Chants of ‘USA!’ erupt at New York Stock Exchange as PublicSq goes public

Chants of “USA!” rang out before founder, chairman, and CEO Michael Seifert rang the legendary opening bell, signaling the beginning of a new chapter for the patriotic online marketplace.
Members of the PublicSq team, including Donald Trump Jr, stood on the balcony overlooking the trading floor as supporters cheered them on. Before long, chants of “USA!” filled the air, only stopping for Seifert to ring the bell.
While the atmosphere in the NYSE was electric, not everyone was enthusiastic about it.
CNBC analyst Jim Cramer recoiled while having his broadcast drowned out by the patriotic chant. He and his co-host attempted to continue speaking, but even shouting couldn’t overpower the sounds of the crowd.
Man, 73, jumps to his death from NYC building, one day after 2 other suicides

A 73-year-old man jumped to his death from a luxury Lower Manhattan building Thursday — a day after two elderly men similarly ended their lives at separate buildings farther uptown, cops and police sources said.
According to authorities and sources, the senior plunged from the roof of the 63-story 50 West St. building near Rector Street in the Financial District around 10:30 a.m.
Police said the man was found lying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive, “with injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position,” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miami Mother Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Hire Hitman to Kill 3-Year-Old Son

According to her arrest report, Jazmin Paez visited a parody hit-for-hire website, which was actually designed to prevent legitimate solicitations to commit murders and intended to assist law enforcement agencies, on Tuesday.
Miami-Dade police said she provided the address to where her son lives, a recent photo of him and her phone number.
She also provided a false name for herself and listed her desired code/safe word as “Put me in coach,” the arrest report stated.
According to the report, Paez’s listed reason for wanting her son killed was “To get something done once and for all,” and her specific request was for her son to “be taken away, far, far, far away and possibly be killed but ASAP.”
Prenatal Exposure to Organophosphate Pesticides Linked to Aggression, Attention Disorders in Children

A study published in Environmental Health Perspectives finds concentrations of organophosphate (OP) metabolites in urine during the prenatal phase have links to adolescent/young adult externalizing (e.g., hyperactivity, aggression, attention problems) and internalizing (e.g., depression) behavior problems.
Thus, prenatal exposure to OP pesticides can permanently affect behavioral health as children mature into adulthood.
This study adds to the growing body of research reinforcing the adverse effects of OP exposure on cognitive health and neurological development, especially for infants and children.
Prenatal development is one of the most vulnerable periods of exposure, as the fetus is most susceptible to the harmful effects of chemical contaminants.
Many studies indicate that prenatal and early-life exposure to environmental toxicants increases susceptibility to diseases, from learning and developmental disabilities to cancer.

Bidens allegedly ‘coerced’ Burisma CEO to pay them millions to help get Ukraine prosecutor fired: FBI form

Grassley said he released the document, which describes an alleged criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a Ukrainian business executive, so that the American people can “read this document for themselves without the filter of politicians or bureaucrats.”
“For the better part of a year, I’ve been pushing the Justice Department and FBI to provide details on its handling of very significant allegations from a trusted FBI informant implicating then-Vice President Biden in a criminal bribery scheme.
While the FBI sought to obfuscate and redact, the American people can now read this document for themselves, without the filter of politicians or bureaucrats, thanks to brave and heroic whistleblowers.
Tornado damages Pfizer plant in North Carolina, will “likely lead to long-term shortages” of medicine

“I’ve got reports of 50,000 pallets of medicine that are strewn across the facility and damaged through the rain and the wind,” Stone said.
The plant produces anesthesia and other drugs as well as nearly 25% of all sterile injectable medications used in U.S. hospitals, Pfizer said on its website. Erin Fox, senior pharmacy director at University of Utah Health, said the damage “will likely lead to long-term shortages while Pfizer works to either move production to other sites or rebuilds.”
The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, where part of Rocky Mount is located, said on Facebook that they had reports of three people injured in the tornado, and that two of them had life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary report from neighboring Nash County said 13 people were injured and 89 structures were damaged, WRAL-TV reported.
New York City agrees to pay Black Lives Matter protesters $13 million in new mass arrests settlement

