Feds Bankroll Male Birth Control Pill As Fertility Rates Collapse

Press briefing titled Federal Funding Advisory: Male Contraception Initiative, with fertility collapse chart, AI image.
A stylized government briefing presents a male contraception initiative alongside a dramatic fertility-rate chart.

Taxpayers are bankrolling the development of a male birth control pill designed to be popped 30 minutes before sex โ€” another pharmaceutical intervention into human reproduction at a moment when Western fertility is in free fall and the family unit is under sustained pressure.

Pharmacologists Dr. Jochen Buck and Dr. Lonny Levin at Weill Cornell Medicine have received a multimillion-dollar grant from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to begin human safety trials on their experimental contraceptive, according to Newsweek.

The four-year award is the third government grant the pair has pulled down since 2020.

The pill works by inhibiting an enzyme called soluble adenylyl cyclase, or sAC, which is essential for sperm motility. Take the pill, the sperm stop swimming for six to eight hours, then fertility supposedly returns to normal.

Buck told Newsweek the inhibitor “keeps the enzyme off even after the sperm are ejaculated into the woman,” meaning those sperm cannot travel deep enough to fertilize an egg. Levin framed it simply: without the enzyme, “men are infertile because while they ejaculate normally, their sperm do not travel.”

The institutional pitch is familiar.

Newsweek leaned heavily on the burden-sharing argument, quoting Yale associate professor Jean-Ju Chung, who said roughly a third of women abandon hormonal contraceptives within the first year due to side effects.

“We need options that act before fertilization, that do not ask a healthy person to take hormones continuously, and that let men share the responsibility,” Chung said.

The CDC data point โ€” 40 percent of U.S. pregnancies are unplanned โ€” was presented as the moral imperative for yet another pharmaceutical fix.

What neither the researchers nor the coverage grappled with is the landscape into which this pill would arrive.

The United States fertility rate sits at roughly 1.66 births per woman, well below replacement level of 2.1.

The family structure that built and sustained this country is fraying โ€” and the pharmaceutical industry, having spent decades disrupting women’s hormonal systems with contraceptives whose side effects Chung herself catalogs, now eyes men as its next market. …

Exclusive โ€” Melania Trump Secures Localized Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire, Senior Adviser Calls It โ€˜Meaningful Step Toward Lasting Peaceโ€™

First lady Melania Trump

Marc Beckman, exclusive senior adviser to First Lady Melania Trump, told Breitbart News, โ€œFirst Lady Melania Trump successfully secured a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, localized to the city of Oleshky.

Humanitarian aid, including medicine, food, clean water, and medical personnel, will begin entering the city on October 29, 2026. Furthermore, planning for the evacuation of civilians will commence.โ€

โ€œFirst Lady Melania Trumpโ€™s accomplishment is significant, as it represents a meaningful step toward lasting peace in this war-torn region,โ€ Beckman continued. โ€œI applaud Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation in providing critical humanitarian relief to the people of Oleshky.โ€

The agreement, announced October 23 by the Office of the First Lady, will temporarily suspend all military action within Oleshky, where residents face ongoing fighting, limited access to essential supplies, and dangerous conditions caused by the war.

โ€œThe situation in Oleshky is dire. Oleshky is a front-line war city on the brink of disaster,โ€ Melania Trump said. โ€œOleshkyโ€™s remaining population is comprised primarily of elderly residents who urgently need medical attention, medicine, food, and clean water.โ€

โ€œThe people of Oleshky have limited electricity, live amid mined roads, and endure regular military attacks,โ€ she continued. โ€œIt was abundantly clear that without my intervention, the possibility to bring humanitarian aid into the city and to evacuate the elderly would be impossible.โ€

According to the announcement, Melania Trump and her representative worked directly with Russian and Ukrainian leadership to establish the terms of the localized ceasefire.

Serving in the formal role of โ€œExclusive Intermediary,โ€ the first lady initiated discussions with both countries and helped coordinate the agreementโ€™s objectives, logistical procedures, implementation timeline, and terms. …

Why the 2026 Midterms Could Defy History | Victor Davis Hanson Daily Brief

Could the 2026 midterm elections defy more than a century of American political history?

Victor Davis Hanson breaks down the biggest wildcards facing Donald Trump and the Republican Party ahead of the 2026 midterms, from historical voting patterns and questionable polling predictions to voter turnout, Democratic Senate candidates, and divisions within the conservative movement.

In this edition of Victor Davis Hanson: Daily Highlights, Hanson examines the challenges facing Republicans in key Senate races, including Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, and Maine. He explains why the president’s party has historically struggled during midterm elections and what could make 2026 different.

Hanson also discusses the controversy surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar, including allegations about her finances and immigration history, while emphasizing questions that remain unresolved.

