US govt. settles with Navy Seals fired for refusing Covid vaccines

U.S. Navy sailors and the Biden administration have reached a settlement in a legal battle that has lasted nearly four years over the Department of Defense (DoD) Covid-19 vaccine mandate.

The settlement provides that sailors who refused to take the Covid shots for religious belief reasons will have their record expunged and will be protected against discrimination for promotions over the next three years.

As part of the settlement, there is a provision related to promotions that prevents the promotion boards from considering “any adverse information related solely to Covid shot refusal in cases in which a religious accommodation was requested.”

The personnel records of all the sailors subject to this lawsuit will be reviewed and any information on consequences for refusing to take the controversial shot will be expunged.

Meanwhile, sailors no longer with the Navy will have their records corrected and a public statement will be issued….

ASSISTED SUICIDE AVAILED OF SOLELY RELATED TO EATING DISORDERS – STUDY

Credit: Unsplash

The review aimed to identify all known cases of assisted suicides among patients with EDs and to describe the clinical rationales used to grant patients’ requests for assisted suicide.

It identified at least 60 cases of patients in the US, the Netherlands and Belgium who availed of assisted suicide because they suffered with an eating disorder.

Of the 60+ cases identified across 10 peer-reviewed articles and 20 government reports, 19 included descriptive case summaries with information about the patients and the clinical rationales that were used to justify assisted suicide.

All 19 patients were women, with six under the age of 30, seven between the ages of 30 and 50, and another six over 50 years old.

Eleven of the women (61%) had been diagnosed with anorexia, while one person was described as obese (but her ED was not specified), and five had EDs but without specific diagnoses provided…..

America First lawsuit claims FBI engaged in widespread social media monitoring during 2022 elections

(AP Photo/Jose Luis Magana, file)

Right Side Broadcasting Network, a pro-Trump streaming outlet, had its account flagged online by the FBI, according to a lawsuit launched by America First Legal.

America First sued the FBI and the Justice Department in 2023 over alleged election interference by the Biden-Harris administration and Big Tech.

In a release Thursday, the organization said the government perpetrated widespread social media monitoring ahead of the 2022 midterms.

The pro-Trump legal group noted that it appears the FBI — from its New York and San Francisco offices — flagged domestic social media accounts like RSBN for “information related to criminal violations of election law.”

Using its election command post, the bureau and DOJ attorneys alongside outside resources would flag posts and accounts for additional action……

Ukraine likely used U.S.-supplied missile to sink Russian submarine, say British officials

WP, AI generated image.

Ukrainian forces probably used the U.S.-supplied Army Tactical Missile System last week in the sinking of the Rostov-on-Don, a Russian Kilo-class attack submarine that was part of the Black Sea Fleet, British officials said.

Saturday’s hit was part of a series of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian targets in the Black Sea area. Despite lacking a serviceable fleet, Kyiv has successfully wielded missiles, uncrewed aerial vehicles and sea-launched drones to damage or destroy several high-profile Russian naval targets.

On Wednesday, U.K. military officials said they don’t believe the Rostov-on-Don was fully repaired after a previous Ukrainian strike on occupied Crimea in September.

“This latest attack is almost certainly the final chapter for the submarine, with it highly likely being more economically viable to build a replacement than recover and repair it,” British defense ministry officials said on X in their latest assessment of the Ukraine battlefield…..

FTX must pay $12.7 billion to defrauded customers

(AP Photo/Marta Lavandier)

The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX has been ordered to pay over $12 billion in relief to former customers.

On Thursday, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission ordered FTX to pay $8.7 billion in restitution and an additional $4 billion to former customers, “which will be used to further compensate victims for losses suffered as a result of the massive fraudulent scheme orchestrated by Samuel Bankman-Fried.”

Mr. Bankman-Fried, the former head of FTX, was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March for stealing $8 billion from customers.

The order also provides reassurances that the federal government’s ongoing lawsuit against FTX will not diminish the funds available to defrauded customers…..

FBI let suspect in plot to kill Trump into U.S. on parole despite terror ties, Iran trip, memos show

The FBI declined to comment about the documents obtained by Just the News. But, the JTTF interview summary and immigration records give some rich detail about what the bureau knew before it allowed Merchant to enter the country and what conditions they placed on his entry.

The immigration records from his arrival in Houston on April 13 clearly stated in bright red that he was flagged by the Department of Homeland Security database with the identifier “WATCH LIST” and denoted as a “Lookout Qualified Person of Interest.”

