Judge Denies Request to Seal Witness List in Trump Case

The federal judge hearing former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case denied the government prosecutors’ request to seal the list of 84 witnesses with whom Trump has been ordered not to communicate Monday.
The government’s motion to seal the witness list was “denied without prejudice,” while a motion filed by media outlets to unseal it was subsequently “denied as moot.”
“The Government’s Motion does not explain why filing the list with the Court is necessary; it does not offer a particularized basis to justify sealing the list from public view; it does not explain why partial sealing, redaction, or means other than sealing are unavailable or unsatisfactory; and it does not specify the duration of any proposed seal,” wrote Judge Aileen Cannon.

Pfizer scraps one weight loss drug in race to develop Ozempic rival

June 26 (Reuters) – Pfizer Inc (PFE.N) said it is scrapping its once-a-day experimental obesity pill because of concerns about liver safety, but will continue developing its other obesity pill, the twice daily treatment danuglipron, as it races to rival the success of other weight loss treatments.
The company’s shares fell more than 5% in early trading on Monday as Pfizer said it would stop developing its therapy lotiglipron after patients who took the drug in clinical studies were shown to have elevated levels of liver enzymes.
The news comes days after competitor Eli Lilly (LLY.N) released promising data for its own once-daily experimental pill, orforglipron.
U.S. demand for Wegovy and Ozempic, the brand names for Novo Nordisk’s once-weekly injections for treating obesity and diabetes respectively, has soared recently.
The enormous demand for treatments like Wegovy could support as many as 10 competing products with annual sales reaching up to $100 billion within a decade, mostly in the United States, industry executives and analysts have said.

Congregants Counter with Positivity After Neo-Nazi Display Outside Georgia Synagogue

Chabad.org reports as congregants were arriving for Saturday afternoon services at Chabad-Lubavitch of Cobb County, in Marietta. Ga., 12 members of an antisemitic hate group brandished antisemitic posters and swastika flags at them.
The outlet went on to report that as word spread of the vile displays, peaceful but indignant counter-protests were held and calls for positive but firm responses in the face of growing antisemitism. The rabbi further explained:
Ironically, this hateful group has shown us how many friends and how much support we have in the Jewish and non-Jewish community here in East Cobb. The outpouring of support from clergy and individuals of all walks of life has been unbelievable.
People need to know that 99% of the population totally abhors any expression of hate. East Cobb has been a wonderful home to a flourishing Jewish community for many years. These individuals do not represent the sentiments of the citizens of East Cobb.
The protest in front of the Chabad of Cobb County was the second incident from the same group over the weekend after they had demonstrated outside a synagogue in Macon, about a 90-minute car ride away.
Texas Troopers Bust Alleged Human Smuggler on Border River

Texas DPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez tweeted a video showing a DPS Tactical Marine Unit delivering an arrested Mexican national to the boat ramp in Eagle Pass.
Troopers say the man, identified as by police Armando Grimaldo-Hernandez, was smuggling migrants across the Rio Grande from his hometown of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, into Texas.
One day earlier, Olivarez tweeted another video showing a group of migrants who tunneled under cargo containers set up as a border barrier in Eagle Pass’ Shelby Park.
The six migrants managed to tunnel under the containers and razor wire to avoid apprehension. They now face state criminal charges for criminal trespass.
Facebook Trusts Former CIA Analyst To Manage Election Policies

The move is part of the revolving door between the intelligence community and social media platforms.
After his extensive tenure with the CIA, Berman joined Facebook in 2019. Here, he took on the role of Senior Product Policy Manager for “misinformation.”
He was instrumental in constructing the misinformation policy team’s workforce in the US and implementing policies during what he refers to as “critical events.”
Although Berman has not specified the nature of these events, his stint at Facebook’s misinformation department coincided with the period leading up to the 2020 election, which was marred by controversies such as suppression of voices and news outlets.
Now as the Head of Elections Policies, Berman has wide-ranging responsibilities, as described on his LinkedIn profile: “Leads a team responsible for elections-related content policies worldwide.
With new evidence, Congress unmasks a multi-year government plot to protect Biden, sully Trump

But when IRS agents found a similar storage area containing evidence in the Hunter Biden criminal tax probe, they were denied the right to search despite meeting the probable cause standard, then Biden’s lawyers were tipped off, according to new congressional testimony.
Likewise, when federal prosecutors believed there was evidence of crimes at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, they launched an unprecedented and full scale-raid on the former president.
But when agents wanted to execute a search warrant at Joe Biden’s Delaware home because they had probable cause to believe evidence of Hunter Biden tax crimes, they were turned down for a warrant to raid the guest house in which the first son was living.
Zerbe wrote.
Statute of limitations expiring, evidence withheld, witnesses and searches declared off limits, and agents being warned of political consequences for normal investigative tactics are all unusual in a single case, the two agents told Congress.
But they weren’t the only aberrant behavior seen by law enforcement since Trump burst on the scene, records and testimony show.
“I Believe This Was One Massive Cover-Up by DOJ – House Should Call in Obama to Testify” – General Michael Flynn Joins Roger Stone to Discuss Durham Report and MUCH MORE on WABC77 (AUDIO)

