Troubled Staten Island teen accused of decapitating mom’s beau shares gory confession details: sources

The disturbed Staten Island teen accused of killing his mother’s boyfriend allegedly gave a full, gory confession – including that he planned to liquify the body in a blender and flush it down the toilet, starting with the brain, law-enforcement sources said.
Damien Hurstel, 19, allegedly calmly admitted to cops at the NYPD’s 120th precinct that he fatally bludgeoned the 45-year-old sanitation department worker over the head with a meat tenderizer because he wanted to know what it was like to kill someone, sources told The Post.
The alleged spare-no-details confession came after cops took Hurstel, who has a long history of mental illness, into custody Monday evening, according to the sources.
Hurstel allegedly told police the brutal slaying unfolded after he argued with his mother during the morning, prompting her boyfriend – who still has not been publicly identified – to tell him to take a walk to calm down, the sources said.
The agitated Hurstel allegedly returned home to find his mother gone, leading to an altercation that ended with him beating the boyfriend to death with a meat tenderizer, the sources said.
Judge releases Chicago suspects charged with ramming cars into federal agents

The judge over the case of two suspects accused of ramming their vehicles into federal agents in Chicago has released them, ordering the two suspects to appear later in court, despite characterizing their actions as “extremely dangerous and extremely reckless.”
Judge Heather McShain ordered both Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ruiz to be released on Monday ahead of their trial. The two cases have been joined together, however, they were driving separate cars on Saturday when both of them allegedly rammed their cars into the federal agents.
This comes as there has been a push from the Trump administration to crack down on crime and illegal immigration in Chicago, but that has been met with backlash. Residents in Chicago have been attempting to obstruct ICE vehicles in the streets as well as going to and from a Chicago ICE facility.
Martinez was also shot by federal agents during the incident. According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security, “Law enforcement officers were rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars. Agents were unable to move their vehicles and exited the car. One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed US citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds.” ..
Illegal immigrant to serve only 1 year in prison for fatal hit-and-run killing of college student

An illegal immigrant from El Salvador who pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old college student in Columbia, South Carolina, has been sentenced to just one year in prison.
24-year-old Rosali Fernandez-Cruz pleaded guilty to the charge in April.
On April 2 on the University of South Carolina campus, Fernandez-Cruz was making a left turn from Blossom Street onto Assembly Street when he pulled out in front of 21-year-old Nate Baker’s motorcycle, striking him, per The Post and Courier. Baker, a junior business major at the University of South Carolina and originally from Virginia, died from his injuries.
Prosecutors from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said that Fernandez-Crus stopped for a minute after the crash, but fled on foot. He was captured by police around a half-mile away and was cooperative at that point.
Fernandez-Cruz’s sentencing took place on August 11, during which Fernandez-Cruz’s lawyer, Bill G. Yarborough, recommended a one-year sentence for his client. The felony offense carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. However, he was given the minimum of one year due to mitigating factors, attorneys said.
Yarborough said that his client wrote a letter to Baker’s family, apologizing for his role in Baker’s death. The attorney said that the family had written a letter saying that they did not have harsh feelings toward Fernandez-Cruz. “They were extremely Christian in their approach to this.”
Fernandez-Crus began serving his sentence on August 14 and is projected to be released in March 2026, with the judge having credited the 131 days he was in county jail. Three other charges—failure to render aid, failure to yield the right of way and driving without a license – first offense—were dismissed. …
Doctors gave puberty blockers to 9-year-old — despite admitting ‘shoddy’ research: report

Doctors at a gender clinic in California doled out puberty blockers to kids as young as 9 — despite reportedly admitting behind the scenes that some research backing gender-affirming care for children was “shoddy.”
The revelations were laid bare in a trove of emails from top doctors at the University of California San Francisco’s Child and Adolescent Gender Center, which were recently obtained by The Daily Caller as part of a Freedom of Information lawsuit.
The cache of emails from UCSF medical directors, Maddie Deutsch and Stephen Rosenthal, which were among the 2,491 pages of records turned over, included an admission that a 9-year-old child had previously been given puberty blockers.
Deutsch and Rosenthal are co-authors of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health’s Standards of Care version 8, which helps inform clinical practices across the world.
In one email exchange from October 2022, Rosenthal was asked to respond to a request from journalists about reports that an eight-year-old involved in a National Institute of Health study had developed a bone condition after being given puberty blockers.
Rosenthal, who co-founded UCSF’s gender center, apparently fired back — telling those within his organization internally that the youngest participant was actually aged nine.
His response led to the inquiring reporters being told that the notion that an 8-year-old had been given the blockers was “incorrect.”
“There is no such participant in our study,” the email read, according to the outlet.
Separately, another email exchange from May 2022 captured Rosenthal responding to accusations he and a colleague, Dr Diane Ehrensaft, had relied on “shoddy research” in an op-ed they penned for the San Francisco Chronicle. …
Cement Supercapacitors Could Turn the Concrete Around Us into Massive Energy Storage Systems

