Robot performs prostate surgery across 1,500 miles between London and Gibraltar
A surgeon in London has successfully removed a patient’s prostate in Gibraltar. They used a remotely controlled surgical robot. This marks a milestone for long-distance robotic surgery.
The operation was performed on March 4 by Prokar Dasgupta, who leads the robotic center at The London Clinic. The patient, 62-year-old Paul Buxton, was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer at St Bernard’s Hospital.
Using a robotic console in London, Dasgupta remotely guided the Toumai Robotic System to perform a prostatectomy on Buxton. The patient and local surgical team were located in Gibraltar, about 2,400 kilometers (about 1,500 miles) away.
The procedure relied on a secure high-speed network built by Presidio. The connection created only a 48 millisecond delay between the surgeon’s movements in London and the robot’s actions in Gibraltar.
The Toumai robot was stationed inside the Kusuma Robotic Surgery Suite at St Bernard’s Hospital. The machine was equipped with multiple arms. It also had a high-definition 3D camera, and carried out the surgical steps under the surgeon’s remote control.
According to the medical team, the stable network connection was critical to the procedure’s success. Fiber-optic infrastructure linked the two locations, enabling real-time robotic control during the operation….
UPDATE: Test Results Are In for Las Vegas ‘Bio-Lab’ Investigation
The National Bioforensic Laboratory conducted testing. They determined that a suspected biolab was raided by the FBI on January 31 in Las Vegas. The lab contained materials to create COVID and pregnancy test kits. It also had compounds for Influenza vaccines and human blood and urine samples.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Delzotto stated that some of the samples were sent for testing. However, they were too old to be tested. The FBI lab concluded that the community could not be harmed by what was contained in that lab.
As you’ll recall, federal and state law enforcement officers acting on a tip raided the home of Jia Bei Zhu. He is the Chinese national who operated an illegal biolab in Reedley, California. They found multiple refrigerators and freezers containing vials, bottles, and jugs of unknown liquid substances. Laboratory equipment was in the garage of the home. They sent 1,200 samples out for testing.
In an interview with 8 News Now, Delzotto said that the type of equipment found and the condition of the samples suggest that there was no active work going on at the location:
“I would describe it as a bio-storage facility where a lot of the remnants from what we know as the 2023 Reedley lab seem to have been stored in this garage for years. There were samples of liquids that had been there for years that have degraded to the point, based on being at room temperature, not refrigerated, again for an extensive period of time, that are degraded to the point where we can’t test them.”…
US Navy strengthens sea-based nuclear deterrent with Trident II control upgrade
The US Navy is preparing its future ballistic missile submarine fleet. They will operate the Trident II ballistic missile. This will be done by upgrading the missile’s fire control system.
The Navy has awarded General Dynamics Mission Systems a $255 million contract. The purpose is to sustain and modernize the Trident II Fire Control System.
The upgrade will ensure compatibility across both the current Ohio-class submarine fleet and the next-generation Columbia-class submarine.
Under the 2026 contract, the company will provide lifecycle support. It will continue to develop the new fire control systems. The company will also produce and install these systems through 2032.
As the US Navy prepares to introduce the next-generation Columbia-class submarine, they have several tasks. They must ensure continued compatibility with the Trident II D5 ballistic missile. This is central to maintaining the credibility of the country’s sea-based nuclear deterrent.

Nearly 20,000 U.S. citizens have returned safely from the Middle East since Feb. 28. The Iran conflict broke out on that day. “These figures do not include the many Americans who have safely relocated to other countries. They also exclude those who have left the Middle East. These individuals are still in transit back to the United States,” Johnson said. “At the direction of Secretary [Marco] Rubio, Department of State charter flight and ground transportation operations are underway. The operations will continue to ramp up with additional flights. Additional ground transports will take place today.”
“Through the State Department’s 24/7 Task Force, we have assisted over 10,000 Americans abroad. We have provided security guidance and travel assistance. The State Department will continue to actively assist any American citizen abroad. They are prepared to help those who wish to depart the Middle East.”
Johnson highlighted that the department has set up an online Crisis Intake form. This form is for Americans residing in Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.
U.S. citizens completing the form will receive information about upcoming ground transportation and charter aviation options. Americans in the Middle East can contact the State Department at +1-202-501-4444 for assistance.
The State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs made a statement in a March 5 post on X. They said that limited commercial flights are operating in the UAE. These flights are currently out of international airports in the country.
“Passengers should not travel to the airport unless they hold a confirmed ticket. They must also have explicit advice from their airline to do so. There are overland routes to Oman and Saudi Arabia. Commercial options to depart the region are operating. However, there are reports of congestion,” the bureau said….
Want a machine gun? These states might soon make buying one easier
Republican lawmakers in West Virginia and Kentucky are working on making it easier for Americans to acquire fully automatic firearms. This move might catch on in other red states.
Machine guns are heavily regulated in the United States. They are defined by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives as a firearm. These guns can fire “automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.”
Such weapons can be privately owned. However, Americans are greatly limited in what they can buy. They must jump through numerous hoops to seal the deal.
Per the Firearm Owners’ Protection Act, civilians are barred from possessing a machine gun manufactured after May 19, 1986. Limited supply means higher prices. Silencer Central says that prospective buyers should expect to spend a minimum of $6,000 to $10,000.
Interested American buyers must be at least 21 years of age. They should neither be a felon nor a fugitive. They must live in a state without a machine gun ban. They need to pass an AFT background check. They must also pay a one-time $200 transfer tax and get approval from the government to take possession. Once those hurdles are cleared, they can take the machine gun home but fire it only on closed target ranges.
In West Virginia, Republican state Sens. Chris Rose and Zack Maynard recently introduced legislation. It would establish an office of public defense within the West Virginia State Police. This office would oversee the procurement and sale of machine guns to “qualified members of the public.” These members include any citizen currently eligible to purchase and possess firearms under West Virginia and federal law.
The Cowboy State Daily reported that the new office would be authorized to transfer newer machine guns to state residents.
Blaze News has reached out to state Sen. Rose for clarification about whether out-of-state American citizens would be able to acquire a machine gun from the proposed authority.

