The beleaguered California city has been labelled a ‘total failure’ by some China-based outlets as the city prepares to host Chinese President Xi Jinping next week.
The spotlight will be on the city as the Chinese President meets with President Biden for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr, most famous for her role on the hit sitcom “Roseanne,” posted on X a photo of herself with former President Donald Trump on Friday.
In a post expressing gratitude for well-wishes on her birthday, Barr shared her photo with the former president, along with a caption suggesting the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.
“Thank you for the birthday wishes! My present was getting to meet the twice elected President of the United States!” Barr posted on X.

Thousands of National Guard troops have not received promised enlistment bonuses
Thousands of Americans enter the National Guard every year with promises of bonuses as high as $20,000 for their part-time service, but the National Guard is behind on paying bonuses to roughly 6% of those service members owed the incentive, a National Guard official confirmed to Fox News Digital.
According to the official, around 9,000 service members who were promised bonuses for signing up have yet to receive the money.
The problem is widespread enough that an additional 3,900 service members who have already completed their service and have since left the military have also not received their bonus payment.

Man’s body dug up and burned in the street ‘after it was revealed he was gay’
The 31-year-old man, named locally as Cheikh Fall, had been buried in Léona Niassene cemetery in the central Senegalese town of Kaolack on Friday evening.
According to local media, his family had tried to arrange a burial in nearby Touba, which is the holy city of the Islamic Mouride brotherhood.
However, the local authorities refused after learning the man was gay, so the family instead tried to inter him close to their home.

‘Butcher’s Flat’ Rochdale Grooming Gang Child Rapists Jailed for Sexually Abusing Two Young Girls
Mohammed Ghani, Jahn Shahid Ghani, Insar Hussain, Ali Razza Hussain Kasmi, and Martin Rhodes, who were convicted earlier this year on a range of sexual offences against two girls, aged 13 and 14 at the time, have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from eight to 20 years behind bars.
The two girls, who remain anonymous due to court restrictions, were routinely taken to an apartment in Rochdale known as the “butcher’s flat” where they were plied with alcohol and drugs, including ecstasy and marijuana, before being passed from man to man, the Daily Mail reported.
The abuse, which began in 2002 and continued until 2006, started when Girl A was lured into the grips of the grooming gang by Mohammed Ghani, who would have sex with the girls before passing them on to his fellow groomers.
