Feds seeking death penalty for Zizian cult member who murdered Vermont border patrol agent
The Justice Department said Thursday it will seek the death penalty against a member of the cultlike Zizians group accused of killing a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Vermont in the latest Trump administration push for more federal executions.
Teresa Youngblut, 21, of Washington state, is among a group of radical computer scientists focused on veganism, gender identity and artificial intelligence who have been linked to six killings in three states.
She’s accused of fatally shooting agent David Maland on Jan. 20, the same day President Donald Trump was inaugurated and signed a sweeping executive order lifting the moratorium on federal executions.
Youngblut initially was charged with using a deadly weapon against law enforcement and discharging a firearm during an assault with a deadly weapon.
But the Trump administration signaled early on that more serious charges were coming, and a new indictment released Thursday charged her with murder of a federal law enforcement agent and other crimes.
In February, Attorney General Pam Bondi mentioned Maland as an example when saying she expects federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in cases involving the murder of law enforcement officers.
And Youngblut’s attorneys recently said they had been given a July 28 deadline to offer preliminary evidence about why she should be spared such a punishment. They asked a judge last month to delay that deadline until January, but the judge declined.
At the time of the shooting, authorities had been watching Youngblut and her companion, Felix Bauckholt, for several days after a Vermont hotel employee reported seeing them carrying guns and wearing black tactical gear. She’s accused of opening fire on border agents who pulled the car over on Interstate 91. An agent fired back, killing Bauckholt and wounding Youngblut.
The pair were among the followers of Jack LaSota, a transgender woman also known as Ziz whose online writing attracted young, highly intelligent computer scientists who shared anarchist beliefs.
Members of the group have been tied to the death of one of their own during an attack on a California landlord in 2022, the landlord’s subsequent killing earlier this year, and the deaths of one of the members’ parents in Pennsylvania…..
Trump touts removal of roughly 275,000 illegals from Social Security
President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that his administration had removed almost 275,000 illegal aliens from Social Security
“We’ve already kicked nearly 275,000 illegal aliens off of the Social Security system. These are people, many of them have already left the country, and yet we were sending them checks all the time,” Trump said in an announcement.
“And what that’s doing is making the system strong,” he added. “We’ve cleared 12.4 million names listed in the Social Security database over 120 years of age.”
Trump noted that his “One Big, Beautiful Bill” had eliminated tax on Social Security income and insisted that his efforts to remove illegal aliens from the system was part of an effort necessary to strengthen the benefits system.
Feds arrest illegals outside Newsom presser
Federal agents on Thursday made arrests in California outside of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s, D-Calif., press conference.
Newsom held an event to address his state’s redistricting effort in response to Republicans in Texas moving to redraw their district lines. Border Patrol were filmed arresting illegal aliens outside the event.
“We’re here making Los Angeles a safer place, since we don’t have politicians who will do that, we do that ourselves,” Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino told Fox LA. “We’re gonna continue to do that and that can take that one to the bank in cash.”
The arrests come as Newsom continues to protest the federal law enforcement presence in Los Angeles. The city saw the National Guard deployed this year to quell anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) riots in the city.

The latest example is LA Councilmember Curren Price, who has now racked up even more corruption charges… This time, he’s accused of steering multimillion-dollar contracts that conveniently funneled over $800,000 straight into his wife’s bank account.
This is California politics in a nutshell: a cesspool of fraud, embezzlement, and pay-to-play corruption. The state is drowning in crime, homelessness, drugs, and sky-high costs of living, but the political class keeps cashing in like it’s the lottery. For regular people, Los Angeles is unlivable. For Democrats like Price, it’s a goldmine.
More than two years after he was accused of embezzlement and perjury, Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price faced two additional public corruption charges, the LA County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
The DA’s office said it uncovered evidence that LA’s housing authority and LA Metro paid Price’s wife more than $800,000 when the councilmember voted to award the agency’s multimillion-dollar contract.
The initial criminal complaint against Price in 2023 also alleged Price had financial interests in projects he voted on and had the city pay for medical benefits for his now-wife, Del Richardson-Price, while he was still married to another woman. He pleaded not guilty to the previous charges.
Price is expected to be arraigned on the new charges Thursday in downtown Los Angeles.
If convicted as charged, he would face up to 11 years and four months in custody, including up to nine years and four months in state prison and up to two years in county jail, according to the DA’s office.
“Embezzling public funds and awarding contracts for your own financial gain is the antithesis of public service,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “Self-dealing and pay-to-play politics will not be tolerated in Los Angeles County.”

