Former Maryland school worker faces new charges after more videos of underage girls found
A former Montgomery County Public Schools employee accused of secretly recording students inside a Walter Johnson High School changing room now faces more charges after investigators said they found more videos.
James Mulhern III, 43, was charged July 23 in connection with videos that were allegedly recorded at the Bethesda, Maryland, schools around 2015, according to court documents obtained by 7News.
Each count carries a maximum possible sentence of 25 years.
An arrest warrant was issued for Mulhern on the new charges. It was not immediately clear whether the warrant had been served or whether his bond status had changed.
The new filing describes hidden-camera recordings and does not outline allegations of physical contact.
Investigators said a forensic examination of devices seized from Mulhern’s home uncovered 15 hidden-camera videos on a flash drive.
Police found 11 of the videos were recorded inside the girls’ theater changing room and costume storage room at Walter Johnson High School.
The videos allegedly showed students changing clothes with their underwear exposed, according to the charging documents.
Some files had also been renamed with references to the students shown in them.
Investigators estimated the recordings were made around 2015 based on the students seen in the footage and information connected to the files.
Police also said the flash drive had about 39 pictures focused on teenage girls’ cleavage.
Some were allegedly taken at Walter Johnson High School, while others appeared to be screenshots taken from students’ social media accounts.
A search of Mulhern’s cellphone also uncovered internet searches involving teenage girls and Walter Johnson High School, according to court records….
Feds tell Colorado to repay $8 million in Medicaid money
The federal government is demanding an $8 million repayment from Colorado for inaccurate Medicaid payments.
The demand follows a recent federal audit that found Colorado failed to follow state and federal requirements and procedures for certain payments for personal care service.
The audit also determined there were discrepancies such as claims for care far exceeding 24 hours a day.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General released the audit report in July.
Besides demanding $8 million in repayment, the report provides Colorado with recommended improvements to its Electronic Visit Verification system.
The Colorado Department of Healthcare Policy and Financing is in charge of administering personal care service Medicaid payments.
The report estimated Colorado spent nearly $15 million, with $8 million of that being federal money. The report said that was dispersed by the department as “unallowable” reimbursements.
The 21st Century Cares Act was passed in 2016 and had a provision that required states to adopt the Electronic Visit Verification system by January 2020.
Colorado was one of the first states to adopt the EVV system when it soft-launched in 2019, and its implementation encouraged other states to follow.
In Colorado, the audit reviewed processes from personal care service logs from July 1, 2023 until June 30, 2024.
It sampled 1.3 million claims of $25 or more, which totaled nearly $152.8 million in federal reimbursements.
From the 1.3 million claims, the auditors reviewed a random sample of 160 claims. They then found that 62 claims were entered manually into the EVV system.
Seventeen were not entered at all, 18 lacked location information, and 18 had GPS exceptions that were never reviewed, according to the federal audit…
Trump announces plan to streamline veterans for commercial drivers’ licenses
President Donald Trump on Thursday announced an initiative to streamline veterans of the Armed Forces for approval of commercial drivers’ licenses (CDLs) and relevant training.
Trump made the announcement in a press conference, during which he highlighted the administration’s efforts to crack down on illegal aliens with CDLs and its imposition of English language requirements for truckers.
Trump’s reforms will allow veterans with vehicle operating experience to skip what he called “redundant road tests” and will offer training to those veterans who lack the vehicle experience.
Appearing with Trump was Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who also touted the improved opportunities for veterans and the increase in road safety from eliminating unqualified truck drivers.
Illegal aliens receiving CDLs has drawn national attention in recent years due to a string of fatal collisions involving illegal alien truck drivers, many of whom could not speak English.

Global Hunger Falls Below 8% for the First Time Since the Pandemic
For the 3rd consecutive year, global hunger as measured by malnourishment among continental populations has fallen.
It’s also the first time that the malnourished as a share of global population has fallen below 8% since the government-enforced business closures and supply disruptions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The reduction is driven by a steep, 5-year decline of malnourishment in Asia, and a lesser decline over the same period in the Caribbean and Latin America.
On a 3-year time horizon, Oceania also saw a drop of 0.4%. Africa remains the world’s most undernourished continent, with averages above 20% in some regions, with the worst being located in conflict zones.
Presented in the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2026 report, 7.8% of the global population is considered malnourished.
