Mamdani And The Politics Of Antisemitism

Larry Kudlow argues that antisemitism, not economics, is the driving force behind Zohran Mamdani’s socialist movement.
Editor’s note: The following package brings together three recent commentaries by Larry Kudlow on the rise of Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialists of America, and the political debate over antisemitism, socialism, and New York City.
The essays have been organized as a single feature for clarity and continuity. The text of each commentary is presented as originally delivered.
I. The Animating Force Behind Mamdani’s Movement
Days after the Mamdani-DSA socialist or communist victories in New York City, there was all manner of punditry speculation about a populist revolt, the breakdown of conventional political organizations, I guess in this case the Democratic party.
Economic worries about affordability and probably other factors that undoubtedly have some merit. Yet to me, and I want to be very clear about this, the single strongest animating fervor that unites this Mamdani socialist movement is antisemitism, a hatred of Jewish people, and a desire to eliminate the state of Israel.
And that includes the diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI movement, which in many ways is the progenitor of this scourge of antisemitism.
Just look at any of these socialist mayors and their fellow travelers in New York of course, but donโt forget Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, the odd Senate race in Maine, and the other crackpot Senate candidate in Michigan.
And you will find a constant refrain attacking Israel, trying to explain away the horrific barbaric slaughter in Israel on October 7, 2023. Even defending Hamas who made the slaughter….
Judge Allows States’ Lawsuit Against Meta To Proceed

Afederal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit brought by 29 U.S. state attorneys general accusing Meta Platforms of designing Facebook and Instagram to encourage addictive use among children while concealing the potential harms from the public.
The ruling allows key claims involving deceptive practices, unfair business conduct and violations of the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) to move forward.
The decision marks a significant legal setback for the company as it faces growing scrutiny over the impact of its platforms on young users.
The states argue that research links prolonged use of Facebook and Instagram by children to depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, academic disruption and, in some cases, self-harm.
The case is part of broader nationwide litigation involving thousands of individuals, school districts and local governments seeking to hold major social media companies accountable for the effects of their platforms on children’s mental health.
Amazon to pay $2.25 million for Fair Credit Reporting Act violations, FTC announces

Amazon will pay $2.25 million in civil penalties to settle Federal Trade Commission allegations that the online retail giant knowingly violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by refusing to provide transaction records to consumers whose personal information was used by identity thieves to commit fraud, according to a June 30 announcement.
The complaint, filed by the Department of Justice after notification and referral from the FTC, alleged that Amazon.com Inc. failed on numerous occasions to comply with Section 609(e) of the FCRA.
This section requires companies to provide victims of identity theft with application and business transaction records about fraudulent transactions made in their names within 30 days of a consumerโs request.
The complaint stated that Amazon had no written policy addressing Section 609(e) requests until early 2025, following notice of an FTC investigation, despite previous outreach from FTC staff advising review of compliance.
โAmazon often put identity theft victims through a Kafkaesque ordeal by demanding they identify the thief who stole their information before Amazon would release the records the law entitles them toโrecords that could help victims protect themselves and recover from the fraudulent conduct,โ said Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTCโs Bureau of Consumer Protection. โThe FTC will not allow companies to simply ignore their legal obligations, especially those designed to support and protect identity theft victims.โ
According to allegations in the complaint, many consumers who contacted Amazon about fraud were told customer service agents could not provide requested records for security or privacy reasons.
In one example cited in the complaint, a consumer was asked repeatedly for details they did not know about an account opened fraudulently using their credit card.
Other instances involved agents telling consumers they could not access needed records or denying requests even when submitted by authorized law enforcement agencies acting on behalf of victims.
DHS: ICE Arrests Convicted Criminal Illegal Aliens

In a press release, DHS said those arrested had prior convictions for crimes including homicide, child sexual assault, aggravated rape, assault with a deadly weapon, drug trafficking, burglary and child abuse.
The agency identified individuals arrested in states including North Carolina, Colorado, California, Louisiana, Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Utah, and Nevada.
Among those listed were a Mexican national convicted of homicide in North Carolina, a Mexican national convicted of sexually assaulting a child in Colorado, a Guatemalan national convicted of felony assault in Virginia, and several foreign nationals convicted of cocaine trafficking offenses.
“Over the weekend the men and women of ICE were hard at work arresting criminal illegal aliens convicted for homicide, child sexual abuse, assault, rape, and drug trafficking,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement.
She said the administration would continue arresting and removing criminal illegal immigrants from the United States.
The arrests come as the Trump administration has made immigration enforcement and deportations a centerpiece of its second-term agenda….
Watchdog to FCC: Reject ABC Broadcast License Renewals

