Social Security loses billions of dollars yearly by failing to implement years-old legislation, lawmakers say

The SSA manages over $1 trillion in payments to around 70 million people every year.
“With a program this size, getting even a small number of payments wrong, whether overpaying or underpaying, can result in billions of dollars of improper payments,” committee lawmakers wrote in the letter. “It is therefore imperative that the SSA fully utilize the authorities granted by Congress to limit improper payments before they occur.”
The Office of the Inspector General for the SSA found that in fiscal year 2021 the SSA failed to recover $20 billion in overpayments.
$4 billion were able to be recovered. Of that $24 billion, the Disability, Old-Age and Survivors, and Supplemental Security Insurance programs saw $6 billion lost to overpayments.
Nearly 165,000 apprehended at southern border in July

This includes 137,593 apprehensions and 27,160 gotaways. “Gotaways” is the official U.S. Customs and Border Protection term that refers to the number of people who are known and reported to illegally enter the U.S. between ports of entry who intentionally try to evade capture and don’t return to Mexico.
In July, the most gotaways were reported in El Paso and Tucson sectors, as they have been nearly every month this year.
CBP doesn’t publicly report gotaway data.
The data was obtained by The Center Square from a U.S. Border Patrol agent who provided it on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation.
It only includes Border Patrol data and excludes Office of Field Operations data. Total numbers are higher once OFO data is included.
The numbers are significantly lower than previous months because the Biden administration is shifting illegal entry to the ports of entry, former acting CBP Chief and former Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan told The Center Square.

‘It’s actually not’: CBS reporter smacks down Dem lawmaker for trying to deceive on what Devon Archer actually testified

After Archer testified on Monday, Goldman told reporters that Archer’s testimony exonerated President Joe Biden from allegations of corruption.
In one instance, Goldman claimed that Archer, a former close friend and business associate of Hunter Biden’s, testified that Hunter would sell the “illusion of access” to business partners to close deals.
But on Thursday, the transcript of Archer’s testimony was released — and it showed that Goldman, not Archer, used that phrase.
“In fact, when you look at the transcript, what you see is that phrase ‘illusion of access’ is in Dan Goldman’s question,” Herridge reported on CBS. “It’s actually not what Devon Archer testified to.”

US expands curfews for asylum-seeking families to 13 cities as an alternative to detention

The curfews began in May in four cities and, on Friday, grow to 13 locations, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials told advocates. The additions are Boston, Providence, Rhode Island, and San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose in California. New Orleans and Houston started July 28.
The number of cities is expected to reach 40 by the end of September, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The curfews, which run from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. are designed to stay in effect until the outcome of screenings, known as “credible fear” interviews, by asylum officers and any appeal to an immigration judge.
Those who pass are generally allowed to pursue their asylum cases in court without a curfew, while those who fail are supposed to be deported.
FDA Officials Were Counting ‘Likes’ on Viral ‘Horse Paste’ Social Media Posts — While They Denied Lifesaving Treatments to Dying Patients

As reported by Vice:
“In internal emails, supervisors with the agency’s public affairs office congratulated the author of the tweet for their ‘clever (humorous)’ approach … The tweet was authored by Brad Kimberly, the director of social media for the agency’s Office of External Affairs.
“He noted in emails that the tweet quickly became the second most popular in the agency’s history, just after a significantly less humorous one back when the agency recommended a temporary pause on administering Johnson and Johnson vaccines due to reports of rare but serious blood clots.
Instead of doing everything they could to save lives, they pushed what we then suspected and now know was a useless “vaccine” that doesn’t prevent infection, doesn’t prevent the spread and makes you more prone to infection, hospitalization and death over time and with additional doses.
EPA Approved a Fuel Ingredient Even Though It Could Cause Cancer in Virtually Every Person Exposed Over a Lifetime

The Environmental Protection Agency approved a component of boat fuel made from discarded plastic that the agency’s own risk formula determined was so hazardous, everyone exposed to the substance continually over a lifetime would be expected to develop cancer.
Current and former EPA scientists said that threat level is unheard of.
It is a million times higher than what the agency usually considers acceptable for new chemicals and six times worse than the risk of lung cancer from a lifetime of smoking.
‘He Was A Threat’: Devon Archer Says Ukrainian Prosecutor Joe Biden Got Fired Was Going After Burisma’s Business

Hunter Biden’s former business associate Devon Archer explained to Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson on Friday how the Ukrainian prosecutor whom then-Vice President Joe Biden got fired was a threat to Ukrainian energy firm Burisma’s business.
Carlson and Archer spoke about the threat former Ukrainian Prosecutor General (PGO) Viktor Shokin posed to Burisma’s business at the time when then-VP Joe Biden was handling Ukraine for the Obama administration and Archer sat on Burisma’s board with Hunter Biden.
US INTELLIGENCE HAS BEEN MANIPULATING WIKIPEDIA FOR OVER A DECADE: WIKI CO-FOUNDER

