Gavin Newsom’s outrageous $20M plan to honor California’s governors just months before he leaves office
Gavin Newsom has quietly introduced a navel-gazing proposal to honor California’s living governors just months before he becomes one himself — a move that’s grossing out his follow Democrats.
Newsom’s bizarre proposal to spend $20 million of taxpayer’s money creating a “Governors’ Legacies” fund for California’s living former leaders has enraged his party’s lawmakers, as it comes as the state grapples with a record deficit, soaring gas and health care costs, and a homelessness crisis.
Democrat Sen. Christopher Cabaldon — who’s served under all five living governors — declared: ”It’s not really the time for celebrating legacies and building ballrooms.”‘
The proposal, which was tucked into his final record-setting $349.9 billion budget, means there could be money available for Democrats to honor the two-term governor once he leaves office in January.
Newom’s final budget is a $150 billion increase from the budget he first inherited in 2019.
Furious Democratic state Sen. Caroline Menjivar called the proposal “absurd” during a committee meeting Thursday.
“I do not care to recognize the legacy of governors past or present,” Menjivar said during a hearing focused on health care services.
“I care about seniors having health insurance and seniors with disabilities having health insurance.”
Steve Hilton, the leading Republican candidate in the governor’s race, was stunned to learn of Newsom’s new $20 million “vanity project.”
“How out of touch can you get?” Hilton said.
“We have the highest taxes in the country because of the insane profligate spending. And now he wants to add to it with a ridiculous vanity project to put up statues to himself.”….
A train collides with a minibus of children in Belgium and 4 people are dead
A train traveling at high speed hit a minibus crossing a railway in Belgium on Tuesday, killing four people, including two children, and badly injuring five other children in what officials called one of the worst rail accidents in the country’s history.
It appeared that the minibus drove through the closed crossing barrier, officials said.
A security camera showed the bus, carrying nine people, was moving when the train hit it.
The collision happened during morning rush hour near Buggenhout town, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of the capital, Brussels.
The bus driver and an escort were killed along with two children aged 12 and 15, said Lisa De Wilde, spokesperson for the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office.
She said the injured children were hospitalized in serious condition.
De Wilde told journalists the cause of the crash hadn’t been established.
“What we do know is that the barrier was closed and the red light was on,” she said.
Federal Police spokesperson An Berger said the minibus driver appeared to have plowed through the barrier. Infrabel said the crossing was working correctly….
Exclusive — Sen. Tom Cotton Targets Cybersecurity Risks of Medical Devices Made in China
“I write to express concerns regarding cybersecurity vulnerabilities associated with networked medical devices manufactured in China. American patients’ exposure to compromised Chinese-made medical devices poses a risk to both national security and public health,” Cotton wrote to Kyle Diamantas, the Acting Commissioner of the U.S. FDA.
Cotton noted that the FDA and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) notified parties of cybersecurity issues associated with the Contec CMS8000, a network patient monitoring device manufactured in China.
He explained the issues with such medical devices made in China:
The FDA found the device would automatically extract personally identifiable patient health information when connected to the internet. Data exfiltration of sensitive medical information can lead to widespread identity theft, insurance fraud, extortion, and more sophisticated scams against American patients. CISA also warned the device was programmed to allow unverified users to remotely control the device without a health provider’s knowledge. This gave malign Chinese actors an opportunity to directly manipulate how the device operates and displays data, potentially leading to dangerous misdiagnoses of heart failure, arrhythmias, and hypertension. On May 14, 2025, FDA issued a Class II recall of the Contee CMS8000.
He continued, “The FDA started requiring medical device manufacturers to demonstrate enhanced cybersecurity safeguards to receive FDA pre-market clearance in 2023. But this requirement did not extend to medical devices on the market prior to the enactment of the enhanced cybersecurity requirements. Thus, more must be done to protect Americans from compromised medical devices.”
Cotton requested that the FDA and CISA review Chinese-made medical devices cleared prior to March 2023….
U.S. Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran Hitting Missile Sites, Minelaying Vessels
The targeted strikes were done “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” but the military was “using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” Capt. Tim Hawkins, the spokesman for the U.S. military’s Central Command, said in a statement as reported by AP.
Following the strikes, the BBC reports U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a deal was still possible and pointed to talks on Tuesday between Iran’s top negotiator and foreign minister and Qatar’s prime minister.
“We’ll see if we can make progress. I think it’s a lot of talking back and forth going on about specific language in the initial document, so it’ll take a few days,” Rubio told reporters during an official visit to India.
He said President Donald Trump had “expressed his desire to make it”. “He’s either going to make a good deal or no deal,” Rubio added.
When pressed again for comment on Tuesday’s early morning strikes, Rubio elaborated on the strategic nature of the action:
“The straits have to be open. They’re going to be open one way or the other, so they need to be open. What’s happening there is unlawful, it’s illegal, it’s unsustainable for the world, it’s unacceptable.”
Capt Hawkins said the U.S. strikes targeted an area near Bandar Abbas, a southern port city and the site of one of Iran’s largest naval bases, that sits on the Strait of Hormuz, according to the New York Times.
Iranian state media had earlier reported local officials in Bandar Abbas were investigating after explosions were heard.
Veteran owner of iconic ‘Trump House’ dies after vicious alleged beating by stranger
The owner of an iconic pro-America and President Donald Trump-themed home in southern California has died from injuries sustained in a savage alleged attack by a stranger last week.
Police announced Sunday night that Kerry Sheron, 69, passed away after several days in critical condition in the hospital. Sheron, a U.S. Army veteran, owned a home in Escondido, California, adorned with American flags and pro-Trump memorabilia.
The attack occurred outside Sheron’s property, which for years was subject to complaints and vandalism.
Deputy District Attorney Ross Garcia described the vicious attack, allegedly perpetrated by 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler.
He said Sheron was punched in the jaw once and fell to the ground before the suspect hit him several more times in the head, according to NBC 7.
Butler was taken into custody without incident after a brief search, and was charged with attempted murder.
Police said the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office is “reviewing the circumstances to determine whether charges will be amended.”
According to a friend of Butler’s, he was a Navy veteran with PTSD…..

Sixty-nine-year-old Kerry Sheron was well-known in his neighborhood for the house decorated with American flags and pro-Trump signs, the New York Post reported Monday.
The suspect accused of putting Sheron in critical condition was allegedly a Navy veteran identified as 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler.
Before Sheron’s death, a family friend told the California Post Butler has “severe PTSD,” the outlet reported Thursday.
“Butler’s friend even said he ‘liked’ the house, which Butler lived mere blocks away from, and added he was a Republican who supported President Donald Trump. The attack stunned the Butler family friend, who doesn’t know why he would have allegedly assaulted Sheron,” the report continued.
