The Justice Department on Monday filed notice it plans to appeal and seek harsher prison sentences for five members of the Proud Boys who are already incarcerated for their convictions tied to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

In five separate filings, DOJ indicated it would seek intervention from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to obtain longer sentences for the leaders of the far-right group: Enrique Tarrio, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl, Dominic Pezzola and Ethan Nordean.

DOJ had initially requested more prison time for all five of the Proud Boys members: They’d asked for 33-year sentences for both Tarrio and Biggs; 30 years for Rehl; 27 years for Nordean; and 20 years for Pezzola.

‘Operation: Promised Land’ Rescues 270 Americans From Israel

U.S. citizens evacuated from Israel are seen during a stopover in Porto, Portugal, on their way to Tampa, Florida, on October 15, 2023. Their rescue was part of “Operation: Promised Land.”

Some 270 American evacuees, including 92 children and two dogs, have safely returned to the United States from Israel following the outbreak of violence in the region, a charity established to save civilians from conflict zones has announced.

Project Dynamo, which was established to save American citizens after the U.S. Armed Forces pulled out of Afghanistan in August 2021, said late on Sunday night that a flight from its “Operation: Promised Land” had touched down in Tampa, Florida, around 8 p.m. ET.

Flight tracking shows the EuroAtlantic Boeing 777 aircraft departed Tel Aviv around 10:39 a.m. local time on Sunday morning, stopping in Porto, Portugal, in the early afternoon before continuing on to the U.S. Project Dynamo said it was the charitable organization’s 602nd mission to date.

“We’ve been here for over a week, since the day after the big massacre, and we’re excited to get home, we’re excited to get these people out and we’re excited to pull this operation off,” Bryan Stern, the founder and CEO of Project Dynamo, said while traveling on a bus with the evacuees to the flight in Israel on Sunday morning.

Stern also personally thanked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his assistance in the rescue operation through the signing of an executive order earlier in the week.

South Korea slams ‘deception’ as North Korean arms stream to Russia

An unnamed South Korean defense ministry official told reporters that the North Korean supplies were sizable.

“Considering the containers’ capacity, it would be an amount equivalent to hundreds of thousands of shells, which are in most need by Russia,” the official said.

Separately, North Korean state media on Monday announced that Mr. Lavrov would travel to Pyongyang for two days of talks starting Wednesday.

North Korea has major stockpiles of the Soviet-era munitions still used by Russian forces. Mr. Lavrov’s visit follows one by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who met Mr. Kim in Pyongyang in July, setting the stage for the September 13 meeting between Mr. Putin and Mr. Kim.

Defense analysts here say the shipment appeared to be clearly timed for the major Russian offensive action, after months in which Russian troops were largely holding defensive lines against a slow-moving Ukrainian advance in the south and east.

The air force said the missiles, of which it shot down two, targeted northern and eastern regions, while the drones, of which 11 were downed, were launched in several directions with a particular focus on western Ukraine.

The governor of the eastern region of Poltava, Filip Pronin, said the region had been attacked by drones and missiles, and that three civilians had been hospitalized as a result.

Shin Bet chief: We were unable to thwart Oct. 7 onslaught, responsibility is mine

Ronen Bar, head of the Shin Bet security agency, (Avshalom Sassoni/Flash90)

Several hours before the attack on October 7, the defense establishment identified unusual movement in the Gaza Strip, leading to a late-night phone call between senior officials, but the signs were largely dismissed.

Still, according to Hebrew-language media reports, Bar went to the agency’s headquarters and ordered deploy a small team deployed to the Gaza border, anticipating a small-scale attack.

At least 10 members of the Shin Bet were killed during the attacks on October 7, according to the agency.

“We are in a war, not a round [of fighting]. A round you win with a victory image and silence; a war ends with a decisive victory and a change of situation. There is no border limit, no time limit. Till the very end,” Bar adds.

Rep. Colin Allred To Attend Campaign Fundraiser Hosted By Group With Radical, Anti-Israel Record

Democratic Texas Rep. Colin Allred, who is running for U.S. Senate, is scheduled to attend a Tuesday campaign fundraiser hosted by a group with a radical, anti-Israel record.

The group, J Street, is hosting a “National Leadership Fundraiser” to support Allred and a few other Democrats, such as Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine and New Mexico Sen. Martin Heinrich. J Street has praised the Biden Administration’s decision to give $6 billion dollars to Iran, calling it “good news” in September and praising the Administration’s “tireless, skillful diplomacy.”

Allred is running for Senate against Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

On the invitation, Allred is described as a “J Street champion” and “true all[y] of J Street.”

The fundraiser advertises itself as an opportunity to “get [Allred’s] thinking on the dynamics within the Senate as the Netanyahu government continues to threaten the shared values upon which the US-Israel relationship is grounded.”

EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Cotton Demands DHS ‘Immediately Deport’ Foreign Nationals Who Express Support For Hamas Attacks

Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton sent a letter Monday to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas calling on the agency to deport any foreign nationals, including those on a student visa, who have expressed support for Hamas’ attacks on Israel.