The site’s co-creator Larry Sanger spoke to journalist Glenn Greenwald on his “System Update” podcast, and outlined the known “information warfare” efforts of US intelligence, which have to some extend make Wikipedia a tool of “control” by the left-liberal Washington deep state.
Sanger asserted during Greenwald’s show, “We do have evidence that, as early as 2008, that CIA and FBI computers were used to edit Wikipedia,” before posing: “Do you think that they stopped doing that back then?”
Sanger explained that the intelligence agencies “pay off the most influential people to push their agendas, which they’re already mostly in line with, or they just develop their own talent within the community, learn the Wikipedia game, and then push what they want to say with their own people.”
2 U.S. Navy sailors arrested on charges of sharing sensitive data with China

Both 22-year-old sailor Jinchao Wei and Petty Officer Wenheng Zhao, 26, are accused in separate cases of sharing military information to Chinese intelligence officials in exchange for cash payments. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges they face.
Wei was arrested Wednesday as he arrived for work at Naval Base San Diego on espionage charges, per a Department of Justice statement.
He is accused of conspiring to send national defense information to an intelligence officer working for China in exchange for thousands of dollars, the DOJ said.
Petty Officer Wenheng Zhao, 26, who worked at California’s Naval Base Ventura County in Port Hueneme, was charged with receiving bribes.
He is accused of taking $14,866 in exchange for “photographs and videos of military exercise plans, operational orders and electrical systems at a naval installation,” Matt Olsen, assistant attorney general of the DOJ’s National Security Division, said at a press conference Thursday.

Text messages given to FBI: Chinese wanted Biden family name to help acquire U.S. energy assets

Text messages provided to the FBI show that a Chinese energy conglomerate that struck a controversial deal in 2017 with Hunter Biden began its pursuit of a relationship with the future first family back in late 2015 when Joe Biden was still vice president, hoping to seize on the name of one of America’s most famous political dynasties to provide cover for its ambitious plan to buy up energy assets inside the United States.
“There will be a deal between one of the most prominent families from US and them (China) constructed by me,” Hunter Biden’s business partner James Gilliar texted future partner Tony Bobulinski on Christmas Eve 2015, shortly after Hunter Biden had been alerted to CEFC China Energy’s overture and its wealthy leader Ye Jianming.
“I think this will then be a great addition to their portfolios as it will give them a profile base in NYC, then LA, etc,” Gilliar added in the text message obtained by Just the News. “For me it’s a no brainer but culturally they are different, but smart so let’s see. … Any entry ticket is small for them. Easier and better demographic than Arabs who are little anti US after trump,” Gilliar wrote.

Journalists Identify Almost 30,000 Russian Military Members Killed In Ukraine

Journalists from the BBC and Mediazona have identified the names of 29,217 Russian military members killed in Ukraine since February 2022.
At least 870 of them died after the Ukrainian counteroffensive began in the spring of 2023.
The researchers said that the real number of dead could be at least twice as high.
The journalists used open sources, messages, and statements from officials, media, and notifications published by close relatives in their research.
The names include several senior Russian Army officials, including two generals, 10 colonels, eight lieutenant colonels, 14 majors, and a lieutenant general, one of the highest ranks in the Russian Army.
Rights Watchdog Calls For Probe Of Deadly Attack On Ukrainian Town Citing Evidence Of Cluster Munitions

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called for an investigation into an attack last month on the Ukrainian town of Lyman that killed nine people and injured a dozen others, saying the apparent use of cluster munitions in the attack make it a possible war crime.
The attack on July 8 hit a residential district of Lyman in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, which has been the scene of heavy fighting since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
“This attack, if confirmed, once again demonstrates the Russian army’s contempt for civilians and the international legal restraints of war, as well as the deadly and indiscriminate nature of the weapons,” Ida Sawyer, crisis and conflict director at HRW, said in a statement on August 4.
HRW said it conducted interviews with people who were at the scene, including an explosive ordnance expert who analyzed remnants of the weapon used and medics who treated the victims. It also analyzed and verified 32 photos and videos posted online that were taken during and after the attack.
HRW used this evidence to determine that the attack was carried out with a Smerch cluster munition rocket containing “fragmentation submunitions.” It said the attack should be investigated as a war crime.
EXCLUSIVE: Lindsay Shiver ‘sent photos of her ex-NFL player husband Robert Shiver to Bahamas ‘hitman’ Faron Newbold along with message reading ‘kill him’

Georgia housewife Lindsay Shiver is alleged to have sent photos of her ex-football player husband to a Bahamas hitman – along with a message reading: ‘kill him,’ DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.
The former cheerleader, 36, has spent the past two weeks locked up in a grim Nassau prison after cops uncovered evidence of a ‘murder-for-hire’ plot to target her wealthy husband Robert Shiver, 38.
Shiver is accused of conspiring with her barman lover Terrance Adrien Bethel, 28, to enlist Faron Newbold, 29 – alias Faylo – for the hit on former Auburn standout Robert, who is now safely back in Thomasville, Georgia with the couple’s three young sons.
According to documents seen by DailyMail.com, the petite blonde broke down during her police interview and allegedly confessed to sending photos and messages to Newbold, instructing him to murder her husband of 13 years.
Russian military unimpressed by captured Swedish armor