It serves the public interest of its people. This ensures they are better able to assist in the defense of the State. It also enables them to resist tyranny, using bearable firearms commonly used in modern warfare.
The legislation would ensure that machine guns provided to citizens in the state through the proposed office are the same as those used by law enforcement. The proposed office would provide machine guns to citizens. These machine guns would be the same as those used by law enforcement. The office will also provide machine guns currently used by law enforcement. They would also match those used by the United States Armed Forces. These machine guns shall include but not be limited to AR-15/M16-platform, M249-type, and MP5-type Machineguns.
Kentucky state Rep. TJ Roberts (R) has introduced a nearly identical bill. It would create a sub-office within the Kentucky State Police. This office is tasked with acquiring and transferring guns to qualified Kentuckians.
Roberts stated on X, “Law-abiding Kentuckians should be able to own any type of firearm they choose. This includes machine guns. This is our constitutional right.”..
February jobs report subverts economists’ expectations after a seemingly strong start to the year
The employment situation report for February was released on Friday. It showed a slowdown after an ostensibly strong start to the year.
The United States lost 92,000 nonfarm jobs in February, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
The Hill reported an unexpected downturn in total jobs confronted economists. They generally expected the United States to add 60,000 jobs.
Additionally, The Hill marked a concerning trend. It reported that the BLS revised December 2025’s initial gain of 48,000 jobs to a loss of 17,000 jobs.
However, consistent with previous trends in President Trump’s first year, the federal government accounted for 10,000 of those jobs losses. BLS reported that federal employment is down by 330,000, or 11% of the federal workforce.
The unemployment rate saw a slight uptick compared to January, rising 0.1% to 4.4% in February.
“The January jobs report overstated any emerging strength in the labor market. Similarly, the February employment data give a false impression. They suggest deteriorating labor market conditions.” Nancy Vanden Houten is the lead economist at Oxford Economics. She said this in an email to CBS News on Friday.
The employment situation report for March is scheduled to be released on April 3.
Dozens of Democrats side with Iran over Trump

On Thursday, there was a vote on a resolution. It reaffirmed that “Iran continues to be the largest state sponsor of terrorism.” 53 Democrats voted against the resolution. Republicans voted unanimously in favor of it.
Sponsored by Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.), the nonbinding resolution passed 372-53, with two Democrats voting present and five members not voting, including the embattled Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas).
All members of the “Squad” of progressive Democrats voted against the resolution. They were among the ranks of those who opposed it: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).
The two-page resolution stated several reasons Iran is inimical to the United States, including sponsoring enemies who have killed U.S. soldiers in the Middle East.
The reasons included, for example, that “the Islamic Republic of Iran remains the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.” It provides substantial financial and military support to groups. These groups include Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
The resolution also addressed the Iranian nuclear enrichment program. “Iran has amassed a large stockpile of enriched uranium. This information comes from Rafeal Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. They continue to block access to undeclared sites in Iran. These sites are affiliated with their ‘big, ambitious nuclear weapons program.’
Rep. Lateefah Simon (D-Calif.) claimed the resolution “contains inaccuracies and is designed to justify the President’s actions in Iran.”..

He revealed the continuing pace of strikes. In particular, he noted Iran’s loss of its new ‘carrier’.

It takes a hit on its flight deck, which erupts into a torrent of billowing flame. The video cuts to an unspecified later time. The fire forward is clearly well established. A second strike hits the ship aft. This strike is possibly on the superstructure, which typically houses crew accommodation and the bridge.
The force of the second impact sends large pieces of wreckage flying through the air and into the sea. The U.S. hasn’t made clear the ship’s ultimate fate yet. However, they did imply it was among the ranks of the “sunk or destroyed.” As of Thursday night, it was “on fire.” The drone carrier was converted from a civilian cargo ship. As a result, it was built with less robust fire fighting and flooding prevention measures than a purpose-built warship. Therefore, the chances of it being meaningfully saved are at best slender.

