Illinois allows assisted suicide after Pritzker signs bill

Illinois has recently passed a law allowing medically assisted dying for terminally ill residents. Gov. JB Pritzker signed the legislation, named “Deb’s Law,” enabling adults with a prognosis of six months or less to request a prescription for self-administered medication.
The law was approved narrowly by the Illinois Senate after earlier passage in the House. Advocates argue it provides autonomy in dying, while opponents view it as legalizing “state-sanctioned suicide.”
Illinois becomes the first Midwest state to enact such a law, joining 12 other states with similar provisions…..
The Islamic State’s war on Christians in Congo

As the Trump Administration touts an ostensible peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, another deadly, albeit less-talked-about conflict is also raging in eastern Congo.
Since January 2025, the Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP), colloquially known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), has killed at least 967 civilians in various massacres, with most, if not all, of the victims being Christian villagers.
Most of these massacres have been perpetrated in Congo’s North Kivu Province, specifically in its Lubero territory. This locale is not particularly far from the conflict between the DRC and the Rwandan-backed M23 Movement that the Trump Administration is trying to stop.
The largest of these massacres came in September, when ISCAP murdered at least 90 people in two locations in eastern Congo. In both cases, the Islamic State made clear that the explicit targets of the attacks were Christian civilians. This ideological framing against Congolese Christians has consistently grown in the last few years.
In the larger of the two incidents that day, ISCAP militants brutally slaughtered at least 72 people, including 26 at a funeral wake, in the village of Ntoyo in North Kivu Province’s Lubero territory.
This number is likely a low estimate, as some local officials stated that the death toll was as high as 102, while others reported that at least 100 others were believed to be abducted by the group. Various vehicles and houses were also burned down by the militants….
EPA Chief Zeldin: Americans Concerned About Geoengineering Are ‘Not Conspiracy Theorists’

Speaking to reporters in Washington, Lee Zeldin defended Americans questioning government and private research into climate intervention technologies, emphasizing that skepticism is “genuine and real.” He cautioned that labeling concerned citizens as conspiracy theorists only fuels distrust and misinformation.
“If the U.S. government takes the position that we aren’t going to communicate with any of these people because we are just going to label them all as tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists, that ends up putting everyone in a worse position,” Zeldin said. “There’s less trust of government, there’s more of a vacuum of information. More people start believing in inaccurate information.”
The EPA recently unveiled a public database compiling ongoing studies and projects related to contrails and geoengineering, which Zeldin said reflects his policy of “total transparency.” The database, accessible on the EPA’s website, covers research into topics such as stratospheric aerosol injection, marine cloud brightening, and atmospheric gas removal.
“My policy on this topic is that everything that I know as EPA Administrator, the public should know,” Zeldin said. “Geoengineering, weather modification, stratospheric aerosol injection, marine cloud brightening—the list goes on where people have questions. And my position is that they deserve answers.”
Zeldin warned, however, that misinformation online has clouded the conversation, with some users misrepresenting ordinary airplane condensation trails as evidence of secret government spraying programs. “They will put out a picture of a trail coming off the back of an airplane and say, ‘look, the government’s engaging in stratospheric aerosol injection.’ Anybody who knows the topic understands that’s just not an accurate statement,” he said.
The EPA chief confirmed that the agency is currently tracking one company conducting stratospheric aerosol experiments—Make Sunsets—which he described as “putting sulfur dioxide in the stratosphere at an extraordinarily low amount of volume.” Under federal law, such projects are only required to notify the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Zeldin called the company’s activity “crazy” but said its existence highlights the need for national discussion before any group attempts to expand such operations. “What happens if an entity chooses that they want to massively ramp up that effort?” he asked. “I’m not going to dismiss millions of Americans’ concerns. I want to help get them answers, and I just want to be honest in explaining what I find out.”….
Trump says he’s just pardoning Tina Peters convicted in state court

President Trump on Thursday pardoned former Colorado clerk Tina Peters, who was convicted of election interference in state court in August 2024.
“Tina is sitting in a Colorado prison for the ‘crime’ of demanding Honest Elections,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “Today I am granting Tina a full Pardon for her attempts to expose Voter Fraud in the Rigged 2020 Presidential Election!”
The decision comes after Trump pressured Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) for months to free Peters, threatening “harsh measures” if not.
The former clerk was found guilty on seven counts, including four felonies for election interference. She was sentenced to nine years in prison, where her lawyers say she was the subject of numerous attacks.
“This lightweight Governor, who has allowed his State to go to hell (Tren de Aragua, anyone?), should be ashamed of himself,” Trump wrote online in early December.

Trump’s DHS rolls back more of Biden’s immigration handouts for foreign nationals

President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security is continuing to roll back Temporary Protected Status, which was widely granted to numerous countries under the previous administration’s leadership.
On Friday morning, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued a press release announcing that the DHS will terminate TPS for Ethiopia.
The current TPS designation was set to expire on Friday. Ethiopian nationals without another lawful basis to remain in the U.S. have 60 days to leave the country.
Those individuals are encouraged to use the Customs and Border Protection’s CBP Home mobile app to report their departure. They will receive a plane ticket and a $1,000 exit bonus.
The DHS may begin making arrests and deportations after February 13 for those who fail to leave voluntarily. They will not be eligible to return to the U.S….

Whistleblower warns massive fraud is happening in Ohio Somali community, Minnesota ‘just tip of the spear’

On the heels of Minnesota’s still-unfolding massive social services fraud scandal, a whistleblower is exposing a similar scheme occurring among the Ohio Somali community, which she says dates back over a decade and totals millions in stolen taxpayer dollars.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Mehek Cooke, an Ohio attorney and conservative commentator, said that “Minnesota was just the tip of the spear.”
She said that providers within the Ohio Somali community have confided to her that they have been pressured to join in a “massive” Medicaid fraud scheme that involves doctors “rubber stamping” home healthcare payouts to the family members of elderly individuals for fake medical conditions.
She explained that scammers in the community have been exploiting a loophole in Ohio’s Medicaid program that allows individuals to receive Medicaid payments, totaling as much as $91,000 per year per individual, for care they are supposedly providing to a family member.
Doctors who approve these payments in turn receive kickbacks themselves, according to Cooke….
California home explosion caught on doorbell camera

Six people were hospitalized in California following a devastating home explosion caught on video.
Footage from a doorbell camera at a home near Hayward in the San Francisco Bay Area showed a property blowing up Thursday, sending debris flying into the air. Sirens could then be heard as a fire broke out.
“It was scary,” Christian Maldanado, who took the video, told KTVU. “It was like a scene from Hollywood. It was unreal.”
The Alameda County Fire Department said 75 firefighters battled the three-alarm blaze, while the explosion and fire left three buildings destroyed and adjacent houses damaged.
