Kevin McCarthy removed as House speaker in unprecedented vote

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was removed from his position as speaker of the House on Tuesday after an unprecedented motion to vacate succeeded for the first time in history.
Eight Republicans voted with all Democrats present to oust McCarthy, after an hour of impassioned debate between those who supported the speaker and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who almost singlehandedly argued the case Tuesday for McCarthy to be removed.
“I’ll make this argument at any desk in this building, from the well, from the chair. I’ll make it on every street corner in this country — that Washington must change,” Gaetz said from a podium on the Democratic side of the chamber, after Republicans would not allow him to speak from their side.
After last-ditch efforts to court Democratic support, House Republicans hadprepared for the likelihood that McCarthywould be removed, according to several lawmakers familiar with the dynamics who spoke on the condition of anonymity to detail sensitive and ongoing conversations.

Iraq Veteran Awarded $2.49M in Texas

A former Texas state trooper, fired after developing a debilitating illness caused by exposure to burn pits while serving in Iraq, was awarded $2.49 million by a jury.
Former Army Capt. Le Roy Torres won a lawsuit last week against the state of Texas for violations of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act, Military.com reported.
A six-person jury in the civil case ruled unanimously in Torres’ favor.
Torres, an Army reservist, and wife Rosie led a decade-long fight for recognition of burn pits as a health risk and landmark legislation to provide benefits for sickened veterans.
Torres filed a lawsuit in 2017 charging that the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) denied his request to remain on the highway patrol force in an administrative capacity. Instead, he said, he was forced to retire, and was denied a disability retirement pension from the state.
Electric truck maker losing $33,000 for every vehicle it sells

The truck can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3 seconds, it has high crash-test ratings and a complicated suspension system that allows for a smoother ride.
The luxury features come at a heavy cost for Rivian, forcing the company to lose money on every vehicle sold in the second quarter as the company has spent half of its $18 billion cash stockpile in two years, “The Wall Street Journal” reported Monday.
Rivian sells three models: the R1T pickup truck, the R1S SUV and Amazon’s electric delivery van.
On top of the expensive sale price, Rivian vehicles can also cost quite a bit to repair. An Ohio man earlier this year said he had to pay more than $42,000 to repair his Rivian truck after a minor fender bender.

Over 100 Survivors Rescued and 160 Arrests Made in North East Ohio Human Trafficking Sting, Including EMTs, Nurses, and Educators (VIDEO)

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced Monday the sweeping success of a weeklong statewide human trafficking operation, aptly named ‘Operation Buyer’s Remorse.’ The operation aimed to arrest individuals attempting to purchase sex and identify survivors of human trafficking.
“Operation Buyer’s Remorse” is a weeklong statewide human trafficking crackdown in Ohio. The operation was led by the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force and local law enforcement agencies.
“Law enforcement across Ohio teamed up in a concerted effort to stem the demand that fuels human trafficking,” Yost said in a press release.
“The success of this operation is measured not only by the number of arrests but also by the resources offered to survivors of human trafficking and the intelligence gathered that will propel long-term investigations forward.”
Last week, reports indicated a massive increase in the number of children going missing in Ohio.

Lara Trump Single Censored on Times Square Billboard, Music Charts

A photo of the cover art for the single showed up in Times Square Friday, without any text — neither her name, nor the name of the song.
Producer at First Class Records, LJ Fino, told Breitbart News the action represents “a clear attempt to stifle and limit the expression of free speech, the bedrock of music,” adding that TSX Entertainment’s political bias is “digging their own grave.”
“I am deeply concerned about the decision by TSX Entertainment to exclude Lara’s last name from her billboard,” Fino told Breitbart News. “This is a clear attempt to stifle and limit the expression of free speech, the bedrock of music. It’s crucial that entertainment corporations leave political bias out of their decision making process; otherwise, I believe they are digging their own grave.”
“Amazon is reporting sales with the UPC (standard barcode) rather than the ISRC, the record’s ‘social security number,’ which is needed for sales to count toward Billboard Charting eligibility,” the message explained.
Apple Music was suppressing visibility of the song on its release day Friday, according to a report in the Daily Mail that included a screenshot of Apple’s search function, where the song cannot be found in “top results” for a query of the exact name of the song.

