Gas prices may have leveled off, at least for now
Motorists are still feeling pain at the pump as gas prices continue to move higher. But according to data from AAA, the national average price of regular gas today is the same as yesterday.
AAA reports the average price is $4.52 a gallon.
Though it’s a fraction of a cent less than the previous day, it’s $0.07 a gallon more than it was a week ago.
Prices have continued to rise with the price of oil, which is now more than $100 a barrel, due to the war with Iran that has virtually stopped oil shipments from the Persian Gulf.

While $4.52 is the national average price of regular, motorists in some states are paying a lot more. Here are the five states where gasoline is most expensive:

Gas tax pause?
The Trump administration is weighing a temporary suspension of the federal gasoline tax, as officials search for ways to ease pressure on consumers facing sharply higher fuel prices driven by turmoil in global oil markets.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday that the administration is “open to all ideas” when asked whether the White House would support a federal gas-tax holiday.
The federal tax currently adds 18.4 cents per gallon to gasoline prices and 24.4 cents to diesel fuel.
“We’re open to all ideas, everything has tradeoffs,” Wright said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” adding that the administration is looking at “all ideas to lower prices for American consumers and American businesses.”
The comments mark the clearest indication yet that the White House may support congressional action to suspend the tax amid a surge in gasoline prices tied to instability in the Middle East and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route.
While President Trump has not formally endorsed a tax holiday, he recently said the idea was “something we have in our pocket if we think it’s necessary,” according to reports.
However, a suspension of the federal gas tax would require congressional approval.
Similar proposals have surfaced repeatedly during past spikes in fuel prices, but Congress has never enacted a nationwide federal gas-tax holiday.
More chocolate bars recalled for possible Salmonella contamination
Spring & Mulberry has expanded its voluntary recall of select chocolate bars after routine testing revealed possible Salmonella contamination in finished products, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Raleigh, North Carolina-based chocolate company initially recalled only its Mint Leaf chocolate bars on Jan. 12.
The company has now broadened the recall to include additional flavors produced during the same time period on the same equipment.
The affected products were sold nationwide online and through select retail stores beginning Sept. 15, 2025.
The recalled items can be identified by specific lot numbers printed on the back of the packaging and inner flow wrap.
The expanded recall includes the following products and lot codes:

What to do
Consumers who purchased the affected products should not eat them, but safely discard them or return them for a refund.
According to the company, the contamination risk was first identified after routine third-party testing by a contract manufacturer detected Salmonella in finished products.
Spring & Mulberry said the recall was expanded in consultation with the FDA because Salmonella contamination can be intermittent and difficult to detect.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream and cause more severe complications.
The company said there have been no confirmed illnesses or adverse health effects linked to the recalled chocolate bars.
Consumers are advised not to consume the products and instead discard them or contact the company for a refund or replacement.

Iran executes US spy after being tortured for months for helping the CIA and Mossad
Iran executed an alleged U.S. spy by hanging after accusing him of collaborating with the CIA and Mossad.
Erfan Shakourzadeh, 29, was executed after he was convicted of assisting the CIA and Mossad, Iran‘s judiciary announced on Monday.
Shakourzadeh was a student from Iran’s prestigious University of Science and Technology in Tehran.
He was initially arrested in February 2025 and accused of working with hostile states.
Reports allege that the man suffered nine months of “severe physical and psychological torture in solitary confinement” as regime chiefs attempted to gain forced confessions…..
The University student is the fifth person to be executed on espionage charges since the outbreak of war on February 28, the Sun reported.

European Leaders Aren’t Blind to Kiev Corruption… They Are Key Partners in a Massive Extortion Racket
There was more evidence this week of the Kiev regime’s endemic corruption.
And yet the European Union leaders are lining up to send a massive €90 billion ($105bn ) loan to this regime, a regime which has become a byword for industrial-scale scamming.
The EU has already pumped about €200 billion into propping up the Ukrainian regime since February 2022, when the NATO proxy war with Russia escalated.
Most of the latest money will be used as military aid to invest in Ukrainian manufacturers of drones and missiles.
One of the most prominent of these Ukrainian firms – Fire Point – is linked to the regime’s so-called president, Vladimir Zelensky.
Surveillance tapes leaked to Ukrainian media show that businessman Timur Mindich, alleged owner of Fire Point, discussed the acquisition of billions of euros in contracts with the former Ukrainian minister of defense, Rustem Umarov.
Both men are under investigation by Ukrainian anti-corruption organizations for embezzlement.
Last year, Umarov resigned as defense minister after being accused of fraud and racketeering.
Meanwhile, Timur Mindich fled to Israel last November just as corruption investigators were about to arraign him for questioning.
Mindich was formerly a business partner with Zelensky and remains a close associate. He is cheekily referred to as “Zelensky’s wallet”.
Zelensky, whose presidential mandate expired nearly two years ago but who has self-appointed an extension in office, has been constantly touring foreign countries appealing for more military aid while also promoting Fire Point as a rewarding investment.

