Maui Releases Names of 388 People Still Missing After Deadly Wildfire

“We also know that once those names come out, it can and will cause pain for folks whose loved ones are listed,” Police Chief John Pelletier said in a statement. “This is not an easy thing to do, but we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to make this investigation as complete and thorough as possible.”

Names on the list were deemed validated if officials had a person’s first and last name and a verified contact for the person who reported them missing, officials said.

An additional 1,732 people who had been reported missing have been found safe as of Thursday afternoon, officials said.

11 ‘flash mob’ robbery suspects linked to 4 SoCal smash-and-grabs arrested

A multi-agency task force that was formed to combat “flash mob” retail robberies in the Southland has made 11 arrests since being formed earlier this week, authorities said Thursday.

The Organized Retail Crime Taskforce — known as ORCT — was formed on Monday, and includes personnel from the Los Angeles, GlendaleBeverly Hills, and Burbank police departments; the California Highway Patrol; and Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

As of Wednesday, ORCT personnel had made 11 robbery arrests “which were directly related to four of the nine cases the ORCT assumed investigative responsibility for,” the LAPD reported.

The four cases involved the following locations:

Fired Ukrainian prosecutor says Joe and Hunter Biden took BRIBES

Shokin, who was ousted as Ukraine’s top prosecutor in 2016, made the accusations during excerpts of an upcoming explosive interview airing on Fox News

At the time of his firing, he was investigating oil company Burisma Holdings for corruption – when Hunter was serving on the firm’s board.

‘I do not want to deal in unproven facts. But my firm personal conviction is that yes, this was the case. They were being bribed,’ Shokin says in the clip of the interview.

‘The fact that Joe Biden gave away $1 billion in U.S. money in exchange for my dismissal – my firing – isn’t that alone a case of corruption?’ he continues in another clip.

The White House is accusing Fox News of giving a ‘platform to lies’ by airing the interview.

CDC Shuts Down V-safe App for Reporting COVID Vaccine Injuries, Former FDA Adviser Warns It’s a ‘Terrible Idea’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) V-safe website quietly stopped collecting adverse event reports with no reason or explanation.

The V-safe website simply states: “Thank you for your participation. Data collection for COVID-19 vaccines concluded on June 30, 2023.”

If you go there today, V-safe directs users to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) website for adverse event reporting, even though officials continually derided VAERS as “passive” and “unverified.”

Both VAERS and V-safe collect personal information, lot numbers, dates and associated information, but V-safe was an active collection system geared towards a younger app-using demographic.

Overdose deaths have skyrocketed since 2019, with synthetic and prescription opioids driving the crisis

The number of people overdosing on illicit and pharmaceutical drugs has steadily increased every year over the past two decades.

The two most recent years (2020 and 2021) saw the greatest increase in overdose deaths. In 1999, there were less than 20,000 overdose deaths recorded by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the Centers for Disease Control.

By 2019, the total number of overdose deaths had reached an appalling 70,630 deaths. Just a year later, overdose deaths had skyrocketed to 91,799 in 2020 and then to 106,699 in 2021.

These deaths include unintentional drug poisoning, suicidal drug poisoning, homicidal drug poisoning and drug poisoning of undetermined intent. Synthetic and prescription opioids are driving this public health crisis.

The Best Trump Mugshot Memes Mocking Democrats’ Indictment Frenzy As The Joke It Is

REALDONALDTRUMP/TWITTER/EDITED IN CANVA

Trump’s return to X certainly made waves but he wasn’t the only one breaking the internet on Thursday night.

Democrats and their propaganda press pawns no doubt intended for Trump’s booking photo to publicly humiliate him. The hordes of Photoshop fiends online, however, were only emboldened.

Dozens of memes poking fun at the deep state’s latest election interference plot are circulating on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Here are the best Trump mugshot memes that prove just how silly Democrats’ indictment frenzy really is.

Maui County Sues Hawaiian Electric for Causing Wildfire Through Negligence

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Maui County filed a lawsuit … in state Second Circuit Court in Hawaii against Hawaiian Electric and its subsidiaries on Maui, alleging the company failed to maintain the electrical system and power grid during a windstorm that lashed the island, resulting in three different fires that erupted on Aug. 8.

