4 arrested in alleged Border Patrol operation sabotage attempt near LA as attacks on immigration agents surge
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that another four individuals were arrested for allegedly interfering with a federal immigration operation outside Los Angeles as law enforcement officers face increased attacks for enforcing the Trump administration’s mass deportation agenda.
The Department of Justice (DOJ), meanwhile, said it “is actively tracking these targeted assaults against our law enforcement and will hold offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
“Any official promoting anti-police rhetoric and encouraging reckless behavior should think twice before inciting further violence and putting federal agents in harm’s way,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
The incident happened while U.S. Border Patrol conducted what DHS categorized as a “target immigration enforcement operation” in Van Nuys, Calif., on Tuesday. …
The incident comes as DHS has reported a 700% increase in attacks on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal immigration enforcement agents since President Donald Trump took office this year.
Federal immigration agents have come under armed ambushes in Texas twice in recent days.

Heavy monsoon rains that hit southern New Mexico and triggered a flash flood warning were so intense that an entire house was swept away in the process.
According to NewsNation affiliate KRQE, three people died and some people were hospitalized as a result of the floods on Tuesday. Among the victims were a four-year-old girl, a seven-year-old boy and a man in his 40s to 50s. Rio Ruidoso in New Mexico rose a record-breaking 20 feet in about 30 minutes.
The flooding comes days after floods hit central Texas over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, which left 119 people dead and more than 170 others are still missing.
New Mexico’s governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, has declared a state of emergency and requested federal response teams for the area. She said the state has already sent support, and some federal resources are also on their way.
Officials in Ruidoso said around 50 to 60 people were rescued Tuesday night, and that search and rescue operations are still underway…
119 dead, many more missing after Texas flooding
Recovery efforts in central Texas continue Wednesday in the aftermath of deadly floods over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
At least 119 people have been confirmed dead across six counties, and more than 170 are still missing after flash flooding spurred on by massive rainfall, according to Nexstar affiliate KXAN.
As of Wednesday morning, 95 were dead in Kerr County alone. Of those, 59 were adults and 36 were children. More than two dozen have yet to be identified.
An estimated 161 people remain missing in Kerr County, including five children and one counselor from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, officials said Wednesday…
Searchers last made a live rescue on Friday, the same day early-morning floods inundated the state’s Hill Country, police said Tuesday…
Kerrville Police Department Community Services Officer Jonathan Lamb recounted the first hours of flooding, when officers realized areas that don’t typically flood were going to.
In that first hour, Lamb said authorities evacuated more than 100 homes, rescued more than 200 people and went door-to-door waking people up….
CIA Contradicts Obama Officials’ Sworn Denials About Russiagate Report
The eight-page review conducted by career CIA analysts found the dossier did, in fact, worm its way into the text of the highly classified report known as an Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) to buttress the thinly sourced, yet inflammatory allegation that “Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances.”
“Ultimately, agency heads decided to include a two-page summary of the dossier as an annex to the ICA, with a disclaimer that the material was not used ‘to reach the analytic conclusions,’” the CIA review said on page five. “However, by placing a reference to the annex material in the main body of the ICA as the fourth supporting bullet for the judgment that Putin ‘aspired’ to help Trump win, the ICA implicitly elevated [the dossier’s] unsubstantiated claims to the status of credible supporting evidence, compromising the analytical integrity of the judgment.”
The CIA’s “lessons-learned” report contradicts Obama administration officials’ claims – most of which were made under oath – that they did not use the since-debunked dossier. ….
McCabe’s boss, former FBI Director James B. Comey, swore the same thing during a September 2020 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing: “It was significant enough and consistent enough with other intelligence that it ought to be included, but it wasn’t sufficiently corroborated to be in the body of the Intelligence Community Assessment.”
The CIA review shows that the unverified and now-debunked dossier was used as support for the intelligence analysis, not just as a sidebar as Obama officials have maintained. And they relied on it to back the most inflammatory finding in the intelligence report.
The new report also raises fresh questions about the candor of the Obama administration’s top intel operatives and whether they politicized intelligence to paint incoming GOP President Donald Trump as compromised by the Kremlin.
In an X post last week, deputy CIA Director Michael Ellis said newly declassified CIA emails “show how Brennan personally intervened to insert the Steele dossier’s lies into intelligence analysis” over the objections of his top Russia analysts at Langley….
The newly surfaced documents are at odds with Brennan’s sworn 2023 statements before the House Judiciary Committee in which he claimed he was “very much opposed to having any reference or inclusion of the Steele dossier.”
The emails also conflict with his testimony that he was not involved with the dossier during the drafting of the assessment, even though he took the lead, according to the new CIA review….
The CIA’s after-action report is the first peek into what was contained inside the “highest classified version” of the ICA – “Russia’s Influence Campaign Targeting the 2016 US Presidential Election,” dated Dec. 30, 2016.
It differed from the unclassified January 2017 version that was released to the public. The public version did not contain the dossier material, blinding the American electorate to the political influence the Clinton campaign had in shaping the important U.S. intelligence product.
(There was also a third version, classified at a lower level, which was used to brief top Republican and Democratic members of Congress. It’s not clear if that version also censored the dossier references.)
The ICA was a rush job prepared at the behest of President Obama following Trump’s upset victory over Clinton. On Dec. 6, 2016, the new CIA review reports, Obama ordered “then-Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper to conduct a comprehensive review of all available intelligence and provide the IC’s best assessment of Russian activities related to the election.” While such complex assessments, which draw on the findings of multiple intel agencies, usually take several months to prepare, Obama requested the finished product before he left office….
110 People Injured While Thousands More Ordered to Shelter in Place amid ‘Apocalyptic’ Wildfire
Over 100 people have been injured while thousands more have been told to shelter in place after a wildfire tore through a portion of southern France.
Officials said 110 people, including firefighters and police officers, have been slightly injured due to the blaze as of Tuesday, July 8, according to The Associated Press, BBC and The New York Times.
The fire began near Pennes-Mirabeau, north of Marseille, and spanned around 700 hectares (1,729 acres) of land, per AP and BBC. The blaze was reportedly sparked after a heat wave impacted various portions of Europe, leading to an elevated risk for wildfires.
“It’s very striking — apocalyptic even,” said Monique Baillard, a resident of Les Pennes-Mirabeau, per Reuters.
More than 1,000 firefighters were deployed to the coastal area, where hundreds of homes were evacuated as the fire moved through the region, according to AP and Sky News.
France’s interior minister, Bruno Retailleau, said at least 30 firefighters as well as police officers were among the injured, as winds helped fuel the fire, the Times reported. He also said it was “exceptional” that the fire did not cause any deaths….
Russia launches record 741 drones and missiles in its largest aerial attack against Ukraine
In a massive barrage of drones and missiles against Ukraine overnight, Russia launched its largest ever aerial attack, with a total of 741 targets launched against Ukraine.
Moscow used 728 Shahed-type drones and decoys, seven Iskander cruise missiles and six aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles, mostly targeting the city of Lutsk in western Ukraine, less than 100 kilometres from the Polish border.
The Polish Air Force stated that it scrambled fighter jets in response to the attack to protect Poland’s airspace.
Ukraine Air Forces reported that 296 Shahed-type drones were shot down, while 415 were jammed by electronic warfare. Ukrainian air defence troops also intercepted all seven Iskander cruise missiles.
However, six Kinzhal missiles managed to bypass Ukraine’s air defences amid a shortage of US-supplied Patriot missile systems and relevant interceptor missiles.
