LA County Boss Gets $2M ‘Emotional Distress’ Settlement After Voters Make Her Run for Office

Chicago, Baltimore, sure they’re bad, but I don’t think any part of the country has a political class as completely insane, corrupt and entitled as California does. Unlike some of the blighted urban areas, SoCal isn’t naturally that dysfunctional, much of this is a choice, a choice to run a state and key cities like they were a UCLA campus takeover but with lots more money at stake. This is the work of a political class that has become self-electing and self-selecting to the point that being forced to run for office…

… leads to a $2 million emotional distress settlement.

L.A. County’s secretive $2 million payout to its CEO two months ago — first revealed by LAist this week — was to settle her claims that she was harmed by a ballot measure that will change her job to an elected position and by the county’s messaging.

CEO Fesia Davenport had requested the settlement for what she claimed was “reputational harm, embarrassment and physical, emotional and mental distress caused by the Measure G.”

Measure G will transform the CEO job from an appointed position into an elected one starting in 2028.

Davenport was LA County’s first black CEO. LA County is not in good shape. There are also various interests in the area, including the Board of Supervisors, grappling for power with each other.

Now they could have just handled this like adults and leaked hit pieces to the press, dispatched friendly law enforcement allies to raid each other, and accused each other of racism and homophobia, but this ‘safe space’ level nonsense is something else entirely.

Take this in for a moment. Fesia had “emotional distress” inflicted on her by having to run for office in an elected position.

She also wrote that she deserved compensation from her career as the at-will CEO being cut short by the shift to elected CEO in late 2028, which she said also would lessen how much retirement she’d earn.

Measure G “ends my career as CEO at least two years earlier than I intend,” Davenport wrote.

How much was Fesia earning? $810,319.00 with pay and benefits.

By the way note the “secretive” part. Everything in California governance is secretive now.

County supervisors unanimously approved the settlement July 29, with Davenport and county executives giving final sign off in mid-August. But it was not reported publicly until LAist obtained a copy of the settlement and published it this week. The taxpayer-funded deal was also labeled as ‘confidential.’

Not a big deal really because this system casually steals hundreds of millions and billions so why not give Fesia a going away present to compensate for her having to run for office…..

UK ‘ready to spend well over £100m’ on possible deployment of British troops to Ukraine

The defence secretary’s plan includes the preparation of military personnel to join a multinational force that would be sent to help secure Ukraine’s borders if the US president brokers a ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv.

He signalled British troops could be ready to deploy as soon as that happened and he said this could include soldiers on the ground.

Some of the anticipated money to prepare for any mission is already being spent.

The defence secretary also warned of a “new era of threat” and said the risk of wider conflict in Europe has not been as great since the end of the Second World War.

Mr Healey used a lecture at Mansion House in London to talk about efforts led by the UK and France to build a “coalition of the willing” of more than 30 nations to form what he called a “Multinational Force Ukraine” over the past six months.

This force would help to secure Ukraine’s skies and seas and train its troops if Russia agrees to halt its full-scale war.

“So, as President Trump leads the push for peace here in Europe, we are ready to lead the work to secure it in the long-term,” the defence secretary said.

“For our Armed Forces, I am already reviewing readiness levels and accelerating millions of pounds of funding to prepare for any possible deployment into Ukraine.”…

Trump signs $8.5 billion rare earths deal with Australia

US President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Monday signed an agreement on Australia’s rare earth minerals.

The agreement comes as China puts new restrictions on rare earth exports, prompting Trump to impose an additional 100% tariff on imports from China from next month.

“In about a year from now, we’ll have so much critical mineral and rare earths that you won’t know what to do with them,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

Trump was hosting Albanese this morning at the White House and the leaders signed the document before the media.

Albanese described the deal as an $8.5 billion pipeline “that we have ready to go.”

Under the critical minerals pact, both the US and Australia are to each invest $1
billion over the next six months into mining and processing projects that will be available immediately, the prime minister’s office said.

The projects are divided into three groups — joint investments between the US and Australia; sole projects in Australia; and joint projects between the US, Australia and Japan.

Trump also signaled support for an arrangement under a trilateral security partnership called “AUKUS” to sell Australia nuclear-powered submarines by 2032.