The lawsuit claims that the utility, known as HECO, acted negligently by not pre-emptively cutting power despite a warning the prior day from the National Weather Service of high winds and temperatures, along with low humidity—prime conditions for a wildfire. It also says HECO’s failure to maintain its system led to energized, downed power lines causing the fires.

The utility has also been faulted for spending money on “green” energy alternatives rather than in improving the safety of its transmission network, which had been identified as a potential source of wildfire risk in the recent past.

Judge approves quick trial date in Georgia RICO case for one defendant — and it could help Trump’s defense

Joe Raedle/Getty Images

In a statement, Chesebro’s attorneys said their client “will be prepared to move forward with trial on whatever date the court ultimately sets.”

The fact that Willis and her team of prosecutors now face the prospect of multiple trials — at least two, but potentially more — could help Trump and his co-defendants.

That is because, according to CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig, Trump’s attorneys will get an inside look at the prosecution’s case as it unfolds at Chesebro’s trial, thus giving them more time to prepare a robust defense.

Exclusive — Fake News Busted: Donald Trump Jr. Did Not Acquire Mar-a-Lago

“I woke up this morning to numerous media reports claiming that my dad transferred ownership of Mar-A-Lago to me, and while anyone would love to be gifted one of the most beautiful properties in the entire world, it is nothing more than total and complete fake news,” Trump Jr. told Breitbart News exclusively on Friday. “A lot of media outlets should be embarrassed with themselves for running such a phony story, but we all know that most of them won’t even retract their reports because they have no shame. SAD!”

The fake news claims spread online in the past couple days, after media outlets falsely claimed Zillow listings showed the property was sold.

Outlets as far-ranging as the Daily Express and Newsweek among others pushed the inaccurate reports.

Next Pandemic Will Come From Meat, Harvard Study Predicts

It basically reviews all the different areas of life and commerce that involve animal and human contact, however brief or rare, and the subsequent hypothetical zoonotic transmission chains. Not surprisingly, One Health documents are repeatedly referenced in this report.

Overall, the One Health agenda calls for minimizing or eliminating certain animal-human contact, sterilizing areas where animals are kept or butchered, and/or increasing the use of antibiotics and vaccines in animals across the board. It also calls for massively increased biosurveillance and testing.

In contrast, the report in question primarily focuses on legislative and regulatory actions to curtail zoonotic disease, including the potential banning of certain animal practices that “present great risk but relatively little value, economic or otherwise.”

The fake meat industry wants you to believe that their cell-based lab-concoctions are the answer to today’s environmental woes, and that includes the threat of zoonotic disease transmission, as lab-grown meat is grown in highly hygienic and sterile (supposedly) conditions.

Basically, the One Health narrative is that the natural environment poses countless risks to human health and must therefore be controlled. Meanwhile, it’s mankind’s efforts to control and replace nature in the first place that is causing most of the problems.

Kremlin Breaks Silence on Wagner Chief’s Assassination Rumors

Since the fiery crash, there has been feverish speculation about what happened, including rumors of a surface-to-air missile or explosives planted on board the plane, all steeped in suggestions that it was a Kremlin-led assassination in revenge for Mr. Prigozhin’s apparent failed coup attempt two months ago.

Amid rumors that the Kremlin was behind the crash, spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters during a conference call on Friday that any such suggestions were false.

“Right now, of course, there are lots of speculations around this plane crash and the tragic deaths of the passengers of the plane, including Yevgeny Prigozhin,” Mr. Peskov told reporters on Friday.

“Of course, in the West, those speculations are put out under a certain angle, and all of it is a complete lie.”

Sudan: UN warns of hunger, disease, displacement

The UN said over 4 million Sudanese have been displaced by the fighting, with many crossing over into neighboring countriesImage: MOHANED BELAL/AFP

The fighting between Sudan’s military and its paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has gripped the country since mid-April, threatens to “consume” all of the country, the UN warned on Friday.

Under General Abdel-Fattah Burhan and Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo’s RSF, the military has been locked in a deadly fight for power.

