New York Times tech exec shot dead by in-laws in California hid dark secret — as wife’s disturbing claims revealed
The New York Times tech executive who was allegedly murdered by his elderly in-laws in a cold-blooded California shooting has a checkered past of domestic and child abuse, The Post has learned.
Jonathan McKinsey, 40, the newspaper’s head of engineering for games player experience, was killed by Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, in the parking lot of Dublin Sports Grounds around 3.p.m Saturday, police said.
Court records, seen by The Post, show McKinsey was charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse in 2025 by Alameda prosecutors.
The encounter that led to the charges was his wife Candice Jang calling Dublin police to report McKinsey had hit her six-year-old son in the face with an open hand.
She also told investigators about a 2018 domestic violence incident, where McKinsey bruised her left arm, the documents say.
When police went to their home, they found their two-year-old child in a room upstairs by himself while he was out shopping, according to a deputy sheriff.
McKinsey ultimately pleaded not guilty to both crimes and was released from jail on the condition that he take parenting classes.
A spokesman for the Times confirmed McKinsey was the victim of the Saturday afternoon shooting and that he had worked for the newspaper since 2023. ….

This law will better protect Americans than court decisions, however favorable, against the anti-energy, anti-consumer extremists with false pretenses.”
The Stop Climate Shakedowns Act of 2026 (S.4340), introduced in the Senate by Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and in the House by Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.), proposes to protect energy companies from climate change lawsuits and state-level penalties.
This legislation is in response to climate activism in 11 states, two of which (Vermont and New York) have enacted “climate superfund” laws.
The other nine states looking seeking judicial payouts are California, Hawaii, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

SpaceX launches Starship into orbit for 1st time — largest rocket ever built notches key milestone on dramatic Flight 14 test
SpaceX’s Starship and Super Heavy megarocket — the biggest and most powerful launch vehicle ever built — reached orbit today (Sept. 28), notching a huge milestone on the road to operational flight.
But the launch, from SpaceX’s Starbase site in South Texas, was not without high drama.
During liftoff, one of the six engines on Starship’s Ship upper stage went out, raising doubt about whether SpaceX would attempt to reach orbit after all.
SpaceX spokesperson Dan Huot even announced it was called off, only to reverse course as flight controllers decided to press ahead.
“We are not giving up yet,” Huot said. “We will continue to hang out.”
And the call came just a few minutes later: Starship was “go” for orbit.
About 25 minutes after liftoff, Ship fired a single Raptor engine briefly to enter orbit.
It was the primary goal of SpaceX’s Starship Flight 14 launch test: Reach orbit for the first time and deploy 26 Starlink satellites into an operational orbit.
“Starship is orbital,” mission control confirmed, eliciting cheers from the SpaceX employees watching the launch live at Starbase.
“First orbital flight of Starship successful!” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on SpaceX’s X platform.
The rocket of the future
Starship stands 407 feet (124 meters) tall and can haul more than 110 tons (100 metric tons) to Earth orbit, according to its SpaceX specs page.
The rocket’s Super Heavy booster and Ship upper stage are both designed to be fully and rapidly reusable.
SpaceX thinks this combination of power and reflight will be transformative, allowing humanity to expand its footprint into the final frontier like never before.

NEW: UK Officials Announce They’re RELEASING Five Alleged Terrorists on BAIL Following Attempted Attack on Airbase Used by USA for Iran Strikes (VIDEO)
The Daily Mail reported that five alleged terrorists who had been arrested over the suspected Iranian bomb plot at RAF Fairford will now all be released on bail.
British authorities have not named the suspects.
At a press conference announcing the suspects’ release, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor tried to assure the public that they would keep a close eye on the suspects and continue to investigate.
“To be very clear, this does not mean that the investigation is over,” Taylor told reporters. “They are subject to stringent conditions on their movement and contact with others.”
“They absolutely remain under investigation as we explore multiple lines of inquiry.”
Meanwhile, Iran claims it had no involvement in the terror attack.
“The circulation of such fabricated speculations, particularly in the aftermath of the criminal acts of aggression committed by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Iranian people, will serve no purpose other than to fuel Iranophobia propaganda in the UK,” a statement from the Iranian embassy reads.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take appropriate legal measures, as necessary, to safeguard the rights and interests of the country and its people in response to misleading and damaging media narratives.”