The conversation turns to Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, reports of paid political influencers, his primary contest against Jasmine Crockett, and whether his political positions will resonate with Texas voters.

Hanson also weighs in on Sen. Elissa Slotkin’s comments about future accountability for Trump administration officials, revisiting political investigations involving Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump.

Finally, Hanson examines the war between Russia and Ukraine, questioning the West’s long-term strategy and explaining why Trump may be seeking a negotiated settlement with Vladimir Putin.

FDA Official Urged Fatal Myocarditis Warning on COVID Vaccine Labels 10 Months Ago. It Was Never Added

A U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) safety official recommended adding a warning about fatal myocarditis to mRNA COVID-19 vaccine labels in December 2025, after an agency review identified several pediatric deaths as possibly or probably related to vaccination.

A U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) safety official recommended adding a warning about fatal myocarditis to mRNA COVID-19 vaccine labels in December 2025, after an agency review identified several pediatric deaths as possibly or probably related to vaccination.

More than 10 months later, the agency hasnโ€™t added the warning.

According to documents obtained by investigative journalist Paul D. Thacker, an FDA pharmacovigilance expert โ€” Dr. Meghna Alimchandani โ€” emailed agency leadership on Dec. 5, 2025, formally recommending that a warning for fatal myocarditis be added to mRNA COVID-19 vaccine labels.

Her recommendation followed an internal memo from Dr. Vinay Prasad, then-head of the FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER). The memo, later leaked to The New York Times, revealed that agency researchers had initially identified โ€œno fewer than 10โ€ child or teen deaths tied to vaccine-induced myocarditis.

However, documents released in June by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) showed that a month after CBER identified the 10 child deaths, it reduced the number of deaths to seven and downgraded the probability that the vaccines were directly responsible.

Several former FDA officials told RealClearInvestigations that the leaked memos and documents โ€” along with reporting by The New York Times and other news outlets โ€” โ€œappears to have unsettled the FDAโ€™s safety office,โ€ leading the agency to reduce the number of child deaths that it linked to the COVID-19 shots.

In May 2025, the FDA directed Pfizer and Moderna to strengthen their COVID-19 vaccine label warnings by expanding the age group at risk for vaccine-related myocarditis and pericarditis and warning that myocardial injury can be lasting โ€” but the warning about fatal outcomes has never been added.

Thacker suggested that overlapping political, pharmaceutical and media interests may have led to the FDA decision not to add the warning.

He attributed the lack of action partly to the Trump administrationโ€™s investment in Operation Warp Speed, which accelerated vaccine development in 2020, and to what he describes as the Biden administrationโ€™s reluctance to publicize findings that could undermine its vaccination policies.

Drug safety advocate Kim Witczak, a former member of the FDA Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory Committee, told The Defender that the warning label issue should not be partisan.

โ€œThis isnโ€™t about Republicans or Democrats, Trump, Biden or RFK Jr., itโ€™s about the American publicโ€™s right to know,โ€ Witczak said. โ€œIf FDA scientists identified credible evidence of fatal myocarditis and recommended updating the COVID vaccine labels, why hasnโ€™t that happened? Who made that decision?โ€ …

The DSA Plans To Incite Nationwide Violence Ahead Of 2028 Election

Over on X, DataRepublicanโ€™s reporting on documents and recordings from the Democratic Socialists of America and allied networks lays out a calculated strategy for the run-up to the 2028 elections.

The goal is sustained mass violence and street clashes designed to push President Donald Trump into invoking the Insurrection Act.

Once invoked, Democratic governors and progressive organizations would treat the order itself as evidence of โ€œfascismโ€ and a reason to undermine federal authority.

Groups including the United Democracy Alliance, invoking Erica Chenowethโ€™s 3.5 percent rule, appear ready to coordinate the street actions, legal support, and media framing.

Neville Roy Singham, operating from Shanghai and connected to the Chinese Communist Partyโ€™s United Front Work Department, is positioned to amplify the disruption from abroad.

The plan assumes Trump will choose immediate order over patience, and hand his opponents the optics they have prepared. Whether that assumption holds depends on the costs of each path.

Policing power in America is overwhelmingly local. The FBI fields about 13,700 special agents nationwide. The New York Police Department alone has more than 34,700 sworn officers.

A president can protect federal property, personnel, and functions without becoming the default response for every city whose leaders have weakened policing and tolerated disorder.

Broader federal action is also available. Both options carry consequences, and progressive networks are organized to contest either one.

One set of costs is political. Invoking the Insurrection Act and placing federalized National Guard or active-duty forces in law-enforcement roles inside Democratic cities would supply the โ€œfascismโ€ narrative.

Local Democratic officials who have criticized aggressive policing and treated destructive unrest as legitimate expression would likely resist or litigate the deployment. That resistance would become part of the story. …