Fighting has been primarily centered around the capital, Khartoum, and the conflict-torn Darfur region.

“This viral conflict, and the hunger, disease and displacement left in its wake, now threatens to consume the entire country,” said the United Nations’ humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths. He added that the conflict was “fueling a humanitarian emergency of epic proportions.”

G20 trade meeting ends with ‘concrete’ plans, no Ukraine consensus

The meeting marked one of the last chances to issue a customary joint statement at a G20 ministerial meeting before the Sept. 9-10 leaders summit in New Delhi. A culture ministers meeting this Saturday in Varanasi would be the final ministerial conference before the main event.

The Kremlin on Friday said Russian President Vladimir Putin has “no plans” to attend the leaders meeting next month in person, Reuters reported, but the war looks likely to overshadow the talks nonetheless.

Friday’s agreed points include a pledge to support small businesses and a plan to create a framework for mapping global supply chains. But Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, who chaired the Jaipur meeting, told a media briefing that there was one paragraph “where we could not get consensus for obvious reasons,” without mentioning Russia or Ukraine specifically.

Crisis unleashed: Lawlessness threatens South Riverdale Community Health Centre

The Leslieville area of east-end Toronto is an increasingly gentrified area of Hogtown. But there’s a huge blight in the neighbourhood: the South Riverdale Community Health Centre, which operates a so-called “safe injection site.”

While some clients are harmless, others are deranged and prone to violence. Armed drug dealers are attracted to this facility, and when things get heated, this stretch of Queen Street East is a virtual no-go zone.

The Health Centre first made headlines on July 7 when Karolina Huebner-Makurat, a mother of two, was murdered in broad daylight.

Apparently, dueling drug dealers got into an argument and they decided to settle the dispute with a gunfight. Karolina was in the wrong place at the wrong time when she was fatally struck down by a stray bullet.

But it gets even worse. Earlier this month, the sickos who run this joint launched a promotional campaign apparently targeted at children.

A poster shockingly noted: “Got Sharps? Want Chocolate? For every full sharps container you return to COUNTERfit, we’ll give you a chocolate bar.”

‘What a Small Corrupt World’: Moderna Hires UK Official Who Negotiated COVID Vaccine Contracts

The U.K.’s former Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam — who during the COVID-19 pandemic became a household name in the U.K. due to his public briefings on the progress of the virus — recently joined COVID-19 vaccine maker Moderna as a senior medical consultant.

For political commentator Russell Brand, this is evidence of a corrupt “revolving door” between governments and Big Pharma that enriches a few at taxpayers’ expense.

In a recent episode of his “Stay Free” podcast, Brand asked viewers:

“Do you think it’s right that someone that worked for the government during the pandemic is able to take a job at Moderna subsequently?”

“Imagine,” he said, “if you said then [at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic], ‘What if high-level government officials that are involved in the recommendation of these medical solutions then take jobs [with the vaccine manufacturers]?’”

The U.K. government bought tens of millions of Moderna’s COVID-19 shots during the pandemic and struck a 10-year partnership with the company to boost research and development of mRNA vaccines in the U.K., including constructing a new vaccine factory.

‘Obeying God rather than man’: Church of God pastor pleads guilty to 2021 violation of Reopening Ontario Act

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Geoff Robins

Alymer, Ont., Church of God Pastor Henry Hildebrandt must pay $65,000 in fines after pleading guilty to violating the Reopening Ontario Act in 2021, marking the end of the church’s longstanding legal battle that originally included over $270,000 in fines and other fees.

Pastor Hildebrandt released a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, following the decision, declaring,

“I admitted today to one count of obeying God rather than man. I freely admit that we violated the Reopening Ontario Act, an act which brazenly violated section 2 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”

The charges Pastor Hildebrandt received involved the organization of nine church services between January and June 2021 in Elgin County. These services exceeded provincial gathering capacity restrictions in place under the Reopening Ontario Act, which at the time made it unlawful to gather in groups of more than 25 outdoors and 10 indoors.

