Michigan Family Speaks Out About Nigerian ‘Sextortion’ Scam That Led to Son’s Suicide

Sextortion. It’s a crime we’ve learned so much about in the last year after Marquette teen Jordan DeMay, caught in a scam, died by suicide.

Investigators are calling it a landmark case as three Nigerian men are now awaiting extradition to the United States on charges related to the sextortion of Jordan DeMay.

Catching these predators is rare – they’re typically overseas – creating a challenging web of jurisdictions, red tape, and a complex cyber trail.

But in Jordan’s case, local law enforcement did it right, credited with quickly tracking down IP addresses and information vital in learning the location and names of the three men charged.

On what would have been Jordan’s 19th birthday, TV6′s Elizabeth Peterson sat down with Jennifer Buta, his mother, who is working to make sure what happened to Jordan last year doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Jordan is remembered by his family and friends as being kind, social, a friend to everyone, a devoted brother and son – the kind of person who was just always there for you.

Biden admin. releasing Chinese military-linked migrants into US, GOP Rep warns

Mark Green (R-Tenn.), House Homeland Security Committee chairman, announced in a Wednesday press conference that there is evidence that migrants with ties to the Chinese military have been released by the Biden administration in the United States.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Green told the Daily Caller that he has evidence that some of the Chinese migrants that have illegally crossed the southern border and been released into the United States under the Biden administration’s immigration policies have connections to China’s People’s Liberation Army and the Chinese Communist Party.

The Daily Caller previously reported that Border Patrol has witnessed an increase of encounters with Chinese migrants at the southern border of 393% between October 2022 and April of this year. Border Patrol reportedly encountered 9,711 Chinese migrants at the border during that period of time.

Ohio teen strangled to death on Myrtle Beach senior trip

Natalie Martin, 18, of Roseville, was enjoying a trip to South Carolina to celebrate her recent high school graduation when her ex-boyfriend Blake William Linkous, also 18, of Blue Rock, allegedly strangled her to death inside a hotel room on Maison Drive on June 7.

GoFundMe has been started to raise funeral expenses for the teen’s funeral, so far raising more than $31,000 out of its $15,000 goal.

Linkous will be held in the county jail until he can appear before a circuit court judge, who will consider bond. His lawyer, Fran Humphries, did not respond in time for this report.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted of the murder charge.

Pennsylvania Woman’s ‘Heinous and Graphic’ Actions Led Ex-boyfriend to Suicide

She told him over WhatsApp she was moving in with a new man, and that the new partner would be their daughter’s new father, according to documents. She also warned Metzger would never see his child again.

“I hope for (the child’s) sake that you do kill yourself,” Reusch allegedly wrote. “She would be better off not even knowing you.”

She also messaged him how she would have sex with her new beau on Mother’s Day “while your daughter calls him daddy,” the news outlet reported, citing police.

In another instance, she allegedly sent a video of her having sex with another man when Metzger sent her $200 and she said that wasn’t enough money.

The messages were fired off when Metzger was at military training while Reusch and their daughter were home, police said, according to Pennlive.com.

“Go kill yourself,” she reportedly wrote in another message, this time from 2020. “You aren’t a real (expletive) human.”

Federal Reserve Halts Rate Hikes For First Time in 15 Months

The US central bank signaled that any pause in interest rate hikes may be brief — more of a “skip” — with another rate hike likely as soon as their next meeting in late July.

The Fed’s dot plot hints that another two, 25-basis-point rate hikes could happen before the end of the year, bringing the benchmark rate to between 5.5% and 5.57%, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Despite the central bank’s unanimous decision to hold rates steady, two Fed officials see the rate reaching between 5.75% and 6% by the end of 2023, while one official predicts the rate will soar above 6%, the outlet reported.

Seminole County Sheriff via Storyful

According to a June 9 arrest report from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), Officer Alexander Shaouni of the Orlando Police Department (OPD) was spotted going 80 mph in a 45 mph zone while driving an OPD vehicle, prompting an SCSO deputy to pursue him with their lights and siren activated.

The deputy had to drive at over 90 mph to catch Shaouni because he did not immediately pull over, the report said.

Footage released by SCSO shows some of the pursuit and a heated exchange between Shaouni and the deputy that followed.

Women who started the pill as teens have 130% higher rate of depression: study

That’s one of the findings from a large study of more than 264,000 women, which also finds that teenage girls are at the highest risk.

In fact, women who were teenagers when they began to use birth control pills had a 130% higher rate of depression.

The increased rate among adult users was 92%, according to the study authors.

“The powerful influence of contraceptive pills on teenagers can be ascribed to the hormonal changes caused by puberty,” Therese Johansson, of the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University in Sweden, said in a news release.

