Nigeria’s Genocide Against Christians ‘Spreading Like a Cancer’

  • Since 2011, Islamic violence against Nigerian Christians has escalated.
  • “Our reporters have documented that mass kidnappings of women in Kaduna state in 2023 were in fact aimed at capturing scores of women in Southern Kaduna and selling them as sex slaves in the Fulani bandit community.” — Douglas Burton, managing editor of “Truth Nigeria,” interview with Gatestone Institute, October 2025.
  • “The chief reason there is so little media attention is that the Nigerian media themselves have deliberately failed to give a clear picture of who is doing the violence and why…. Most media appear to be controlled by cash payments from government spokesmen or others offering ‘courtesy gifts.’ When the army holds a presser, every reporter who shows up gets a cash envelope, the more influential his paper, the bigger the reward — still the practice in many countries, I believe. TV reporters get better incentives, and TV executives are said to receive parcels of real estate in Kaduna State. TruthNigeria reporters tell me that in previous years they used to take those ‘courtesy gifts,’ too. Our reporters find it very hard to get Nigerian public affairs officers to answer their calls….” — Douglas Burton, October 2025.
  • U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025.
  • “Nigerian Christians are being targeted and executed for their faith by Islamist terrorist groups, and are being forced to submit to sharia law and blasphemy laws across Nigeria. It is long past time to impose real costs on the Nigerian officials who facilitate these activities, and my Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act uses new and existing tools to do exactly that. I urge my colleagues to advance this critical legislation expeditiously.” — Senator Ted Cruz, September 11, 2025.
  • Many in the U.S. are urgently expecting the Senate to follow Cruz’s lead.

As the genocide against Christians in Nigeria crashes on, a news outlet, TruthNigeria.com, continues to courageously shed light on the atrocities committed by jihadists against Nigerians of all religions.

“Truth Nigeria,” according to its website, “had to be launched to slice through the fog of war and the cloud of false narrative that bedevils mainstream media reporting of what many call a ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria that has been spreading like a cancer.”

Award-winning journalist Douglas Burton, a former U.S. State Department official who says, “I serve as managing editor for about 12 freelancers who risk their lives to lift the veil on the world’s most shameful and still barely reported Christian genocide,” was interviewed by Gatestone:…

How Food Industry Lobbyists Keep the Food-Stamp Gravy Train Going

Unless members of Congress intervene to prevent it, the food stamp program—also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—will be suspended beginning November 1. If the federal partial “shutdown” ends before then, the program will likely send out the usual billions of dollars to the nation’s 41 million recipients on schedule.

Needless to say, lobbyists and activists who favor the food stamp program have been working furiously to make sure that the program is not interrupted.

Much of the narrative around food stamps has focused on the fact that millions of low-income households receive more than eight billion dollars in food stamps per month in the United States. The narrative usually works well given that total spending on food stamps has risen significantly in recent years with total inflation-adjusted spending up by nearly 100 percent since 2008, and up by six percent over the past twelve months.

[Read More: “41 Million (One in Eight) US Residents Are on Food Stamps“ by Ryan McMaken]

While the media narrative has focused on low-income recipients, it often ignores the role of corporate and industry lobbyists who work to increase food stamp spending and to ensure the program remains permanent. Farmers, “Big Ag,” grocery retailers, beverage companies, and other industry players are very active in lobbying members of Congress to ensure that food-stamp dollars keep flowing.

This should not surprise us when we consider that food stamps subsidize food and drive up demand for the sorts of products manufactured and sold by a variety of food-related industries.

Consequently, food stamp programs enjoy support from a well-funded alliance of industry lobbyists and “anti-poverty” pressure groups that ceaselessly push for ever larger amounts of tax-dollar funds to be spent on food stamps.

Food Stamps Are Subsidies and Push up Food Prices

To understand why private industry groups are such big fans of food stamps it’s important to recognize how SNAP spending is a wealth transfer from non-SNAP recipients to both SNAP users and to industry groups.

