Trump: ‘Our Country Is Fortunate I Didn’t Do What Dr. Fauci Wanted Me To Do’
The former president said Fauci must give answers regarding his knowledge on gain-of-function research funding. Fauci denied that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases funded gain-of-function research to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to experiment with coronaviruses.
“There are a lot of questions that must be answered by Dr. Fauci.
The funding of Wuhan by the U.S. foolishly started by the Obama administration in 2014 but ended under the Trump administration,” the statement said. “What did Dr. Fauci know about ‘gain of function’ research, and when did he know it?”
China owes a large sum of money to the world for causing “death and destruction,” the statement said.“Now everyone, even the so-called ‘enemy,’ are beginning to say that President Trump was right about the China Virus coming from the Wuhan Lab.
Yang chased by angry protesters during Brooklyn campaign stop
Yang was headed to the Park Slope YMCA — a spot notorious for Mayor Bill de Blasio’s oft inopportune workouts, in a move many expected would bring some criticism of the mayor.
Instead, Yang was met by a dozen members of New York Communities for Change, a social justice organization, who shouted down the candidate and ultimately scuttled the event — forcing him to take questions on the move.
Known for his affable campaign style, Yang attempted to talk to the protesters ahead of the event. Undeterred, they carried signs and shouted “No new cops!” and “Hedge fund mayor!” — effectively drowning out the candidate’s prepared remarks.
Disgraced San Francisco Official Arrested for Attempted Robbery at Food Bank
Mohammed Nuru, who served as the city’s director of public works under Democratic mayors Willie Brown, Gavin Newsom, Ed Lee, and London Breed, allegedly brandished a kitchen knife and attempted to steal a bag of potato chips from a volunteer at a city food bank, according to ABC 7.
The victim fled the scene and called the police, who took Nuru into custody. After the incident, Nuru reportedly said he was just “kidding.”
Last year, the FBI arrested Nuru on corruption and bribery charges. Federal prosecutors say Nuru, who resigned from his position after his arrest,
Supreme Court Sides With Former Officer Who Improperly Searched License Plate Database
Former President Donald Trump’s three appointees to the court—Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch—were joined by the three liberal justices—Elena Kagan, Sonya Sotomayor, and Stephen Breyer—in the ruling.
“It is understandable to be uncomfortable with so much conduct being criminalized,” Thomas wrote in his dissent, “but that discomfort does not give us authority to alter statutes.
“In the end, the Act may or may not cover a wide array of conduct because of changes in technology that have occurred since 1984,” Thomas added.
“But the text makes one thing clear: Using a police database to obtain information in circumstances where that use is expressly forbidden is a crime. I respectfully dissent.”
California to pay $2 million in churches’ legal fees over coronavirus closures
The state of California has agreed not to impose greater coronavirus restrictions on church gatherings than it does on retail establishments in a pair of settlements that provide more than $2 million in fees to lawyers who challenged the rules as a violation of religious freedom.
A deal approved Tuesday by a federal judge comes after lawyers for a San Diego-area Pentecostal church took their challenge against the state to the U.S. Supreme Court three times and won.
The settlement includes a permanent injunction in line with Supreme Court rulings that found restrictions on houses of worship cannot exceed those on retail businesses, attorney Paul Jonna said.
Even vaccinated California workers may have to keep masks on
The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board on Thursday was considering new workplace rules that would only allow workers to go maskless if everyone in a room is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The rules could remain in place into early next year even though coronavirus cases have fallen dramatically in the state after a severe winter spike and as more people get vaccinated.
Helen Cleary, director of the Phylmar Regulatory Roundtable, a coalition of large businesses with major California operations, said she was “astonished” that the staff of the safety board, known as Cal/OSHA, didn’t follow guidelines from federal and state health officials.
The proposed rules would “create two classes of people” in the workplace, she told the board.