Former Philly Starbucks manager wins $25.6 million after being fired for being white

Phillips was terminated in 2018 in response to backlash against Starbucks after two black men, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson, were arrested while waiting for a business associate at one of the many Philadelphia locations she oversaw.

Employees at the Center City Philadelphia cafe called the police on the pair after they asked to use the washroom but hadn’t ordered anything.

Phillips claimed in her 2020 lawsuit that her firing had been racially motivated. She said she was targeted despite not having had any direct influence on the decision to call the police.

Her allegations were backed up by the testimony of Paul Sykes, the black supervisor of the employee who made the 911 call that day.

Sykes argued that the fact he did not face any disciplinary action while Phillips was let go showed that Starbucks had acted in a manor that exhibited racial bias.

Pfizer Caught Funneling $10 Million to Anderson Cooper to Promote mRNA Jabs to the American Public

Pfizer has funneled a whopping $10 million dollars into the bank account of CNN host Anderson Cooper as part of a deal to promote the company’s toxic mRNA jabs to the American public.

According to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the majority of Cooper’s CNN salary comes from Pfizer, a fact that remains unknown to many.

He claims that around $10 million of Cooper’s $12 million annual salary is directly sourced from Pfizer.

“Anderson Cooper has a $12 million a year annual salary,” Kennedy stated. “Well, $10 million of that is coming from Pfizer.”

Trump Celebrates 77th Birthday, Likely With Low-Key Dinner

Former President Donald Trump is celebrating his 77th birthday Wednesday in a much more low-key fashion after a busy day that saw him become the first former president in U.S. history to be arrested by his successor and political rival.

“Trump is [known for] hating his birthday, and never celebrates it in a meaningful way,” a source told the New York Post. “Insiders say he feels even more so this year as he doesn’t want to call attention to the fact he’s turning 77.

“No big party is planned.”

The plans are likely to be a low-key dinner at his Bedminster, New Jersey, home with former first lady Melania Trump and his youngest son Baron Trump, 17, according to the Post.

Trump was serenaded with “Happy Birthday” twice after he was arrested, processed, released on 37 federal counts, including Tuesday night during his address to supporters and donor at Bedminster, which aired live and in its entirety on Newsmax.

Meet the Ukrainian Oligarch Who Allegedly Paid Joe Biden $5 Million

Zlochevsky’s whereabouts today are unknown. Some speculate he is in Monaco, where he reportedly fled in 2019, escaping Ukraine after being suspected of embezzlement. He reportedly bought Cypriot citizenship between 2017 and 2019, according to an investigation by Al Jazeera.

In 2002, Zlochevsky co-founded Burisma, which allegedly changed owners in 2011 to an offshore Cypriot investment fund. According to the Guardian, from 2010 to 2012, Zlochevsky was Ukraine’s Ecology and Natural Resources Minister and was Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council from April 2012 through February 2014.

As the environment minister, some accuse Zlochevsky of handing out gas licenses to his cronies, the British daily newspaper reported.

In 2016, Zlochevsky was under suspicion of money laundering and public corruption related to Burisma. Prosecutor Victor Shokin investigated the case before his termination due to pressure applied by then-Vice President Joe Biden, who threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid from Ukraine if the Ukrainian government did not fire Shokin. Joe Biden bragged about the firing in 2018.

At his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, former President Trump speaks out following his arraignment in a Miami federal court stemming from charges connected to his handling of classified documents.

Trump’s Boxes and Clinton’s Sock Drawer

Although the indictment against Donald Trump doesn’t cite the Presidential Records Act, the charges are predicated on the law.

The indictment came about only because the government thought Mr. Trump took records that didn’t belong to him, and the government raided his house to find any such records.

This should never have happened.

The Presidential Records Act allows the president to decide what records to return and what records to keep at the end of his presidency.

And the National Archives and Records Administration can’t do anything about it.

I know because I’m the lawyer who lost the “Clinton sock drawer” case.

“Project 65” Seeks to Kill All the Trump Lawyers — By Canceling Them: The Progressive Left’s Latest Move to Destroy America

Guest Post by Jeffrey Clark, Former Assistant Attorney General at the U.S. Justice Department

As Shakespeare famously wrote in Henry VI Part II: “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”

The evenhanded application of the law is a principle that must be defended. Everywhere, balance and perspective are under attack. Whatever the costs of America’s process-heavy adversarial contests, that feature of our polity is a key bulwark of liberty. Due process is not something to be trifled with, deconstructed, or thrown away based on the passions of the political moment.

