A Gigantic New ICBM Will Take US Nuclear Missiles Out of the Cold War-Era But Add 21st-Century Risks

The control stations for America’s nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles have a sort of 1980s retro look, with computing panels in sea foam green, bad lighting and chunky control switches, including a critical one that says “launch.”
Those underground capsules are about to be demolished and the missile silos they control will be completely overhauled. A new nuclear missile is coming, a gigantic ICBM called the Sentinel. It’s the largest cultural shift in the land leg of the Air Force’s nuclear missile mission in 60 years.

Israel Prepares for War Against Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon

National security minister Tzachi Hanegbi told Israeli media this weekend that unless diplomacy succeeds in convincing Iran to move its terror proxy back to the Litani River, some 18 miles north of the border, as required by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, war is likely:
Local residents who have been evacuated say that they will not return to their communities unless Hezbollah withdraws, fearing that what happened to the largely agricultural communities near Gaza on October 7 could happen to them if Hezbollah attacks.
The Times of Israel reported Monday that Benny Gantz, a former military leader and current leader of the Israeli opposition, who serves in Israel’s emergency government of national unity, told U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken that war against Lebanon is likely.

Two teenage girls arrested in brutal beating of Jewish woman in suspected hate crime

Police have said there is “significant concern” that the victim in the case, a 20-year-old Jewish woman, was targeted in the attack because of her appearance, which could potentially be investigated as a hate crime, according to a report from The Sun.
The reported arrests come after the violent assault was captured by surveillance cameras and publicized on social media by Shomrim, a Jewish neighborhood watch group.

Special counsel asks Supreme Court to quickly decide Trump’s immunity claims

Smith said a quick ruling by the Supreme Court is necessary because the case is essentially frozen while a potentially lengthy appeals process is underway.
If allowed to do so, the process could push the trial date beyond the 2024 presidential election, in which Trump is the frontrunner to again win the Republican Party nomination.
In making the unusual request, Smith cited the example of President Richard Nixon‘s refusal to turn over secret White House tape recordings sought by the special prosecutor in the Watergate investigation. In that 1974 case, the Supreme Court expedited the proceedings at the “certiorari” stage due to its national importance.
Javier Milei eliminates half of Argentina’s government ministries on first day as president

Javier Milei, Argentina’s new libertarian president, has wasted no time amputating various bureaucratic tentacles.

Milei reiterated part of his plan in a video that went viral ahead of the election.
Polish PM loses no-confidence vote as Donald Tusk set to take over

PiS has already conceded defeat, with party president Jaroslaw Kaczynski blaming the outcome of the no-confidence vote on a broader ‘smear campaign’ against the group.
“The prime minister achieved great successes for our government,” Kaczynski asserted after the vote. “I think there was a social misunderstanding, but that’s democracy. We accept it, but we will fight. The campaign against PiS has convinced a significant part of our society that the imaginary reality is real.”
He also appeared to hint at potential external meddling in Morawiecki’s downfall, stating that his “dream” was for Poland to have politicians who do not act “for the benefit of foreign countries.”
Jonathan Turley Suggests There’s One Witness Who Could Help Trump in Fraud Case

In commenting on these recent developments, Turley said “Trump likely made the decision at the behest of his lawyers, who are likely happy with the record Trump created,” according to the Daily Caller.
Turley added:
“What’s going to happen next is maybe some of the most interesting parts of the trial because there are still some rebuttal witnesses and one defense witness that many of us are interested in. And that defense witness is Professor Bartov, who is an NYU professor. And he gave a very strong testimony in favor of the Trump defense and said that he did not see evidence of accounting fraud in any of these documents.”
In a blow to the prosecution, last Thursday, Eli Bartov, a professor of accounting at NYU and ‘expert witness,’ testified that though there may be some “errors in calculation” in Trump’s financial disclosures, there is” no evidence whatsoever for any accounting fraud.”
