Woman sleeping at home awoke to find homeless illegal alien attacking her, police say
Aman who allegedly attacked a woman in her home in Pennsylvania on Sunday was later determined to be an illegal alien who claimed to be homeless.
Police said that the 32-year-old woman reported being awakened by a man on top of her, who attacked when she resisted at about 2 a.m. She was able to fight him off by punching him in the eye and kicking him in the face, according to an affidavit.
At one point, she says that the man put her in a stranglehold and was cutting off the flow of oxygen before she was able to escape his grip. He ran away but was able to steal her iPad on his way out.
The woman described the man as having shaggy hair, wearing a baseball cap as well as a green-yellow windbreaker. She said he only spoke Spanish.
About nine hours after the attack, police were able to find a suspect who matched the victim’s description. She was able to positively identify him, and police said that he was in possession of her iPad. He also had a fresh injury to his eye, which matched with the woman’s description of the fight.
The man was identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Avila-Arevalo.
Avila-Arevalo was arraigned on Monday morning with the aid of an interpreter and was held on a cash bail of $99,000. His attorney had argued that he was not a bail risk because he was homeless and did not have any money.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris says she will not run for California governor in 2026
Former Vice President Kamala Harris will not run for California governor next year, leaving open the possibility that she could mount a third run for the White House in 2028.
“Over the past six months, I have spent time reflecting on this moment in our nation’s history and the best way for me to continue fighting for the American people and advancing the values and ideals I hold dear,” Harris said in a statement released by her office Wednesday.
“I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their governor. I love this state, its people and its promise. It is my home. But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election,” she said.
Harris’ decision extends a guessing game about her political future that started after she lost last year’s presidential election to Donald Trump. Senate Judiciary Chairman Grassley and House Permanent Select Comm. on Intelligence Chairman Crawford request FBI to review thumb drives containing Hillary Clinton emails
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, along with House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford, have requested FBI Director Kash Patel to conduct a deeper investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.
Grassley (R-Iowa) and Crawford (R-Ark.) recently issued a letter addressed to Patel, saying that the “untapped and unreviewed information has lived within thumb drives in the FBI’s custody inside a Northern Virginia offshoot office of the FBI’s Washington Field Office since 2018.”
“The revelations contained in the declassified OIG appendix are at the heart of why the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) became distrusted by so many under your agency’s prior directors: a failure to impartially conduct its law enforcement and intelligence mission,” they wrote in their letter to Patel.
The statement went on to accuse the former FBI, led by former Director James Comey, of having “shockingly failed to review and exploit evidence in its own possession, even though they admitted in written memos the information was necessary to conduct a ‘thorough and complete investigation.”
The lawmakers also accused the FBI of having “failed to review and exploit other foreign intelligence information.”
“We now write to stress the importance that this material be immediately dug out from hiding and properly assessed,” they continued, adding that the evidence “purportedly includes information related to ‘former President Barack Obama’s emails and ‘network infrastructure diagrams for U.S. government classified networks,’ remained unreviewed by the preeminent law enforcement agency in the world is mind-numbing.”
The letter came after Grassley’s efforts to get an appendix to a June 2018 report, reviewing the FBI and Department of Justice’s handling of the investigation, also known as the “Clinton annex,” declassified.
“Appendix” refers to a supplementary document or section attached. This appendix likely contains additional information, findings, or analysis that were not included in the main body of the report, possibly due to classification or sensitivity.
Grassley’s efforts are aimed at getting this appendix declassified so it can be publicly disclosed…

California’s strict gun laws are poised to become even more stringent. The state legislature is expected to vote next month on a measure that would ban the sale of new Glock handguns — one of the most widely owned brands of firearms in the United States.
If signed into law, California would become the first state to ban sales of the popular handgun model. Even California’s own Kamala Harris told “60 Minutes” that she owns one.
Democrats are likely to pass the bill in the legislature. However, it’s unclear whether Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom will sign it. The uncertainty comes just weeks after Newsom became a gun owner himself.
Newsom receives gun as a gift
Newsom recently accepted a handgun as a gift from conservative podcast host Shawn Ryan. According to reports, it is Newsom’s first registered firearm.
“Oh geez, what have you got me?” Newsom said on “The Shawn Ryan Show.”
“You know, the last thing people would expect is I respect this gift,” Newsom continued. “I’m not anti-gun at all.”
Although he accepted the firearm, Newsom left it behind in Tennessee — for now. In order to bring it to California, he must comply with his own state’s gun laws.
According to Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California, in order to legally acquire the firearm, Newsom would need to have it shipped from a licensed dealer in Tennessee to a registered firearms dealer in California.
Paredes said Newsom would have to pass a background check, be fingerprinted, take and pass a handgun safety test, sign an affidavit, provide proof of address in person and pay all applicable state fees and taxes…