Scientists from MIT have created a conductive “nanonetwork” inside a unique concrete mixture that could enable everyday structures like walls, sidewalks, and bridges to store and release electrical energy.
It’s perhaps the most ubiquitous man-made material on Earth by weight, but every square foot of it could, with the addition of some extra materials, power the world that it has grown to cover.
Known as e c-cubed (ec3) the electron-conductive carbon concrete is made by adding an ultra-fine paracrystalline form of carbon known as carbon black, with electrolytes and carbon nanoscales.
Not a new technology, MIT reported in 2023 that 45 cubic meters of ec3, roughly the amount of concrete used in a typical basement, could power the whole home, but advancements in materials sciences and manufacturing processes has improved the efficiency by orders of magnitude.
Now, just 5 cubic meters can do the job thanks to an improved electrolyte.
“A key to the sustainability of concrete is the development of ‘multifunctional concrete,’ which integrates functionalities like this energy storage, self-healing, and carbon sequestration,” said Admir Masic, lead author of the new study and associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at MIT.
“Concrete is already the world’s most-used construction material, so why not take advantage of that scale to create other benefits?”
The improved energy density was made possible by a deeper understanding of how the nanocarbon black network inside ec3 functions and interacts with electrolytes. Using focused ion beams for the sequential removal of thin layers of the ec3 material, followed by high-resolution imaging of each slice with a scanning electron microscope.
The team across the EC³ Hub and MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub was able to reconstruct the conductive nanonetwork at the highest resolution yet. This approach allowed the team to discover that the network is essentially a fractal-like “web” that surrounds ec3 pores, which is what allows the electrolyte to infiltrate and for current to flow through the system.
“Understanding how these materials ‘assemble’ themselves at the nanoscale is key to achieving these new functionalities,” adds Masic….
White House debates pulling back pay from furloughed workers

The development comes as President Donald Trump and Republican leadership in the House and Senate seek to increase pressure on Democrats to pass a “clean” continuing resolution to reopen the government.
If the White House acts on OMB’s recommendation, the Trump administration will say Democrats are to blame for as many as 750,000 federal workers being denied retroactive pay due to accusations that the opposition triggered the move by thwarting the CR’s passage.
The memo from OMB Director Russell Vought’s office argues that an amendment made to the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act nine days after the law’s signing changes the interpretation of the back pay protections for furloughed workers, according to Axios.
Rather than workers automatically getting back pay under GEFTA, Congress would have to get involved in funding retroactive salaries, under OMB’s interpretation of the law.
The amendment in question inserted language specifying that furloughed employees be compensated “subject to the enactment of appropriations Acts ending the lapse.” The memo argued that this means Congress needs to appropriate money for affected federal workers specifically.
The Trump administration’s possible reinterpretation of GEFTA wouldn’t affect all federal workers.
Essential workers, or non-furloughed government employees required to report to work without compensation during the government shutdown, would still receive back pay.
Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee dismissed the OMB changes, calling them “baseless.”
Trump Should Prosecute Many, Many More Biden Officials

Joe Biden’s presidency was a multi-trillion dollar criminal conspiracy that shred every “norm,” violated nearly every right, and abused any power it could to punish its political opponents.
The Trump administration’s prosecutions of Team Biden’s abuses of power may be the healthiest development for the rule of law since the end of Jim Crow.
This is a story Republicans should tell with pride — and must tell incessantly, or the next Democrat administration will make Biden’s four years look like Camelot under Arthur.
The seeds of the Biden administration’s weaponization of government were sown while he was still vice president.
Remember, the great “scandal” of President Trump’s first term — that he colluded with Vladimir Putin to rig the 2016 presidential election — was a lie. The Russia Hoax was invented by Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. It only ballooned into a story because partisan Democrats inside the FBI, led by then-Director James Comey, broke precedent, procedure, and the law to launch a criminal investigation — Operation Crossfire Hurricane — that almost derailed a duly elected president for the crime of … being a Republican.
(The real scandal is not that Comey has now been indicted for lying to Congress, but that lying to Congress is the only thing he’s so far been indicted for.)
Fast forward four years. In October 2020, Hunter Biden’s laptop implicated the president’s son — and maybe “the Big Guy” himself — in criminal influence peddling, tax evasion, and much else. Once again, anti-Trump partisans inside the FBI falsely declared the laptop story “misinformation.” Partisan Democrats within the intelligence community, without any evidence, condemned the whole thing as a Russian op.
This backstory is outrageous in its own right. But just as important is the precedent it set for authoritarian-minded Democrats taking office with President Biden in 2021. The positive reinforcement leftists received for their anti-Trump abuses of power from the media, establishment elites, and Deep State bureaucrats incentivized them to push the envelope even further.
This is the context for Joe Biden’s FBI putting a “threat tag” on parents opposing woke extremism at school board meetings in 2021. And targeting traditional Catholics as potential domestic terrorists. And Team Biden’s illegal partnership with Big Tech to censor dissent on social media.
Now we know those were only the weaponization scandals Biden’s cronies couldn’t cover up at the time. Congressional investigations this year are finally revealing what else his people were up to….

