How Europe and Britain are getting ready for ‘WWIII’: Interactive graphic reveals how West will stop…

In light of the downward spiral of East-West relations – not to mention the alarming escalation of tensions further afield in the Middle East and Indo-Pacific – the UK and its European partners could soon be forced to contend with any number of major military threats.

As a result, many countries are reversing decades of peacetime policy to reignite their war engines. Others never stopped and are only consolidating efforts to ensure they are fit for conflict.

But there is little doubt that all Europe is now scrambling to prepare in anticipation of what may lie over the horizon.

Here, MailOnline assesses what Britain and its continental allies are doing to ready their armed forces, economies and citizens for the prospect of war.

Peaceful Pro-Lifer Gets Years In Prison After Biden DOJ Targeted Her Under FACE Act

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly sentenced a pro-life activist on Tuesday to 57 months in prison and three years supervision for her participation in a peaceful pro-life protest at one the capital city’s most controversial abortion facilities.

Lauren Handy, 30, was one of several members of the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU), a primarily leftist organization with a pro-life streak, who initiated a “rescue and protest” at late-term abortionist Cesare Santangelo’s Washington, D.C., facility in October 2020.

“Some simply kneeled and prayed at Santangelo’s facility, some passed out pro-life literature and counseled abortion-minded women, and others roped and chained themselves together inside the facility,” Handy’s lawyers at the Thomas More Society noted.

Handy, PAAU’s director of Activism and Mutual Aid, decided to protest at Santangelo’s facility in particular after she heard him admit on an undercover video that he “would not help” a baby born alive after a botched abortion…

The vicious attack occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. The stabbing was captured by a deli security camera.

Surveillance shows the suspect sitting down on a walker and smoking what appears to be a cigarette. As two women walk near him, he jumps up from his walker, takes out a large knife, and stabs one of the females. He then sits on his walker again, like nothing happened.

Anwar, who works at Port Gourmet deli, says that cops arrived within three minutes and arrested the man, identified as 62-year-old Cyril Destin.

Destin was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He is no stranger to the police. The NYPD tells NewsNation affiliate WPIX that he has been arrested at least 14 times, including for robbery and drug-related offenses.

US sees uptick in migrants committing serious crimes

An uptick in migrants committing serious crimes is shining a light on the nation’s border policies.

Florida law enforcement authorities have reported an increase in violent crimes being committed by migrants in the U.S. illegally. In just the past month, three suspects have been arrested in connection to violent crimes in the Sunshine State.

Palm Beach County officials arrested and charged Herber Amador Guerrero, 26, of Honduras on Friday for allegedly sexually abusing a minor and other violent charges.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested 43-year-old Josefina Cardona-Cardona of Guatemala earlier this month for allegedly trying to hire a hitman to kill two witnesses in her teenage son’s criminal case.

Marvin Perez Lopez, 20, of Guatemala was arrested earlier this month, less than six months after he crossed into the U.S. illegally.

Authorities said Lopez crossed the border in January and was released by federal officials with a future court date in 2027. That’s when he made his way to Florida, where PBSO said he was arrested on May 4 for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a child.

Court filings vindicate IRS whistleblowers in face of Hunter Biden legal team attacks

The government quietly confirmed in a recent court filing the IRS whistleblowers in the Hunter Biden tax case did nothing illegal, pushing back on allegations by the Biden legal team that they violated the law by making protected disclosures to Congress.

Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler originally brought concerns to the House Ways and Means Committee that the Justice Department had provided preferential treatment to Biden during the probe into his alleged tax violations, including by blocking search warrants and limiting the investigators’ pursuit of information related to then-candidate Joe Biden, Hunter Biden’s father.

Now, the IRS filing last week indicates the government believes neither Shapley nor Ziegler did anything wrong by disclosing Hunter Biden’s tax information to the Ways and Means Committee, and in fact, such disclosures are protected by law.

Quarter of $1M in undeclared cash seized from Mexican-bound Nissan

Stacks containing $247,500 in unreported currency seized by CBP officers during an outbound examination at Pharr International Bridge.(CBP)

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the Nissan sedan was heading south in Mexico at the Pharr International Bridge.

Officers then searched the car and found 14 bundles of cash totaling $247,500 hidden within the vehicle.

“CBP officers conduct outbound enforcement operations to protect against unreported exportations of bulk U.S. currency, which often can be proceeds from alleged illicit activity or currency that funds transnational criminal organizations,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

CBP officers seized the currency while special agents with Homeland Security Investigations launched a criminal investigation.

DOJ Busted for Illegally Retaliating Against Whistleblowers

AP Photo/Stephanie Scarbrough

Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed Tuesday officials at the federal law enforcement agency have inappropriately retaliated against whistleblowers by pulling security clearances and implementing other retribution against them.

The investigation covered the  FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“[A] lack of a DOJ appeal process for employees who allege their suspension of more than 1 year is retaliatory, as required by Section 3341 and SEAD 9, is especially problematic at DOJ components that regularly suspend employees without pay for the duration of the security review process, which can sometimes last years,” the memo continues.

After the Inspector General investigated, the office claims DOJ rectified the situation and implemented a number of recommendations.

DOJ watchdogs and whistleblower attorneys beg to differ and argue the FBI is still breaking the law. Specifically in the case of Marcus Allen, an FBI specialist and former Marine who blew the whistle on the FBI’s official narrative of the January 6, 2021 events at the U.S. Capitol.

Inflation Inferno: Producer Price Index Shows Prices Rising Much More Than Expected

A key gauge of inflation surged by much more than expected in April, confirming that the pace of inflation has accelerated.