Australia would then build a new submarine class with the UK, according to the pact that was reached in 2023 under then-President Joe Biden.

Security experts and analysts closely followed the meeting to learn more on the AUKUS deal since there were fears that it could be scrapped….

South Korea Sets Sights on Becoming the World’s Fourth-Largest Defense Power by 2030

South Korea opened its largest-ever Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition on Monday with a clear ambition: to vault into the world’s top four defense powers by 2030.

President Lee Jae-myung pledged a larger-than-expected surge in research and development for defense and aerospace over the next five years, framing “technology sovereignty” in critical inputs—such as specialized semiconductors—as central to the plan.

The push builds on rapid momentum. South Korea has climbed into the global top tier of arms exporters, with sales accelerating since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine triggered a European rearmament cycle.

At this year’s ADEX, more than 600 companies from 35 countries are showcasing unmanned and AI-enabled systems—from loitering munitions and automated howitzers to the KF-21 fighter—signaling where Seoul expects the market to grow fastest.

Exports are the engine. Seoul’s signature packages combine quick delivery with co-production and technology transfer, aiming to help buyers expand their own defense bases while locking in long-term Korean supply chains.

Poland has become the marquee customer for this model, with a multi-year program spanning tanks, howitzers, rocket artillery and light fighters—an approach South Korea now wants to replicate with partners in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Money will follow the rhetoric. The government has flagged a sharp increase in defense outlays for 2026, creating fiscal room to scale production and meet export backlogs while funding the next wave of R&D.

The agenda reaches beyond hardware: Lee’s team is pitching the transfer of manufacturing know-how, tooling and training as part of the export offer, which could deepen industrial ties well past initial contracts….

EU Seeks Ways to Step Up Checks on Russia’s ‘Shadow Fleet’

The European Union is looking to increase the ability of its member states to carry out inspections on Russia’s “shadow fleet” of aging oil tankers, officials said on Monday.

France — which briefly detained one of the vessels recently — has called for tougher actions to crimp the key source of revenues for Russia’s Ukraine war chest.

The 27-nation bloc has already blacklisted hundreds of tankers used by Moscow to help circumvent restrictions on its lucrative crude exports.

Brussels is now pitching a new proposal to sign agreements with states where the ships are formally registered to facilitate checks.

“We are discussing with the member states how to better coordinate our actions regarding the shadow fleet,” EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas said at a meeting with foreign ministers.

“We should think about it more — to be more creative.”

Under the proposal seen by AFP, the EU’s diplomatic arm wants member states to agree on a declaration that would allow Brussels to sign deals with flag states.

“EU Member States increasingly demonstrate a renewed momentum for more robust enforcement actions tackling the shadow fleet,” the document circulated by Brussels said.

“The EU could support Member States in their efforts if they agree to grant the EU the right to negotiate agreements on their behalf for pre-authorized boardings for inspections.”

The EU estimated that the Russian “shadow fleet” currently comprises “anywhere from 600 to up to 1,400 vessels.”…

EU’s top diplomat unhappy over Putin-Trump peace summit

The EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has said that it is “not nice” that Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet his US counterpart Donald Trump for peace talks in Hungary.

The two leaders announced plans to meet in Budapest after they spoke for over two hours by phone on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Monday, Kallas said that she would be unhappy to see “a person with an arrest warrant put by the ICC… coming to a European [sic EU] country.”

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Putin in March 2023, over allegations that children were unlawfully deported from Donbass. Moscow does not recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction but has said that children were evacuated from the war zone for their own safety and to be safely reunited with their families.

While Hungary is a signatory to the Rome Statute that governs the ICC’s activities, Budapest has guaranteed passage to the Russian president.

Speaking to TASS on Monday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed that the “aggressive Western European community” was seeking to “derail any peaceful aspirations” through “active subversive actions.”

Calls for peace in Brussels are mere “camouflage,” she said.

On Saturday, Spain’s El Pais newspaper claimed that the planned Putin-Trump meeting in the heart of Europe was an “embarrassing and awkward situation” for the EU, which would apparently be excluded from the peace process…..

