Putin says Russia will deploy ‘most powerful’ Sarmat nuclear missile this year
He said the Sarmat missile had a yield more than four times that of any Western equivalent and a range exceeding 21,750 miles (35,000km).
“It has the ability to penetrate all existing and future anti-missile defence systems,” he said in televised comments.
State TV showed missile force commander Sergei Karakayev reporting to the Russian president on what he said was a successful test on Tuesday.
“The deployment of launchers equipped with the Sarmat missile system will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the ground-based strategic nuclear forces in terms of guaranteeing the destruction of targets and solving strategic deterrence problems,” Mr Karakayev said.
The deployment comes after years of delays and setbacks, including a test launch in 2024 that left a deep crater at the launch silo, according to Western experts.
Analysts also say Mr Putin has exaggerated the capabilities of some of Russia’s new breed of nuclear weapons – part of a modernisation programme he started in 2018….

KB Home, a multibillion-dollar homebuilding company based in Los Angeles since 1960, is moving to Arizona — the latest in a steady caravan of businesses fleeing California’s high taxes and complex regulations.
KB Home cited the Phoenix metro area’s “business-friendly operating environment” in announcing its move to Tempe in spring 2027, while pledging to maintain six operating divisions in California.
“It positions KB Home to operate more effectively and supports the next phase of our growth,” CEO Robert McGibney said.
KB Home is trodding a well-worn path: Oracle, Tesla, Chevron, Charles Schwab and Hewlett Packard Enterprise have relocated their headquarters out of California in recent years.
The Public Policy Institute of California estimates the Golden State experienced a net loss of 789 corporate headquarters from 2011 to 2021, representing 3.7% of all jobs in the sector.
A Houston Chronicle report in March counted more than 1,884 companies that left California over the past decade, with more than 100 relocating to Texas since 2020 alone.
Texas has become the most popular destination, followed by Tennessee, Arizona, Nevada and Florida. All have either no state income tax or a very low rate….

Hulk Hogan’s ex-accountant indicted on six counts of wire fraud as she’s accused of stealing nearly $1m from a ‘public figure’
Melissia Gauthreaux, based out of Palm Harbor near Tampa in Florida, is accused of stealing $890,000 from a ‘public figure’ as part of her scheme that was uncovered by the FBI.
According to TMZ, the ‘public figure’ is not the WWE icon who died in July last year.
Gauthreaux is accused of using her business, Accounting Resources and Management Services, to embezzle money from her clients.
It’s alleged in the indictment that between 2017 and 2021, she stole more than $890,000 from one of her clients who lived in the Middle District of Florida.
The indictment alleges Gauthreaux had signatory authority on the client’s financial accounts and was able to remove the funds without their knowledge or consent.
TMZ also reported that Gauthreaux worked for Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, during the period in question and was responsible for bookkeeping.
If convicted, Gauthreaux faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on each count. The DoJ is also seeking an order of forfeiture of $894,274.26 – the amount that was allegedly stolen….

Several staffers at a Texas elementary school have been fired for allegedly bullying a six-year-old autistic girl and encouraging others to do the same, her father says.
Daniel Hall, 37, told KTRK that his daughter, Trinity, was ‘manhandled’ by a special education teacher and three teacher’s aides at Jan Schiff Elementary in Fort Bend County on April 14.
Hall said he was not notified of the incident until weeks later, when Principal Tiffany Agina contacted him to inform him that the staffers had been fired.
The principal shared surveillance footage with Hall that allegedly showed the unidentified employees abusing Trinity.
‘They visibly seen my daughter’s teacher pull her hair and pulled her hair hard enough to where my daughter’s beads came out her head,’ Hall said.
‘Also on camera, there’s literally teachers encouraging other students to cause harm to my daughter.’
The Daily Mail has not been able to view the footage, but Hall said the staffers mocked Trinity and threw her lunch away.
‘They babies, they don’t know any better,’ Trinity’s aunt, Ashley Sneed, told the local news station.
‘It’s bad enough already. They have a disability. They shouldn’t have to go through nothing like this.’
Fort Bend ISD confirmed it fired a teacher on April 29 and three paraprofessionals on May 4 for ‘inappropriate disciplinary actions.’
Hall said he only learned about the alleged abuse after other students complained about the same staff members, and he has filed a report with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office…

The 29-year-old is captured in the footage sitting upright in a wheelchair while being pushed to an ambulance — with the green handle of the weapon sticking out of his upper back.

The attack involved two male suspects wearing ski masks and all-black clothing who fled the scene and remain at large, cops said.