Trump announced Wednesday he would soon make an endorsement in the runoff. He called for whoever does not get his nod to drop out immediately. Amid war with Iran, Patriots plane brings Americans in Middle East back home
A New England Patriots plane was used to get hundreds of Americans home from the Middle East amid the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
A State Department official shared on social media a photo of people boarding the jet, which landed in Washington, D.C. Friday morning. Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs Dylan Johnson said it was one of many charter flights. These flights were leaving the Middle East for the U.S.
The State Department said it paid for the plane. This plane is part of a charter company’s fleet that the government uses. The Patriots organization had no involvement with the flight plans.
The Boeing 767 is painted with the team logo and colors, as well as six championship trophies on the tail.
The two Patriots planes have been used before for purposes other than football travel. In 2021, one brought medical equipment and supplies to Haiti after a devastating earthquake. And in 2020, a Patriots plane flew to China to bring 1.2 million face masks back to Massachusetts as the COVID pandemic emerged.
“A charter company operates our team planes when the team does not use them during the season. The company utilizes the planes in their inventory. They operate these aircraft for various charter flights,” the Patriots told WBZ-TV in a statement. “We encourage the charter company to use them for missions like this and other humanitarian and national interest type missions.”

San Francisco mayor admits city ‘needs a reset’ hours before attack on security detail
A tense encounter turned violent in San Francisco’s troubled Tenderloin neighborhood Thursday evening when Mayor Daniel Lurie’s vehicle was blocked by several men, sparking an attack that left at least one security officer injured.
The confrontation unfolded around 5:40 p.m. near Cedar and Polk streets, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Officers assigned to the mayor’s protective detail became engaged in a physical altercation with two unidentified male suspects after the mayor’s vehicle was stopped in the roadway.
Video from the scene shows a security detail member being taken to the ground as officers worked to subdue the suspects. One officer sustained visible injuries during the altercation.
As the investigation progressed, police said they developed probable cause to arrest both men. Authorities identified the suspects as 44-year-old Tony Phillips and 33-year-old Abraham Simon. Both were transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked.
Phillips faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, resisting an executive officer, resisting or obstructing an officer, battery on a peace officer, theft of lost property, possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court.
Simon was booked on suspicion of resisting or obstructing an officer. He was also booked on an active out-of-county warrant for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Authorities have not said what led to the confrontation or whether the suspects directly threatened the mayor.
Two officers also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were assessed by paramedics at the scene, according to police.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Mayor Lurie’s press secretary Charles Lutvak said: “There was an altercation this evening. It involved the mayor’s security detail. The mayor was not involved. We appreciate our SFPD officers for their quick response and for keeping our city safe every day.”
Photos published by Mission Local appear to show one suspect on the ground in handcuffs surrounded by officers. The outlet reported that three individuals initially blocked the mayor’s vehicle. Lurie allegedly asked them to move. While one person initially complied, that individual later became involved in a physical struggle with a member of the mayor’s security detail…

Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken told GCaptain News that the tanker was redirected to Zeebrugge by an escort. It would be seized by Brussels.
“Operation Blue Intruder was carried out by a team of exceptionally brave service members. Excellent work,” he said, as the outlet also reported the ship was tied to a confidant of Khamenei.
The MT Ethera is reportedly linked to the son of senior political adviser Ali Shamkhani. His family reportedly controls an entire fleet of tankers. These tankers may be used to facilitate Iranian and Russian oil trade….

In a big win for the Constitution, a federal appeals court ruled on Thursday that Washington, D.C.’s gun magazine restriction is unconstitutional.
In a 2-1 ruling, the three-judge panel found the federal district’s ban on firearm magazines unconstitutional. This ban concerns magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds.
Judges Joshua Deahl was appointed by Trump. Catharine Easterly was appointed by Obama. They comprised the majority. Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby dissented. She was appointed during Bush 43’s administration.
“Magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition are ubiquitous in our country. They number in the hundreds of millions. This accounts for about half of the magazines in the hands of our citizenry. They come standard with the most popular firearms sold in America today,” Deahl wrote for the majority. “These magazines are arms in common use by law-abiding citizens across this country. Therefore, we agree with Benson and the United States. The District’s outright ban on them violates the Second Amendment.”
The case was initiated by plaintiff Tyree Benson. The court described that he was charged with several gun-related offenses. This happened after law enforcement discovered his possession of “an unregistered semiautomatic firearm equipped with a 30-round magazine.” Among the four charges levied against him were those for unlawful possession of a ‘large capacity ammunition feeding device.’ Another charge was for possession of an unregistered firearm….