The EU is doing everything in its power to undermine the upcoming summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.

Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS on Monday that the bloc is carrying out “active subversive actions” ahead of the planned meeting in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

Her comments followed a report by Spanish outlet El Pais, which said Brussels viewed the talks as “a political nightmare.” Citing diplomatic sources, the newspaper reported that the summit put the EU “in an awkward and unpleasant position” because Putin and Trump would discuss a potential settlement to the Ukraine conflict in an EU country without the bloc’s participation.

Zakharova said the “aggressive Western European community” wants to “derail any peaceful aspirations” related to the conflict. “We are seeing statements, threats being made,” she added.

The Western Europeans are “obviously, doing everything to escalate the conflict” between Moscow and Kiev, the spokeswoman stressed. They have been acting this way since 2022 when they “thwarted” the peace talks between the sides in Istanbul, she added.

Mom arrested for murder after 9-year-old daughter dies in hot car

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office released this mugshot of Gbemisola Akayinode.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office

Oluwasikemi died on July 1 after she was left in a car for over eight hours on a 99-degree day while her mother went to work at a manufacturing plant in Galena Park near Houston, according to court documents.

When Gbemisola Akayinode parked at work at about 5:45 a.m., she said she left her daughter with food, a rechargeable fan, ice cubes and water, and lowered the car’s back windows down halfway, court documents said. She gave her daughter melatonin and saw her start to fall asleep in the back seat, according to court documents.

Gbemisola Akayinode said she didn’t check on Oluwasikemi until her shift ended at 1:53 p.m., documents said. When Gbemisola Akayinode reached the car, she said her daughter was unresponsive and blue, and she screamed for help.

Gbemisola Akayinode said she had taken Oluwasikemi to work with her several times previously, including the day before, court documents said. She said she brought her daughter with her because she didn’t have money for day care until her next paycheck, but investigators determined the foreman at her job was paying for day care for her, court documents said.

Officials said in July that they were waiting for the 9-year-old’s autopsy results before deciding if any charges would be filed….

Liberals urged to cut Old Age Security spending in upcoming budget

Advocates are calling on the Carney Liberals to start with the biggest line item when deciding where to cut spending ahead of the upcoming federal budget.

Paul Kershaw, the head of generational fairness group Generation Squeeze, told reporters in Ottawa that the $80-billion Old Age Security (OAS) program desperately needed to be reined in, with federal spending hurtling toward a crisis point.

“(OAS) is now the single biggest driver of federal deficits. It costs $42 billion more than a decade ago and adds more to red ink than child care, than PharmaCare, than dental care, or defence,” said Kershaw.

Kershaw noted that the interim budget watchdog said in a recent committee appearance that the federal government was spending at an unsustainable rate.

Generation Squeeze is calling for OAS payments to be reduced for retired couples with incomes over $100,000. Under the current rules, couples with incomes of up to $182,000 qualify for the full $18,000 benefit.

Article content

The group says its proposal would save Canadians $7 billion a year, while increasing the benefit for some single seniors.

Kershaw said that OAS has drifted too far from its original aim of “protecting insecure retirees” to “padding the comfort of affluence.”

“Let’s be clear, helping poor retirees is a duty. Subsidizing affluence is a waste,” said Kershaw….

The Age of Performative Protest Is Dead

In the crisp autumn air of October 18th, 2025, the latest spectacle in America’s endless parade of Leftist outrage unfolded under the banner of “No Kings.” Billed as a nationwide uprising against President Trump’s second term, this so-called protest wave promised millions marching in over 2,700 events across all 50 states.

What it delivered, however, was a pathetic tableau: gray-haired retirees shuffling along sidewalks in ill-fitting protest t-shirts, clutching Starbucks cups like talismans against the chill.

Photos from Memphis showed protesters in blow-up costumes that sagged like deflated egos, while New York crowds looked less like revolutionaries and more like a bus tour from an Arizona assisted-living facility. If this is the death rattle of the activist Left’s march obsession, good riddance. The era of performative protest—those choreographed tantrums masquerading as moral urgency—is finally, mercifully, dead.

