ICE may release nearly half of all detained illegal aliens because of budget issues: ‘Give us more money or else’

Facing an enormous budget shortfall, ICE officials are considering releasing nearly half of all the illegal immigrants in the agency’s custody, several agents told the Washington Post.
The Post spoke to four associates with ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity. These associates shared an internal memo that suggests reducing the number of detainee beds from 38,000 to just 22,000 to help offset a budget shortfall of $700 million, the largest in “recent memory,” the Washington Examiner reported.
While some of those removed from custody would be deported back to their countries of origin, most would be released into the United States, the four officials stated.
Climate protesters learn unforgettable lesson after dumping red powder on Constitution: ‘Determined to foment a rebellion’

In a statement, the National Archives said the physical copy of the Constitution was unharmed.
“The Constitution was unaffected in its encasement. No damage was done to the document itself. The agency’s conservators were onsite within minutes and are conducting a thorough evaluation of the damage to the Rotunda,” the statement said.
Dr. Colleen Shogan, archivist of the United States, said the government intends to prosecute the protesters “to the fullest extend of the law.”
“The National Archives Rotunda is the sanctuary for our nation’s founding documents. They are here for all Americans to view and understand the principles of our nation,” Shogan said. “We take such vandalism very seriously, and we will insist that the perpetrators be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

FDNY HQ, fire chiefs’ homes raided by FBI and NYC investigators in probe over $100K bribes to speed up inspections

The feds searched the homes of Brian Cordasco and Anthony Saccavino, two senior FDNY chiefs in charge of city safety inspections, as part of a corruption probe into whether they inappropriately accepted payments, according to the sources.
The inquiry began last summer into allegations the chiefs had each been paid $100,000 to expedite or set up inspections, according to the New York Times, which was first to report on the raids.
The chiefs, who have not been charged with any wrongdoing, had their phones seized when federal agents came knocking, fire sources said.
Meanwhile, the fourth floor of FDNY HQ — home to the fire prevention office — was closed off and investigators were in the process of removing records and computers, the sources adde

When asked whether he had any concerns about violence breaking out at the parade prior to attending, Gooch said he and his family had “talked about it,” but figured they were safe because it was “just a bunch of happy people.”
“About 15 minutes before it actually did happen, I got suspicious of a certain group of people who were there,” he noted, “and right before it ended up happening there was this group dressed in all black … looked like kids.”

Capitol Police arrest pro-Palestinian demonstrators inside Cannon House Office Building

The U.S. Capitol Police arrested numerous pro-Palestinian demonstrators Thursday who had staged a die-in alongside a banner with the message “ceasefire now” inside the rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building.
One officer could be heard giving more than a dozen of the protesters a “final warning” through a megaphone as they dropped roses onto the banner and laid on the floor of the building in Capitol Hill.
“Alright folks, you are demonstrating in an area not permitted to do so. This will be your final warning,” the officer said. “If you do not wish to be arrested, you will need to exit the building through those doors . . . . This is your third and final warning.”

Former Director Gina Haspel Hid The CIA’s Role In Russiagate For Years

The FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago last summer might have been a plot to protect deep state intelligence officials, according to sources who spoke with a team of independent journalists this week.
On Wednesday, journalists Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Alex Gutentag published part 2 of an expose on the role of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in orchestrating the years-long crusade to frame former President Donald Trump as a Russian plant. The article posted on Shellenberger’s Substack, Public, outlined how intelligence officials fretted over the presence of a classified “binder” in Trump’s possession that former CIA Director Gina Haspel had guarded for years.
“Transgressions range from Justice Department surveillance of domestic political targets without probable cause to the improper unmasking of a pre-election conversation between a Trump official and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to WMD-style manipulation of intelligence for public reports on alleged Russian ‘influence activities,’” Public reported.
One unnamed source cited as “knowledgeable about the case” called the binder “Trump’s insurance policy.” Trump was apparently “very concerned about having it and taking it with him because it was his road map” of the Russian collusion hoax.

Congressional Report: Washington Drowned Americans In A Sea Of Red Ink

If you think our current fiscal situation, with $2 trillion deficits, looks bleak, the recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) outlook for the years ahead has news for you: You ain’t seen nothing yet.
As it has for many years, the document shows a fiscal situation slowly spiraling out of control. And while some have tried to put a positive spin on things by claiming the situation is “better” (really just slightly less bad) than last year, Congress is soon poised to make the situation worse by passing yet another spending blowout in the weeks ahead.
Why the persistently high deficits? Two major reasons lie in the Covid spending binge. That pandemic spending 1) increased our overall debt and 2) forced the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates to combat the inflation all this spending wrought. A CBO chart makes clear the dramatic increase in federal deficits over the last few years, along with the record-high amounts we are projected to spend on interest rates in the coming decade:
IG: Biden’s HHS Struggled to Vet Adults Housing Migrant Children

The report comes as President Joe Biden is facing intense pressure around his immigration policies. Since he took office, the administration has grappled with millions of migrants traveling to the border and faced scrutiny over how it handles children who arrive in the U.S. without parents.
HHS, in particular, has been criticized for releasing those kids too quickly from government shelters, discharging them to adults who have allowed them to be exploited by major companies for cheap, dangerous, and illegal labor.
The federal watchdog analyzed the case files of more than 300 migrant children from early 2021, months after thousands of children had trekked to the U.S. border seeking asylum. In March and April of that year, HHS placed more than 16,000 children with adults.
Russia, Ukraine Exchange Long-Range Missiles After Deadly Strike on Belgorod

A missile strike on the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukraine border Thursday killed six people, including a child, and injured 18 others, a Russian official said. It was the latest in exchanges of long-range missile and rocket fire in Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Frequent Russian long-range bombardments are occurring as the almost two-year war has become bogged down in mostly trench and artillery warfare, which is destructive but is not bringing much change to the 1,500-kilometer (930-mile) front line.
Thursday’s salvos on Ukraine were notable for the geographic spread of its targets and the wide variety of missiles deployed by the Kremlin’s forces.
Ukraine has also struck targets in Russian territory deep behind the front line. A fire broke out at an oil depot in Russia’s Kursk region after an attack by a Ukrainian drone, Starovoit, the governor, said Thursday. There were no casualties, he said.
House GOP Eager to Grill Special Counsel on Biden

Attorney General Merrick Garland told the “60 Minutes” in October that “usually, the special counsels have testified at the end of their reports.”
Axios reported that the meeting could potentially bring more bad news for Biden after he aggressively and angrily responded to the accusations about memory lapses.
In a letter, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith, R-Mo., demanded that by Feb. 19, the Department of Justice turn over any transcripts, video, or audio of the Hur investigation, Axios reported.
Separately, House Republicans are preparing to call Hur to testify in March, likely before the House Judiciary Committee, with one unnamed source telling Axios: “Someone might ask him if Biden is unfit to lead. Give him a chance to frame it.”

Filter added, “I don’t know if I knocked him out when I tackled him or what, but I had him squeezed so hard he might have been passed out all the time for all I know. I just started racking him in his ribs.”
He summed up his actions by saying he was doing “America stuff.”