A conservative media watchdog is urging the Federal Communications Commission to deny the renewal of several ABC broadcast licenses, arguing the network has failed to serve the public interest by engaging in partisan news coverage and misinformation, the New York Post reported on Tuesday.
The Media Research Center (MRC) filed a petition with the FCC this week opposing the renewal of eight Disney-owned broadcast licenses โ including ABC-owned television stations in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
The filing comes as the FCC is conducting an early review of the licenses after Chairman Brendan Carr accelerated the renewal process last year.
“We finally have an FCC willing to hold Disney and ABC accountable,” MRC President David Bozell said in a statement. “Broadcast licenses are a privilege, not an entitlement. In exchange for free use of the public airwaves, broadcasters agree to serve the public interest.”
Bozell added that “if ABC wants to operate like a partisan cable network, it should give up the benefits reserved for broadcast licensees. No one is above the law, and ABC should not have its broadcast licenses renewed.”
The FCC said the review is part of its statutory responsibility.
“Broadcast licenses are not sacred cows,” an FCC spokesperson said.
“When a broadcaster files an application to renew their FCC licenses, Congress has tasked the FCC with determining whether the broadcaster has served the public interest. That is exactly what the FCC will do here,” the spokesperson explained.
In its filing, the MRC alleges ABC demonstrated systematic political bias during the 2024 presidential campaign by providing predominantly positive coverage of then-Vice President Kamala Harris while portraying President Donald Trump negatively.
The organization also alleges that ABC programs, including “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The View,” favored Democrat politicians and commentators while limiting appearances by Republicans.
The petition further accuses ABC of minimizing or failing to adequately cover stories involving Hunter Biden’s laptop and allegations surrounding former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen while also alleging the network downplayed or excused instances of political violence.
Among the examples cited, the MRC pointed to comments made by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel following the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, as well as ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos’ on-air statement that Trump had been found liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll.
ABC later agreed to pay $16 million to settle Trump’s defamation lawsuit stemming from those remarks. A New York jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll but not for rape under New York law.
The filing also cites ABC’s coverage of actor Jussie Smollett, alleging the network devoted extensive airtime to Smollett’s claims of being the victim of a hate crime but provided comparatively little coverage after authorities concluded the attack had been staged.
The FCC’s review of ABC’s licenses began amid broader tensions between the network and the Trump administration. Carr initiated the process a year ahead of schedule, citing ABC’s alleged lack of cooperation with an FCC investigation into Disney’s diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.
The license renewal proceedings remain pending before the commission.

Trump Admin Readies $500 Million for Beef Plants

The Trump administration is moving to shore up smaller U.S. beef processors with a planned $500 million aid package as tight cattle supplies continue to push beef prices to record highs.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is preparing to provide up to $500 million in payments to small- and medium-sized meatpacking companies, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the discussions.
The proposed funding would be directed to qualifying beef plants that maintain certain processing volumes, giving independent slaughterhouses a financial cushion as many face steep losses from historically high cattle costs.
Industry estimates show meat processors are losing about $300 per head of cattle, highlighting the financial pressure facing smaller operators.
The four largest U.S. beef processors (Tyson Foods, JBS, Cargill and National Beef, which is owned by Brazil-based MBRF Global Foods)ย would not be eligible for the payments.
Together, those companies process about 85% of the nation’s beef.
The planned assistance is the latest step by President Donald Trump to address soaring beef prices that have strained American families and businesses.
Trump has directed senior advisers to develop options for easing costs while strengthening the domestic beef industry.
At the same time, the administration is taking a tougher look at the industry’s biggest players.
The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the nation’s largest meatpackers as officials examine whether anticompetitive conduct has played a role in keeping beef prices elevated….
Trump Says Birthright Citizenship Ruling โToo Badโ but Lays Out Pathway Forward Through Congress