For years, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been playing a sleazy double game:
presenting himself to the West as a regional mediator and responsible NATO ally while simultaneously transforming Turkey into a sanctuary for Hamas terrorists outside the Gaza Strip.
New revelations emerging from Israeli security investigations have shattered any illusion that Turkey’s relationship with Hamas is limited to “political support” or “diplomatic engagement.”
The evidence increasingly points to a situation far more alarming:
Turkey has become a primary operational, logistical, and financial hub for Hamas’s global terror infrastructure.
Countries that enable terrorism cannot at the same time be treated as indispensable partners in the fight against terrorism.
A recent report by Israel’s public broadcaster KAN revealed that Hamas operatives have been openly participating in combat training exercises at shooting clubs across Turkey.
The Hamas members, according to the report, have been training in civilian clothing to avoid suspicion while learning firearms tactics and advanced combat techniques.
More disturbing are reports that Hamas members have been enrolling in professional drone-pilot courses and receiving official Turkish licenses to fly drones.
The training, according to Israeli officials cited in the report, is intended to prepare the Hamas members for deployment to Lebanon, Jordan and the West Bank for possible future attacks on Israel.
Japan: World-first fully automated medicine lab with humanoids, robots and no humans
The facility developed by the Institute of Science Tokyo operates with 10 robots, including the humanoid Maholo LabDroid, and no on-site human staff.
The university plans to expand the number of robots over time while combining automation systems with AI, with the long-term goal of automating nearly the entire medical research process.
Last month, Researchers at Japan’s Hokkaido University developed FLUID, an open-source 3D-printed robot enabling affordable, customizable lab automation for material synthesis and advanced experimentation.
The robotics laboratory is designed to automate medical research tasks traditionally handled by scientists.
The facility at the Yushima campus of the Institute of Science Tokyo, known as the Robotics Innovation Center, currently operates with 10 robots and no human staff on site.
Among them is the humanoid Maholo LabDroid, which uses two robotic arms to perform delicate laboratory procedures such as transferring precise amounts of reagents and handling temperature-controlled equipment, reports Japan Today….
China’s neighbor hits 1,200-second mark in hypersonic missile engine testing
This successful test lasted almost 20 minutes, nearly twice as long as a previous test in January.
The test was held at the Scramjet Connect Pipe Test (SCPT) facility, which is run by the Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), a main missile research center for DRDO.
Officials said this achievement boosts India’s efforts to develop hypersonic weapons that can fly faster than Mach 5 (3,790 mph).
Hypersonic cruise missiles are designed to travel at very high speeds while remaining maneuverable.
These systems are difficult to intercept with current air defense networks and are a key area of focus for countries such as the United States, Russia, China, and India.
The recent trial aimed to confirm how the full-scale scramjet combustor performs over extended periods of operation.

Pentagon reveals location of nuclear-armed submarine after Trump rejects Iran proposal
The Pentagon revealed the location of a U.S. Navy nuclear-armed submarine in a rare move a day after President Trump rejected the latest peace proposal from Iran.
The Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine arrived in Gibraltar, a British territory on Spain’s south coast, on Sunday, the U.S. Sixth Fleet said on Monday.
“The port visit demonstrates U.S. capability, flexibility and continuing commitment to its NATO allies,” the Sixth Fleet said in a press release. “Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines are undetectable launch platforms for submarine-launched ballistic missiles, providing the U.S. with its most survivable leg of the nuclear triad.”
The Pentagon did not disclose the name of the submarine, one of the U.S. military’s most secretive weapons.
In general, the locations of the U.S. nuclear-armed submarines are highly classified.