Newly Elected German Mayor in Critical Condition After Stabbing

The mayor-elect of the town of Herdecke, North Rhine-Westphalia, Iris Stalzer was found by paramedics in a critical condition on Tuesday before being airlifted to hospital for emergency treatment.
The centre-left SPD local politician, who is a lawyer by trade, was stabbed multiple times in the upper torso but was apparently able to crawl back to her home, from where a call to emergency services was made.
Early reports state that a gang on multiple men were thought to have attacked Stalzer. German newspaper Die Welt now states that Stalzer’s 15-year-old adoptive son was led away by police in handcuffs, and that there may have been an earlier domestic incident involving an adoptive daughter and a knife earlier this year.
It is stated the two teenage adoptive children were the ones who called the emergency services to report an attack.
Police have made no definite statements on suspects, arrests, or motives at the time of publication.
Actors from across the political spectrum, including her own party and the conservative Chancellor Friedrich Merz, refrained from speculating on events or motive but condemned the act of violence in statements on Tuesday.
FBI fires agents, dismantles corruption squad after probe unveils monitoring of GOP senators, Patel says

The FBI has already terminated employees and abolished the CR-15 squad just one day after it was revealed that several Republicans’ private communications and phone calls had been tracked.
FBI Director Kash Patel on Tuesday announced the actions the bureau had taken in response to the revelation of the “baseless monitoring” during the Biden administration and promised more actions to come.
“We are cleaning up a diseased temple three decades in the making — identifying the rot, removing those who weaponized law enforcement for political purposes and those who do not meet the standards of this mission while restoring integrity to the FBI. I promised reform, and I intend to deliver it,” Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
Patel also posted about it on X, saying, “Transparency is important, and accountability is critical. We promised both, and this is what promises kept looks like… We terminated employees, we abolished the weaponized CR-15 squad, and we initiated an ongoing investigation with more accountability measures ahead.”
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino replied to the post and echoed Patel’s message, writing, “We promised you transparency and accountability. We will continue to deliver on those promises. You deserve better.”
The CR-15 squad was the FBI’s Washington Field Office’s public corruption unit. The squad helped former special counsel Jack Smith investigate President Donald Trump, according to NBC News, which cited sources familiar with the matter…
Inside the Plot to Assassinate America’s Top Border Patrol Official

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Tuesday that federal authorities arrested an individual for allegedly trying to place a “hit” on US Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino.
A confidential source told the authorities on October 3, 2025, that a “hit” had been placed on Bovino by a Latin Kings Street Gang member named Juan Espinoza Martinez, according to a press release. Officers arrested the individual on Monday in Burr Ridge, Illinois.
Bovino commented on the development during an appearance on Fox News. “There’s going to be more incidents just like this because it’s a war zone out there,” he said. “Secretary Noem mentioned a bounty on the heads of federal agents, that $2,000 to kidnap, $10,000 to kill senior Border Patrol officials and senior ICE officials here in Chicago.”
The Justice Department is charging Martinez with “murder for hire” under federal law. It identified him as a high-ranking member of the gang, according to court documents. The alleged bounty was retaliation for a police-involved shooting in Chicago that involved Border Patrol agents.
The informant told authorites that Martinez had sent him a Snapchat message including a photo of Bovino with a message which read, “LK [with emojis] on him,” which indicated the Latin Kings were calling for the hit job.
Law enforcement officers corroborated the informant’s information through surveillance, phone and app records, and social media screenshots. The Snapchat message is cited as key evidence of intent. The affidavit stated that the defendant “has offered, on behalf of the Latin Kings in Chicago, Illinois, to other members of the Latin Kings and others, a $2,000 reward for information related to [Bovino] and a $10,000 reward for the murder of [Bovino].”…