Yet that is happening, right now. The Left has set the lines of battle: Any lawyers who worked for President Trump with verve and ingenuity, along with any lawyers he retained to mount his various 2020 election contests, must be crushed, must have their noses rubbed into the dirt, must if possible lose their jobs and even their right to practice law. It’s not right, just as it would not have been right to demonize the lawyers who mounted Al Gore’s challenges to the 2000 presidential election in Florida.

On the Left, the constant rallying cry is “Remember January 6!” It’s like a woke version of “Remember the Alamo!”,

Ukraine war latest: How Putin will likely be replaced, according to expert – as Wagner boss defies Russian president’s demand

Global weapons stockpiles are ‘diminished’ and the UK cannot produce what Ukraine needs, says defence minister

A defence minister admitted that weapon stockpiles globally are “diminished” and the UK alone does not have the manufacturing capability and the necessary supply chains to produce the weapons needed by Ukraine.

Making an intervention during James Heappey’s speech, Labour former minister Wayne David asked him if he was “absolutely confident” that the UK had the means to provide Ukraine with the weaponry.

Mr Heappey replied: “Not solely in the UK, no. I don’t think that’s a surprise for anybody, but I think collectively around the donor community, yes.”

He added: “It is also true that after 18 months of me and my colleagues travelling around the world buying up all of this stuff, stockpiles globally are diminished.”

“It’s a good time to get into the defence industry and the UK-based defence companies are clearly responding to that demand signal as you would expect them to,” he said.

At least 79 dead and dozens feared missing after fishing boat carrying migrants sinks off Greece

A large search and rescue operation has saved 104 people so far, four of whom have been taken to hospital with symptoms of hypothermia.

It was unclear how many passengers remained missing at sea after the Greek coast guard reported the 78 fatalities.

The incident took place last night around 45 miles south-west of Greece’s southern Peloponnese region.

Six coast guard vessels, a navy frigate, a military transport plane, an air force helicopter, several private vessels and a drone from the European Union border protection agency, Frontex, are taking part in the ongoing search.

Chechen MP in Russia’s State Assembly Wounded by Recent Ukrainian Artillery Strike

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said on Wednesday one of his senior commanders was alive and well, dismissing reports that he had been killed or wounded in Ukraine.

The commander, Adam Delimkhanov, heads the Chechen division of the Russian national guard and is also a member of Russia’s parliament.

Kadyrov added that he had known Delimkhanov was uninjured from the start of what he called “a fake information attack”, but had remained silent in order to embarrass Ukrainian media outlets which had reported on the commander’s alleged injury.

Delimkhanov, who has an active social media presence, with over half a million followers on Telegram, did not comment.

Dutch Spies Warned CIA of Ukraine’s Plans to Blow Up Nord Stream Pipelines

Three months before the explosion of Nord Stream, the Dutch military intelligence had informed the US spy unit, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), of the Ukrainian plan to blow up the gas pipeline connecting Russia to Germany, a joint report by Dutch and German media claimed.

The report further mentioned that the CIA had later asked Ukraine to ditch the plan.

“The CIA warned Ukraine after receiving an alarming report from the Dutch Military Intelligence Services (MIVD) which heard about the plans via a Ukrainian source,” the Dutch NOS public broadcaster reported, in collaboration with German broadcaster ARD and national weekly Die Zeit.

Top Ukrainian general Valerii Zaluzhnyi was allegedly in charge of the operation, the media reported citing Dutch intelligence inputs to the US and added that a small team of divers used a sailing boat to carry out their plan.

UK Doctor Fired For Refusing Trans Pronouns Fights On: ‘Christians Have to Stand Up’

A doctor in the U.K. who said he was fired five years ago for refusing to use a hypothetical patient’s preferred pronouns is continuing his battle to overturn his dismissal.

Dr. David Mackereth, a physician with the U.K.’s Department for Work and Pensions, said there was “no living or real patient involved” when he stated his sincerely-held views on gender.

The doctor said he knew there would be a cost for openly sharing his perspective, but felt he had to stand by his Christian beliefs regardless. Within weeks, Mackereth was dismissed from his position.

Russia Boasts it Has Captured Knocked-Out American, German-Made Armour as ‘Our Trophies’

Russian Ministry of Defence / Collage

Russia claims it has now “seized” several Western-made armoured vehicles, some allegedly in working order, during battles with Ukrainian forces as part of its widely-condemned invasion of the country.

Western armour in the hands of the Ukrainian army has engaged with Russian forces for the first time in the past week as part of the long-discussed spring counteroffensive.

While Ukraine has hailed its first victories in retaking several of its own villages from Russian occupation, this appears to have come at a price as a series of images purporting to show the modern equipment supplied to the country by NATO allies being knocked out.

In the latest case, the Russian Ministry of Defence gloated over alleged footage taken by their soldiers on the front inspecting a group of vehicles, saying in their statement on the matter “now these are our trophies”.

Russia Has Lost 54 Tanks in Ukrainian Counter Offensive Says Putin in Rare Admission of Losses

Getty Images

Pro-Kremlin journalists and war bloggers had an intimate personal briefing by Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, which stood out for Western observers perhaps less for its discussion of social benefits for Russian servicemen or grain exports and more for what could be a frank admission of military losses.

In comments made before cameras and even repeated on Russian state media, Putin said the country had lost 54 tanks in the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Putin placing a hard number of 54 tanks — even if he also said that some of those could be restored and repaired — is unusual given it comes from a norm where the Kremlin only normally makes claims about enemy losses. With this in mind, it is not surprising that Putin appended his comments on Russian losses of armour with — probably inflated — assertions about the number of Ukrainian tanks his forces had destroyed.

Compared to his 54, Ukraine had lost 150 tanks and 350 other armoured vehicles in the ten days of the counteroffensive, Putin claimed, continuing to assert this means Ukraine would have lost “about 25%, maybe 30% of all the vehicles that were provided [to Ukraine] from abroad.”

‘Perplexing on so many levels’: Shooter in US found not guilty despite video evidence

It’s “perplexing” that a man in the US has been found not guilty of attempted murder and assaulting a sheriff’s deputy despite video evidence seeming to contradict this, says Sky News commentator Prue MacSween.

“Is it because the person isn’t BLM, is it something to do with his ethnicity that they’re letting him get away with it?”, Ms MacSween told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

Politics:

Gaetz demands DOJ provide all records from special counsel Jack Smith’s office

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is demanding access to all records pertaining to the office of special counsel Jack Smith, accusing the Justice Department official of unfairly targeting former President Donald Trump by exerting partisan influence.

In a letter sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday, Gaetz requested the DOJ preserve and produce all records from Smith’s office, calling his work “highly irregular and of extraordinary public concern.”

The letter offered a deadline of July 7, although it remains unclear whether Gaetz would pursue punitive measures if the request is not fulfilled.

Rep. Waltz to Newsmax: ‘Blind Eye’ Turned to Biden Docs

“This is a historic matter in our nation to have a sitting president and his Department of Justice prosecuting the leading political opponent and a former president,” the Florida Republican said on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “It is obviously unprecedented in American history, and that alone should merit its coverage.”

Ignoring other cases while focusing on Trump is a mistake, because “precedent matters” in the U.S. judicial system, said Waltz.

Waltz noted that when President Bill Clinton was found to have classified tapes, a judge cited the Presidential Records Act.

With Biden, “you have [Clinton’s] former national security adviser Sandy Berger break into the National Archives and steal original classified documents and destroy them,” said Waltz. “You have [Biden’s] sitting national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, who was Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, emailing highly classified documents and gets promoted to be the national security adviser.

The Senator then asked “Deputy Director Abbate, is it true that the FBI has a report making those allegations?”

“I’m not going to comment on that, Senator,” Abbate responded.

“You don’t owe the American people an obligation to be candid about evidence of corruption by the President of the United States?”Cruz fired back.

Cruz attempted several more times to get Abbate to comment, but the FBI Deputy Director stated “this is an area that I’m not going to get into with you, senator.”

Exclusive: GOP Lawmakers Question Who Gave Joe Biden’s Corporation Nearly $10M in 2017

Drew Angerer/Getty Images

Before the 2020 election, USA Today published a “fact check” article that tried to support the claims that the Bidens earned “$15.6 million … from speaking fees and book deals” from 2017 to 2019, and that “more than $10 million of that total income was profits from Biden’s memoir ‘Promise Me, Dad’ and $3 million in profits from Jill Biden’s book.”

But a closer look at Joe Biden’s 2017 tax returns raises eyebrows. “Follow the source link provided to that $10 million number, though, and you’ll end up at Joe Biden’s campaign website with financial disclosure links to only their individual returns — no S-corporation tax returns,” the Federalist critiqued USA Today. “So, in reality, readers were left with a smokescreen.”

The so-called “smokescreen” raised alarm for Republican lawmakers, causing them to demand transparency about the nearly $10 million sum from the passthrough entity.

House to vote on censuring, investigating and possibly fining Adam Schiff over Trump impeachment

The censure would be “for conduct that misleads the American people in a way that is not befitting an elected Member of the House of Representatives,” the resolution filed by Luna states.

“Whereas the American taxpayers paid $32 million to fund the investigation into collusion that was launched as a result of Representative Schiff’s lies, misrepresentations, and abuses of sensitive information … if it is determined by an investigation conducted by the Committee on Ethics that Representative Schiff lied, made misrepresentations, and abused sensitive information, he should be fined in the amount of $16,000,000,” the resolution also states.