It’s a huge improvement since 1970, when undernourishment afflicted nearly 35% of the population living outside Europe and North America….
3,000 Eye Surgeries Restore Sight for Thousands – Paid Forward by US and Caribbean Churches
Day after day, between May 14th and the 26th, hundreds of islanders arrived at the hospital in the town of Cocorite, some of whom had been waiting for cataract surgery for years, or who were never able to receive it due to the prohibitive cost.
To address this unserved need, the Church partnered with nonprofits Hands International and Eyes for India, the president of the latter happened to have developed a “high-volume cataract surgery technique” which enabled the volunteer surgeons to perform a staggering 450 procedures every day.
“Our target was approximately 4,000 cataract surgeries,” said Tobago-born MD, Reynold Agard, president of Hands International. “When we replace that lens, people see again. Colors become sharper. Night blindness improves. It changes quality of life.”
The initiative also provided treatment for pterygium, commonly known as “surfer’s eye,” a non-cancerous growth frequently associated with prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light, dust, and wind.
Even with chief ophthalmologist and Eyes for India founder Jacob Prabhakar’s marathon method for cataract surgery, most of the patients arrived having never undergone pre-surgical screening procedures—again, because of cost.
Volunteers had to quickly divide patients into who had undergone screening and those who still needed it, a task which turned out to be the biggest challenge….

Militant attack on a Pakistani police post leaves 11 officers and 15 attackers dead
The death toll from an overnight deadly militant attack on a police post in northwestern Pakistan rose to 11 early Thursday, police and a government official said.
Security forces killed 15 militants in an hourlong gunbattle after they targeted the Khazina police post in Hangu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan, police official Irfan Khan said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the assault.
Suspicion is likely to fall on the Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, which has stepped up attacks on Pakistani security forces in the region in recent months.
Among those killed was Diyar Khan, a senior police officer who led reinforcements to the scene, according to a provincial police statement.
More than two dozen police officers were also wounded in the attack.
Reinforcements dispatched to the scene were ambushed en route, damaging an armored personnel carrier before officers fought back, according to the statement.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in militant violence in recent years, much of it blamed on the TTP, a separate group but a close ally of the Afghan Taliban, who returned to power in neighboring Afghanistan in 2021.
Islamabad has repeatedly accused Afghanistan’s Taliban government of providing sanctuary to TTP militants, an allegation Kabul denies.
Kidnapper executes victim in front of sheriff’s deputies in Chino Hills, authorities say
A kidnapper executed their victim in front of sheriff’s deputies in Chino Hills on Wednesday night before being gunned down by law enforcement, officials said.
The kidnapper had already shot the victim once before stuffing them into the trunk of their car, then shot them again in the middle of a traffic stop with deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, officials said.
The bizarre and deadly confrontation occurred after deputies were called to the 2000 block of Monteverde Drive around 10:15 p.m. for reports of gunshots and someone yelling for help, officials said.
According to public information officer Gloria Orejel, the victim exited their home and was shot by two people, who then put them in the trunk of the car.
As deputies responded to the shooting, Orejel said, they spotted the suspected vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. At that point, they were unaware of a potential kidnapping, officials said.
The deputies ordered the two people out of the vehicle.
“The passenger did comply,” Orejel said. “However, the driver exited the vehicle, approached the trunk of the suspect vehicle and fired a shot into a victim that was inside the trunk.”
Deputies then shot the driver. The driver and the victim in the trunk were pronounced dead at the scene.
Details on the connection between the driver and passenger and the victim were not immediately known, and details on the victim were not available.
Father sentenced to 15 years in prison in Georgia high school shooting carried out by teenage son
The father of a Georgia teenager who carried out a deadly mass shooting at his high school was sentenced to 15 years in prison for second-degree murder and other charges after a jury found him criminally culpable for the attack.
Colin Gray, 55, admitted to providing the assault rifle used by his then-14-year-old son in the September 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School, which killed two students and two teachers.
His son, 16-year-old Colt Gray, pleaded guilty to all 55 counts against him, including murder and aggravated assault. Judge Nicholas Primm sentenced him to life in prison without parole on Tuesday.
The teen’s father appeared in the Barrow County Courthouse before the same judge on Thursday to learn his fate.
He faced more than 100 years in prison after being found guilty of 27 counts, including second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, cruelty to children in the second degree, and reckless conduct.