Experts said the settlement, which allows the city to avoid a trial, would be among the most expensive payouts ever for mass arrests. It still needs to be approved by a judge before it is finalized.
The lawsuit focused on 18 protests that erupted in New York City in the week following George Floyd’s death in May. According to attorneys for the plaintiffs, eligible persons can receive $9,950 in compensation.
Protests and riots following the 2020 killing of Floyd resulted in at least 18 deaths, $350 million worth of property damage in the Minneapolis area, and nearly $2 billion nationwide. About 10,000 people were arrested in the span of a few days.
Naked Boys Who Escaped Wisconsin Home Were So Filthy, Neighbor Believed They Were Wearing ‘Halloween Costumes’ (Exclusive)

Prosecutors in Milwaukee allege that the solitary couple kept Koch’s sons, aged 7 and 9, locked inside a room surrounded by trash and human excrement for at least the past year.
The revelation came to light on July 13 when the boys escaped through a broken window and crossed paths with Eder and his wife, Christine, as he drove her home from work.
Eder says he and Christine did not immediately recognize the soiled children were naked or that they were boys and not girls.
As they waited for emergency services to arrive, Eder says the “terrified” children ran around in circles and away from anyone who tried to help.
One of the boys just put his fingers in his ears and screamed.
Biden Administration Shuts Down Government Funding for Wuhan Lab

As reported by Daily Caller, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced its proposal to halt any further government funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) by barring it from participating in any government-funded programs.
The memo released by HHS and made public by the House Oversight Committee provides an overview of the contact that was made between the National Institutes of Health (NIH), its sub-agency National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and the grant recipient EcoHealth, which provided funding for gain-of-function research to the WIV after receiving grants from the government.
These funds were provided despite an order in October of 2014 from the Obama White House to halt any further research.

Victims of child sexual abuse across EU face ‘postcode lottery’ of injustice – report

Ireland, Cyprus, Denmark and Belgium are the only EU countries where victims can report all or most child sex offences regardless of the amount of time that has passed since the crime was committed.
Child sexual abuse is a public health ‘epidemic’ in Europe, the report says. One in five children in Europe today suffers some kind of sexual violence in their lives, the equivalent of 16 million children in the 27 EU member states.
Short criminal statutes of limitations silence victims, perpetuating their trauma and stigma and contributing to a public health crisis that costs Europe billions.
“Effective access to justice for survivors of child sexual violence should not be an optional luxury but a fundamental human right.
But all over Europe survivors are denied justice because of arbitrary criminal and civil statute of limitations,” said Miguel Hurtado, survivor, child psychiatrist and Brave movement co-founder.
Nigel Farage calls bank’s apology ‘a start’ but ‘no way near enough’ after account row

The former UKIP and Brexit Party leader has claimed the elite bank took the action because his views did not align with the firm’s “values”.
Earlier, the chief executive officer of Natwest, Alison Rose, wrote to Mr Farage offering him an apology, after he claimed to have a 40-page document that proved Coutts “exited” him because he was regarded as “xenophobic and racist” and a former “fascist”.
In the letter, she said “deeply inappropriate comments” had been made about him in documents prepared for the company’s wealth committee, and the remarks “did not reflect the view of the bank”.
Four Pakistan Police Killed In Two Separate Attacks By Taliban

Two suicide bombers attacked a sprawling compound housing a police station and government offices in north-west Pakistan on Thursday, killing at least four police officers and wounding 11 other people.
The explosive vest worn by one of the suicide bombers detonated when police opened fire after coming under attack, Mr Hayat said.
The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.
The Pakistani Taliban also claimed responsibility for the attack in Peshawar.
The two attacks came two days after a suicide car bomber targeted a truck carrying security forces in Peshawar, wounding six soldiers and two civilians.
Belarus Announces Joint Military Maneuvers With Russia’s Wagner Mercenaries