Offshore Wind Turbine Prototype Powers an Onboard Data Center, While the Sea Disperses the Heat
An offshore wind power firm has developed a prototype turbine that hosts a 12-megawatt data center within its ballast tanks.
The demands of AI computing have driven data center developers to seek creative solutions when building these incredibly power-hungry installations.
One is to build them into floating offshore installations where renewable energy can be gathered to power them, and where the cold ocean waters can disperse the heat generated by the data banks.
Wind power company Aikido has developed a novel data bank/wind turbine product that will be deployed in the North Sea as a prototype in 2027.
With 100 KWh of computing power, it will test whether or not Aikido’s design can work effectively to disperse heat and resist the famously corrosive marine environment.
“We have this power from the wind. We have free cooling. We think we can be quite cost competitive compared to conventional data-center solutions,” Aikido CEO Sam Kanner told IEEE Spectrum.
“This crunch in the next five years is an opportunity for us to prove this out and supply AI compute where it’s needed.”
If the prototype works, a full-scale device could be deployed by 2028. The design piggybacks off of state-of-the-art, floating, offshore wind turbines.
Rather than being drilled into the seabed, the installation will float on the waves supported by a tripod of ballast tanks that extend 60 feet down into the sea….
Jamaica Celebrates 40% Drop in Murders Driven by 94% Increase in Police Tip-Offs
After a major drop in violent crime, Jamaicans should be set to earn something of a “peace dividend” said the island’s Minister of National Security and Peace, Dr. Horace Chang.
The drop was much of the island’s own making, as it was characterized by record numbers of police tips, many of which were submitted without request for posted rewards.
Tips increased by 94% last year while homicides fell 40%. Jamaica is famously violent, and 2024 saw over 1,100 murders.
The 2025 total of 673 is the first time since 1993 that total annual murders came in at below 700.
Dr. Chang was addressing the 2026 Sectoral Debate in Parliament, and said that the flood of tips shows that islanders are standing up for their communities, leaving the tip reward money on the table for reasons of “patriotism.”
“This shows that it is not about money. It is about patriotism. It is about trust. It is about citizens taking a stand for their communities. This is something we must celebrate,” said Chang, who is also the deputy prime minister….

Mayor of Arcadia Eileen Wang Admits to Acting as Chinese Spy
Unsealed on Monday, the federal plea deal showed that Wang “agreed with prosecutors that she worked with the People’s Republic of China to boost propaganda with a fake news website on US soil between 2020 and 2022.
She was elected to Arcadia City Council in November 2022,” per the New York Post:
Wang worked with her then fiancé, Yaoning “Mike” Sun, on a web site called “U.S. News Center,” which claimed to be news source for Chinese Americans, according to court documents.
Wang and Sun “executed directives” from the Chinese government, posting propaganda designed to boost China, all while reporting back to their masters with screenshots showing how many people viewed the stories, according to the plea agreement.
The plea deal further stated that Wang’s spymaster had ordered the website to publish an essay dismissing accusations of genocide and forced labor in the Xinjiang region
“There is no genocide in Xinjiang; there is no such thing as ‘forced labor’ in any production activity, including cotton production. Spreading such rumor is to defame China, destroy Xinjiang’s safety and stability,” the spymaster wrote, per the plea agreement.
When Wang followed through with the order, the master wrote back, “So fast, thank you everyone.”…
Ohio Surgeon Accused of Force-Feeding Girlfriend Abortion Pills Could Face Five Years Behind Bars
Abbas was indicted on December 4, 2025, for abduction, tampering with evidence, unlawful distribution of an abortion-inducing drug, disrupting public services, identity fraud, and deception to obtain a dangerous drug, according to previous reporting.
He began dating a woman who was his patient soon after separating from his wife in October 2024, according to the report.
On December 7, 2024, she told him she was pregnant and refused to get an abortion when he suggested she do so, the State Medical Board of Ohio alleged when suspending his license.
Days later, Abbas allegedly used his former wife’s information to order abortion drugs mifepristone and misoprostol online, the report states, citing prosecutors.
Abbas allegedly tried offering his pregnant girlfriend various hot beverages, which were unusual gestures from him, prosecutors contended.
Then on December 18, 2024, Abbas allegedly invited her to his home, crushed the pills into a powder, climbed on top of her as she slept and shoved the powder into her mouth, according to the report.
The woman was able to get away from him and call 911 before he grabbed the phone out of her hand and hung up, the report alleges.
She was able to escape the home and seek help at a hospital. Previous reports have indicated the baby did not survive.
Abbas pleaded no contest to four charges, not including kidnapping and evidence tampering.
Those two charges will be dropped at sentencing as part of a plea agreement, the prosecutor’s office said.
He could face up to five years behind bars and a fine of up to $15,000. His sentencing has been scheduled for June, according to the report.
