Judge Dismisses Most Counts in Civil Suit Against Trump and Jan. 6 Rioters Over Officer’s Death

Afederal judge on Tuesday dismissed most counts in a civil suit against Donald Trump and two other men in connection with the death of U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick.
In a 12-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta dismissed three of the five civil counts in a lawsuit filed last January by Sandra Garza, Sicknick’s domestic partner.
Sicknick responded to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol Building, where he was incapacitated after being sprayed with chemical spray and collapsed at about 10 p.m., according to court records. He was rushed to the hospital and died the next evening.
The D.C. medical examiner’s office found that Sicknick died of “natural causes” from a series of strokes and that “all that transpired on [January 6] played a role in his condition.”
True the Vote Defeats Fair Fight, Stacy Abrams, Marc Elias, and the Biden Department of Justice in Landmark Election Case in Georgia Federal Court

HOUSTON, TX, January 2, 2024 – True the Vote (TTV) declares a decisive triumph in their legal battle against Stacy Abrams’ Fair Fight, legal teams led by Marc Elias, and the Biden Department of Justice.
A federal court in the Northern District of Georgia today affirmed that citizens have the right to lawfully petition their government in support of election integrity without fear of persecution or prosecution.
In a resounding vindication, TTV successfully defended its actions of December 2020, aiding Georgia citizens in filing elector challenges based on data showing over 364,000 voters appeared to be ineligible to vote due to change in residency.
This victory is a testament to every American’s constitutional right to free speech and the importance of actively participating in the electoral process.
The DUMBEST new laws in 2024
With a new year comes new laws … and this year’s batch includes some incredibly awful ones. Glenn reviews some of the dumbest state laws that are going into effect this year: California is forcing national fast food chains to raise the minimum wage to $20 (who saw that one coming?!).
California is also forcing toy retailers to comply with its woke gender agenda, but at least it’s making it easier for … potheads … to keep their jobs. Meanwhile in Illinois, non-citizens will be allowed to become sheriffs and obtain driver’s licenses. And Colorado is banning plastic grocery bags! Gee … what do all these states have in common?
Biden admin effectively fast-tracks interview process for Chinese migrants illegally crossing southern border: Report

According to an April email obtained by the DCNF from a former law enforcement official, a CBP supervisor instructed roughly 500 Border Patrol agents to reduce the number of interview questions posed to Chinese migrants who illegally entered the country from approximately 40 to five.
“Headquarters guidance has been received regarding Chinese nationals in our custody,” the email reads. “There is no requirement for 100% Chinese in depth interviews or phone downloads.”
The email noted that illegal immigrants from China are only to be “asked the basic questions,” which included information regarding “Military Service,” “Universities,” “POB/Region,” “Employment,” and “Political Party.”

California still bleeding residents amid looming $68B deficit as population flees to Republican states

What’s worse for California is that more than 500,000 residents with at least a bachelor’s degree have moved out of the state between 2021-2022, the LA Times reported. While approximately 350,000 college graduates moved-in during the same time period, that’s still a net loss of 150,000.
This has contributed to a 25% drop in personal income tax collection in 2023, the outlet claimed, which helped add to the state’s shiny new $68 billion deficit projection.
While complicated, the deficit is due in part to both over-spending and the aforementioned mass exodus.
The state’s own report added that “revenues are lower than Budget Act projections by $58 Billion” while it also anticipated a “deficit of around $14 billion.”
Funding Terrorism | Full Measure
The ground war between Israel and both Hamas and Hezbollah has raised questions about the underground world of money and financing that’s behind decades of terrorism.
In the year leading up to the attacks, both groups received large amounts of funding through crypto, but, as Scott Thuman reports, there’s a longstanding network that works like a multinational criminal enterprise.
Released Migrants Overwhelm Texas Border Town on New Year’s Day

EAGLE PASS, Texas — With non-government migrant shelters at capacity and closed for the New Year’s Day holiday, the Border Patrol was forced to release migrants directly onto the streets of Eagle Pass.
Most of the migrants huddled outside a local transportation company, hoping to make a quick exit from the small border city.
The transportation hub is only a block from an official port of entry that has been closed for weeks due to the latest border surge hitting the small community of 30,000 residents.

Embattled Harvard President Claudine Gay resigns from her position, report says

The Harvard Crimson, citing a person with knowledge of the decision, reported that Gay’s resignation marks the end of the shortest presidency in the university’s history.
Gay’s decision to step down comes amid a Congressional investigation into plagiarism allegations that have been made against her.
Gay, along with Penn President Liz Magill and MIT President Sally Kornbluth, were grilled for five hours on how their institutions had responded to instances of antisemitism on campuses.
3 Cases Where US Is on Razor’s Edge

Americans are far beyond President Joe Biden’s serial untruths of some eight years that he never discussed son Hunter Biden’s various get-rich-quick schemes.
All were predicated on the perception of foreign interests purchasing from the Biden family the influence of then-senator, vice president, and possibly soon-to-be President Joe Biden.

Nolte: Donald Trump Schedules Fox News Town Hall Against CNN GOP Debate

The Fox News town hall “will focus on the leading issues facing voters ahead of the Iowa Caucus.”
Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is also counter-programming the CNN debate, which he predicts “will be the most boring in history.” Instead, he will participate in “a live-audience show that night in Des Moines with [Tim Pool] instead.”
This is the power Trump holds. He enjoys something rare in politics these days — a huge following backed by a second-to-none star power. And so, instead of engaging in presidential politics in the usual-usual boring ways, which would be to elevate his opponents by appearing in these dumb debates, he plays the game his way … and he plays to win.

Moment Japan Airlines plane touches down as cabin fills with smoke

The Japan Airlines jet was engulfed in a raging inferno as it sat on the runway at Haneda Airport, in Ota City, Tokyo, today, with gouts of flame seen pouring out of the passenger windows.
New footage taken from inside the plane shows passengers panicking as smoke fills the cabin. Several can be seen with masks and rags over their mouth in an effort to limit the amount of smoke they inhale, while others can be heard crying out in fear.
Another new clip showed smoke pouring out of the side of the plane as it touches down on the runway of Haneda Airport, the busiest in the country, which saw over 26.5 million passengers in 2021.
Images from the scene showed how the passenger escape slide protruding from one of the airliner’s doors was set ablaze as more flames burned within the cabin.

Millions of Americans could lose internet aid months before the 2024 election

Rolanda Hayden may owe her job to a fast home internet connection — and a benefit from Washington that lets her afford it.
But far from Hayden’s rural home, Washington is battling over whether to keep the program going — potentially cutting off more than 22 million households from a subsidy they’ve come to rely on.
If Congress can’t find a way to fund the program by spring, the federal government will have to quickly unwind it. A failure could also come with political consequences at a critical time ahead of 2024, giving voters in swing states a cause for frustration at politicians yanking away aid.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier will return to its home port, the U.S. Navy said on Monday, ending its deployment to the eastern Mediterranean, which started in support of Israel after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had extended the Ford’s deployment three times in hopes that its presence would deter Iran and Iran-aligned groups, particularly Lebanon’s Hezbollah, from attacking Israel.
The Ford will return to its home base in Virginia.