Grand Canyon fire now 54% contained; 144,432 acres burned
America’s largest active wildfire is now 54% contained, according to a report on a U.S. government website.
Containment of the Dragon Bravo Fire in Arizona rose from the 44% figure reported on Wednesday on the interagency website InciWeb. The blaze, which is occurring on the Grand Canyon’s North Rim, has burned an estimated 144,432 acres.
This fire started on July 4 because of a lightning strike. Currently 1,125 firefighters are battling it.
There is no estimate for when the Grand Canyon National Park fire will be 100% contained, said Mike Johnson, the public information officer for the unified, interagency response.
To contain the fire, firefighters are establishing a line around it, Johnson told The Center Square. He added that firefighters are using heavy equipment to move shrubbery and aircraft to bring water to hotspots.
Putting out a fire of this magnitude and getting it to completely stop “is a really difficult endeavor,” Johnson said.
He noted the size of the Dragon Bravo Fire makes it hard to get to every hotspot, making containment that much more critical.
“ What we’ve really got to do is secure the perimeter,” he explained. “And then wait for nature to take its course, wait for cooling rains to come in, and then keep crews on it for a long time to watch, make sure nothing gets out of there.”….

Perseid meteor shower 2025 outshines moon to put on a spectacular show (photos)
The Perseid meteor shower peaked on Aug 12–13, overcoming the glare of a waning gibbous moon to put on a spectacular show of shooting stars that delighted onlookers worldwide.
The Perseids are active every July and August as Earth barrels through the trail of dusty debris shed by the wandering comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle.
Our planet plowed through the densest part of the comet’s trail on Aug. 12-13, when countless cometary shards collided with Earth, burning up in spectacular fashion as they were overcome by the friction of atmospheric entry.
In previous years, the Perseids have produced between 50 to 100 meteors per hour at their peak, with shooting stars emanating from a point of origin known as a radiant located in the constellation Perseus.
Unfortunately, the 2025 Perseids happened to coincide with the appearance of a waxing gibbous moon, which bleached the sky with moonlight, blotting out all but the brightest members of the ancient meteor shower.
Thankfully, there were still plenty of bright meteors to be seen, which outshone the moon to dazzle stargazers and provide a mesmerizing target for the astronomical community, who captured the shooting stars against a backdrop of aurora and framed spectacular landscapes….

Man Charged with Felony For Throwing Sandwich at Federal Agent Identified as DOJ LAWYER – Immediately Fired From Position: Bondi
The man charged for throwing a Subway sandwich at a federal agent in DC worked for the DOJ as a lawyer and has been promptly fired.
A man in a salmon-colored t-shirt was caught on video throwing a sandwich at a federal officer in DC earlier this week after President Trump deployed the National Guard to patrol the streets.
The sandwich thrower was identified as 37-year-old Sean Charles Dunn, a DOJ trial attorney.
“If you touch any law enforcement officer, we will come after you. I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony. This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ. You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said.
Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, also said the man arrested for throwing the sandwich at agents was a DOJ contractor and has been immediately fired.
“The man in the salmon colored shirt with the effete gesture there of throwing a Subway sandwich is, was a DOJ contractor. He is no longer,” Harmeet Dhillon said on the Benny Johnson show.
EXCLUSIVE: Pentagon Terminates Security Clearance Of Russia Collusion Hoaxer Susan Miller
Susan Miller, the retired CIA spook who lied about her leadership role in the intelligence report that lit the fuse on the Russia collusion hoax bomb, has been stripped of her security clearance, according to two Trump administration officials familiar with the matter.
Miller, who served as a senior Central Intelligence Agency Officer, has long boasted about her “full clearance,” particularly while attacking President Donald Trump and his top intelligence officers for shining a light on one of the biggest political scandals in U.S. history.
That clearance has now been terminated, the administration officials told The Federalist.
“This woman totally shouldn’t hold a high level security clearance after pushing the Russia Hoax. All she did was lie to the American people to hurt Trump,” a senior Defense official said of Miller…..
Miller has made the corporate media rounds of late, attempting to undercut reams of declassified documents exposing the Obama White House and Miller’s former intelligence community bosses for manufacturing the bogus 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment that falsely claimed Russia interfered with the 2016 presidential election with the purpose of electing Donald Trump.
Internal communications at the time show career agents warning then-CIA Director John Brennan and then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper that the “intelligence” used to go after Trump was bad and failed to measure up to CIA intelligence-gathering standards.
The usual suspects in the corporate media were along for the ride. As The Federalist reported earlier this month, several media outlets attempted to exploit the former CIA spook’s credentials to diminish the declassified documents and accounts of whistleblowers.
They and Miller lied about her involvement in the ICA, describing her as “an author of the agency’s 2017 intelligence report on Russian meddling.” On a left-wing podcast earlier this summer, Miller claimed she “headed up the report team” that compiled the error-ridden intelligence assessment. She did not, senior intelligence sources told real journalist Matt Taibbi and the Racket News…..