Pentagon Has Billions Left Over For Ukraine But Not To Replenish US Stocks

The Pentagon still has billions remaining for military assistance to Ukraine after Congress’ stopgap government funding bill omitted any provisions for aid, but concerns remain about the Pentagon’s ability to replenish U.S. stocks, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing Pentagon officials.
Officials said they were not sure how much longer the funding would last, but that the $5.2 billion remaining for drawing down from U.S. weapons stockpiles loosely reflects the amount sent over the past six months, according to the WSJ.
However, an account that provides for replenishment of U.S. stocks has just $1.6 billion left, and officials are concerned it will run out before Congress appropriates more funds.
A separate pot of funding that allows the U.S. to order new equipment from industry for Ukraine, the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, is empty, the officials told the WSJ.
The Biden administration has devoted a total of $43.9 billion to help Ukraine fight off Russian forces since the invasion in February 2022. The funds remaining are about 12% of that total, which appears to be a significant amount, according to the WSJ.

Church roof collapses while parishioners were receiving communion at child’s baptism, leaving 11 dead

Eight adults and three children were killed when the roof of a church collapsed in northeastern Mexico, authorities said.
All the deceased were members of the same family who were attending the christening of a one-year-old child.
About 300 people were in the sanctuary of Ciudad Madero’s Santa Cruz Church for Mass on Sunday, when the roof collapsed, injuring 100 people and trapping dozens.
By Monday night, authorities had cleared the scene, released a death toll, and said no other victims had been found.
Monica Segura, who was standing near the church when its roof fell on Sunday, said the collapse “happened in a matter of seconds” as “the beams fell and immediately the roof fell.”
Bangkok mall shooting: At least 2 killed, 5 injured

At least two people including a female Chinese tourist were shot dead, reportedly by a 14-year-old boy, in the well-known Siam Paragon high-end mall in the heart of Bangkok on Tuesday.
Another person who died at a hospital after being shot in the neck was reported to be Burmese, while the five injured people were sent to Police General, Chulalongkorn and Bangkok Christian hospitals nearby.
The shocking incident in the heart of Bangkok served as a reminder of haunting mass shootings in Thailand’s past.
In October 2022, a man ran into a day-care center in Nong Bua Lamphu province, which borders Laos, and killed 37 people, most of them young children.
EU state warns of ‘difficult’ relations with Ukraine

Poland will not sacrifice its national interests for Ukraine, government spokesman Piotr Muller told Polish Radio on Tuesday, commenting on the ongoing row between the two neighbors over grain exports.
Relations between Kiev and Warsaw will not necessarily be “bad,” but they are likely to be “difficult” in the months to come, he added.
“We know it perfectly well that Ukraine … has its own economic interests, including in the field of agriculture,” Muller said, adding that Polish officials “will not be able and do not want to meet these expectations of Ukraine.”
“We represent the Polish government, not the Ukrainian one,” the spokesman stated. Over the past months, Kiev and Warsaw have been locked in a dispute over Ukrainian agricultural exports, which also resulted in what has now become a diplomatic row.
On Tuesday, Muller denied that Warsaw might freeze diplomatic relations with Kiev altogether but admitted that the coming months are likely to be “difficult” for the two nations. He also branded “some diplomatic gestures” and statements made by Ukraine as “inappropriate.” These concerns have been relayed to Kiev “directly,” he added.
Italy: Bus falls from Venice bridge, at least 20 feared dead

A bus crashed off an overpass near Venice on Tuesday and caught fire on impact near the train tracks below.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica cited local authorities as saying that 21 people were dead, 12 injured and more still unaccounted for.
“A huge tragedy struck our community this evening,” Mayor Luigi Brugnaro said on social media, saying “numerous victims” were on board. “An apocalyptic scene, there are no words.”
The accident occurred near Mestre, a suburb of Venice. Images from the scene seemingly taken from the road above showed a bus lying upside down near a train line, still smouldering.
A city hall spokesperson told the French AFP news agency the victims included two children.
Another Former Wagner Mercenary Recruited From Russian Prison Accused Of Murder

It’s not the first instance of former Wagner mercenaries recruited from jails and prisons across Russia in 2022 being accused of committing serious crimes after completing tours of duty in Ukraine.
In August, former Wagner fighter Igor Sofonov and a man with a criminal record, Maksim Bochkaryov, were arrested on suspicion of stabbing to death five men and a woman and setting two houses on fire in the northwestern region of Karelia.
In May, police in the Krasnodar region arrested former Wagner fighter Demyan Kevorkyan on suspicion of killing two people.
In 2016, the 31-year-old Kevorkyan was sentenced to 18 years in prison for robbery and creating a criminal group. After he spent several months fighting against Ukrainian forces for Russia earlier this year, he was fully exonerated and returned home, where he was subsequently accused of committing murder.
In May, police in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk arrested a man on suspicion of raping two underage girls. Media identified the suspect as former Wagner mercenary Sergei S., giving only the first letter of his last name.
Pakistani Government Orders All Migrants Living In Country Illegally To Leave By November 1

Pakistan has issued an order requiring all people living illegally in the country to leave by November 1. Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfarz Bugti said that businesses and properties of foreign nationals living illegally in Pakistan will be confiscated if they do not leave Pakistan.
Bugti said the crackdown would apply to all nationalities but was not aimed at Afghans, though the vast majority of migrants in the country are Afghans.
A government statement said the new policy was endorsed on October 3 during a high-level meeting of Pakistani political leaders and the country’s powerful military.

