making him the most senior member of the U.S. military ever convicted of committing a federal crime while on active duty.

Following a five-day trial, retired four-star Adm. Robert P. Burke, 62, was found guilty on Monday of a scheme to direct lucrative contracts to a training company in exchange for a $500,000-a-year job after leaving the Navy, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

Burke is facing up to 30 years in prison for his role in the scheme to direct contracts potentially worth millions of dollars to a New York City-based company that offered training programs to the Navy.

“When you abuse your position and betray the public trust to line your own pockets, it undermines the confidence in the government you represent,” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro wrote in a post on X following the conviction.

“Our office, with our law enforcement partners, will root out corruption – be it bribes or illegal contracts – and hold accountable the perpetrators, no matter what title or rank they hold,” Pirro continued.

Burke, who served as vice chief of naval operations, was once the Navy’s second-highest ranking officer.

New Jersey Congresswoman Faces Federal Charges After ICE Melee

After allegedly assaulting law enforcement officials earlier this month at a protest outside a Newark, N.J., immigration detention facility, far-left New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver will face criminal charges.

“Today my office has charged Congresswoman McIver with violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 111(a)(1) for assaulting, impeding and interfering with law enforcement,” Alina Habba, interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey, wrote in a statement posted on X.

Habba announced the charges against the firebrand Democrat as she noted misdemeanor charges against Democrat Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for allegedly trespassing on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility grounds would be dismissed.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said what Democrats are fond of saying, that “no one is above the law.”

“If any person, regardless of political party, influence or status, assaults a law enforcement officer as we witnessed Congresswoman McIver do, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Noem wrote on X.

The secretary said federal officials conducted a thorough review of video footage of the melee at Delaney Hall in determining to file charges against the congresswoman. ..