Emergency crews from the Danville Fire Department and Danville Life Saving Crew responded to the scene and rendered aid before Vogler was airlifted to a regional burn center in Lynchburg.
Officials said he was ‘awake and talking,’ but the full extent of his injuries is not yet known.
Police said the suspect fled the scene, but witnesses provided a description of both the man and his vehicle.
Officers stopped the suspect several blocks away and took him into custody without incident. He was later identified as 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes of Danville.

Abortionist Should be Held Accountable for Illegally Selling Abortion Drugs
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, has filed a legal petition against a New York county clerk who is shielding an abortionist from being held accountable for illegally causing the death of a baby in Texas last year.
CatholicVote previously reported that Dr. Margaret Carpenter, a New York abortionist, is facing legal consequences from Texas after she mailed a pregnant woman abortion drugs.
According to a news release from Paxton’s office, the drugs resulted in an abortion and serious medical complications for the mother.
Though Paxton in February secured a $100,000 penalty and permanent injunction against Carpenter for violating Texas law, which almost entirely protects unborn life, New York has not cooperated to hold her accountable.
According to the release, the New York acting county clerk for Ulster County, Taylor Bruck, has “plainly rejected any attempt by Texas to enforce the judgment and authorize collection of the penalty.”
Paxton’s recently submitted petition seeks a court order to require Carpenter to pay the fine, the release stated.
“Dr. Carpenter is a radical abortionist who must face justice, not get legal protection from New York liberals intent on ending the lives of as many unborn children as they can,” Paxton said. “No matter where they reside, pro-abortion extremists who send drugs designed to kill the unborn into Texas will face the full force of our state’s pro-life laws.”…

On Sunday, Ratcliffe told Bartiromo that additional information will soon be made public. It will show that, while the Clinton campaign was the source of the Russia Collusion hoax, the FBI had its own agenda to magnify and perpetuate the claims in the Steele Dossier, named after Democratic opposition researcher and former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.
Ratcliffe emphasized that, long before Gabbard’s office released receipts over a week ago, before the Robert Mueller investigation cleared Trump, and even before the Deep State tried to set up Trump as a “Putin puppet” through Operation Crossfire Hurricane, the U.S. intel community knew Trump was not working with the Russians.
American intel intercepted in August 2016 Russian intel “talking about a Hillary Clinton plan … to falsely accuse Donald Trump of Russia collusion, to vilify him and smear him.…”
Brennan, then the director of the CIA, briefed Obama, then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper, and Comey about this plan.
Months later, those same people would take part in a pivotal meeting that resulted in a propaganda campaign projecting those claims as true.
Ratcliffe said that four years later, in 2020, he found Brennan’s handwritten notes that acknowledged Clinton’s plan (the notes were shown on the screen during the Bartiromo segment). By that time, though, those same people were busy concocting their next propaganda operation, the Hunter Biden Laptop hoax.
And it’s only now, Ratcliffe added, after Americans reelected Trump, that “all of this evidence that’s been hidden and buried from the American people is finally coming to light.”
No Statute of Limitations
Ratcliffe said that the statute of limitations does not apply and should not shield the people he referred for criminal prosecution.
He pointed out that Brennan testified to John Durham in 2020 and the House Oversight Committee in 2022, Clinton testified to Durham in 2022, and Comey testified before the Senate Committee in September 2020 with these same false claims.
He also added that Clinton’s role has been verified in multiple ways, including by Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, who testified in the Michael Sussmann trial that the former presidential candidate personally approved a plan to convince the public that the Trump team colluded with the Russians.
The new Trump DOJ, Ratcliffe said, provides an opportunity to “look at how these people really did conspire to run a hoax, fraud, on the American people and against Donald Trump’s presidency.” The CIA chief said accountability is part of the reason they’re bringing all of this to light, but so is prevention. Something like this should never happen again.