Russian Defense Minister Says Moscow Has No Plans For Additional Mobilization For War In Ukraine

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on October 3 that there are no plans for an additional military mobilization for the ongoing invasion of Ukraine, launched in February last year.
According to Shoigu, since January this year, 335,000 people have signed contracts with the armed forces or volunteer units, which is how Russia mostly calls private military groups that often consist of people recruited from penitentiaries.
Shoigu said that in September alone, 50,000 new contracts were signed.
Around 300,000 people were mobilized due to President Vladimir Putin’s decree on a partial mobilization signed in September 2022, which is still valid.

Armenia’s vote to join ICC irks Russia

The Armenian parliament on Tuesday voted to sign up to the International Criminal Court (ICC), a development that is expected to further sour relations with the country’s old ally Russia.
A chasm has opened up between the two countries, with Yerevan angry with the Kremlin over its perceived inaction in a long-standing confrontation between Armenia and fellow post-Soviet state Azerbaijan.
Countries that sign and ratify the Hague-based court’s founding Rome Statute are in theory obliged to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin, indicted for war crimes connected to the deportation of children from Ukraine, if he were to enter their terrritory.
In the parliamentary session, 60 deputies voted in favor while 22, mainly opposition lawmakers, cast their vote against joining the ICC.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan last week tried to soothe Kremlin fears, saying the initiative was not “directed against” Russia.
Whatever the motive, Moscow has already described the parliament’s decision as an affront.

Britain has ‘run out of arms to send to Ukraine’

The military chief said there was no prospect of providing more British tanks to Ukraine.
“We’ve given away pretty much everything we can afford to give,” they added.

“We need them to upgrade them to become Challenger 3. Every tank we give away is one less that we have.”
The growing concerns over Western funding for Ukraine threatened to overshadow what was described as a “historic meeting” of EU foreign ministers in Kyiv.
Iran official admits country’s role in terror bombing that killed 241 US military members: report

For the first time, a senior Iranian official has acknowledged Iran’s role in a series of bombings in Lebanon in the 1980s that claimed the lives of hundreds of Americans.
In an interview with Iran’s state-controlled Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Issa Tabatabai described how he helped establish the Iran-backed Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah and carry out attacks against Americans and Israelis while serving as the representative in Lebanon of the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamist regime in Iran.
“With the victory of the Islamic Revolution [in Iran], Hezbollah was established [in the summer of 1982],” Tabatabai said. “When Israel occupied South Lebanon, we had to launch a movement, and the military movement started in my home … The military courses we had with the Palestinians prompted us to launch the struggle, and from the Imam [Khomeini], I received approval for the struggle against Israel and even the fatwa [ordering] to carry out martyrdom operations [suicide bombings], and he confirmed this three times.”
Tabatabai — who currently serves as Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s official representative in Lebanon — told IRNA that he soon put Khomeini’s fatwa into action.

Ukraine ‘Coup’ Architect Victoria Nuland Privately Met With Biden Before Sending Ukraine Billions In ‘Aid.’

White House Visitor logs reveal that Victoria Nuland held several private meetings with President Joe Biden in the early days of the Russia-Ukraine war, with the dates of these meetings often aligning with the announcement of additional foreign aid or pivotal policy decisions from the White House.
The unearthed meetings follow controversy during Nuland’s tenure as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs under President Barack Obama.
She was caught on tape discussing cutting deals to influence internal Ukrainian politics, appearing to plot strategies to replace elected Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych by installing Artseniy Yatseniuk.
She is believed to have led U.S. efforts to orchestrate a 2014 revolution in Ukraine that ultimately led to President Yanukovych’s ousting.
Data obtained by War Room from the White House Visitor Logs suggest that Nuland has retained a similar influence over President Joe Biden’s Ukraine policy.
Of the White House Visitor Log data that has been made available to the public, Nuland was serving in the role of Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs for her meetings with President Biden. She became Deputy Secretary of State in July 2023, though the White House has yet to release the data from that time period onwards.
Less than two weeks into the onset of conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Nuland held two meeting with President Biden. Records indicate that her March 4th, 2022 and March 7th, 2022 visits were private.

Consulting Firms Linked To Blinken & Nuland Are Advising Ukraine On How To Spend US Foreign Aid.