Despite direct travel to a country with known terrorist activity, the memo relays that Merchant was “released without incident” into the United States and was “free to travel to desired destination,” which was listed as a family member’s home in Texas.

Law enforcement officials who alerted Just the News to the FBI’s role in April compared the parole decision to an earlier law enforcement controversy known as the “Fast and Furious” scandal in which federal agents allowed U.S. guns to flow to Mexican cartels in hopes of tracking crimes…..

Donald Trump Says He Has Agreed to Three Debates in September at Mar-a-Lago Press Conference

Former President Donald Trump said during a Thursday press conference that he has agreed to three debates with three different television networks in September and is awaiting Vice President Kamala Harris’s confirmation.

During the press conference at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, the Republican presidential nominee said he has agreed to a debate against Harris on Fox News on September 4, another debate on NBC on September 10 — which Trump described as “a fairly full agreement, subject to them” — and a third debate on ABC on September 25.

“We have spoken to the heads of the networks and it’s all been confirmed other than some fairly minor details,” Trump said.

“The other side has to agree to the terms,” he added, referring to the Harris campaign. “They may or may not agree. I don’t know. She hasn’t done an interview. She can’t do an interview. She’s barely competent. She can’t do an interview, but I look forward to the debates because we have to set the record straight.”….

Prosecutors Reject Effort to Exclude Foreign Influence Evidence in Hunter Biden Tax Case

(Mandel Ngan/AFP via Getty Images)

Federal prosecutors in the tax evasion case against Hunter Biden have opposed an effort by his legal team to exclude evidence allegedly showing how foreign interests hired him to influence the U.S. government while his father was vice president.

In a court filing dated Aug. 7, the U.S. Department of Justice said it also plans to present the alleged evidence at Biden’s upcoming trial.

The filing was in response to a pre-trial motion from Biden’s legal team seeking to exclude the political corruption allegations against him.

In the filing, the government alleges the younger Biden was hired by a Romanian businessman who was accused of corruption and who sought to “influence U.S. policy and public opinion” regarding an investigation into him in Romania……

Kenya: Police fire tear gas as Ruto’s Cabinet sworn in

Police fired tear gas at protesters in Nairobi as President William Ruto’s new Cabinet was sworn in on Thursday, with the crowds urging the president to step down.

The “8/8 Liberation March” in reference to Thursday’s date, follows weeks of similar pro-reform protests that prompted Ruto to halt planned tax hikes and overhaul his Cabinet.

Frustrated by systemic corruption, unemployment and rising living costs, youngsters in Kenya have been making calls to action under the hashtag #NaneNaneMarch, meaning ‘eight eight.’

Youth-led protests in Kenya began peacefully in June but turned violent more recently, and the unrest has resulted in more than 50 people losing their lives, according to activists.

And on Thursday, shops in Nairobi were shut while public transport was out of service in the central areas of the Kenyan capital, most notably in the business district.

Bulgaria bans LGBT propaganda in schools

The Bulgarian parliament has passed an amendment to the preschool and school education law, which bans the “promotion of ideas and views related to non-traditional sexual orientation.”

The amendment was adopted with 135 deputies voting in favor, 57 against, and 8 abstentions.

The new regulations stem from a survey conducted in schools about the attitudes of students aged 14 to 18 towards LGBT issues. The draft amendment was quickly passed on Wednesday after being introduced in the national parliament.

Under the new law, Bulgarian preschools and schools face a total ban on promoting “in any way ideas and views related to non-traditional sexual orientation or defining a gender identity different from biological sex.”….

Fearing refinery closures, a California board proposes state purchase and operate the facilities

The California Energy Commission has put forth a proposal for the state to purchase and operate refineries

The commission oversees California’s goal of eliminating fossil fuels as a source of electricity. Its “Transportation Fuels Assessment” recognizes that gasoline fuels power most vehicle miles in the state, and gasoline prices will have impacts across the state’s economy.

“Harmful industry conduct will be amplified by bad actors acting anticompetitively,” the CEC warns. “During this critical transition period, additional oversight is necessary to protect Californians from further market dysfunction and potential market manipulation.”

The solution is for the state to take control of the refineries, which the CEC believes will produce better outcomes for consumers.

“The State of California would purchase and own refineries in the State to manage the supply and price of gasoline,” the report proposes. “The state would operate a market independent source of production, which would eliminate potential market manipulation.”

The U.S. experimented with energy price controls in the 1970s under then-President Richard Nixon, which are today considered a contributing factor in the decade’s energy crisis.