The president took to Truth Social to call the ruling โtoo badโ for America but noted that it makes clear the Congressional route by which birthright citizenship can be ended.
โThe Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process,โ Trump wrote. โNo long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary!โ
โCongress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship. They will have my Complete and Total Support!โ he added.
The president weighed in on other key cases that broke in Republicansโ favor.
Trump lauded the Courtโs decision in West Virginia v. B.P.J., which affirms that states have the right to ban biological boys and men from competing in girlsโ and womenโs sports.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote the opinion for the 6-3 majority, in which he and the other five justices in the majority find that Title IX allows for schools to have separate teams defined by biological sex….
Mollie Hemingway: SCOTUSโ Birthplace Citizenship Decision Is โDevastating For The Futureโ Of America
The Supreme Court’s birthplace citizenship decision — which effectively greenlights birth tourism for foreign nationals — is a “devastatingly bad decision for the future of the country,” Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway said on Fox Newsโ โOutnumbered.โ
“This decision that John Roberts authored is bad on the level of Dred Scott or Roe v. Wade. It’s that bad.”
Heartbroken father blasts โbrokenโ system that let family massacre take his children before they could reunite

A father is grieving the loss of his four young children following an alleged murder-suicide poisoning plot.
Speaking with Fox News Digital, the children’s father, Brady Harmon, said nothing could have prepared him for the shocking and devastating news. He said, “There is no preparation. It’s horrendous.”
The children’s grandmother is suspected of poisoning the four children and their mother before taking her own life in Mechanicville, New York, police said during a Thursday news conference.
“There is recovered evidence inside the apartment that indicates intentional poisoning with numerous prescriptions and over-the-counter medication,” said Mechanicville Police Chief William Rabbitt.
He added that during an autopsy examination it was discovered that one of the child victims may have “suffered fatal sharp force injuries.”
Investigators made their grim discovery during a welfare check at the home on Tuesday, June 23.
MPD named those found dead:
- Amy Steadman, 64
- Sarah Myers, 44
- Harper Harmon, 13
- Hudson Harmon, 11
- Gavin Harmon, 10
- Gracelynn Harmon, 10
During the news conference, police named Steadman as the children’s grandmother. Rabbitt said investigators found a “handwritten note” that may link her to the deaths.
Before the young victims were found dead, Harmon, who lives in Utah, told Fox News Digital he was planning on taking his children back to Utah with him for the summer. He never had the chance.
He was fighting an ongoing custody battle with the children’s mother, Myers, he said.
He also told Fox News Digital he had concerns about the children’s safety and well-being before the tragedy.
His worst fears became realized.
“The system is broken, it takes way too long to get anything done. I spent six and a half years fighting to be able to have access to my kids,” he said….
Appeals court revives lawsuit by Alaska Airlines flight attendants fired after opposing Pride message
“The Ninth Circuitโs decision today reinforces that federal civil rights laws protect people of faith from discrimination by their employer or their union,” Taub added. “You cannot be fired because your employer does not like your religious beliefs.”
In early 2021, Alaska Airlines said it would support the proposed Equality Act on an online internal employee network.
The Equality Act, which was introduced by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., sought to add sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes in employment, housing, and other capacities under federal civil rights law.
It passed the House in February 2021.
The airline asked employees to comment in an online forum for employees, and Smith asked a question, writing, “As a company, do you think itโs possible to regulate morality?”

In the same forum, Brown shared a comment conveying her sincere religious beliefs that the Equality Act would adversely affect women, girls, and people of faith.
Following their comments on the online forum, Smith and Brown were investigated and fired from their jobs, with Alaska Airlines saying that the comments from Smith and Brown were “discriminatory,” “hateful” and “offensive.”…

WATCH: Fights break out at Russian gas stations as Putin admits fuel shortages

Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly acknowledged that Ukrainian long-range strikes are creating fuel supply problems inside Russia, as videos obtained by Fox News Digital show long lines, angry motorists and fights erupting at filling stations across several Russian regions.
Speaking at a meeting with government ministers and other officials after a wave of Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, Putin said on Sunday that strikes on “critical infrastructure” and energy facilities were creating “problems,” including shortages affecting motorists, businesses and agricultural producers, but said Russia was dealing with them, according to Reuters.
The remarks marked a rare admission from the Kremlin that Ukraineโs long-range campaign is having an impact beyond the battlefield.
For Ukraine, the fuel crisis is evidence that its long-range strike campaign is doing more than damaging individual facilities.
The attacks are forcing Moscow to manage visible problems at home, exposing a vulnerability in a country whose global power has long rested on its energy sector. ..