‘Little Russia’: Moscow’s occupation of a Ukrainian town

Image: DW

It was the first city to surrender without condition to Russian forces when they invaded in February 2022. The town’s mayor, Hennadiy Matsehora, told his fellow citizens that he had done so to “avoid human sacrifice and destruction of our infrastructure.”

On pro-Russian Telegram channels, the seemingly non-violent power transfer was dubbed a symbol of Moscow’s intentions for Ukraine. Kupyansk was to become a bastion of Russian cultural and political revival — or so the messaging went.

But before Russia’s efforts to root out Ukrainian heritage could begin in earnest, Russian forces needed to deal with the resistance they met in the aftermath of the surrender; not a firefight led by partisans against the invader, but rather a demonstration of locals led by Mykola Masliy, a local opposition leader and veteran of the 2014 conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Japan’s Fukushima operator says released nuclear wastewater samples within safe limits

Photo: TEPCO.

TEPCO took what it called rapid tests on Thursday afternoon after the release into the Pacific Ocean began, and on Friday it said that the results showed that radioactivity levels were within safe limits.

Japan’s environment ministry said it had collected seawater samples from 11 different locations on Friday, results of which would be released on Sunday.

The Fisheries Agency also pulled a flounder and a Gurnard fish early Friday from designated sampling spots near the pipe that released the Fukushima water.

“By publishing those data every day in a highly transparent fashion, we will demonstrate our actions based on scientific evidence,” said Trade and Industry Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura, who is in charge of nuclear policies.

Dutch foreign minister named new EU climate czar candidate

The other EU nations’ reception of Hoekstra’s candidacy remains to be seen.

He is due to meet EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday for what he described to local media as a “careful discussion,” as he tries to convince the EU parliament of his candidacy.

In the midst of the pandemic, Hoekstra angered the EU’s southern partners in 2020 when he criticized their budgeting capabilities, commenting on their ability to fund a medical response to the COVID-19 outburst.

At the time, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa described his comments as “repugnant.”

Blue State Blues: Democrats Beware, the Trump Mugshot Has Rallied the Opposition

SAUL LOEB/AFP via Getty Images

Note the half-hearted attempts by celebrities and talking heads to claim that Trump is getting what he deserves.

They know the Georgia indictment is a joke — that a thousand Democratic politicians, including the prosecutor herself, could just as easily be indicted for the non-crime of claiming that elections have been stolen.

Democrats relished the idea of this moment — for years — before it happened. Yet now that it is a reality, what they should really fear is what Republicans will do in response.

Big changes will be made, and justifiably so. Secret archives will be opened. Mass pardons will be offered. Whole government departments will be dismantled or relocated. There will be no kangaroo courts — none of the perversions Democrats have committed — but the Democrats behind the “Russia collusion” hoax, including Hillary Clinton, should call their lawyers.

There will be no mercy for those who have attacked the rights and values of our constitution and then claimed to be acting in defense of democracy — a democracy they abhor when it provides leaders that do not serve their own corrupt interests.

Voters in Zimbabwe braced for a close election on Friday after the first results trickled in, showing the ruling ZANU-PF with a narrow lead over the opposition in the parliamentary vote.

Results announced so far by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission showed ZANU-PF winning 43 parliamentary constituencies out of 210 single-member seats.

The main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), was reported to have won in 37 constituencies.

“These are attacks on constitutional freedoms and rights that we have. And that is the point. It does also clarify what the next election is about, and how important it is for everyone who cares about the country to be united on standing up against this. This is how you lose a republic. And so it clarifies all the issues,” said Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway.

Taiwan’s vice president accuses China of attempting to influence the country’s upcoming election

William Lai, who met with foreign journalists in Taipei, said China “want to intervene in the election with all kinds of tactics.” If successful, “it will undermine Taiwan’s democracy,” he said.

His comments came after China announced on Monday it was suspending mango imports from Taiwan after authorities found pests in the fruit. Trade restrictions are widely believed to be politically motivated.

Mr Lai said the Chinese government is engaging in “unfair trade practices against our agricultural products, possibly with the aim of undermining the upcoming elections”.

Taiwan will hold presidential elections in January 2024.