For decades, the Left has fetishized the protest march as its sacred rite, a way to signal virtue without sacrificing a single drop of real blood, sweat, or treasure. But even as organizers crowed about “7 million” participants, the “No Kings” fiasco exposed the activist Left’s decaying core.

These weren’t organic eruptions of fury; they were astroturfed field trips, bankrolled by billionaire puppeteers who treat democracy like a video game they can reload after a loss. Chief among the disingenuous funders is George Soros, whose Open Society Foundations have funneled millions into the protest’s backbone organizations, like the progressive agitprop machine Indivisible.

Soros, the Hungarian-born hedge fund billionaire with a knack for currency crashes and cultural meddling, has long viewed America as his personal laboratory for “open society” experiments—code for dismantling borders, traditions, and sanity one grant at a time. His $7 million war chest alone has greased the wheels for these anti-Trump circuses, turning what should be grassroots dissent into paid performances…..

US Army, contractors constructing miles of border wall barriers in Arizona

Despite an ongoing government shutdown, the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and contractors are actively constructing miles of new border wall in Arizona.

In one region, they’ve begun constructing 15 miles of border wall at the Barry M. Goldwater Range in Arizona. The portion of the border wall is a “critical project” that will protect “a vital military installation” and strengthen border security, the Department of War said.

The range borders Mexico, the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, the Sonoran Desert National Monument, and the Tohono Oʼodham Nation. It’s primarily used for air-to-ground bombing practice by roughly 20 squadrons from the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy. Pilots who use the range are stationed at Davis–Monthan Air Force Base, Luke Air Force Base, Tucson Air National Guard Base and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. Air National Guard from multiple states also train there.

Spanning more than one million acres, its combined air space is geographically larger than the state of Connecticut, making it “an invaluable and irreplaceable asset.”

Currently, the barrier at the range is a dilapidated 12-foot mesh fence with holes cut in it to crawl through and it’s climbable.

Similar fencing exists in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection El Paso Sector in New Mexico, The Center Square has observed. The mesh fence there is also being replaced with the same steel bollard wall structure.

Approximately $230 million worth of contracts were awarded to construct the range section of the wall in Arizona.

The steel panel wall structure is nearly identical to what has been built in Texas by the first and current Trump administration, The Center Square has reported. …

Watch: “No Kings” Protesters Are Violent Radicals Who Want To Kill Conservatives

The weekend’s “No Kings” Democrat protests against the duly elected U.S. Commander-in-Chief, President Trump, exposed average leftist demonstrators as violent extremists itching for a fight with the MAGA movement.

Several videos and photos from the nationwide rallies went viral as they showed the Trump Derangement Syndrome-suffering liberals advocating for the president, ICE agents and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to be murdered, as well as celebrating the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Outside an ICE facility in Chicago, deranged Democrats cheered as a child in a Covid mask smashed and stabbed a Donald Trump piñata with a metal pole.

“This is one of the most horrific things I’ve ever seen. I filmed it yesterday at the Broadview (Chicago) ICE facility while reporting for Frontlines TPUSA,” wrote journalist Cam Higby.

A woman in Maine said she hopes to wake up and see President Trump’s obituary in the newspapers.

Another Chicago demonstrator encouraged his peers to murder ICE agents.

“You gotta grab a gun. We gotta turn around the guns on this fascist system. These ICE agents gotta get shot and wiped out,” the man shouted into a microphone. “This same machinery that’s on full display right there has to get wiped out.”….

“One Must Kill A White & Blonde Child & Cut Off Their Head” – The Rape And Murder Of 12-Year-Old May Have Been Occult Ritual, Reports French Journalist

Ever since an Algerian woman, Dahbia Benkired, allegedly raped and murdered 12-year-old Lola Daviet in Paris in 2022, there have been rumors that the gruesome murder was connected to occult practices. Now, the horrific occult theory behind her murder has come more into light after the first day of the Algerian woman’s trial.

French journalist Amaury Bucco, who is covering the trial for Valeurs, stated on X that investigators had a number of solid leads to support the theory of witchcraft.

