Social media erupts after Jack Smith files to dismiss Jan. 6 charges against Trump

Special counsel Jack Smith faced further accusations of political lawfare online after he filed to dismiss the cases against President-elect Donald Trump on Monday.

Less than three weeks after Trump bested Vice President Kamala Harris, Smith filed a motion to end the cases centered on Trump’s actions leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021, and Trump’s handling of classified documents. Politicians and lawyers alike responded to the filing Monday on X.

“All that has changed is that Trump won the election And now Jack Smith is moving to dismiss,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) wrote. “Isn’t that tantamount to an admission that this was just politicized lawfare from the beginning?”

“The Jack Smith cases will be remembered as a dark chapter of weaponization,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) wrote. “They never should have been brought. Our elections are decided by voters–not by fanatical, deranged liberal lawyers like Jack Smith.”

“Jack Smith-your losing joke of an indictment didn’t have a chance in hell to begin with as SCOTUS made clear,” former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner wrote. “Your motion to dismiss is long over due. I hope you’re investigated until the end of time when AG @PamBondi takes over. Thankful to the voter mandating lawfare end!”…

Congress’s Jan. 6 Investigation Looks Less and Less Credible

The J6 Committee fueled doubts about the official accounts by using only Democratically-appointed members and skewing the evidence. The new information further undermines the narrative pushed by both members and the media.

The continued distrust of the official accounts of Jan. 6 reflects a failure of the House Democrats, and specifically former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), to guarantee a credible and comprehensive investigation.

The House Select Committee to investigate January 6 was comprised of Democrat-selected members who offered only one possible view: that January 6 was an attempt to overthrow our democracy by Trump and his supporters. The committee hired a former ABC News producer to create a slick, made-for-television production that barred opposing views and countervailing evidence. The members, including Republican Vice Chair Liz Cheney, played edited videotapes of Trump’s speech that removed the portion where Trump called on his supporters to protest “peacefully.”

The committee fostered false accounts, including the claim that there was a violent episode with Trump trying to wrestle control of the presidential limousine. The Committee knew that the key Secret Service driver directly contradicted that account offered by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.

Nevertheless, the Washington Post, NPR, other media and the committee members called Jan. 6 an “insurrection” engineered by Trump. Figures such as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) insisted the committee had evidence that Trump organized a “coup” on Jan. 6, 2021. That evidence never materialized.

The lack of adequate security measures that day has long puzzled many of us.

After all, there had been a violent riot at the White House before January 6, in which more officers were injured and Trump had to be moved to a secure location. The National Guard had to be called out to protect the White House, but those same measures (including a fence) were not ordered at the Capitol.

Two of the recent reports offered new details related to those questions…

Family of pastor killed in crash question release of illegal immigrant driver

The driver involved in the crash was identified as a citizen of Colombia who had entered the United States illegally, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Authorities released the driver pending a future court date, a decision that has left the Singleton family seeking answers.

“I had to sit and watch my husband of 53 years die in front of me, and then to know that the person who did this is walking around is very difficult to deal with,” Teri Singleton, his wife, told Fox 2 Detroit. “He’s dead and they’re walking around. That’s bothering me,” she added, echoing the grief and disbelief felt by her family.

The incident occurred in early November when Singleton, a well-known pastor in the Detroit area, was hit while on one of his regular morning walks, according to ABC 7. Police stated that Singleton was wearing a reflective vest and was crossing at a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a man driving a 2013 Ford Focus.

“He had almost every bone in his body broken,” said Teri. “He had his collarbone fractured, internal organ damage, and his skull was cracked. He had two craniotomies in the hospital.” Despite medical intervention, Singleton succumbed to his injuries several days later.

In a separate incident in September, an illegal immigrant accused of raping a 14-year-old girl and repeatedly stabbing a man during a robbery was arrested in connection with the crimes only a few months after his release from custody at the southwest border, according to a congressional report.

The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement released a report at the time, citing figures stating that the administration has released 5.6 million illegal immigrants into the U.S. within the last four years, and another 1.9 million escaped into the country during this time.

Under the Biden administration, U.S. Border Patrol also released an illegal migrant who went on to murder Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student. Despite multiple encounters with law enforcement after he illegally entered the U.S., the man was allowed to roam free…..

‘No Idea Who Voted’: GA County Official Says She Was Forced To Certify Election Without Crucial Docs

On Nov. 12, the Fulton County Board of Registration and Election (FCBRE) certified the results of the 2024 election. Except no one knows with certainty if the results were actually accurate because crucial data was withheld, according to a member of the board.

President-elect Donald Trump won the Peach State but lost Fulton County to Vice President Kamala Harris by 240,097 votes. The results were then certified on Nov. 12, but board members, who are considered the superintendents of elections, weren’t given access to all the requested election-related documentation, FCBRE member Julie Adams told The Federalist.

“I, along with all my board members, did not receive the Numbered List of Electors (the actual names along with their voter register numbers, by precinct and by the method in which they voted) or a list of the number of votes cast, by precinct or by vote method,” Adams said. “So, I have no idea who voted and the votes cast.”

The Numbered List of Electors and the Cast Votes Records, which shows the number of votes cast by precinct and vote method, is required for board members, like Adams, to ensure that there were not more votes cast than voters who voted. It’s a basic process known as reconciliation that happens before certification.

“And we never had the completed Numbered List of Electors or the Numbered List of Votes Cast, both by precinct and by vote method. The thing missing was clearly the most important thing,” Adams said. “We didn’t have anything, including the Numbered List of Absentee Voters (which includes mail-in and [overseas ballots].”

Adams says the election director, Nadine Williams, is in charge of providing the documents to board members but that there was a delay in producing the reports because the board had to adjudicate more than 8,000 ballots that failed to credit qualified write-in candidates.

Adams says she repeatedly asked Williams about the status of the documents she requested but ultimately never received them…..

Special Counsel Smith seeks to dismiss Jan. 6 charges against Trump

Judge Tanya Chutkan will need to approve the request before the case is dismissed.

After Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election earlier this month, Smith signaled he would begin winding down the case against Trump. The filing went live on the Department of Justice docket on Monday afternoon.

Smith had already filed a motion to vacate all deadlines in the 2020 election interference case against Trump in Washington, D.C. – a widely expected move, but one that stopped short of dropping the case against Trump completely. Smith had said his team planned to give an updated report on the official status of the case against Trump on Dec. 2.