IT professional had abuse images of young boys
Stephen Comiskey (51) Turnbury Road, Baldoyle, Co. Dublin, appeared before the Circuit Criminal Court after Gardaí discovered 101 indecent images of children on his mobile phone.
Detective Garda Rebecca Doyle agreed with prosecuting counsel, Lisa Dempsey BL, that Gardaí received a tip off on foot of a UK-based investigation which uncovered that the accused was sending and receiving indecent images to a number of individuals whom he believed to be teen boys.
He came to court on a signed plea of guilty in respect of breaches of Section 6 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act, 1998, after Gardaí executed a search warrant at his home address, which he shared with his wife and children at the time.
Judge Orla Crowe heard that the accused had engaged in “sexually explicit conversations” with an individual whom he believed to be a 14-year-old boy. His mobile phone was found to contain
Ms Dempsey told the court that the accused had sent photographs of his own genitals to the supposed children and that he was the admin of a group chat on the social media platform Kick, where he sent and received images.
When he was interviewed by Gardaí, he read from a prepared statement and accepted that the images described to him were found on his device….

Trump sees Iran cease-fire ‘on massive life support’ — ‘1% chance of living’
President Trump said Monday that the cease-fire with Iran “is on massive life support” after Iran’s latest peace offer contained several inflammatory provisions and no nuclear concessions.
“It’s on life support,” Trump said at a maternal health event in the Oval Office.
“Dr [Mehmet] Oz, life support is not a good thing,” he said, turning to the Medicare and Medicaid administrator.
“I would say the ceasefire is on massive life support, where the doctor walks in and says, ‘Sir, your loved one has approximately a 1% chance of living.’”

DOJ: ‘Operation Iron Pursuit’ Nets 350 Child Sex Predators as Officials Warn Others ‘We Are Coming for You’
Officials located over 200 children, and 350 child sex predators were arrested during the operation that ran from April 1 until April 30, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of New York announced Friday.
“All 56 FBI field offices and U.S. Attorneys, offices around the country participated in the coordinated takedown effort, including the Buffalo FBI Field Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York,” the press release said.
The news comes after Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel said his agency has been working to modernize and restore trust as it protects American citizens, while also moving over 1,000 agents and Intelligence Analysts out of Washington, DC, and into the field, Breitbart News reported.
Following the close of Operation Iron Pursuit and additional operations, Patel said drugs and firearms were also seized, according to Breitbart News.
Meanwhile, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced in March that 414 illegal alien child sex offenders were arrested in Houston, Texas, during President Donald Trump’s first year back in the White House, with one official saying thanks to ICE agents’ efforts, parents can “sleep a little better” knowing the pedophiles and child rapists were no longer a threat….
Pennsylvania man accused of fatal arson after woman allegedly rejected his advances
Robert Shane Zimmerman, 40, was arrested after allegedly starting a fire at a home in Lewistown around 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday, the Lewistown Police Department wrote on Facebook.
When officers arrived at the scene, several residents said the fire was intentionally set and that people were trapped inside the home, which was rented out to several subletters.
A man suffered significant facial injuries after jumping from the second floor of the home and was flown to a burn trauma center with internal burns to his throat.
He informed authorities that his girlfriend was still inside.
A woman also sustained serious injuries after passing out from smoke inhalation and falling onto a concrete sidewalk below, according to police.
She was also transported to a trauma center for treatment.
Another victim, identified as Brandy Phillippe, 44, was found dead inside the home after authorities said she appeared to have attempted to escape but became trapped in the residence, according to the Mifflin County Coroner’s Office.
Multiple witnesses reported Zimmerman was at the home to profess his love for a woman living in the attic, police said.
The fire was later confirmed to be arson by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.
“It was reported that Zimmerman became upset when he was rejected by the female and he began setting several items on fire on the first floor of the residence,” police said, adding that the woman was later taken into custody for a prothonotary warrant issued in February….
Former Dem gov in hot seat for ‘complete failure’ in ‘INSANE’ early release of thousands of inmates
This comes as Cooper is locked in a heated Senate race with Republican Michael Whatley that could help determine which party controls the chamber.
A spokesperson for Cooper’s campaign dismissed the criticisms as “blatant lies from Republicans,” pointing to how the former governor fought the releases in court.
The spokesperson also said thousands of prisoners were released during the first Trump administration due to COVID-19.
A Fox News Digital review of data from the North Carolina Sentencing and Policy Advisory Commission found that more than 560 inmates released during the Cooper administration went on to be arrested on charges of new offenses within two years of their release.
The agreement resulted in the release of 3,500 inmates over a 180-day period from February to August 2021.
Among those released was Tyrell Brace, who was later charged with first-degree murder in the killing of young father Elante Thompson in Charlotte.
Brace previously pleaded guilty to assault by strangulation and assault inflicting serious injury and also had felony larceny and breaking-and-entering convictions.
North Carolina Department of Public Safety Adult Correction records indicate Brace was released months earlier than originally scheduled…..