The county ended 2020 with a 36% increase overall in violent crime, Villanueva said, making the increase in violent crimes thus far in 2021 all the more striking. “All huge numbers, all very, very troublesome.”
He said that the rise in crime was an “existential threat,” along with homelessness and the passage of poorly conceived criminal justice reform.
He said the crime was worst in African American and Latino communities, and criticized the county’s Board of Supervisors for failing to address the issue.
Recognizing that the threat of crime to residents was increasing, Villanueva said, the department would accelerate the issuing of “carry a concealed weapon” (CCW) permits.
Sheriff: Boy, girl used AK-47, shotgun in shootout with deputies
Both children, identified as Nicole Jackson, 14, and Travis O’Brien, 12, fired at deputies several times while deputies tried to peacefully resolve the incident, Chitwood said. No deputies were injured.
Deputies said prior to the shootout, the pair were reported as runaways from the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home shortly before 5 p.m.
The homeowner told Channel 9 he left the home with his three daughters for 20 minutes to grab groceries. He said they returned to their house swarmed by deputies and the sound of gunfire.
Deputies said they responded to almost 300 calls from the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home last year.

Crews remove barriers, memorials at George Floyd Square
The intersection had been closed to traffic since Floyd’s death in police custody on May 25, 2020, but some residents and businesses were starting to express frustration that it had been closed for so long.
Traffic briefly flowed through the intersection Thursday morning after the concrete barriers were removed, but community members quickly erected new makeshift barriers. Dozens of people gathered near the intersection, singing, chanting Floyd’s name and giving speeches expressing frustration and urging people to continue organizing.
Mayor Jacob Frey said a phased reopening of the intersection was necessary to promote healing, restore area businesses, and provide social services and city services that have been lacking in the past year.
Google diversity head removed over anti-Semitic blog post
On Thursday, a spokesperson for Google told the BBC that Mr Bobb would “no longer be part of our diversity team going forward”.
“We unequivocally condemn the past writings by a member of our diversity team that are causing deep offence and pain to members of our Jewish community,” they said.”
This has come at at a time where we’ve seen an alarming increase in anti-Semitic attacks,” the spokesperson added.
“Anti-Semitism… has no place in society and we stand with our Jewish community in condemning it.”

Three Police Officers Shot, Authorities Call For Residents To Shelter-In-Place
An initial report said the officers were shot in the hand, arm and leg, CBS Philly reported.
One woman on the scene said the suspect broke into her mother’s fourth-floor apartment from the fire escape, according to CBS Philly.
The woman said the suspect injured her sister and said her mother was able to get out into a neighboring apartment.
CNN Runs Interference For Dr. Fauci After Email Scandal
CNN praising Fauci is nothing new.
They’ve lifted him up on a pedestal ever since he first popped up on TV and became synonymous with the Wuhan coronavirus crisis response.
But CNN’s failure to report his clear and blatant dishonesty is in stride with social media platforms’ decision to ban and label posts misinformation for considering the Lab-Leak theory before Fauci’s emails came out.

Fauci’s Book Listing Removed from Amazon, B&N
The book’s removal comes as Fauci faces intense backlash over emails obtained by BuzzFeed and The Washington Post through FOIA requests.
Among the thousands of emails, Fauci was alerted that the novel coronavirus looked ‘engineered’; he knew masks were not effective; he was circulating gain-of-function research in February of 2020 and lied about these experiments under oath; and a Wuhan lab funder emailed to thank him for dismissing the lab leak theory.

Amazon US customers have one week to opt out of mass wireless sharing
The proposal, called Amazon Sidewalk, involves the company’s devices being used as a springboard to build city-wide “mesh networks” that help simplify the process of setting up new devices, keep them online even if they’re out of range of home wifi, and extend the range of tracking devices such as those made by Tile.
But Sidewalk has come under fire for the apparent lack of transparency with which Amazon has rolled out the feature, as well as the limited time available for users to complete the tricky process required to opt out.
Other critics have expressed concerns that failing to turn the setting off could leave customers in breach of their internet service provider’s terms and conditions.