On Sunday, Roger Stone interviewed General Michael Flynn about the Durham report, what’s really happening in Ukraine, the Chinese spy station in Cuba and much more.
Roger Stone hosts a weekend show on WABC77 Talk Radio in New York City.
Roger Stone opened his show with this sincere and admirable introduction of General Flynn.
Roger Stone: Now that I have gotten to know him, I can honestly say that General Michael Flynn is one of the greatest Americans and has ever been my privilege to know. He is not only an outspoken American patriot, but he is a geopolitical genius. And I predict to you without fear of contradiction, that General Michael Flyn’s greatest days of public service, in my opinion, lie ahead.
Roger then asked General Flynn about the infamous briefing he and President Trump received by James Comey and John Brennan in the Trump Tower after President Trump was elected in 2016. Brennan and Comey knew at the time they were openly lying to Trump and Flynn. They knew the bogus Russia conspiracy was a Hillary Clinton operation based on nothing.
Whoops: Kinzinger Just Said Something He Shouldn’t Have About Those ‘Patriot Front’ Guys

What should trouble Kinzinger — if he cared about the truth — would be: why would federal officers pretend to be white nationalists, marching around and trying to manipulate what people are thinking?
Why would they be crashing rallies of people who don’t think like them, and why would they be trying to make other people look bad?
But notice Kinzinger is not asking about that part. That doesn’t disturb him. It’s just all about how what he can do to attack people on the right.
Kinzinger’s comment set the Internet ablaze. Talk about a faceplant—this is it, and then some. Any way you slice it not a great look for Adam Kinzinger.
Exodus of Biden’s Border Officials Continues as 4 More Quietly Resign

That brings the total to seven in recent months, along with speculation about the reasons for their departure.

“There comes a time when you have to look yourself in the mirror and say I just can’t do this anymore,” he said.
On June 22, his organization, which tracks the impact of illegal immigration on the United States, released the results of a report showing that illegal immigrants cost taxpayers $163 billion.

Wagner uprising unnerves Russia’s partners across Asia

While unnerving, some analysts say the events in Russia are unlikely to spur lasting change of the global order.
“The Wagner rebellion won’t change how leaders in Beijing and Pyongyang see their national interests as aligned with Russia and in competition with the United States and its allies,” Leif-Eric Easley, a professor at Ewha University in Seoul, told Nikkei Asia.
But China and other Asian countries have reason to wonder whether their cooperative relations with Russia would survive if Putin were to be forced out or otherwise replaced.
“China wants Russia to come under its sway,” Cain told Nikkei Asia. “But without Putin, the future would be uncertain, since the Kremlin is full of China-friendly and China-hostile factions.”
Iran also described the events in Russia as an “internal affair.” Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian spoke by telephone with his Russian counterpart and expressed support for “the rule of law in all countries, including the neighbor and friend, Russia, and criticized any foreign interference in the internal affairs of the countries.”
India is an old friend of Russia’s and relies on it for much of its defense equipment and as a source of inexpensive oil. This reliance means any instability in Russia is worrying for India, says Harsh V. Pant, a professor of international relations at King’s College London.
Russian fighter jets ‘intercept UK military aircraft over Black Sea’, Moscow claims

Two Russian Su-27 fighter jets intercepted three British military aircraft heading over the Black Sea towards the Russian border on Monday, the Russian Defence Ministry has claimed.
According to the ministry, the intercepted planes were an RC-135 reconnaissance and electronic warfare plane and two Typhoon fighter jets.
“When approached by Russian fighters, the foreign military aircraft turned back from the state border of the Russian Federation,” the ministry said.
The ministry said the planes involved were two British Typhoon jets accompanied by an RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft.
Russia claims it scrambled fighter jets after intercepting two British warplanes near border

“As the Russian fighter jets approached, the foreign warplanes turned around and distanced themselves from the Russian border,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that the planes it chased away were two British Typhoon jets accompanied by an RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft.
“The Russian planes safely returned to their airfield. There was no violation of the Russian border,” said the ministry.
As Moscow continues its offensive in Ukraine, the incidents involving Russian and Western aircraft have increased over the Black Sea and Baltic Sea.
Putin says Wagner mutineers ‘can join army or go to Belarus’ in his address to Russians

