Las Vegas SWAT teams respond to gunman barricaded in room, holding woman hostage at Caesars Palace
A man barricaded himself inside a hotel room at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas strip on Tuesday and was allegedly holding a woman at gunpoint and throwing furniture out of the window, according to police.
Commander Stephen Connell said that it’s not clear if the woman and the man are in a relationship but she appeared to still be unharmed hours into the tense standoff.
“She is still in the room at this time. The female has been heard from and is still OK,” he told KLAS.
When police arrived at the hotel room, the man refused to open the door and told officers he was armed.
Chicago suburb starts disbursing $10 million reparations package to black residents
Approximately 140 residents in Evanston, Illinois, will receive $25,000 from the city by the end of the year, according to the outlet.
In 2019, the city of roughly 75,000 residents approved a $10 million reparations package to be distributed over 10 years. So far, the city has already disbursed reparations payments to sixteen qualified residents, the Evanston Round Table reported.
Individuals must have been at least 18 years old and resided in the city between 1919 and 1969 to qualify for the payments.
Ford Executive Threatened Wife With Butane Torch, Assaulted Her, Police Allege
Louis-Victor allegedly threatened to burn two of his wife’s expensive purses before he allegedly “slapped and headbutted” her. He then allegedly hit her with a Google Nest Hub smart screen, police said, per the outlet.
The victim went to the hospital after the incident to be treated for “a laceration under her left eye,” according to police.
Louis-Victor was charged with felonious assault and arson-preparation to burn after a domestic violence incident. He is being held in Oakland County Jail on a $25,000 bond, according to Business Insider.
Trump denounces Biden’s decision to send cluster munitions to Ukraine
Trump shared his stance in a lengthy statement issued by his campaign. It comes five days after the Pentagon formally announced the decision, and a day after his former vice president and now rival for the GOP presidential nomination, Mike Pence, expressed support for the move.
“Joe Biden should not be dragging us further toward World War III by sending cluster munitions to Ukraine — he should be trying to END the war and stop the horrific death and destruction being caused by an incompetent administration,” Trump said.
In his statement, Trump repeated the argument made by many critics — including those on the left — saying that unexploded cluster munitions “will be killing and maiming innocent Ukrainian men, women, and children for decades to come, long after the war.”

FBI Colluded With Russian-Infiltrated Agency In Ukraine To Censor Americans
In an interim report published by the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, House investigators exposed the FBI’s cooperation with foreign agents to orchestrate online censorship.
“The Committee’s analysis of these ‘disinformation’ registries revealed that the FBI, at the request of the [Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)], flagged for social media companies the authentic accounts of Americans, including a verified U.S. State Department account and those belonging to American journalists,” the report reads. “At times, the FBI would even follow up with the relevant platform to ensure that ‘these accounts were taken down.’”
The FBI, lawmakers added, “had no legal justification for facilitating the censorship of Americans’ protected speech on social media.”
House investigators compiled the report based on subpoenas to Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, and Alphabet, which oversees Google and YouTube.

Massachusetts Sued For Working With Google To Secretly Put Spyware On Residents’ Phones
A video published by the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) — a self-described civil rights group devoted to protecting Americans from administrative overreach — walks viewers through the core tenets of the organization’s ongoing lawsuit against DPH and Democrat Gov. Maura Healey, which claims Massachusetts violated state residents and workers’ Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights by installing a Covid “contact-tracing app” on their Androids without their awareness or permission.
Following low download numbers among state residents, however, DPH allegedly began working with Google on June 15, 2021, to “secretly install the Contact Tracing App onto over one million Android mobile devices located in Massachusetts without the device owners’ knowledge or permission.”
User attempts to delete the app from his or her respective devices proved unsuccessful, as DPH would allegedly “re-install it onto their device.”

Labour Minister Monte McNaughton says the $2.6 million will help people who sacrificed so much to get to Canada support themselves and their families, while also boosting Ontario’s economy.
More than half of the funding is going to Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto to give 230 women career coaching and a paid internship.