A former Florida public high school teacher was sentenced to 15 years in prison in May for recording nude videos of 124 students and one teacher as they were changing clothes in his classroom.
Virginia parents speaking out against critical race theory face retaliation

Throughout Trump’s presidency, news outlets would often cite anonymous sources for reports that were typically used to denigrate the former president.
This led Trump to pillory reporters and mainstream media outlets as peddlers of “fake news” during press conferences and on Twitter.
Jenna Ellis, an attorney who assisted Trump in his post-Nov. 3 election lawsuits and also denied Haberman’s claims, wrote on Twitter that while she believes there were significant irregularities during the 2020 election process, there is no way Trump could return to the Oval Office this summer because of the Electoral College process.
“The election was lawless, six states allowed their delegates to vote by false certifications, but the EC process happened,” Ellis wrote on Twitter.

Pennsylvania Lawmakers Hopeful for Audit After Touring Arizona Election Review
“I’m 100 percent for us having one and I think our leadership is starting to lean that way,” Pennsylvania Sen. Cris Dush told reporters at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, where the Maricopa County audit has been happening since April 23.
Dush was joined by Pennsylvania Sen. Doug Mastriano and Pennsylvania Rep. Rob Kauffman.
Dush said he was impressed by how the Arizona audit was being done, including how the firms hired by the Arizona Senate are handling chain of custody issues.

Half of GOP Voters Believe Party Leaders Aren’t Conservative Enough
Most voters in both major parties believe their ideological views are moving away from party leaders, but the view is more pronounced among Republican voters.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 28% of Likely Republican Voters believe the attitudes of GOP voters remain about the same as those of the party’s leaders.
Fifty percent (50%) say Republican voters are becoming more conservative than the GOP leadership, while 15% think these voters are becoming more liberal.

Belgian Teen Commits Suicide Days After Gang Rape in Cemetery
Her parents were unaware of what happened and only found out after her death when the mother of their daughter’s friend — in whom she had confided — told them about the attack.
Two days after the 14-year-old’s funeral, police took the girl’s laptop and tablet and were able to identify the five suspects using data from the devices. Police arrested two adults and three minors.
There have been numerous cases of young girls being raped and footage of the sexual abuse being posted on social media apps in several European countries in recent years.
Social media apps have also been used to blackmail girls into sex. Earlier this year, a 22-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison for using Snapchat to coerce underage girls in the no-go suburbs of Paris to have sex.
Eight Cartel Gunmen Die in Mexican Border City Shootouts with Soldiers
The first shootout occurred shortly after 7 pm in the Madero neighborhood–not far from the U.S. Consulate, military reports obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.
The Mexican soldiers were patrolling the area when a group of gunmen in SUVs began shooting. The soldiers fought off the attack, killing three and seizing weapons and one armored vehicle. No soldiers were injured. After, Tamaulipas state investigators responded to the scene.
Soon after the first shootout, military forces responded to a second location in the Villas de San Miguel neighborhood after calls about gunfire. When the troops arrived, gunmen began shooting. Five gunmen died. Authorities seized weapons and two vehicles.
The U.S. Consulate in Nuevo Laredo issued alerts on social media warning individuals to shelter in place until the following morning.
Antisemitic Incidents Reach Record High in the UK: Report
The Community Security Trust (CST) recorded 351 antisemitic incidents between May 8th and the 31st. This three-week figure is higher than in any month as a whole since records began, the Jewish charity said.
The previous record for antisemitic incidents in Britain was in July of 2014, when 317 were recorded. In both instances, the escalations were linked to increased tension between Israel and Palestinian terror group Hamas.
The Campaign Against Antisemitism told the Press Association that the incidents recorded in May included physical attacks on Jewish people, antisemitic placards and chants witnessed at political protests, social media posts, and threats against Jewish children at schools.
“Ultimately, the blame lies with the racist perpetrators of these cowardly incidents.
But some politicians, the media, social media companies and others have done their part in tolerating or even stoking the hate.