“Various elements of the investigation point to the lead of witchcraft: The investigator, for example, recounts having heard a witness during the investigations who would recount that Dahbia had a discussion a weekend before the events, in Pornic. Friends of this witness had started a philosophical conversation about zero and death, which would have interested Dahbia, who would then have mentioned an Algerian custom for finding treasure,” wrote Bucco on X. He has been providing live updates from the courtroom throughout the ongoing trial, which took nearly three years to actually bring Dahbia Benkired into a courtroom.

From there, the details grow darker, including a fringe North African custom involving the killing of a White child with blonde hair.

“According to this custom, she would have recounted, one must kill a White and blonde child and cut off their head, then observe the direction of the blood flow to find a treasure,” writes Bucco.

“Other elements point to a context of witchcraft, Dahbia having, for example, stated that she had collected Lola’s blood in a bottle and drunk it. According to the investigations, Dahbia also conducted searches on her phone to find out how to perform a human sacrifice,” he continues.

Notably, one fact that has been established is that Lola had the numbers 1 and 0 drawn on her hands and feet, pointing to an occult element to her death.

The fact that investigators have now confirmed that Dahbia Benkired was searching for information about human sacrifice before the murder of Lola also raises suspicions.

Whether this theory is ever confirmed remains to be seen, but certainly Lola herself was a young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes.

In fact, such a tradition does indeed in North Africa and the broader African regions involving the ritual use of children, often with specific traits such as being blonde or albino.

Alaska communities devastated by severe storm could take years to recover

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska warned over the weekend that it could take years for some of her state’s communities to recover after they were devastated by a powerful storm recently.

Speaking at the Alaska Federation of Natives’ annual convention on Saturday, the Republican shared her experience visiting Kipnuk, a village where officials estimate 90% of structures were destroyed amid flooding and other extreme conditions, describing the widespread devastation and “long road” ahead for rebuilding.

“It’s going to take years to recover from the disaster of what we have seen with this storm,” she said. Murkowski added, “We have to come together in times of tragedy and disasters – we know that.

“After the flood waters recede, and after the damage to the homes and the fish camp is calculated, there’s so much work that remains, and so much healing that is needed.”

Murkowski’s remarks came after the remnants of Typhoon Halong on the weekend of 11 October battered remote communities in south-west Alaska with strong winds, rain, record-breaking storm surges and flooding.

More than 1,500 people were displaced, and homes were inundated and swept away. At least one person was killed, and two others remained missing heading into Monday. The US Coast Guard has rescued dozens from their homes.

On 16 October, Mike Dunleavy, Alaska’s governor, said it could take “upwards of 18 months” before many residents would be able to return to their homes and communities.

In a letter to Donald Trump, Dunleavy requested that the president declare a major disaster in the state, which would unlock federal resources…..

Bolivia Officially Elects Its First Non-Socialist President in 20 Years

It looks like Bolivia is done with socialism. For the first time since 2005, the country has officially elected a candidate who is not a part of Evo Morales’ Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) party. This comes as Bolivia faces a serious economic crisis — something that seems to go hand-in-hand with years of socialism.

As I reported back in August, the country held its general election, which led to a runoff between center-right Senator Rodrigo Paz, who earned 32.18% of the vote, and conservative former President Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga, who earned 26.81% of the vote.

That run-off was on Sunday. Paz won, with preliminary results showing he earned 54.5% to Quiroga’s 45.5%. I know a lot of conservatives outside of Bolivia were hoping Quiroga would win, as Paz is a bit more to the center, but either way, almost everyone who isn’t a leftist agrees that this is a huge improvement over the last couple of decades. Many say Paz’s running mate, Edman Lara, a young — he just turned 40 —charismatic former police officer and lawyer whose social media savvy helped expose corruption within the country, helped Paz edge out Quiroga.

President-elect Paz represents the Christian Democrat Party. He was born in Spain and is the son of former Bolivian president Jaime Paz Zamora. He’s also a free market kind of guy, though he plans to be a bit cautious about making blanket changes to the country’s economy. He plans to take a “gradual approach to free-market reforms in hopes of avoiding a sharp recession or jump in inflation that would enrage the masses.”

So, what does this mean for the rest of the world? …..

No Vaccine has been shown to be safe

Many highly credentialled scientists and clinicians worldwide have been questioning the value of vaccines for years.