Consulting firms linked to the White House’s leading Ukraine policy architects – including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland – appear to be advising the Ukrainian government on its reconstruction efforts funded by U.S. taxpayers.
The unearthed connections come amidst over $110 billion being sent to the notoriously corrupt country, with staunch opposition to curtailing the flow of cash or even auditing where the funds are actually being spent.
Strategy papers obtained from these White House-linked consulting firms appear to call for a “multi-decade” continuation of foreign aid to Ukraine, even admitting the war provided a “window of opportunity” to achieve changes that would have been “politically difficult to achieve.”
Nuland, currently a top State Department official believed to be behind U.S. efforts to orchestrate Ukraine’s 2014 Maidan Revolution, was a former Senior Counselor at the Albright Stonebridge Group, a global business strategy firm based in Washington, D.C.
In addition to Nuland, Albright Stonebridge Group counts several high-ranking White House officials linked to Ukraine policy as its alumni: United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, Nominee for Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien.
Despite the robust conflict of interest, Albright Stonebridge appears to be involved in advising on the issue of Ukraine reconstruction. The firm published a white paper -“Land Value Capture Can Finance Ukraine’s Reconstruction, Reduce Corruption, And Boost Productivity” – outlining a variety of economic strategies for rebuilding Ukraine with foreign aid packages, predominantly underwritten by U.S. taxpayers.
Trump Claims AG James Gave Judge ‘False, Corrupt Information’
Former President Donald Trump appeared to turn the focus of his stinging rebuke outside the courtroom door from Justice Arthur Engoron to blistering New York Democrat Attorney General Letitia James before Day 2 of his civil trial in Manhattan.
“He’s been given false information, misleading information, and corrupt information by a very corrupt and incompetent Attorney General Leticia James,” Trump told reporters before entering the courtroom Tuesday. “This woman is grossly incompetent. She ran on the basis, ‘I will get Trump,’ without knowing anything about me.
“So, he’s been given this information that’s now been proven to be false.”
Trump was pointing the appraisals of his properties, which is at the heart of James’ seeking at least $250 million in fines, a permanent ban against Trump and his sons Donald Jr. and Eric from running businesses in New York and a five-year commercial real estate ban against Trump and the Trump Organization.
Trump Campaign: Cancel Third GOP Presidential Debate

“The Republican National Committee should immediately cancel the upcoming debate in Miami and end all future debates in order to refocus its manpower and money on preventing Democrats’ efforts to steal the 2024 election,” said Trump campaign senior advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita in a statement, The Hill reported.
“Anything less, along with other reasons not to cancel, are an admission to the grassroots that their concerns about voter integrity are not taken seriously and national Republicans are more concerned about helping Joe Biden than ensuring a safe and secure election.”
The next Republican presidential debate is scheduled to be held a day after several states hold off-year elections, and GOP presidential candidates will be facing the most stringent requirements yet to take part, The Associated Press reported

Obscure federal commissions and boards funded by taxpayers, contribute to budget bloat and patronage

Though the large federal agencies — like the Departments of Defense and Agriculture — will continue operating, often overlooked are the smaller federal entities — commissions, institutes, and administrations —that continue to receive funding year after year with almost no public attention and can serve as a patronage network for the sitting president using powers granted in Article II of the U.S. Constitution.
In October 2020, a study from the Brookings Institution found that federal “bloat” was at a 60-year high. The report found that federal government layers have increased year over year from the 1990s until the modern day, which each presidential administration adding more.
One difficulty in determining the amount of funding dedicated to the pool of commissions, institutes, and administrations is that “there is no authoritative list of government agencies,” according to the 2012 edition of the Sourcebook of United States Executive Agencies, a project which itself was compiled as an attempt to track the federal bureaucracy.
Alleged Member Of Iranian Influence Operation Went To Biden White House Multiple Times

An alleged member of an Iranian influence operation met with high-level officials at Biden’s White House on at least five separate occasions, according to White House visitor logs.
Ali Vaez, senior advisor at the International Crisis Group and close aide to Biden administration Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley, was reported last week to be a member of the Iranian Experts Initiative (IEI), a group created to bolster Tehran’s global image by recruiting Western scholars and experts to influence U.S. and European media and government.
Vaez traveled to the White House on multiple occasions to meet with senior level officials in the Biden administration as recently as March, visitor logs reveal.
The Washington Free Beacon first reported Vaez’s White House meetings.
“Typically the White House conducts a criminal background check to get into the building, but it’s incumbent on the political and national security staffers to be vetting the people they meet with for foreign influence issues,” Noronha told the DCNF. “In this case, they either ignored that influence, which has been quite evident to many observers and practitioners of Iran policy insiders for years, or they actually were interested in cultivating someone with ties to the regime.”