The donated armor also lacked spare parts and tools for field repair, but did have a kit to indicate an emergency stop, Mordvichev told the minister.
The CV90 is quite tall, making it a relatively easy target, and its main weapon has a relatively low rate of fire because of its reloading mechanism, according to the Russian military.
The vehicle captured by the Russian troops appears to be armed with the Bofors 40/70 autocannon.
It fires 40mm cartridges, which are fed through a magazine that has three separate compartments for three different ammunition types, with total capacity of 24 rounds. The magazine is loaded manually.
China deepens military ties with Russia for ‘non-Western’ front

Russia is not the only partner China has been focusing on. Defense Minister Gen. Li Shangfu met on July 25 with the head of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar, in Beijing, where the two sides affirmed their cooperation on joint air exercises and equipment. Li called the two countries “ironclad friends.”
Both China and Pakistan are embroiled in territorial disputes with neighboring India, which reached an agreement with the U.S. in a June summit to partner on fighter jet engine production.
A closer military relationship between Washington and New Delhi would be in neither Beijing’s nor Islamabad’s interest.
The basic strategy behind China’s military diplomacy is to bring together non-Western countries that are distant from the Group of Seven, as a counterweight to the pro-U.S. camp.
This includes Southeast Asian countries that are friendly with Beijing, such as Cambodia, which held joint exercises with China in March and April, and Laos, which did so in May.
At least 3 killed amid heavy rains, floods in Slovenia and Austria

The Slovenian environmental agency issued a “red alert” – the highest alert – after a month’s amount of rain fell within 24 hours in the capital Ljubljana, along with Maribor and Celje.
“Three people have died over the last 24 hours in weather-related incidents,” police spokeswoman Maja Adlesic told AFP.
The Dutch officials also confirmed the deaths but not the cause. According to the country’s meteorologists, heavy rains will continue for at least the next 24 hours.
Officials in Slovenia, on Friday, also warned of more floods in other areas because of swiftly swelling rivers.
Navalny: Russia opposition leader gets 19 more years in jail

The Kremlin’s most prominent critic, Alexei Navalny, was jailed for 19 additional years Friday after being convicted of extremism in a closed-door trial that his supporters called a sham to keep him locked up and out of Russian politics.
The 47-year-old is already serving a nearly 12-year sentence for fraud, contempt of court and other charges.
On Friday, Navalny was found guilty of founding and financing an extremist organization and trivializing Nazism.
The charges relate to his role in his now-defunct political movement inside Russia, which the authorities said had been trying to foment a revolution by seeking to destabilize social and political organizations.
Russian prosecutors had requested a 20-year sentence.

Farage Tells Breitbart we are on the Verge of Banks Running ‘Word Checks’ on Customers Social Media

Having a bank account is essential to exist in the modern Western world and yet moves to further debank the public if they hold views that don’t align with the prevailing elite view are developing, Brexit leader turned anti-woke capitalism campaigner Nigel Farage told Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM Patriot Friday morning.
Far from merely being institutions which serve an important role in society by taking deposits then making loans — and making some profit by doing so — banks have now become “highly politically active”, Mr Farage warned.
This is a campaign he has taken up to increasing effect in the United Kingdom after he was debanked for not aligning with his bank’s newfound left-wing values.
This will be part of a growing trend if it isn’t nipped in the bud now, Farage warned, revealing even more intrusive steps to ensure those with conservative opinions can’t pay bills or make purchases are coming.
He said banks signed up to Environmental, Social and Governance programmes seemed to be employing “wokies” who “are just filled with an almost hatred for people who don’t subscribe to their world view”, and that:

Sen. Dianne Feinstein Cedes Power Of Attorney To Daughter, But Won’t Cede Her Seat In Congress

Some of her colleagues have called on the aging senator to resign.
Since returning to Washington, D.C. in May, Feinstein has become “a shadow of [her] former self,” Democratic New York Rep. Ritchie Torres argued in late May. The senator’s reported cognitive decline has led fellow Democrats to believe that “she can no longer fulfill her duties,” Democratic California Rep. Ro Khanna tweeted April 12.
The senator decided to entrust her 66-year-old daughter, Katherine Feinstein, with overseeing legal affairs pertaining to her late husband’s estate, according a Thursday report from The New York Times.

So… They F*cking Knew All Along
As new documents appear to indicate the entire justification for vaccine mandates may have been based on a falsehood — and that public health officials knew it, whilst the government was strong-arming social media companies to censor alternative views – where does this leave our institutional trust?