Venezuela nationalized its oil industry in 1971, which preceded a collapse of oil production in the socialist nation.

Millions of taxpayer dollars wrongly went to union pension plans for deceased Americans

U.S Rep. Bob Good, R-VirginiaU.S. House via YouTube

U.S. Rep. and Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., and Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee Chair Bob Good, R-Va., sent a letter to the Biden administration Wednesday following up to see what action the administration has taken to recover funds wrongly allotted to multi-employer pension plans.

Lawmakers passed the American Rescue Plan in 2021, which created the Special Financial Assistance Program to save the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, which was in dire financial straits.

Foxx and Good have been conducting ongoing oversight of the PBGC, which has been under scrutiny ever since the Inspector General reported that millions of dollars were wrongly paid out to pensions for thousands of deceased Americans.

The letter went to Attorney General Merrick Garland and demanded documents to prove the administration is actually following up on this issue.

“On April 8, 2024, DOJ announced it had entered into a civil settlement agreement to receive repayment of these funds from Central States,” the letter said. “One other plan, the Graphic Communications National Pension Fund (NPF), also agreed to repay $8 million of improper SFA it received on behalf of deceased participants. However, PBGC has not reported repayment from more than 60 other plans that received similar improper payments.”….

Op-Ed: Kamala Harris is the border czar. She failed at her job

Sgt. Danielle Koster | Iowa Air National Guard

I have been a Border Patrol agent since 1997, serving under Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden, and I served as president of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) from 2013 to earlier this year. I have worked alongside U.S. presidents, members of Congress, and elected officials across the political spectrum to find ways to strengthen our border security and give our Border Patrol agents the resources they need to keep America safe.

Let me clear something up: Vice President Kamala Harris is the “Border Czar,” and while she is trying to deny that fact, pretend to care about border security, and distance herself from her failures now, her actions over the last four years have shown a complete disregard for the human suffering that occurs daily at our nation’s southern border.

My job as president of the NBPC was to represent the interests of my agents, both politically and officially. For many years, the National Border Patrol Council remained impartial in presidential politics – but due to President Obama’s second-term failures, in 2016 we felt the need to thoroughly evaluate our prospective elected officials’ plans to secure our border. We vetted all candidates, including Democrats.

Ultimately, we endorsed President Trump because we saw someone who would cut through Washington bureaucracy to implement tangible policies that combat illegal immigration. We were right. President Trump drove illegal border crossings to historic lows not just once, but twice. He began construction of a wall across 400 miles of the border, and illegal crossings plummeted by over 87% in areas where the wall was complete. He deployed nearly 5,000 troops to provide much-needed support to our Border Patrol agents, and Mexico deployed tens of thousands of their own soldiers and national guardsmen to prevent crossings on their side.

Under President Trump, our border was secure, our agents were supported, migrants weren’t suffering at the hands of cartels, and our country was safer.

Fast forward to 2021. I wanted President Biden and Vice President Harris to succeed, and I did my best to work with their administration. When Vice President Harris was charged with leading our country’s response to the worsening border crisis – through Secretary Mayorkas, who assured me all policy, program, and operational suggestions would be passed up the chain – I presented her with several policy proposals to help reduce the influx of migrants, stop cartels from taking advantage of innocent people for monetary gain, and halt deadly fentanyl from entering our communities. She shot them down……

Water bottler ordered to stop operations in California mountains

WP, AI generated image.

The federal government has backed up California state regulators in ordering the company that bottles Arrowhead water to stop drawing from the San Bernardino Mountains.

Though BlueTriton Brands draws from springs in the mountains that have been used for bottled water since 1906, environmental activists have claimed the removal of that water is harming wildlife, particularly Strawberry Creek.

About a year ago, California’s Water Resources Control Board ordered BlueTriton to stop using the water, which flows through public lands like the San Bernardino National Forest.

While environmental activists are cheering, BlueTriton released a statement to the Times decrying the decision and claiming it’s “unsupported by facts.”

“BlueTriton Brands and its predecessors ‘have continuously operated under a series of special use permits for nearly a century,’” the company told the Times in an email.

World Federation of Advertisers shuts down GARM project after Elon Musk, Rumble sue over ad boycott

The Global Alliance for Responsible Media has decided to “discontinue activities” after a lawsuit filed against them by Elon Musk’s X and the Rumble platform. The group was under fire for antitrust violations after they had orchestrated ad boycotts of both platforms using their monopoly.