SNAP funds can be used only on food. So, when taxpayer dollars are converted into SNAP funds, this takes dollars that could have been spend on anything and channels those funds into food-only purchases. Moreover, empirical evidence shows that SNAP recipients do not treat SNAP funds as fungible with money in general, and the funds are thus part of a “separate mental account.” Consequently, SNAP spending constitutes “extra” spending above and beyond what would have been spent on food without the subsidy.1

This leads to rising prices in the food and food-services industry because “nutrition programs expand the size of the food and agricultural sector through demand-side effects and act to raise agricultural prices.”2.

Other empirical studies have also confirmed that SNAP spending does indeed raise prices, and therefore constitutes a wealth transfer to SNAP recipients, food producers, and food retailers. Taxpayers and non-SNAP households, of course, are the ones left holding the bag. As Justin H. Leung and Hee Kwon Seo showed in a June 2022 empirical study of food stamps, the program does indeed benefit SNAP recipients the most, but “increased SNAP benefits also benefit producers at the expense of non-SNAP consumers.”

It is clear that by funneling wealth and spending power into a food-only benefits program, demand for food is artificially inflated, and with rising demand comes rising prices. This functions in a way similar to student loans, which have also led to relentless upward pressure in prices in that sector.

Food Stamps as Corporate Welfare

So, it’s easy to see why food-related industry groups would oppose any cuts to the SNAP program. The connection to private industry, however, is nothing new.

The food stamp program is now, and always has been, administered through the Department of Agriculture, and not through the usual home of welfare agencies, the Department of Health and Human Services. This is SNAP is as much a corporate subsidy program as it is a welfare program. ….

Sean Grayson found guilty of murder in shooting death trial of Sonya Massey

An Illinois jury has convicted a former sheriff’s deputy of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Sonya Massey, a Black woman who called 911 for help.

The nine-woman, three-man jury announced the verdict against Sean Grayson on Wednesday.

Grayson arrived at Massey’s home in Springfield after she reported seeing a prowler early on July 6, 2024. At the time of the shooting, Massey was holding a pan of hot water. Grayson’s attorneys argued that he was afraid she would throw it at him.

Jurors deliberated on Wednesday in the trial of a 31-year-old former Sangamon County Deputy, which was moved to Peoria due to pre-trial publicity.

The jury received the case on Tuesday and deliberated for more than six hours before resuming efforts on Wednesday.

In July 2024, a 911 call led Grayson and his partner to respond to Massey’s home, who believed someone was trying to break in. The call for help turned deadly during a confrontation over her handling of a pot of hot water.

Video shows Massey putting her hands up as she removed the pot from the stove. Then, Massey said, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” Grayson yelled at her to drop the pot and threatened to shoot her. Massey apologized and ducked behind a counter.

Prosecutors accuse Grayson of using excessive force, fatally shooting Massey inside her Springfield home.

“Sonya’s death was senseless and avoidable,” prosecutors told the jury. …

Corpses line Rio street, pushing death toll from police raids to 132

The deadliest police operation in Brazil’s history killed at least 132 people, officials said on Wednesday, after Rio de Janeiro residents lined a street with dozens of corpses collected overnight, a week ahead of global climate events in the city.

The tally from the Rio public defender’s office was more than double the death toll released on Tuesday, when state authorities reported at least 64 dead, including four police officers. The raids were targeting a major drug gang, the state government said.

Rio Governor Claudio Castro said the initial tally had only counted bodies processed in the public morgue.

Penha residents who went looking for lost relatives had collected many of the corpses from a forested area behind their neighborhood, according to people at the scene, where more than 70 of the bodies were lined up in the middle of the street.

“I just want to take my son out of here and bury him,” said Taua Brito, a mother of one of those killed, surrounded by weeping mourners and onlookers on either side of the long row of bodies, some of which were covered with sheets or bags.

Governor Castro said he was certain those dead from the operation were criminals, as much of the gunfire was in a wooded area. “I don’t think anyone would be walking in the forest on the day of the conflict,” he told reporters.