An analysis of satellite images by Skhemy (Schemes), an investigative project run by RFE/RL, estimates there are at least 485 vehicles near the tent camp in total.
The images from the Planet Labs service show almost all the equipment is located near warehouse-like buildings, as well as the parking lot of the military camp. No heavy military equipment can be seen.
The Belaruski Hayun Telegram channel, which monitors the movement of military equipment on the territory of Belarus, said it registered at least six columns of military vehicles and equipment with Wagner and Russian national flags in the country’s eastern region of Mahilyou since July 11.
On July 20, a former leader of Russian-backed separatists in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region, Igor Strelkov (aka Girkin), wrote on Telegram, citing a Wagner commander under the nom de guerre Marks, that the total number of Wagner fighters in Belarus may reach 10,000.
Ukraine starts using cluster munitions against Russian forces amid criticism

Ukrainian forces have started the use of US-provided cluster munitions in an attempt to dismantle the positions of the Russian troops, a roadblock to Ukraine’s summer offensive, reported The Washington Post citing unnamed Ukrainian officials familiar with the matter.
While speaking with the media portal on the condition of anonymity, Ukrainian officials said that these cluster bombs are being used to combat the heavily-fortified Russian trenches which have been trying to slow down Ukrainian advances in the territories it is seeking to retake.
It added that officials reportedly said that these cluster munitions will be used to counteract their significant disadvantages in artillery and the number of troops.
Media reports citing officials continued to say that the cluster munitions are being used not only on front-line positions in southeastern Ukraine but also near the Russian-controlled city of Bakhmut.
Ukraine having issues with US-supplied hardware – media

The Ukrainian military is facing spare part shortages for US-provided Bradley fighting vehicles, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.
The newspaper also cited an anonymous Pentagon official as saying that approximately a dozen of the vehicles provided to Kiev have sustained damage beyond repair.
Several unnamed Ukrainian service members told the Post that extensive Russian minefields pose the biggest threat to their hardware, while American reporters saw six Bradleys in need of repair in one location alone near the front line in Zaporozhye Region.

National security police ‘take away’ family members of wanted Hong Kong activists for questioning

Hong Kong national security police have questioned seven relatives and acquaintances of two wanted activists, in the latest move against eight overseas-based pro-democracy figures for whom arrests warrants and HK$1 million bounties were issued.
It was the latest such action against their families after officers on July 11 raided the homes of Nathan Law’s mother, father and brother and took the three away for investigation. The three were released after giving statements.
Media reports said police on Thursday morning “took away” two men and two women for investigation, including the brother of Dennis Kwok.
In addition, the brother, brother-in-law and nephew of Mung Siu-tat were taken from their home in Sha Tin on Tuesday.
Finland busts neo-Nazi group armed with 3D-printed guns

Finnish police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have concluded a preliminary investigation into a neo-Nazi extremist group, which is suspected of plotting terrorist acts involving the use of 3D-printed firearms.
The group was active in the city of Lahti, some 100km northwest of Helsinki. The group involved at least four suspects, the police said in a statement on Thursday.
They were found in possession of four FGC-9s, which are 3D-printable 9mm submachine guns. The weapons are arguably the best-known ‘product’ of the Deterrence Dispensed (DetDisp) group, a decentralized online collective promoting and distributing open-source 3D-printed firearms.
Ukraine updates: Russia targets Ukrainian ports

Russia has targeted airstrikes on Ukrainian ports in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions along the Black Sea.
The ports were used to export Ukrainian grain to the global market until Russia withdrew from an agreement guaranteeing the safety of the ships carrying foodstuffs.
As Russia is no longer a party to the Black Sea grain deal, the White House said Russian forces could attack civilian ships attempting to transport Ukrainian grain and attempt to place blame on Kyiv for such an attack.
Later Wednesday, Ukraine said that ships heading for ports controlled by Russia on the Black Sea would be treated as potentially transferring military cargo — in a tit-for-tat move after Russia’s announcement.
Here are more major developments in Russia’s war in Ukraine from Thursday, July 20:
