COVID-Vaccinated More Likely to Be Hospitalized: CDC Data

(Paul White/AP Photo)

COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness against hospitalization turned negative over time, according to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data presented on June 15.

The effectiveness against hospitalization plummeted to negative 8 percent for people who received one of the old COVID-19 vaccines, according to data from a CDC-run hospital network.

A dose of one of the updated bivalent vaccines moved the protection above zero, to 29 percent, but the protection fell back to negative 8 percent beyond 89 days, the data show.

Supreme Court Upholds Law Aimed at Preventing Non-Indian Families From Adopting Native American Children

(Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)

The June 15 decision is a victory for the Biden administration, which argued in favor of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), which was enacted by Congress in 1978 to prevent non-Indian families from adopting Native American children.

The Indian tribes had argued that the statute was concerned with the political status of Native Americans, as opposed to their race, and that Congress’s determination that the ICWA was needed to assure the continued existence of the tribes ought to be respected.

Respondents Chad and Jennifer Brackeen, a white evangelical Christian couple in Texas, tried to adopt a Native American child. An appellate court upheld the ICWA, finding that Indian families are entitled to enjoy preference in the adoption process.

The Brackeens argued that the ICWA denied them their constitutional right to equal protection.

Although in 2020 there were over 11,000 Native American children in state foster care, “there are fewer than 2,000 Native American foster homes,” McGill said at the time.

“That means each year hundreds, if not thousands, of Indian children are placed in non-Indian foster homes, and sometimes there they bond with those families. Yet, when those families try to adopt those children, ICWA rears its head for a second time, allowing tribes to play the proverbial ICWA trump card at the eleventh hour,” the lawyer said.

Reports: Laced pills from Mexican pharmacies ‘broad’ problem

(U.S. Attorneys Office for Utah via AP)

The Los Angeles Times in February reported that pharmacies in several northwestern Mexico cities were selling meth as Adderall, as well as fentanyl disguised as Percocet and other opioid painkillers.

Now, after four more months of investigation, the publication says the problem is “much broader” than previously understood.

“It’s not just stray pills laced with dangerous substances,” the L.A. Times wrote, “but sometimes entire bottles that appear to be factory sealed.”

And reporters with the newspaper found that it’s happening in tourist hot spots across the country: “from the California border to the Yucatán Peninsula and from the southernmost edge of Texas to the Pacific Coast.”

Enough fentanyl to kill more than 2M seized in San Francisco

Newsom deployed CHP officers to the city on May 1, 2023 with a particular focus on the Tenderloin, a neighborhood that has long been known for drug use and crime. Officers seized 4.2 kilos of fentanyl, enough to kill 2.1 million people, almost three times the population of San Francisco. The drugs were seized in the Tenderloin and surrounding areas.

Within the first six weeks of the operation, CHP also seized more than 957 grams of methamphetamine, 319 grams of cocaine and 31 grams of heroin.

They also made 92 arrests for felony and misdemeanor crimes, including charges related to drug possession, illegal firearms, driving under the influence and domestic violence.

According to police, paramedics received a report Tuesday that the Americans were unconscious in their room. They were dead by the time paramedics arrived. The suspected cause of death was inhalation of gas.

There have been several cases of such deaths in Mexico due to poisoning by carbon monoxide or other gases. Such gases are often produced by improperly vented or leaky water heaters and stoves.

In October, three U.S. citizens found dead at a rented apartment in Mexico, apparently victims of gas inhalation.

55% of TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram users get news from influencers NOT journalists: study

The numbers were based on interviews with 94,000 people across 46 different countries around the world. The study was carried out by Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, which is a part of Britain’s University of Oxford.

The report stated: “While mainstream journalists often lead conversations around news in Twitter and Facebook, they struggle to get attention in newer networks like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.”

The report also highlighted people such as Britain’s Matt Welland, who apparently talks about current events to his 2.8 million subscribers on TikTok. The lead author of the study also mentioned that celebrities have also gained ground on these platforms, such as Marcus Rashford, who campaigned to get free school meals for children in poor families, per the report.

Reuters Institute Director Rasmus Nielsen said in the report: “There are no reasonable grounds for expecting that those born in the 2000s will suddenly come to prefer old-fashioned websites, let alone broadcast and print, simply because they grow older.”

The Bidens ‘Coerced’ Burisma To Pay $10 Million In Bribes, Says Credible FBI Source

ADAM SCHULTZ/THE WHITE HOUSE/FLICKR

In the FD-1023 from June 30, 2020, the confidential human source summarized earlier meetings he had with Zlochevsky. According to the CHS, in the 2015-2016 timeframe, the CHS, who was providing advice to Zlochevsky, told the Burisma owner to stay away from the Bidens.

Then, after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential contest, the CHS asked Zlochevsky if he was upset Trump won.

Zlochevsky allegedly told the CHS he was dismayed by Trump’s victory, fearing an investigation would reveal his payments to the Biden family, which included a $5 million payment to Hunter Biden and a $5 million payment to Joe Biden.

According to the CHS, the Burisma executive bemoaned the situation, claiming the Bidens had “coerced” him into paying the bribes.

‘USA Are My Pronouns:’ Middle Schoolers Rebel Against Pride Month Indoctrination

On June 2, students at Marshall Simonds Middle School reportedly disrupted the school’s so-called “spirit day” celebration for Pride Month, which was sponsored by the school’s Spectrum Club, an LGBT student group.

But some students reportedly reacted by tearing down the banners and signs, behavior that the Marshall Simonds Middle School principal referred to as “inappropriate.”

Other students chanted, “USA are my pronouns” in the hallways, and wore red, white, and blue clothing and face paint instead of the suggested rainbow-colored attire, the letter added.

Middle school administrators responded by calling the students’ actions “completely unacceptable,” and said it was “demeaning” to other students while also likening it to violence.

MSNBC, CNN anchors blasted as ‘DNC propagandists’ after clips used in pro-Biden ad

Clips of MSNBC and CNN anchors were spliced into a pro-Biden ad released by the Democratic National Committee — prompting harsh criticism who said that the news organizations were acting as mouthpieces for the administration.

Glenn Greenwald, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, reacted on Wednesday to an ad released by the DNC showing several anchors and commentators from the two news networks.

Some of the responses on Twitter to the DNC ad were scathing.

“Their bias is excruciatingly obvious,” tweeted one critic.

Another Twitter user remarked: “They are absolutely pathetic.”

WATCH: Migrants in Eagle Pass, Texas, try to outrun border law enforcement

EAGLE PASS, Texas (Border Report) — With stricter asylum rules in place at the southern border, more migrants crossing into the border town of Eagle Pass are trying to evade and run from law enforcement, Border Report has learned.

During a ride along with deputies from the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office this week, Border Report did not see the usual asylum-seeking families or individuals turning themselves in after crossing the river, but did witness a chase, and saw debris like empty water bottles, shoes and backpacks and other evidence that people are crossing in the brush and trying not to get caught.

The 18-year-old man said he was from Honduras and was coming to work. But he gave different names and had two ID’s with different names. When Sanchez asked his name, he stumbled and mixed them up.

He was wet and muddy, and after he was put in the back of the pickup, Sanchez went to the drainage tunnel to look for other migrants.

Chinese Hackers Breached Hundreds of Public and Private Networks, Investigation Concludes

(AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein, File)

Suspected state-backed Chinese hackers used a security hole in a popular email security appliance to break into the networks of hundreds of public and private sector organizations globally, nearly a third of them government agencies, including foreign ministries, cybersecurity firm Mandiant said Thursday.

“This is the broadest cyber espionage campaign known to be conducted by a China-nexus threat actor since the mass exploitation of Microsoft Exchange in early 2021,” Charles Carmakal, Mandiant’s chief technical officer, said.

The hack exploited a software vulnerability in Barracuda Networks’ Email Security Gateway, compromising tens of thousands of computers globally.

Russia again presses UN Security Council on Nord Stream blast inquiry

Russia failed in March to get the U.N. Security Council to ask for an independent inquiry. Only Russia, China and Brazil voted in favour of the Russian-drafted text, while the remaining 12 council members abstained.

“We will seek international investigation and punishment of those who are behind this crime,” Russia’s Deputy U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy told reporters after raising the issue behind closed doors in the 15-member council on Thursday.

“We are now thinking about how we’re going to pursue this course. Nothing is excluded in this regard,” said Polyanskiy, adding Russia could continue raising the issue in the Council to make clear it is “not satisfied.”

Nigel Farage says ‘climate lockdowns’ could be next step in London mayor’s net-zero carbon plan

“He’s telling us don’t use your car unnecessarily. No engine idling, no burning of wood or waste. Mark my words: This isn’t going to end with 20-mile-an-hour zones and low traffic neighborhoods.

No, no. This is the beginning of climate lockdown. We will have, in years to come, days when we’re told we can’t drive. ‘We can’t do this; we can’t do that.’”

“Remember, you’ve heard it here first: climate lockdowns,” Firage said.

However, the climate is not the only subject that Khan has addressed. Leaked documents recently revealed that Khan has asked his staff not to use gender-specific language, such as “ladies and gentleman,” per LBC. It was also reported that officials working under Khan were not to use the word “illegal” when talking about migrants in the country.

According to the leaked documents, the words “men” and “women” are “dated and medicalised.”

Christian in Pakistan Given Death Penalty Over Blasphemy as Persecution Expert Reveals Awful Details

David Curry, CEO of Global Christian Relief, told CBN’s Faithwire “Pakistan has some of the most difficult and stringent blasphemy laws in the world.”

He described these regulations as “vigilante-type laws” that open the door to false accusations against Christians and other groups — claims that can lead to the death penalty.

“[It] allows anybody to accuse somebody else of blasphemy within the Islamic law,” he said.

UPDATE: South Juarez neighborhood becomes migrant killing field

The murders could be the tip of the iceberg of widespread, greed-fueled violence against vulnerable migrants from Central and South America and even rural Mexico, a Juarez immigration lawyer says.

“They kidnap the ones they find on the streets. They find out if they have family members in the United States and they call them to demand ransom.

If they don’t pay that ransom, they kill them,” said Jorge Vazquez Campbell, who also heads a nonprofit that advocates for the legal rights of refugees passing through Mexico.

The missing men, some of whom allegedly had been picked up by Mexican immigration authorities, turned up dead last June. He described the manner of death as sadistic, with people being victims of extreme violence and then strangled with a rope or the cord of an electrical appliance.

The relatives of some of the victims paid ransoms of up to $15,000 and they were still killed, Vazquez Campbell said, raising a troubling scenario he believes to be true.

“Why do they kill them even after their family pays the ransom? Because the kidnappers don’t want to be identified because some of them are police officers,” he said.

New Evidence Of Chinese Military ‘Shadow Labs’ At Wuhan Institute Of Virology

The heavily redacted State Department cable from Aug. 2020, now obtained by the watchdog group U.S. Right To Know, has a section labeled “Cyber Evidence of PLA Shadow Labs at WIV and Bioengineering University.” PLA refers to the People’s Liberation Army, China’s military.

Two other cables obtained by USRTK address the CCP’s focus on “military-civil fusion” research and the way top leadership in Beijing suppressed information in the early days of the pandemic. “Initial Outbreak Could Have Been Contained in China if Beijing Had Not Covered It Up,” the third cable reads.

WIV lead researcher Shi Zhengli, China’s “batwoman” known for her gain-of-function research on bat-based viruses, had previously asserted that there was no classified research happening at her lab, but these cables cast doubt on that claim. Shi was a key collaborator in researching bat-based viruses with Western scientists, including Peter Daszak, co-founder of EcoHealth Alliance.

Cuba, Iran presidents meet in Havana, vow to confront ‘Yankee imperialism’

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel (left) and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi review an honor guard during a welcoming ceremony in Havana on June 15.

“The conditions and circumstances in which Cuba and Iran find themselves today have many things in common,” Raisi said in a conversation with Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel. “Every day our relations grow stronger.”

Top officials signed administrative agreements vowing to boost cooperation between the countries’ ministries of justice, and customs agencies, as well as in telecommunications.

Raisi earlier this week visited with leaders of fellow oil-producer Venezuela, where he pledged to ramp up bilateral trade and expand cooperation in petrochemicals.

Prior to arriving in Cuba, the Iranian president also met with Nicaragua´s Daniel Ortega in the Central American country.

UK mom denied right to see sex ed curriculum being taught to her daughter

However, she said that she is going to continue the fight to make available the course materials used by the School of Sexuality Education, a charity that apparently provides sex education to about 300 schools.

Page’s campaign to have the material released was kicked off after her daughter came home from school, saying that her class had been taught about “sex positivity” and the heteronormativity was “a bad thing,” per the report.

The School of Sexuality Education was supported by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in saying that the charity’s commercial interests in concealing the contents of the course superseded the public interest in making them available to the public. Though Page appealed the decision, the first-tier tribunal upheld the initial decision.

The report noted that Page is currently deliberating, in tandem with legal advice, whether she should pursue the case in taking it to an upper-tier tribunal.

Annecy tragedy: Ex-wife of Syrian knifeman who stabbed children says she tried to warn French security services before attack

The man suspected of wounding six people, including four children, with a knife in the French town of Annecy on June 8 could have been stopped if French security services had heeded the warning of the perpetrator’s ex-wife.

Abdalmasih Hanoun’s ex-wife, who is herself of Syrian origin, says she warned French and Swiss authorities about her former husband months before the attack. However, these authorities ignored her, according to the woman.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, a friend of the wife said: “They should have listened to her when she contacted them. Maybe it could have been stopped. “