“Federal law is clear that any alien who ‘endorses or espouses terrorist activity or persuades others to endorse or espouse terrorist activity or support a terrorist organization’ is inadmissible and must be deported. Swiftly removing and permanently barring from future reentry any foreign student who signed onto or shared approvingly the anti-Semitic letter from the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee on October 7 would be a good place to start,” Cotton wrote in the letter.

The letter comes as activists and students across the U.S. have blamed Israel over the attacks by the radical Islamic group. Harvard has received ongoing criticism after more than 30 student groups signed a letter blaming Israel for the terrorist attacks.

DHS offers rent payments, medical care, chance at asylum to separated migrant families

(AP Photo/David J. Phillip) **FILE**

The deal, announced Monday, does not include cash payments.

But it does include new rules that would limit future administrations’ ability to bring misdemeanor charges against illegal immigrant parents, as long as they jump the border with their children in tow.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the deal is an attempt to condemn the actions of the Trump administration and to make things right for thousands of parents who were arrested at the border and had their children taken and put into the foster care system.

Those families marked a major change in immigration patterns, with the parents realizing that bringing a child with them was effectively a free pass.

Thanks to court-ordered restrictions, the government could not detain families for deportation, so it had to release them. Once free, the families quickly disappeared into the shadows with little chance of being ousted later.

Truth Social told Fox News Digital that it is a “free, open platform” and “welcomes anyone around the world to join.”

Jordan nabs key nominations for speaker heading into Tuesday vote

Facebook / Rep. Jim Jordan

Mike Rogers, R-Ala., became the center of controversy over the weekend after news broke that he was reportedly considering working with Democrats to elect Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries given the Republican party’s inability to pick a speaker so far.

By Monday morning, Rogers publicly endorsed Jordan.

“[Jordan] and I have had two cordial, thoughtful, and productive conversations over the past two days,” Rogers wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “We agreed on the need for Congress to pass a strong NDAA, appropriations to fund our government’s vital functions, and other important legislation like the Farm Bill.

“Since I was first elected to the House, I have always been a team player and supported what the majority of the Republican Conference agrees to,” he added.

Jordan, who sent out a letter to fellow Republicans Monday calling to bring the party together, responded on X, thanking Rogers for the endorsement.

Hundreds of 2020 election voter registration forms from Michigan appear fraudulent

These forms were part of an investigation that the FBI took over, but what happened since remains mostly a mystery.

After the FBI took over the case from the Muskegon and Michigan police, contacts between local law enforcement and the FBI continued into 2022, but there is no evidence of what happened after that in the memos obtained by Just the News through requests made under Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act.

Last month, the FBI denied a Freedom of Information request from Just the News regarding records from the investigation into GBI Strategies.

The FBI’s response partially reads: “The material you requested is located in an investigative file which is exempt from disclosure.”

Trump Seeks to Disprove Claims in Steele Dossier

He is seeking compensation for “personal and reputational damage and distress,” which Trump’s lawyers say were caused by the “false, intrusive and damaging allegations about (his) personal life.”

Trump’s lawyer Hugh Tomlinson told London’s High Court: “President Trump brings this case because he seeks vindication of his legal rights.”

Trump wants to prove that the “shocking and scandalous claims” in the Steele dossier are false and “intends to discharge that burden by giving evidence in this court,” Tomlinson said.

Judge Imposes Limited Gag Order on Trump in Election Case

(Getty Images)

Special counsel Jack Smith’s team had raised alarm about a barrage of statements disparaging prosecutors, the judge and prospective witnesses.

Those comments, prosecutors said, risked undermining public confidence in the court system and causing witnesses or people who might be picked as jurors for trial to feel harassed and intimidated.

Chutkan said there would be no restrictions on statements criticizing the Justice Department generally or statements about Trump’s belief that the case is politically motivated.

The judge said Trump can’t mount a “smear campaign” against prosecutors and court personnel.

James Comer: Joe Biden Potentially Kept Sensitive Docs About Family Business Involvement with Foreign Countries

Hur, appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, is investigating Biden for the mishandling of classified material; this relates to his possession of documents from when he was vice president.

As part of his probe, he reportedly interviewed the president last week for two hours. Comer apparently suspects Hur could possess information that links Biden’s document scandal to his family’s foreign dealings.

“President Biden’s retention of certain classified documents begs the question as to why he kept these particular materials,” Comer also wrote. He added:

Growing Coalition of Republicans Oppose Importing Palestinians to U.S.

Mustafa Hassona/Anadolu via Getty Images

Following the bill’s introduction, a number of Republicans have said they too will oppose importing Palestinians to the U.S.

“Iran should take responsibility for any Palestinian refugees caused by its proxy … war with Israel,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) told the New York Post‘s Jon Levine. “Iran is responsible for the death and destruction — it should be responsible for refugees as well.”

Similarly, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), running in the GOP presidential primary, told a crowd of supporters in Iowa this weekend that the U.S. “cannot accept people from Gaza into this country as refugees.”

The Republicans’ opposition comes as Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-CA) told the Post the U.S. must “welcome” Palestinians because “fifty percent of the population in Gaza are children.”

The U.S. already gives green cards to more than a million legal immigrants annually — a policy that is set to bring the nation’s foreign-born population to an unprecedented 50 million, likely by the end of the year.