The producer price index for final demand, which measures the prices paid to U.S. businesses for their goods and services, rose by 2.2 percent in April, the Department of Labor said Thursday. Compared with a year ago, the index is up 2.2 percent, the largest increase in a year.

The impact of the higher-than-expected figures for April was somewhat softened because the prior month’s estimate was revised down from a 0.2 percent gain to a decrease of 0.1 percent.

The so-called core producer price index—a measure that excludes prices of food and energy—jumped 0.5 percent in April after calling 0.1 percent in March. Economists had forecast a 0.2 percent gain. Over the year, core producer prices are up 2.4 percent.

UPDATE: 8 dead, 8 critically injured when bus carrying farmworkers crashes in west Marion County

Speaking late Tuesday morning during a press conference at the crash scene, an FHP official said it’s possible the number of deaths could increase, given the conditions of the critically injured bus occupants.

Officials on scene said the farmworkers worked for a private company and were being taken to a watermelon farm. There is no name on the side of the bus, and the owner of the private company was aboard the vehicle and had to be transported to a hospital after the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bus was heading west on SR 40 and a brown Ford Ranger was eastbound on the same road. A witness told troopers that for some reason the Ranger moved into the westbound lane and the vehicles collided.

The bus ran onto the south shoulder, struck a board fence and struck two trees. The bus then overturned, troopers said.

UN sexual violence envoy pulls out of Security Council briefing on Hamas hostages

The UN’s special representative on sexual violence in conflict Pramila Patten pulled out of a Security Council session where she was supposed to brief members about the hostages taken by Hamas on October 7, a UN diplomat told The Times of Israel on Tuesday.

Patten — the UN special representative whose purview most closely overlaps with the topic — was named as the first of three briefers along with a civil society representative and a released Israeli hostage or relative of a hostage.

But in the updated invitations — or “concept notes” — sent out to members on Monday and also obtained by The Times of Israel, Patten was no longer listed among the briefers.

A UN diplomat said on condition of anonymity that Patten’s withdrawal was not due to scheduling issues.

The diplomat hinted that the decision was politically motivated, as her office has faced pressure not to be seen as prioritizing the plight of the Israeli hostages over that of the Palestinians caught in the middle of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.

Fugitive Colombian killer was let loose into US after escaping prison and crossing border illegally

A fugitive Colombian killer was cut loose in the US after crossing the border illegally — despite being convicted of homicide and a slew of other violent charges back home, immigration authorities have admitted.

The 49-year-old, whom US officials didn’t name, had been arrested in Bucaramanga, Colombia, back in 2014 and slapped with aggravated homicide, aggravated theft and unlawful possession of a weapon charges.

He was convicted and sentenced to 17 years in prison in 2016.

But when he was picked up by US Border Patrol near San Luis, Arizona, in November last year after illegally crossing the border, the fugitive was still set free on an order of recognizance, ICE officials said.

Instead of being deported given his dangerous rap sheet, he was just handed a notice to appear before a federal immigration judge at a future date.

IDF Kills 15 Terrorists in ‘War Room’ At UNRWA School

IDF

In a joint statement, the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA, or “Shabak,” or “Shin Bet”) said:

Based on IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF carried out a precise strike on a central Hamas war room commanders embedded inside an UNRWA school in the area of Nuseirat. The war room was used by terrorist operatives in Hamas’ military wing. The strike was carried out using precise munitions in order to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians.

The Hamas war room had been used by the terrorist organization to plan multiple attacks against IDF troops in central Gaza in recent weeks. The Nukhba terrorists situated inside the war room took part in the October 7th Massacre and carried out ambushes and attacks on IDF troops in the Gaza Strip. In the IAF strike, approximately 15 operatives from terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip were eliminated, more than 10 of which were part of Hamas.

Zuck’s Surveillance Dream: Meta Working on AI-Powered ‘Camerabuds’ that Gather Audio and Video

House Energy and Commerce Committee via AP

Android Authority reports that according to a report by the Information, Meta is developing AI-powered earphones equipped with cameras, internally codenamed “Camerabuds.”

These earphones are designed to leverage AI capabilities for real-time object identification and foreign language translation, potentially revolutionizing how users interact with their surroundings, and providing Meta with an incredible amount of data about the personal lives of wearers–and anyone they come in contact with.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has shown a keen interest in the project, reviewing various design concepts for either in-ear earbuds or over-the-ear headphones. The company’s leadership sees AI-powered earphones as the next logical step in the evolution of wearable technology, with competitors likely to follow suit.

To explore the possibilities of this emerging technology, Meta has engaged with Ear Micro, a Kansas-based electronics company specializing in “smart” earphones. However, the project faces several technical challenges, such as potential camera obstruction by long hair and overheating issues, which need to be addressed before the product can become a reality.

Jon Stewart calls out Nancy Pelosi, Hunter Biden and Bob Menendez in segment on political corruption

Comedian Jon Stewart takes aim at Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Bob Menendez and Hunter Biden during a “Daily Show” segment on corruption.  (Screenshot/TheDailyShow)

Stewart first took aim at Menendez, and said his alleged crimes were “f—— awful,” adding, “You, sir, are an elected official in America’s most respected legislative body. It’s like a license to print money. You don’t need to break the law so cartoonishly when the legal corruption in the Senate is so f—— lucrative.”

The comedian described Pelosi as one of the “biggest beneficiaries” of their ability to trade stocks before showing video of the former speaker of the House saying members of Congress should not be banned from trading stocks and should be allowed to participate in the “free market.”

Stewart also name-dropped Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Al., and former GOP Sen. Richard Burr earlier in the segment. Burr was investigated in 2020 for a slew of stocks he sold before the COVID-19 pandemic rocked the economy.