Big Pharma has mounted an intense effort to continue the fake vaccine narrative that vaccines, by definition, are safe. However, since the rollout of the COVID “vaccines” and the subsequent unexplained extraordinary rise in Excess Deaths reported worldwide, there has been a renewed questioning of the therapeutic value of all vaccines especially those on the childhood schedule of vaccines which begin with a hepatitis vaccine at birth which makes no sense.

As part of the renewed interest in the safety of vaccines it was discovered that no currently employed vaccine has ever been properly tested for safety against a saline placebo control which is universally accepted as the gold standard for safety testing. No vaccine has ever been tested to show the injection does not cause autism which is now at pandemic levels.

It has long been suspected that the excipients in the vaccines (including aluminium adjuvants and mercury containing preservatives) may have contributed to autism and other neurological conditions.

But in testing the vaccines for “safety”, the pharmaceutical industry often used the suspected toxic excipients as the control. So, it is no wonder that the “safety tests” did not show any significant difference between the vaccine and the control injection of suspected toxic components.

Now, the drug regulatory agencies know what constitutes a scientifically valid and true placebo controlled, double blind and randomised trial is. They are not stupid. Yet our drug regulator, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), continues to dismiss the importance of conducting proper placebo-controlled safety trials on vaccines.

To his credit, Australian Senator Alec Antic grilled TGA staff in Senate Estimates yesterday and asked the all-important question…….Have any vaccines been tested against proper placebo in trials to determine safety?….

Newsom Hides Bailout for Utility Companies; Passes Billions in Costs to Consumers

The Los Angeles Times noted that “fine print” in a 254-page bill known as SB 254 — a massive bill compared to most state legislation — lets Southern California Edison and other utilities charge consumers for wildfire damage that exceeds $21 billion, which is likely in the case of the Eaton Fire that burned much of Altadena and Pasadena on January 7.

“Other amendments in the 231-page bill known as SB 254 helped not just Edison, but all three of the state’s biggest for-profit utilities, further limiting the costs that they and their shareholders would face if the companies’ equipment ignited a catastrophic wildfire,” the Times notes.
Safeguards in the bill, such as a review of costs by the Public Utilities Commission, are essentially toothless ad would require victims of wildfires and consumers to cover wildfire costs for years before being compensated.

The legislation has revived concerns about the fact that Newsom and other politicians in the state have taken large campaign contributions from the utilities. Consumer advocates also complained that SB 254 and a 2019 law, AB 1054, that limited utility companies’ liability were both rushed through the legislature without careful review or debate.

Former Breitbart News editor Jon Fleischman noted recently that California legislators also prevent close scrutiny of legislation by passing hundreds of bills that the governor signs in giant batches every year.

SB 254 was one of those, passed before the public could analyze what Newsom was signing and why.

Southern California Edison is widely believed to have caused the Eaton Fire, which allegedly resulted from faulty power lines that sparked and spread flames in high winds that also burned Pacific Palisades that day.

Newsom Signs Bill Making Child Abduction from School Easier in California

The law, AB 495, was passed in response to concerns that children could be separated from parents who are being deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to President Donald Trump’s energetic enforcement of immigration law. But critics warned that it has almost no safeguards against strangers trying to abduct children, other than threatening them with perjury if they lie on an affidavit provided to a school.

The official summary of the bill, the “Family Preparedness Plan Act of 2025,” says that it “would revise the definition of relative to expand the type of relative who is authorized to execute a caregiver’s authorization affidavit and grant them the same rights to authorize school-related medical care, as defined, for the minor that are given to guardians.” Given a medical excuse, almost any adult could sign an affidavit and withdraw a child from school.

The California Policy Center warned:

In response to enforcement of illegal immigration by the Trump Administration, this bill puts forward an affidavit process that could easily allow for increased kidnapping and human trafficking of our children. The guardrails for this bill are insufficient and the proposed law is riddled with logistical problems that don’t require authority figures to verify that a child is being surrendered to a legitimate adult in the case of a parent being detained, as is the case with designated emergency contacts, court sanctioned standby guardians or when Child Protective Services gets involved.