The House Judiciary said this was a “Big win for the First Amendment” and a “Big win for oversight.” The House Committee brought questions about GARM, their monopoly on advertisers, and their use of that monopoly to influence online speech to a hearing.

Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski simply wanted to know “what are they hiding?” He has been forthcoming in discussing the ad boycott of his platform.

Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski on suing ad monopoly that launched boycott of X, Rumble

Members of WFA were informed of the decision on Thursday via email. That email said that the decision was “not made lightly.” but that they were confident that the case “will demonstrate our full adherence to competition rules in all our activities.”

Speaking to Fox on Wednesday about the suit, Pavlovski explained that “What the World Federation of Advertisers has done is they created a monopoly to basically tell all these advertisers how they should spend money based on certain speech.” That’s why the suit was launched.

In speaking about the suit on X, CEO Linda Yaccarino said “I was shocked by the evidence uncovered by the House Judiciary Committee that a group of companies organized a systematic illegal boycott against X. It is just wrong. And that is why we are taking action.” She then announced an anti-trust lawsuit against GARM as well as “four of its key members and the World Federation of Advertisers.”

More than 6,000 noncitizens removed from Virginia voter rolls

Anew executive order from the Republican governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin, revealed the steps that leaders of the commonwealth have taken to shore up confidence in the election process, including removing tens of thousands of noncitizens and deceased voters from voter rolls.

On Wednesday, Youngkin issued Executive Order 35, which aims “to protect the casting of legal ballots by legally eligible voters in Virginia’s elections.” The EO listed several Virginia voting regulations that those living in other states likely wish they had:

  • 100% paper ballots,
  • strict chain of custody for all ballots as well as daily reconciliation during the early voting period,
  • “no mass mailing of ballots” — application for mail-in ballot required,
  • 24/7 monitoring of all drop boxes,
  • no “voting machines,” only machines designed to count ballots, and
  • strict prohibition against hooking counting machines up to the internet.

In addition, the EO explained recent efforts to clean up voter rolls by conducting audits and tracking voters who have since moved out of state or passed away. Nearly 80,000 deceased voters were removed from the commonwealth’s voter rolls in 2023 alone…..

The UK is weaponizing a COVID-era ‘disinformation’ agency against those posting about the riots

Like the Harris-Biden administration and the Stanford Internet Observatory across the Atlantic, the CDU has leaned on social media companies in recent years to flag and censor supposed disinformation. During the pandemic, for instance, it monitored lockdown and vaccine critics and targeted critics of government policy.

Amid calls for review and controversy over its censorious practices, the CDU was rebranded as the National Security Online Information Team.

Axel Rudakubana, the 18-year-old son of Rwandan immigrants, apparently stormed into a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, England, on July 29 and butchered three girls — Elsie Dot Stancombe, Alice da Silva Aguiar, and Bebe King. Rudakubana also grievously wounded five other children and two adults.

The initial refusal of authorities to indicate the attacker’s nationality or release his name upon his arrest — apparently customary when dealing with minors who are suspects — prompted many to suspect that he was an asylum seeker captive to a radical ideology.

Protests and riots, fueled further by longstanding frustrations with unchecked migration, British Islamicizationcoverups, and a failure of assimilation, soon began to sweep the country.

While hundreds of rioters have reportedly been arrested, authorities are also going after those whose related posts and comments online are supposedly false or inflammatory.

Cooper further emphasized that “keyboard warriors also cannot hide” and will be “liable for prosecution and strong penalties too,” reported the BBC.

According to the Telegraph, the NSOIT is now being used to monitor social media posts regarding the riots….

Taylor Swift ISIS bombing suspect pictured holding dual knives as chilling details of terrorist plot revealed

The teen suspects arrested for plotting an ISIS-style terror attack at one of Taylor Swift’s Austrian concerts this week had planned to drive a bomb-filled car into the crowd to kill as many as possible and had reportedly just been hired by the venue to work security.

Terrifying details of the foiled attack emerged after authorities revealed that two men, ages 19 and 17, had been taken into custody in Vienna on Wednesday — resulting in Swift’s three sold-out Eras shows in the city being canceled.

The two suspects, who investigators say had become radicalized online by ISIS, had allegedly wanted to carry out the attack outside the Ernst Happel Stadium — killing fans with self-made explosives and machetes, security officials said Thursday.

The alleged ringleader, a 19-year-old Austrian with North Macedonian roots, had chemical substances and technical devices stashed inside his home when it was raided by authorities, according to officials….
