Bowers was found guilty in June of 63 charges, including “eleven counts of obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death” after failing to negotiate a plea deal with prosecutors to take the death penalty off the table.

The defense had been arguing over the past two weeks that Bowers was not competent to be given the highest sentence but the jury disagreed, according to CNN.

The jury deliberated for roughly two hours before handing down the verdict Thursday after nearly two weeks of testimony and arguments from the defense, prosecution and 20 witnesses, according to CNN.

Bowers killed 11 during his attack with a semi-automatic rifle on Oct. 27, 2018, and injured six others. After his arrest, Bowers told police that he had purposely targeted Jewish people, leading the DOJ to eventually elevate the charges to a hate crime.

Matthew Nilo, 35, of New Jersey, was ordered to pay the additional $50,000 for the new charges stemming from five alleged attacks on four women in the North End between 2007 and 2008. The accused serial rapist already posted $500,000 cash bail at his previous arraignment

The disgraced lawyer will remain free on bail and is allowed to return home to New Jersey, but will still have to wear a GPS tracker, according to ABC News. His passport has been revoked.

After pleading not guilty, Nilo was briefly handcuffed and held in custody before posting his new bail.

His fiancée, Laura Griffin, stood by him in court on Thursday, wearing a stoic black outfit as she sat beside her well-dressed fiance.

Court Rules Pro-Life Pharmacist Can Challenge Biden Mandate Forcing Pharmacists to Dispense Abortion Pills

In March, Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys added their client, Mayo Pharmacy—an independent pharmacy in Bismarck, North Dakota, run by Catholic pharmacist Kevin Martian, PharmD—to a lawsuit the state of Texas filed challenging the Biden administration’s attempt to require pharmacies that receive federal funding to dispense abortion-inducing drugs.

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Midland-Odessa Division wrote in its decision in State of Texas and Mayo Pharmacy v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that, “Be it HHS, the SEC, or some other agency, what is most troubling is the trending technique federal agencies are using as standard strategy in implementing the executive branch’s policy goals in contravention of the rule of law. This technique, as explained above, is laundering, or smurfing, an executive policy goal into ‘unreviewable’ and ‘unchallengeable’ pieces while reinforcing the whole with an implicit enforcement threat.”

Trump won’t be at Iowa Republican presidential forum, but his stance on Ukraine will be on host Tucker Carlson’s mind

BlazeTV will broadcast the 2023 FAMiLY Leadership Summit: Principle over Politics in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 14, beginning at 10 a.m. ET.

The event, hosted by Tucker Carlson, will present GOP primary contenders with an opportunity to further distinguish themselves before a massive audience and make a case for why they are best equipped to helm the nation.

The candidates also run the risk of having Carlson expose whatever potentially unpopular views they might hold, which mainstream outfits might otherwise have glossed over if given the chance.

Although former President Donald Trump, far and away the leader in the Republican primary race, will be noticeably absent, some of his defining views are sure to make their way to the stage for debate — particularly his stance on Ukraine, which has captivated Carlson.

‘A big question’

In his first interview since leaving Fox, Carlson recently told the titular host of the “Stay Free Russell Brand” podcast that Trump will likely go down in history as one of the most consequential figures in a century, particularly on account of how he realigned the Republican Party “against the wishes of Republican leaders.”

This red line appears also to divide Republicans.

According to a June Gallup poll, 49% of Republican respondents indicated that they wanted the conflict resolved in short order, even if Russia keeps some territory. 47% said they supported a prolonged conflict if it means Ukraine possibly reclaiming territory.

In light of Carlson’s sense that Russia’s war on Ukraine “is reshaping the world,” his past interest in Republicans’ stances on the “big question,” and the recent debates about NATO membership for Ukraine, the 2023 FAMiLY Leadership Summit host is likely to raise the matter in his return to television this week when speaking “one-on-one” with the candidates.

Lavrov: No Choice But To Treat F-16s In Ukraine As Nuclear Threat

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reaffirmed while at the NATO summit in Vilnius that there “will be the transfer of F-16s [to Ukraine], likely from European countries that have excess F-16 supplies”.

Russian Foreign Minister hit back at the confirmation that advanced Western fighter jets will soon make their way to Ukraine, after the allies complete the first wave of training for Ukrainian pilots, which could take considerable time.

“Moscow can’t ignore the nuclear capability of US-designed F-16 fighter jets that may be supplied to Ukraine by its Western backers,” Lavrov said, per Russian media. He went so far as to say that it will be seen as a threat from the West “in the nuclear domain.”

As a second measure to cover the higher wage bill, government departments will be asked to reprioritize their spending. This does not entail job cuts or reductions in services but rather a shift in focus towards different priorities, Sunk said.

The Conservative party government led by Rishi Sunak has faced significant pressure and disputes over public sector pay, resulting in strikes across schools and hospitals.

Junior doctors in England, for instance, initiated a five-day strike on Thursday after their demand for a 35 percent pay increase was rejected.
