DOJ to begin turning over Epstein docs to Oversight panel Friday: Comer
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced Monday it expects to begin receiving files related to Jeffrey Epstein from the Department of Justice (DOJ) by the end of the week.
“Officials with the Department of Justice have informed us that the Department will begin to provide Epstein-related records to the Oversight Committee this week on Friday. There are many records in DOJ’s custody, and it will take the Department time to produce all the records and ensure the identification of victims and any child sexual abuse material are redacted,” Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said in a statement.
“I appreciate the Trump Administration’s commitment to transparency and efforts to provide the American people with information about this matter.”
The plans spurred pushback from the panel’s Democrats, who said the DOJ was failing to fully comply by not meeting the original deadline and supplying all documents.
The panel, on a bipartisan basis, subpoenaed the Justice Department for files related to the deceased financier who was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges when he died by suicide.
The motion last month from Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.) called for the “full, complete, unredacted Epstein files to be delivered concurrently to the majority and minority.”
Comer’s announcement Monday came the same day that former Attorney General Bill Barr was deposed by the Oversight panel on the Epstein matter, the first in a series of scheduled interviews.
Rep. Robert Garcia (Calif.), the top Democrat on the panel, said after the deposition that Democrats would require all requested records from the DOJ.
“The most critical thing the House Oversight Committee needs for its investigation is the full, complete, and unredacted Epstein files, as well as any ‘client list,’” he said.
“The bipartisan Oversight Committee subpoena requires these documents by tomorrow, and if the committee does not receive the files, it will be clear the Trump Epstein Coverup continues.”….
Arizona Chamber praises new interstate natural gas pipeline
The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry is excited about the future, thanks to a deal between state utilities and Transwestern Pipeline Co.
The company will build a new interstate natural gas pipeline from west Texas into Arizona.
Danny Seiden, president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber, told The Center Square that Arizona’s economy will benefit in areas such as construction and labor costs.
“More importantly, more natural gas coming into our state for generation purposes is a huge win for a state that is growing like ours,” said Seiden.
Gas is less expensive than alternative forms of energy, according to Seiden. He said it will allow Arizonans to keep air conditioners running for less money and noted manufacturers will keep making goods at a cheaper price.
Still, environmental groups are not happy with pipelines of any kind. The Sierra Club, for example, envisions “a future that is no longer dependent on polluting fossil fuels.” To do that, the organization states on its website that “we must stop the expansion of fracked methane gas and dirty oil,” which are transported via pipelines.
“Building and expanding pipelines will further lock us into a future powered by fossil fuels, instead of the clean energy that is readily available now,” said the Sierra Club.
But Seiden told The Center Square that Arizona is a model state when it comes to balancing environmental impacts with economic growth…..

Putin, Trump, and the Elusive “Peace”
At the August 15 Alaska summit, Vladimir Putin performed as expected. He desperately wants an end to Western sanctions, détente with the U.S., and assurances that the U.S. will not impose a disastrous anti-Russian secondary boycott—and, apparently, some additional Ukrainian territory.
Consequently, Putin, in his media synopsis, talked more about restored friendship with a “neighborly” United States under Trump. He scarcely mentioned Ukraine directly—other than to imply to Westerners that he seeks not merely to annex a foreign country, but to reclaim what he views as a former Soviet province with ancient ties to the Russian people.
Trump did not get his ceasefire with Putin. But he quickly pivoted to remind us that the table is set for a supposedly comprehensive peace without first requiring a temporary cessation of arms.
Trump addressed the media more succinctly and with greater discretion than Putin, appearing more optimistic that the Russian-American hostility was thawing. And he views normalization as a necessary step toward comprehensive peace in the weeks to come.
The left lambasted Trump for speaking politely of Putin and vice versa. There was additional criticism of a Fox interview in which Trump mentioned “land swaps” and for his supposed prior naïveté in believing he could obtain a ceasefire with Putin.
Yet for all the posturing, we have known for some time the general outlines of a peace, how it could come about, and why it has not yet happened.
Ukraine will not join NATO, but will likely be fully armed by the West. Ukraine lacks the power to retake Crimea or the Donbass, but with Western aid, it can preserve most of its territory.
Russia is worn out, but it is not yet ready to give up and may not be even after the envisioned destructive secondary sanctions. Putin will only make peace when his dictatorship feels it has advanced far enough westward (perhaps 100 miles west of the border) to justify to the oligarchy and military his foolhardy invasion and the needless toll of one million Russians dead, wounded, missing, or captured.
No one knows where a hypothetical DMZ line might eventually be drawn. But for now, it depends on which army has the greater wherewithal and momentum to push its enemy backward before there is a general consensus to stop the madness.
These contours of peace can be shaped by promises of trade deals and normalization between Russia and the West. Or, contrarily, they can be realized by threats of tougher sanctions and boycotts, as well as by security guarantees to Ukraine, by near-permanent aid to Ukraine to maintain its quite formidable army and deterrence, or by internal erosion from the war either in Ukraine or Russia…..

