Ukraine emergency app sends fake nuclear and chemical attack alerts in suspected cyberattack

Hackers sent fake nuclear attack warnings to residents of Kyiv through Ukraine’s nationwide emergency alert app on Sunday night, raising fears of an imminent strike.

According to The Guardian, the app issued false warnings about nuclear radiation, chemical threats and street fighting shortly before 11:00 PM local time.

The messages appeared in Ukrainian and English, with several spelling mistakes. A Russian-language warning also claimed Ukraine was facing an attack involving nuclear-capable Oreshnik missiles.

“I was briefly terrified. I lay on my bed and wondered what was coming,” Kyiv resident Nina told The Guardian.

The emergency app later confirmed that “unauthorised parties” had interfered with its operations. Officials temporarily suspended the service and warned users against opening suspicious links.

The hackers’ identities remain unknown, although Russian media reported that a group called Hitcore had claimed responsibility.

The incident came as Russian forces resumed attacks on Kherson following a six-day ceasefire.

Ukrainian officials said a Russian drone struck a hospital on Monday morning, damaging rooms and windows. No injuries were reported.

The ceasefire had allowed hundreds of civilians to evacuate from Russian-controlled Oleshky, but Ukrainian officials accused Russian troops of using the pause to strengthen their positions.

Evil mom gets huge sentence for letting husband rape daughter, 11, then forcing her to give birth in ‘deplorable’ home

A depraved mom who let her husband rape her 11-year-old daughter — then forced her to give birth to his baby in their feces-filled Oklahoma home — has been sentenced to seven life sentences to be served consecutively.

Cherie Walker, 34, will die behind bars after being sentenced Friday for six counts of child neglect and one count of enabling sexual abuse  – joining her pedophile husband, Dustin Walker, who was sentenced to life in June.

The abuse only emerged after Cherie Walker’s daughter gave birth without medical help at their disgusting Muskogee County home in August last year.

The abused girl was the eldest of six kids found “with no clothing” and lice in their hair in “deplorable conditions,” according to court documents seen by NBC News. The other children were 2, 4, 6, 7 and 9.

The parents were initially charged with child neglect — but the charges were upgraded when a DNA test revealed with 99.9% certainty that Dustin Walker was the father of his 11-year-old stepdaughter’s baby.

The Walkers initially both claimed they did not know the girl was pregnant. However, a pediatrician testified that it would have been impossible to miss, KJRH reported.

The mom was convicted of allowing her husband abuse the girl and refusing to get her medical treatment even when she knew she was pregnant.

“This child is traumatized,” Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson previously said.

“She’s been through a horrific ordeal. I mean, not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life.”

Dustin Walker pleaded guilty in March. He received a life sentence for the child sexual abuse charge, and 42 years for the child neglect charges.

Trump asks Supreme Court to segregate California ballots

The Trump administration on Monday asked justices on the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene as it seeks to segregate mail-in ballots in California over fears of noncitizens voting. 

The U.S. Department of Justice asked justices on the high court to temporarily block an order from a lower court judge preventing nearly 20,000 individual ballots from being segregated.

The appeal to the high court comes one day before the 2026 midterm elections, where stakes are high as legal battles surmount across the country. 

Solicitor General John Sauer said the measure was a necessary step to ensure the integrity of federal elections across California. The state sends mail-in ballots to every registered voter leading up to an election. 

“Once California commingles the challenged ballots with lawful ones, there is no way to get the challenged ballots back,” Sauer wrote in a filing. “The only way to preserve the district court’s ability to grant relief to the United States after a full merits proceeding, therefore, is to segregate the challenged ballots now.”

On Oct. 13, the Justice Department warned the California Secretary of State’s office about 20,000 “highly likely” noncitizen voters. Election officials in California said the effort would create confusion for voters and sow distrust in the system. 

Kiersten Pels, a spokesperson with the Justice Department, told The Center Square 28 people on that list were charged with federal crimes, including lying about their citizenship to vote. 

“What undermines confidence is noncitizens voting,” said Pels. “Eligible citizens are not affected. We asked counties to set aside these ballots, not cancel them, until citizenship is confirmed.”

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has repeatedly dismissed claims of noncitizen voting in the state’s elections.  ….
