NIH ends funding for research using aborted fetal tissue

The National Institutes of Health announced on Thursday that it would end federal funding for research using aborted fetal tissue.
The policy will apply to all NIH grants, cooperative agreements, transaction awards, research and development contracts, and the NIH Intramural Research Program, the Daily Wire reported.
The NIH said that the policy is part of the Trump administrationโs efforts to โmodernize biomedical science and accelerate innovation.โ
โNIH is pushing American biomedical science into the 21st century,โ NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya said Thursday. โThis decision is about advancing science by investing in breakthrough technologies more capable of modeling human health and disease. Under President Trumpโs leadership, taxpayer-funded research must reflect the best science of today and the values of the American people.โ
The NIH funded 77 projects using human fetal tissue during Fiscal Year 2024, a figure that declined steadily since 2019, according to the NIH. Scientific advances offer alternatives in tissue chips, computational biology, and organoids.
Bhattacharya told the media outlet that the use of human fetal tissue from aborted babies has been argued over for years, putting โa large part of the populationโ in an ethical quandary.
โNow that there is better technology, thereโs no scientific harm to this, weโre still going to be able to use the science we need โฆ while at the same time getting rid of this use of aborted fetal tissue which so many people, including me, find morally abhorrent,โ Bhattacharya said..

ICE’s ‘Catch of the Day’ operation gets underway in Maine

Federal immigration authorities have descended on Maine as part of President Donald Trump’s nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said they have launched โOperation Catch of the Day,โ a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in Maine “targeting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens who have terrorized communities.” More than 50 “illegal aliens” have been arrested since the operation got underway on Tuesday, a federal agency said.
โGovernor Mills and her fellow sanctuary politicians in Maine have made it abundantly clear that they would rather stand with criminal illegal aliens than protect law-abiding American citizens,” Tricia McLaughlin, assistant DHS secretary, said in a statement.
McLaughlin said on Wednesday authorities arrested “illegal aliens charged and convicted of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.” Those detained included Dominic Ali, a Sudanese national convicted on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault, obstructing justice, and violation of a protective order, according to the federal agency.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are no longer allowing criminal illegal aliens to terrorize American citizens,” McLaughlin said…

Googleโs new motto: Donโt be Christian

Google โ and it is far from alone โ leans hard left. It dislikes conservative and Christian content, and it has learned how to suppress it without leaving fingerprints. It buries the content in search rankings so that almost no one sees it unless they already know where to look. It throttles monetization. It blocks ads with vague warnings and โpolicyโ language designed to end the conversation.
Google and TikTok now appear to be doing the same thing to faith-based content.
Have you heard of TruPlay? Probably not. Thatโs the point.
TruPlay is an entertainment app that offers faith-based games and videos for kids. Itโs explicitly family-friendly โ no sexual themes, no violence, no garbage disguised as โcontent.โ Parents want that. Millions of them. Thereโs a market for wholesome screen time, and thereโs money to be made providing it.
But according to the American Center for Law and Justice, Google has refused to do business with TruPlay for ideological reasons. The ACLJ says Google rejected TruPlayโs efforts to launch advertising campaigns, citing โreligious belief in personalized advertising.โ
Read that again. Google flagged religious belief as the problem.
The ACLJ says TruPlay tried to comply, filing appeals and revising its ad content repeatedly, only to receive the same rejection notices no matter what changes it made. The ads werenโt inflammatory. They were straightforward: โTurn Game Time into God Time,โ โChristian Games for Kids,โ โSafe Bible Games for Kids.โ
Googleโs policy supposedly prohibits โselecting an audience based on sensitive information, such as health information or religious beliefs.โ But TruPlay wasnโt targeting a religious audience or harvesting private data. It was advertising Christian kidsโ content to the general public.
Googleโs response wasnโt โyouโre targeting.โ It was โyour content is too sensitive to advertise.โ…