“The only real victims were the police officers,” he said.

The police operation came days before Rio hosts global events related to the United Nations climate summit known as COP30, including the C40 global summit of mayors tackling climate change and British Prince William’s Earthshot Prize….

Feds nab anti-ICE activists in sweeping pre-dawn LA raid

Federal authorities on Wednesday arrested an anti-ICE protester who allegedly damaged a vehicle belonging to immigration agents during a pot farm raid over the summer near Los Angeles.

Fox News was exclusively embedded with Homeland Security during the pre-dawn arrest of Isai Carrillo, who was taken down by agents in a dark alleyway.

The pre-dawn raid targeted two anti-ICE activists who federal authorities say played a lead role in the disturbing, viral video that shows activists bottlenecking immigration agent’s cars and then violently smashing-in their windows during a notable pot farm raid in Camarillo, Calif., over the summer.

Carrillo was captured on video dramatically smashing in federal agents’ windows on the pot farm.  A female, a known anti-ICE “agitator” who allegedly trails agents and posts videos, was also wanted at the same address as Carrillo.

However, she escaped arrest Wednesday morning and is potentially going to be named a fugitive, authorities said.

Wednesday’s arrests were part of a broader, sweeping take down across Los Angeles of suspects wanted for allegedly engaging in violence against law enforcement during this summer’s chaotic protests across the city….

Trump Administration Overhauls Biden’s DEI Broadband Program that Connected Zero Households in 4 Years

Photographer: Tierney L. Cross/Bloomberg

As Breitbart has previously reported, BEAD was filled with DEI mandates, climate-regulation burdens, and a fiber-technology bias that virtually banned viable satellite and fixed-wireless solutions — despite fiber being inefficient in sparsely populated areas.

Rather than prioritizing connecting rural Americans most cost-effectively, BEAD under Biden became an ideological vehicle — so much so that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) admitted four years after the bill’s passage that it hadn’t connected a single household.

The $42.5 billion federal program prioritized woke corporate mandates and handouts to the politically connected fiber and broadband lobby, while discriminating against far more efficient Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite technology, such as SpaceX’s Starlink.

Four years after it passed, it proposed spending tens of thousands of dollars per household, but failed to connect a single American.

Assistant Secretary Roth agreed, noting that “For years, BEAD was weighed down by red tape and extralegal conditions that slowed down states, deterred providers, and sidelined innovative technologies.”

However, she alluded to the problem of state governments undermining the Trump administration’s priorities on BEAD, explaining, “As BEAD moves toward final plan approvals, delivering results means keeping defaults to an absolute minimum.  A program this large and unprecedented must be managed with discipline and careful oversight.  That means meticulously reviewing state proposals to ensure compliance, prevent distortionary outcomes, and protect against waste.”…

The US draws down some troops on NATO’s eastern flank

The United States has informed its NATO allies that it will scale back its troop presence along Europe’s eastern border with Ukraine as it focuses on security priorities elsewhere in the world, Romania’s defense ministry said on Wednesday.

The U.S. Army later confirmed the move, but denied it was a sign of lessened commitment to NATO.

Depending on operations and exercises, around 80,000-100,000 U.S. troops are usually present on European soil. NATO allies have expressed concern that the Trump administration might drastically cut their numbers and leave a security vacuum as European countries confront an increasingly aggressive Russia.

The administration has been reviewing its military “posture” in Europe and elsewhere, but U.S. officials have said that the findings of the review were not expected to be known before early next year.

NATO has recently been bulking up its defensive posture on its eastern flank bordering Belarus, Russia and Ukraine after a series of airspace violations by drones, balloons and Russian aircraft.

The Romanian defense ministry said that the U.S. decision will “stop the rotation in Europe of a brigade that had elements in several NATO countries,” including at a base in Romania.

It said in a statement that about 1,000 U.S. troops will remain stationed in Romania. As of April, more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel were estimated to be deployed there. A brigade usually numbers anywhere from 1,500 to 3,000 troops….