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday made a statement to the nation about Saturday’s aborted armed mutiny in which he thanked Wagner mercenary fighters and commanders who had stood down to avoid bloodshed.
Putin said he would honour his promise to allow Wagner fighters to relocate to Belarus if they wanted or to sign a contract with the Defence Ministry or simply return to their families.
“I thank those soldiers and commanders of the Wagner group who made the only right decision – they did not commit fratricidal bloodshed, they stopped at the last line. Today you have the opportunity to continue serving Russia by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense or other law enforcement agencies or return to their relatives and friends. Whoever wants to can go to Belarus. The promise I made will be fulfilled. I repeat, the choice is up to each of you, but I am sure that this will be the choice of Russian soldiers who have realized their tragic mistake,” the head of state said.
He noted that most fighters and commanders of the Wagner group are Russian patriots, devoted to their people and state.

We Have Liberated 50 Square Miles in Three-week Counter-offensive, Claims Ukraine

Kyiv’s deputy defence minister Hanna Maliar put the previous week’s fighting into context in a statement published early Monday morning, saying in Ukraine’s military eastern region of operations the Russian lines had been pushed back one-to-two kilometres (up to a mile-and-a-quarter) in battles pushing eastwards towards Donetsk and Bakhmut.
Ukrainian soldiers are now entrenched at the new forward positions and continue to engage with Russian forces, said the minister.
In all, she said, this meant the area liberated in the southern command was 130 square kilometres (50mi²), or an area the same as the Edinburgh urban area or a little smaller than Staten Island in New York (58mi²) in three weeks of counter-offensive.
New images show Chinese spy balloons over Asia

Yuko Murakami, from the Japanese ministry of defence, told the BBC that the government was “taking all precautions to monitor the situation on a daily basis” and would even be willing to shoot down balloons to protect the “lives and property of people in the territory of Japan”.
Working with satellite images provided by the company Planet Labs, Corey fed all the information into his software, known as RAIC (rapid automatic image categorization), to locate the balloons.
Surveillance balloons are huge – the size of several buses – and carry sophisticated equipment capable of collecting large amounts of data on targets below.
But photographed by a satellite from space, they appear to be just small white blobs.
Mr Jaskolski’s research shows that the balloon which flew over the US in February was at one point about 80 miles (130 km) from a nuclear air force base in the state of Montana.
Israeli police arrest three UN officials for smuggling liquid cocaine

An attempt to smuggle liquid cocaine disguised as perfume kits was halted on Sunday by Israel Police and Tax Authority inspectors from the Jordan River Customs House and Jordan River Border Crossing.
Three UN employees serving on the Syrian border were apprehended by the Northern District Police’s Yagal Unit on suspicion of involvement in the smuggling operation.
This episode is the latest in a series of drug smuggling attempts that have been effectively curtailed by Israeli authorities.
Two weeks prior, an IDF soldier intercepted a group of smugglers at the Israeli-Egyptian border, leading to the confiscation of drugs with a street value of approximately NIS 5 million (approximately $1,390,000 USD) and the arrest of two suspects.
North Korea holds rallies denouncing US, warns of nuclear war

Sunday’s anniversary came amid concerns Pyongyang could soon conduct another launch of its first military spy satellite to boost monitoring of U.S. military activities after its first attempt ended in failure on May 31.
North Korea now had “the strongest absolute weapon to punish the U.S. imperialists” and the “avengers on this land are burning with the indomitable will to revenge the enemy,” KCNA said.
Nuclear-armed North Korea has been testing various weapons including its biggest intercontinental ballistic missile, ramping up tension with the South and the South’s main ally, the United States.
In a separate foreign ministry report, North Korea said the U.S. was “making desperate efforts to ignite a nuclear war,” accusing Washington of sending strategic assets to the region.

McCarthy says he’ll start impeachment of AG Merrick Garland by July 6

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says Republicans will begin an impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Merrick Garland by July 6 following bombshell IRS whistleblower testimony that the top Justice Department official interfered in the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden.
McCarthy said on Fox & Friends Monday that U.S. Attorney David Weiss – who led the investigation into Hunter and charged the president’s son last week for violating federal tax and gun laws after a 5-year probe – must appear before the House Judiciary Committee.
In addition, the speaker said that an impeachment inquiry into Garland will begin by July 6 if the IRS whistleblower claims check out.
He said ‘what’s interesting is the IRS whistleblower that has no political background, took copious notes, can tell you the date, can tell you the people in the meeting.’
McCarthy said the discrepancies between what U.S. Attorney Weiss has said versus what Attorney General Merrick Garland has said is the key issue at hand.