Ed Martin: The Russia Hoax Is About to Blow Up, Schiff and Biden’s DOJ Are Next
Ed Martin, the director of the Department of Justice Weaponization Working Group, joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” for an explosive interview about ongoing investigations into government abuse of power.
Martin confirmed that his office is reviewing criminal referrals involving Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), New York Attorney General Letitia James, and matters tied to the Russia hoax and January 6 investigations.
Bartiromo opened by asking Martin to assess “a decade of dirty tricks” against Donald Trump. Martin agreed, saying the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group, launched under Attorney General Pam Bondi, is tasked with uncovering the truth.
“We’ve got more stuff going on, a lot of it we can’t talk about because of the nature of it, but it’s going like crazy,” he revealed.
He credited Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard with declassifying materials tied to the Russia hoax and forwarding them as a criminal referral. “What we have in the Department of Justice now is a Weaponization Working Group and the backing of our leadership to go and find this stuff,” Martin explained. He said his team can trace the origins of the hoax precisely. “We know now the birthday of the Russia hoax. It’s Dec. 8, 2016 where the Obama administration, including Obama, said, ‘Don’t put the truth out; lie, and ask the media to help us,’ and The Washington Post and others jumped right in.”
Martin confirmed allegations go beyond Schiff’s role in pushing false collusion claims. “There’s a referral from Bill Pulte about a mortgage fraud, about Adam Schiff. That’s publicly discussed. His own lawyers have been out there. Now there’s more on Adam Schiff, and all we’re gonna do again is get to the facts of this and use all the tools that we have in our system.” Martin stressed that if wrongdoing is uncovered, Schiff would face accountability.
Martin drew a stark picture of Biden’s Justice Department targeting everyday Americans. “Joe Biden’s Justice Department actively targeted American citizens, Catholics who went to Mass, parents who went to school boards,” he said. “Carter Page was destroyed by the Russia hoax, and we’re sitting around and pretending it’s okay.” …

Alaskan man gifted new motorcycle by Putin during Trump summit
An employee of the Russian embassy in the United States handed the man, Mark Warren, the keys to his new Ural motorcycle in the parking lot of the Anchorage hotel where the Russian delegation was staying.
“I have to say that this is a personal gift from the President of the Russian Federation,” Andrei Ledenev, the embassy employee, told Warren.
The white-haired, bespectacled Warren, who Reuters was unable to contact for comment, was shown hopping aboard his new bike, Ledenev behind him and another man in the sidecar, to take it for a spin.
“It’s night and day,” Warren said. “I like my old one, but this one is obviously much better.”
“I’m speechless, it’s amazing. Thank you very much.”
The unexpected gift by the Russian leader came after reporters with Russian state television Channel 1 met Warren by chance on the streets of Anchorage ahead of the summit.
The reporters stopped to admire Warren’s bike, which is manufactured by Ural, whose original factory was founded in 1941 in what was then Soviet Russia.
Warren told a reporter, Valentin Bogdanov, that he struggled to obtain spare parts for the bike, including a new starter, because the manufacturing plant is “located in Ukraine.”
“So for you, if they resolve this conflict here in Alaska, I mean Putin and Trump, it will be good?” Bogdanov asks Warren.
“Yes, it will be good,” the Alaskan replies.
Ural, which is headquartered in Washington State, says that all of its motorcycles are assembled in Kazakhstan. The company pulled all its production out of Russia after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine……

People Send Money to California Inmate Who Beat Up Alleged Child-Killer Stepmom
Donors in Bakersfield, where details of the horrific child abuse case have been highly publicized, have maxed out the inmate account of Anita Doron at the Kern County jail after she pummeled 27-year-old stepmother Graciela Bustamante on August 8.
Doron told local outlet KBAK what triggered the beatdown, which resulted in a trip to the hospital for Bustamante before she was returned to jail.
“Some of the girls had seen her not taking it too seriously,” Doron said. “She had come back from court, and she was laughing and giggling and stuff, and they were just like, ‘Why, what’s funny?’”
Doron continued, “When you’re faced with someone that’s gross and has no remorse, you kind of don’t want to deal with it because you don’t want to take it to where you want to take it. I would definitely do this again.”
The torture allegations against Bustamante also evoked Doron’s own dark memories of being in foster care, she told the outlet.
Police said that “working in tandem” with her husband, Ray Mata, Jr., 31, also of Bakersfield, Bustamante poured scalding hot water on the child, which “caused ripping of the skin.”….
Man Named Mohamed Mohamed Rapes Unconscious Woman in Front of Nashville Church Before She Dies
According to the Nashville police, the victim is a 34-year-old homeless woman.
A Nashville Fire Department crew saw a man sexually assaulting a woman on a sidewalk in front of the church so they pulled up to the scene to detain the assaulter and help the victim.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where she died.
Per the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department:
A Nashville Fire Department crew (Engine 21) traveling on Nolensville Pike just after 9:30 p.m. enroute to a call saw the sexual assault taking place on a sidewalk in front of the church. They turned around and chirped their siren. As they pulled up to the sidewalk, Mohamed was attempting to pull up the unconscious victim’s pants. The fire crew detained Mohamed, called for police and rendered aid to the victim. MNPD Homicide, Special Victims, and Narcotics detectives responded to the scene.
Surveillance video shows the victim by herself walking unsteadily toward the front steps of the church. She was unable to keep her balance and sat down on a step, appearing to be under the influence of some type of substance. Mohamed approached and sat down beside her. Mohamed made physical contact with the victim as she went in and out of consciousness as she tried to push him away. He ultimately lifted her off the steps, put her on the ground, and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
Mohamed refused to be interviewed after being taken to police headquarters. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $300,000. The investigation is continuing as detectives await information from the Medical Examiner’s Office on the victim’s cause of death. She carried no identification. An attempt is being made to identify her through fingerprints.

Israeli hostages will only be freed ‘when Hamas is confronted and destroyed’ in Gaza, Trump says
President Trump backed Israel’s expansion of the war in Gaza, saying that the remaining 50 hostages can only be freed if Hamas is completely eradicated.
“We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday. “The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be.”
The president’s remarks suggests he approves of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to invade Gaza City to clear out Hamas’ terrorists and pressure the group into agreeing to a cease-fire deal.
Trump also suggested that the US could be directly involved in the conflict beyond serving as mediators at the negotiating table.
“Remember, I was the one who negotiated and got hundreds of hostages freed and released into Israel (and America!),” the president claimed…