The jury deliberated for fewer than two hours before returning the guilty verdicts in March.
Colin Gray is the latest parent to be charged and convicted in the U.S. in connection with a mass shooting carried out by their child.
Judge Primm noted the novelty of the school shooting case, saying it’s the first of its kind in Georgia and the second he’s aware of in the nation.
“What we’re really referencing is this new phenomenon of parents being charged in conjunction with crimes that their children are committing,” Primm said. “It’s a divisive case.”
Primm said the father was convicted because “the warning lights were flashing brighter and brighter” and he didn’t get his son help or remove his access to guns….
Cyclospora Outbreak 2026 Foods to Avoid and Map as 45 States Hit With Parasite Cases
Cyclospora, the nasty parasite known for causing “explosive diarrhea,” has sickened an estimated 18,000 Americans across 45 states this summer.
Amid investigations into the source of recent outbreaks, iceberg lettuce has emerged as a possible culprit.
Cases of the parasitic illness, aka cyclosporiasis, started ramping up in the United States in May, which matches the typical seasonal pattern of the disease.
But this year, the U.S. has already seen dramatically more cases than its usual 3,000 annually.
At least 423 people have been hospitalized for cyclosporiasis nationwide. No deaths have been reported so far.
In July, officials identified a massive, multistate cyclosporaisis outbreak in the Midwest, which has since expanded to nine states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Cases in other parts of the country are also rising.
The CDC and U.S. Food and Drug Administration have zeroed in on shredded lettuce served at Taco Bell as a potential source. The supplier, Taylor Farms, has recalled of all of its iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market.
The recall affects lettuce served in restaurants and sold at retailers, including Walmart.
Health authorities are still investigating why cases have hit record-high levels this summer, where the contaminated lettuce was sold, and whether there are other outbreak sources.

The Tapes Don’t Lie, Even If Joe Biden Did
Another conspiracy theory just graduated to established fact. This week, the Oversight Project, the investigative arm of the Heritage Foundation, released nearly 70 hours of audio between then-private-citizen Joe Biden and his ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer, recorded in 2016 and 2017 for the memoir “Promise Me, Dad.”
Start with Biden’s own words.
On the recordings, he can be heard warning his ghostwriter about the material in front of him, telling him at one point, “Some of this may be classified. So, be careful.”
At another point, he tells Zwonitzer, “They didn’t even know I had this,” while walking through notebooks from his vice-presidential years.
That lines up almost word for word with what Special Counsel Robert Hur documented in his February 2024 report: willful retention and disclosure of classified material, unsecured storage in a home garage, notebook entries read nearly verbatim to a civilian ghostwriter.
Hur declined to charge him, in part because he expected a jury to see a sympathetic old man with a bad memory rather than a calculated leaker. Fine.
But faulty recall of dates is not the same thing as knowingly showing a ghostwriter material you yourself just labeled classified. One is decline. The other is a decision, and the tape proves he made it.
Here’s the part that should really make you angry:
the Democratic political machine and its allies in the press knew exactly what these tapes would show, and they spent two years running interference anyway.
The White House and a chorus of friendly commentators insisted Biden was “sharp as a tack,” dismissed unflattering videos as manipulated clips, and treated anyone who raised the Hur report as a Republican operative.
That fiction survived exactly until the June 27, 2024 debate, when tens of millions of viewers watched him lose his train of thought live on air, and the machine that had spent years vouching for his acuity spent the following weeks quietly maneuvering him off the ticket it had just renominated him to lead.
Bari Weiss called it a reckoning for “an entire class of experts, journalists, and pundits” who had sold the country a man who didn’t exist. That’s not spin.
That’s a coordinated cover-up by people who knew better and calculated the party mattered more than the truth. The tapes are simply the receipts arriving late.
The double standard doesn’t stop with the press.
The Justice Department spent years and real tax money prosecuting other officials’ document handling while sitting on audio of Biden doing something similar.
When Trumps Mar-a-Lago documents case was in the headlines, Biden told a national television audience that mishandling classified material was totally irresponsible, while his own team negotiated with prosecutors over boxes in his garage.
I have built a career on one principle: the standard you apply to yourself has to be at least as tough as the standard you apply to everyone else.
Washington has never operated that way, and neither, it turns out, has the press that’s supposed to hold it accountable….
