Trump, BBC agree on mediator for $10 billion lawsuit over Jan 6 documentary editing controversy

President Donald Trump and The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) agreed on a mediator on Tuesday to help resolve the president’s $10 billion lawsuit.

The BBC has come under intense scrutiny over a 2024 Panorama documentary about Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech delivered before the riot at the U.S. Capitol. Critics called the documentary misleading because it omitted Trump’s call for supporters to protest peacefully. Trump sued the BBC in December for both defamation and for a violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act for $5 billion apiece, seeking $10 billion total.

While ABC and CBS have both settled lawsuits with Trump in the past year, the BBC has vowed to fight the case. The two sides agreed on John W. Thornton, Esq., to serve as a pretrial mediator, who will seek a resolution.

“The BBC defamed President Trump by intentionally and deceitfully editing its documentary in order to try and interfere in the Presidential election. President Trump will continue to hold accountable those who traffic in lies, deception, and fake news,” a spokesperson for Trump’s legal team told Fox News Digital.

The BBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump’s suit, filed in the Southern District of Florida Federal Court, was filed in a personal capacity and named the BBC and BBC Studios Productions as defendants. The parties have proposed a mediation session the week of Oct. 26. Mediation, a standard case management step required by the court, is contingent on the outcome of a jurisdictional challenge the BBC is expected to submit later this month. …

Mother mauled to death in savage dog attack while shielding 5-year-old son

An Arizona mother of two was mauled to death by three dogs in a horrific attack while protecting her son outside her mother’s Southern California home.

Emily Panuco, 26, of Parker, Arizona, traveled to her mother’s house in Big River with her 5-year-old son to visit a litter of puppies on Feb. 27, the Colorado River Sheriff’s Department said in a press release

The week-old puppies, which belonged to Panuco’s mother, were in a cardboard box near the front door. Three adult dogs — including the litter’s mother — were also on the property.

As Panuco’s son approached the box to pet the puppies, police said all three adult dogs lunged at the young child.

Panuco subsequently jumped in and attempted to shield her son from the attack, according to police.

Tragically, Panuco sustained numerous bite wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.

Her 5-year-old son suffered two severe bites and was transported to a local hospital, before he was later released…

Rep Tony Gonzales hit with House ethics probe after aide’s suicide

The House of Representatives is launching an internal investigation into a GOP lawmaker accused of having an affair with and sexually harassing an aide who committed suicide last year.

The House Ethics Committee revealed on Wednesday that it is launching an investigative subcommittee on Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, in response to allegations he “engaged in sexual misconduct towards an individual employed in his congressional office” and “discriminated unfairly by dispensing special favors or privileges.”

Gonzales narrowly avoided defeat in his GOP primary race on Tuesday night but failed to clinch an outright majority of the vote. He’ll be facing conservative social media personality Brandon Herrera in a runoff election in May.

The Texas Republican has denied the affair with his Uvalde-based late aide, Regina Santos-Aviles, and accused her husband of extortion.

It’s not immediately clear what impact the allegations had on his performance or how they will play out between now and his next election. Gonzales defeated Herrera by less than 2% in his 2024 Republican primary.

But the growing scandal has spurred calls for his resignation, notably by some of his fellow House Republicans.

His fellow Texas lawmaker, Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, urged Gonzales not to run for re-election. “America deserves better. Tony should drop out of the race,” he posted on X.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who has also called for his resignation, announced just this week that she is forcing a vote on a measure requiring the House Ethics Committee to disclose information on lawmakers accused of sexually harassing their staff. …

Cincinnati Shooting: Two Alleged Shooters Arrested, Both Felons Barred from Gun Possession

Breitbart News reported that shots rang out in Cincinnati’s Riverfront Live music venue just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday, leaving nine people wounded.

No suspects were immediately described or apprehended when the shooting occurred. However, on Monday night, 24-year-old Franeek Cobb and 29-year-old Derrick Long were both charged in connection with the shooting, according to FOX 19.

WLMT noted that Cobb and Long were identified via “a review of surveillance footage from Riverfront Live.” Both men are now “federally charged with illegally possessing a firearm or ammunition as a convicted felon.”

U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace commented on the arrests, saying, “Our top priority is protecting our communities and holding accountable those who threaten them. If you pull a trigger in an illegal act of violence or otherwise illegally possess a firearm or ammunition, rest assured we will do everything we can to send you to federal prison.”

Private Payrolls Jump By 63,000 in February, Much More Than Expected

Private sector employers added 63,000 workers, a big rebound from the mere 11,000 in ADP’s revised January estimate. Economists had forecast 43,000 jobs added in the month.

This was the strongest hiring in the private sector in seven months, according to ADP’s data.

“We’ve seen an increase in hiring and pay gains remain solid, especially for job-stayers,” said ADP chief economist Nela Richardson.

Annual pay is up 4.5 percent for workers who have stayed in their jobs. The biggest pay gains for job stayers came in finance, where pay is up 5.2 percent, and manufacturing, where wages are up 4.9 percent. Construction workers saw a 4.7 percent gain and leisure and hospitality a 4.6 percent increase. The slowest pay gains were in information technology, where pay is up four percent.

Workers who have switched jobs have seen their pay rise 6.3 percent.

The job gains were uneven, as employers struggled to hire in a slowly growing workforce. Healthcare and education added 58,000 jobs, construction added 19,000, and information added 11,000. There were smaller rises in the payrolls for the finance, leisure and hospitality, natural resources, and “other services.”

Manufacturing employment fell, as did trade, transportation, and utilities. The biggest decline was in business and professional services, a highly cyclical sector, which shed 30,000 workers…..
